We're hanging out at 2°F (-16°C) here at the homestead. Wind chill takes us well into the negatives. Snow is coming down like the end of days.

The horses have their heaviest coats on. We put a fresh bale of hay out a couple of days ago. I wish we had a proper wind block for it...

The water hose was completely frozen this morning. Hubs and I hauled some hot water down and defrosted it so we could refill the water trough.

It's supposed to get colder over the next day or so. The kids thankfully aren't asked to go to school. Probably won't tomorrow either. I knew this winter would be rough, but this is just super yucky.

One day companies will learn that 8 episodes every 3 years is ass. You create the show for a certain age demographic. By the time season 2 comes out your audience has outgrown it. Also who tf wants to wait that long. Hashtag fuck stranger things u started this. Absolutely no hope for s5.

My grandmother has been having panic attacks since my grandfather died. They had never spent a night apart in over 60 years of marriage. She's scared and I'm 3000 miles away, and I don't think I could help if I was there.

I can't imagine 60 years. I'm turning 28 this year and my grandparents had already been married for nearly a decade at this age. I've never felt pressure from anyone in my family to get married or have children and I've come to learn that's not all too common.

I'm not sure what I'm feeling and I know it's a lot. There's so much of it and I don't know where to set it down. I want to tell someone, anyone, about my grandparents that they never met. I want to be able to share how brilliant they are, how in love they were, how my grandfather wrote letters to his wife for after he passed. How it's not that he filled a room himself, but how he made you fill the room, become the center of the world, just by how he would say he was proud of you. And how he would say it so often.

I can't begin to fathom 60 years. I'm already drowning in this one.
