Granny's name day by Olga Boznańska:

propaganda: Sometimes titled Granny's birthday in english but I think the fact its a name day celebration is a neat little cultural detail, the fact that some people celebrate birthdays and other people celebrate name day was the first bit of different cultures I learned about at preschool age. This girl looks tired, leaning against the wall in her best dress. I've been this girl on social/family gatherings, I feel her as you say on the internet. I also like the more vague painted adult in the background, sewing? embroidering? the focus stays on the little girl and her emotional state, but the inclusion of others, add context and balance the composition.
