Okay. Your take on a Gemini Sun/Moon and Leo Rising

we love air signs on this blog lets go

gemini as the sign of communication is all about knowledge and spreading it. not necessarily in a teacher way (thats more an Aquarius thing) but just. talking. gemini love to talk about what they just learned, even if its just a tweet. a gemini who just watched a whole documentary is dangerous to talk to lmao. that can lead to a gemini gossiping a lot and always looking for the inside tea on drama, which is a potential weakness.

gemini moons specifically feel like they need to connect with people. they dont necessarily like small talk, but instead want that "deeper" connection to someone. but ! that doesn't mean they wanna know ur deepest darkest secrets. a gemini is data oriented. they wanna figure you out, and dont always need or want you personally to actually tell them what u like, dislike etc.

the Leo rising is all about attention. they love being in the center of it. but, they want to be it because they are appreciated and praised for their efforts, not bcs of stuff like drama, or bcs they're messy. leos are proud individuals after all

gemini + Leo really makes a social butterfly who thrives on attention in social gatherings and praise for their intellect! its a fixed + mutable combo, which I always like bcs it makes them less likely to be stuck in their ways, which fixed signs like leos tend to be.

Why We Invested in (our second) Rocket Company

My first full-time job was in the space business.  In 1992, I had just earned my master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and moved to a suburb of Philadelphia to work at the Astro Space division of General Electric (now part of Lockheed Martin).

I worked on two satellites – Echostar, and AsiaSat-2.  Both were direct broadcast satellites, meaning that they were designed for broadcasting digital television signals from geostationary orbit.  Geostationary orbit is a circular path around the earth about 22,000 miles high where a spacecraft appears to stay in the same spot in the sky because it revolves around the earth once every 24 hours.

As an integration and test engineer, I learned everything about the satellites:  how they work, how they were designed, how they were built, how they were launched, and how they were operated in-orbit.  The technology was fascinating, and I learned everything I could, including taking graduate-level classes in space mission design and orbital mechanics.

But after a few years, I realized that the industry was stagnant.  Space technologies were stuck in the 60′s and 70′s, largely developed during the glory days of the Apollo moon program.  Engineers and the large defense contractors weren’t ready to try anything new.  The prospect of spending most of the next 20 years of my life working my way up through a bureaucracy and filing Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) terrified me - so I pivoted my career trajectory to Silicon Valley, where in the mid-90′s it was clear the Internet was about to change everything.  So I left Martin Marietta, and came out to San Francisco in 1996 to surf the Internet wave.

About five years ago I started to look at the space industry again.  To my delight, 20 years of semiconductor advances due to Moore’s Law changed everything.  Missions that used to require school-bus-sized satellites, could now be performed with toaster-sized satellites.  Companies like Planet Labs, which takes pictures of the earth with shoebox-sized spacecraft, were newly possible by leveraging the latest smartphone technologies.  A whole series of space-based communications platforms finally make financial sense, when delivered with modern networking silicon.

Oddly, the missing link became launch capacity.  Even SpaceX’s Falcon 9 is a huge rocket, and doesn’t make commercial sense for launching these new, micro-sized satellites, unless you piggyback with a bigger payload or bundle together a bunch of microsats.  But the problem is, every small satellite maker has different needs.  The market for individually launching these “toaster-sized” spacecraft had been overlooked - hence Shasta’s enthusiasm for Vector.  As you can read about in this Bloomberg article from earlier today, Vector is building small launch vehicles, that can fit into a standard shipping container, and can launch a microsat into Low Earth Orbit for about $1.5 million per launch.  That’s a revolutionary capability and price point.

Vector’s CEO, Jim Cantrell, had heard about my space background and asked a mutual friend, Jana Messerschmidt, for an introduction.  I’m glad Jana made that connection!  Over the next few months, I met more of Vector’s core team, including John Garvey, Shaun Coleman, and Ken Sunshine.  This team is built of a special combination of maverick space industry veterans and young talent.  Together with my colleagues at Shasta, we became extremely enthusiastic about the team, and their mission to revolutionize access to space for microsats - and we wanted to be a part of it.

Today, Vector represents Shasta’s third investment in the emerging space industry.  We were seed investors in Spire, which is building a constellation of satellites for tracking ships, jets, and weather.  Last year, we invested in Accion, a Boston-based company building ultra-high efficiency rockets for in-space propulsion.  Vector is the perfect complement to Spire and Accion, and we’re on the lookout for more interesting startups in this category as part of our focus on emerging platforms.

the very first thing I thought when I saw these 2 was: trouble to admit feeling things. bcs I know both scorpio and Leo got trouble letting ppl in, and as I've said before gemini have trouble connecting to their own emotions. Scorpio sun gemini moon makes u a good communicator on a business or small talk level, or even more deep topics, as long as its not getting to close to ur own core, which you protect. both signs are pretty passionate, so you'll get into things very fast, however Geminis do get bored fast, so you'll probably drop someone or something as soon as it doesn't give u that initial kick anymore.

with the Leo rising, you love praise and strive to be "someone" - you want ppl to know who you are. with the gemini, its especially important to u to be known for being intellectual or knowledgable.

ok wow lets go NICE big three u got there

so u got 2 air signs and an earth rising. the Aquarius sun and moon really give you a feeling for the state of the world. however, u also tend to be eccentric and a bit odd - doesn't mean its a bad thing, Aquarius are the air sign that sticks out, libra the one to adapt. Air moon specifically can tend to be rational about emotions, so they have trouble actually connecting to their feelings and try to rationalize everything.

With the addition of the taurus rising, u got more of a slow n steady approach to life. I could imagine with the two aquas, its a lot about daydreaming and thinking about the finer things in life. Aquarius is all about change, creating a different world, while taurus likes it more safe - an interesting combo for sure. maybe it manifests in you having a big vision for urself, and ur taurus rising makes u determined and ambitions enough to actually follow through!

welcome to the fabulous fun that is astrology i promise its great and not that deep. anyways here we go

cancers are Family oriented, but i find that this extends to found/chosen family as well - their loved ones are important to them. they are also nostalgic and sentimental, and will get defensive and angry/sad when hurt. cancers are emotional but not always in touch with their emotions, hence the defensive reaction. aries moon only further enhances that as theyre also emotional signs who arent always fully aware of all the reasons behind their emotions. id say that the go to reaction of a cancer sun/aries moon person is to get angry and lash out. however, they love just as intensely and deeply care abt u once they let u in. the gemini rising is an analytical, rational counterpart to all of that, giving u the skill to let some of that behind when tackling a problem. that entirely depends on how well u manage to work with ur emotions tho. id say that this combination is a lot to deal with, but ultimately extremly passionate and loyal. its also not easy to reach, as all parts of the big three are hard to truly get a hold of.

ha bet yall thought ill never get to these ever right. well you're wrong im just an awful person and keep forgetting to do shit and in THEORY im tired and should go to bed but whatever

not gonna lie im always a bit scared of scorpios. they are intense and kinda insane, but at the end of the day they are still water signs (read: emo). but scorpios and Libras both of a kinda uuuh. strong aura to them if you know what I mean? they just attract people. there's a reason ppl associate scorpios with being attractive n shit. also feel like Libras and scorpios are both all about strong opinions and many passions!

virgo rising is always a pretty nice placement, bcs I always see Virgos as problem solvers and the rising placement is literally about tackling problems - just seems like a good fit, I really like it.

I feel like none of these signs are particularly in touch with their emotions, which is something to think about - scorpios usually have this aggressive exterior, trying to protect their inner core, while Libras are just. well air signs who just dont do emotions. and Virgos also tend to to help everyone but themselves.

virgo and sag are a wild combo, bcs at first glance these signs seem so opposite from each other. Virgos love a routine, sags love change and excitement. Virgos are about details, sag are about the bigger picture. Virgos are more rational, sags are emotional. but they're both mutable signs, meaning they both accept change as a part of life. however, I feel like their answers to change are so different: Virgos accept change and try to be prepared for it (having plans for all situations etc), meanwhile sags accept change and then go with the flow, without any plans.

a sag moon especially might make u allergic to emotional commitments and the thoughts of settling down. id say you are fiercely independent and value ur own space and having the freedom to do things ur own way.

if well balanced, this combo might make u able to see both: the details and the whole thing, the beauty in a good plan and the freedom of no plans at all.

my first thought was wow u get really into details, like on an obsessive level. scorpios are super intense personalities, and caps and Virgos are both all about doing things the "right" way. I think its also interesting how u have the water sign as ur moon sign, since the moon placement usually dictates how we process emotions. scorpios are, to me at least, the most impulsive and "angry" water sign - but they are also fragile and nervous, just like Virgos can be sometimes. so u might also find urself worrying a lot about what others think of u, and if they truly care about you.

but at the same time, the scorpio moon with the two earth sign gives u a good balance of rationality and intuitional thinking! and u also have a cardinal, fixed and mutable sign, which I personally always really like!!

oh this is WILD because id say that pisces are ultimately very trusting ppl with good intentions, and Virgos are the sign thats known to be like. "of service" and feel good abt helping ppl, but scorpios are rather closed off and a little.....distrusting? they are very protective of themselves id say. they never forget anything lmao

but as its ur rising, maybe its more like a facade, or an initial reaction to new people? it could be that u often deal with contrasting emotions and thoughts, ur scorpio rising trying to protect u from the world while ur pisces wants to get to know it. scorpios also often have this "intimidating yet fascinating" vibe to them (also ppl call them freaky all the time. idk abt that tho). scorpios also tend to be rather jealous !

hi, never too late for the astrology thing!! if u want to get into astrology id totally recommend following a couple of light hearted twitter or instagram accounts who post short but sweet threads and memes and just check ur own signs as well as the ones of ur homies, favorite drivers, ur partner, whatever. this way u get to know multiple signs slowly but steadily over time. for the different planets and houses Id recommend starting with your own chart - find out what ur mars sign is and what it means, what does the Venus sign even do, how does midheaven work and what does /my/ midheaven do. astrology is a lot and some stuff takes time, but its fun! also do chart readings for your friends!! this also helps you find your own interpretations of certain signs and combinations. I personally only own 3 astro books, one book on leos ive had since I was like 6, one from urban outfitters (rip) thats good but not super in depth and one I found for free that I haven't read yet. rip. there are tons of free resources online, just start reading a bit. if u want account rec's or talk more about this just dm me or send another ask, im happy to help!! <3

oh I love cancer placements - they're usually very kind individuals and I found that most of my close friends either have cancer in their big three or in some other planet. I feel like cancers just usually radiate a very kind vibe, but aren't above being petty or mean - which I LOVE. and u probably do too, Geminis love talking shit. they also love talking, like, in general. with the Leo moon, u love being the center of attention and u usually naturally end up there.

Leo/cancers are both incredibly protective of their family - doesn't matter if its related by blood or chosen family. they feel at peace when they're with their loved ones. especially leos are super super loyal. they will always welcome their friends with open arms.

I also really like that the usually detached gemini sun has two emotional placements by their side. however, both signs are also usually hesitating when it comes to actually sharing their emotions as they happen, so thats something u should work on (im talking from experience, im a Leo sun/moon and cancer mars). emotions dont mean you are weak or less, and you do not have to hide them!!

cancers (and pisces too btw) also pick up vibes very easily. cancer rising probably means that u really trust ur intuition when it comes to judging situations and solving problems. which is a good thing, and the analytical gemini sun keeps u form /only/ relying on ur emotions!!
