"Bridges in Shadow Lake are like amateur hour. Nah, I spraypainted the water tower back home. A friend and I did," Kitty said. But Parker was gone, and she was a long way from South Dakota. "I haven't done anything like that here. Yet," she said, grinning. Maybe she could convince Mason to do something like that with her. "Is it a fact that the weird kids grow into cool ones? Because I know a bunch of weird kids that just stayed, like, really fucking weird." She took his hand and gave it a firm grasp and a shake like her dad had always taught her. "Nice to meet you, Jamie the weird kid."

Vandalism. It surprised Jamie to hear. Not that he knew Kitty to make any judgements, just that graffiti artist didn't look like it'd be on her repertoire. "So.. are you responsible for the work on the side of that bridge in shadow lake, or.." He laughed aloud at himself, then again when she called him a weird kid. "Pretty sure it's facts that the weird kids growing up are the cool ones now." Watching Kitty make herself comfortable in the recliner was not convincing him she wasn't one of them, though. "Kitty." He echoed back as he took her offered up hand. "Jamie."

Akanis had some strong beliefs and they could definitely run people the wrong way, they run Ingrid the wrong way because she couldn’t understand puttying yourself in harms way. “Not a place anyone wants to be stuck.” Especially not Akanis he’d be put in the mines immediately so he could understand why someone would want to avoid that situation. “Well here’s to hoping. I’m going to try and do something about it just like everyone else going so we shall see what all of us can do together.”
Tumblr media
Jamie keeps the encounter casual and tries his best not to show his annoyance for being chastised show on his face. They're in the middle of the street, there's people everywhere, he wasn't about to get into some kind of argument. "Jus' a jest. Last time I went tae help anyone I wound up stuck in Iskaldrik so this time around my happy arse is staying here." Though he can't say it's not appealing to go simply because it's something to do. But Adrian's at the Tower, he has a tentative thing going in town, he's picking up little contracts here and there to keep himself busy. "If it comes further this way, I'll do something. Hopefully it doesnae come tae that."

"Well, Jesus, I didn't know that. I don't sit in on all her conversations," Ronnie said, still frowning, but her posture relaxed minutely. Her arms stayed crossed over her chest, but it was more insecure than belligerent. She'd gone into the situation, proverbial guns blazing, jumping into something that she had no fucking clue about. Just like always.
It was always a shock when she learned about magic being a thing outside of Lunar Cove. It shouldn't be; Cain had been holed up in some shithole in Brushwick for who knew how long when he'd turned her. "She never mentioned any of that," Ronnie murmured. Then again, maybe you didn't mention magic to your baby sister still in high school, who'd never really stopped mooching off of mom and dad until she died. "God, you must be all the rage in the city. Not having to catch a cab or call an Uber's a fucking blessing. Or take the fucking train."
She brushed a hand through her hair before toying with her bangs to fix them back. "Look, sorry for the fucking third degree. Clearly your heart or whatever was in the right place, but you know that a life or death scenario's, like, the shittiest time to drop information on someone, right? There's no way to react to that shit. It just makes what's already a stressful situation even more stressful." She gritted her teeth. "Our parents are idiots. They knew she wasn't crazy. They're just fucking stupid," she muttered. Ronnie had never thought Daphne was crazy. Weird, sure, but what older sister wasn't? Had their parents known that Daphne was a witch? They had to, right. one of them had to be one, too. That was apparently how these things worked.
Tumblr media
Any pleasantries left in Jamie's expression drained from his face. He thought the woman before him was rude. Apparently, they let anyone come to live in Lunar Cove now. Including unhinged little brunettes with serious attitudes. After a moment of consideration, he thought they'd always had a few of those, but this one seemed worse somehow. Presumptuous and wrong. "I never lived in LA, so I don't know you or who your sister is but --" Oh. The witch bomb. This was Daphne's sister. His dark eyes flared wide. Of course.
Maybe he needed to care less about others. Every time he involved himself with someone who needed his help it got turned around on him. It was demoralizing against his attempts to act like a fucking grown up, to be someone of use to his hometown.
"Daphne and I have already spoken." It was to his impression she'd spoken to her sister, too, but who knew what she'd gone and said. "I told her, as I suppose I will tell you, I had no idea she didn't know she was a witch until right before the ball." A heavy sigh fell from Jamie's lips. As ill-mannered as he still thought the wide eyed woman was he understood her ferocity. For his own sisters he'd burn the world ten times over.
"We met about ten years ago, at a fashion show after party in New York. We talked magic, or so I thought. I teleported her home after, so she didn't have to catch a cab. I have no idea how she didn't know then, at least what I was.." His head shook, no energy to ponder useless thoughts. "So when I thought we were all about to die I realized I had to tell her. I wouldn't want to die, having lived my whole life, thinking I'm crazy like she did." No apology needed, at least from Jamie. He wasn't so sure Daphne didn't deserve an apology from her family, though.

"Oh, god, no. I'm not gonna lick the furniture. I was a mild vandalism kinda gal. Gotta keep me away from spray paint and permanent markers, I fear," Kitty said, grinning. "And speak for yourself. I wasn't a weird kind." She gave him a look, raising an eyebrow. "I can see it with you, though." She moved over to a recliner, picking it up with relative ease. "Please, only my mother calls me Getting Paid, and Hired Muscle's a job, not a name. Call me Kitty," she said, putting the recliner back down and offering her hand for a shake.
Tumblr media
Hands were lifted, palms forward, as Jamie dnied licking the furniture. At least, in the last few decades. "Hey, we were all weird kids, right? Can't say I do that anymore, at least, not on purpose.." The snort made Jamie laugh, and he added in question. "Speaking from experience as a professional furniture taster, are we?" It was a ridiculous conversation, but the witch appreciate the lightheartedness; exchanged between two strangers amid a chaos storm. "Hired muscle?" Jamie mused humorously, eyeing the other's petite frame. Looks could be deceiving, especially in a town of supernaturals. Standing well over six feet tall, a person of great stature himself, Jamie had been held down by quite a few smaller than he. Since childhood he, on occasion, liked to play wrestle with some wolves. Hopelessly convinced that, someday, he might beat one in a shear fight of strength; no magic just muscle. "So should I call you muscles, or I'm getting paid...?" A joke posed to ask her name.

"Christmas styled. And, I mean, I wouldn't go around reccing that you, you know, lick the furniture, but you do you, dude," Kitty said, laughing. "But you gotta be subtle, right, or you're for sure gonna get kicked from the store." She snorted. "God, I wish I had the money to buy stuff for other people. Nah, I'm just errand girl.My entire family's moved here recently because of all the bullshit going on, like, everywhere, and one of my sisters asked me to pick something up for her. Because, like, I can actually pick it up." She jokingly flexed her bicep. "I'm not an interior designer. Just hired muscle, I guess. She's supposed to help me buy a new radio for my truck, so I'm getting paid."
Tumblr media
It was hopeless. The furniture endeavor. This was Jamie's third store today, and he was no closer to furnishing his home. Maybe the space needed more than a new couch or rug. A new build, but already in need of a remodel. "Christmas... flavored?" He wondered if that was the word she meant to use. "Sounds like something out of a Willy Wonka movie, flavored couches." His eyebrows waggled in amusement. "Not to eavesdrop but... uh... are you one of those people? You know.. the ones who buy things for other people's houses?" While his sisters would gladly do the job of decorating his home, Jamie didn't trust them not to make his place to their liking. He wanted it to be his own, and in time it would be. The right alterations, a good rug, and he'd be throwing parties by the summer.

To bet on who’s coming back! How morbid, how vile that someone would bet on the life of another. Akanis didn’t find it remotely amusing “you shouldn’t bet on lives, those leaving should deserve more respect than that.” This city was home to all types and not matter how some turned his stomach he was a knight and had a duty to protect its civilians. “I’m going to fight, try and push back the dark. This belongs to my other half.” And Ingrid wouldn’t let him forget it if he had lost some of her armour. It would go along the line of ‘you brought us here and you can’t even be prepared’ maybe a curse word or two thrown in there. “Are you not going?” Maybe the other was capable of helping, any aid would be helpful.
Tumblr media
"I'm here tae bet on who is comin' back." He's teasing, but he can't say it's not entirely true. That last night at Nornwatch had been a complete bloodbath and normally he flourished in such an environment but considering it was blood he couldn't actually consume, it'd been probably the most horrifying thing he'd seen in his entire life. And he'd spent decades at Dracula's castle in Veilcrest. Giving the man a once over as he took the gauntlet back from him, Jamie wondered who the hell he'd packed for. Could be some kind of medic just afraid of leaving anything behind, but the gauntlet seemed too small for his forearms. "Ye goin tae support someone or are ye charging intae battle yerself?"

Hello had to guess he looked like a mess, not only carrying his belongings but Ingrid’s too, probably looked like he was prepared to fight the whole battle by himself. He was thankful that the man it ended up with wasn’t harsh. That accent was thick, he could understand him but it was very distinct. “Thank you. Sadly it’s not the first time I’ve packed for the battlefield, though I do always forget something or learn to take something new next time.”taking the gauntlet he noticed the man wasn’t like everyone else here, he wasn’t getting ready to for the battle ahead. “You here for moral support?”
Tumblr media
Everyone was packing up to head towards Aventia and after his excursion in Iskaldrik, dwelling in the depths of Nornwatch, Jamie wasn't keen on leaving Lysara any time soon. Still, taking inventory of who was going was something to do and so strolling through the streets and seeing everyone who was obviously stocking up on supplies or getting ready to head out. Pausing for a moment, just people watching, one of the men passing dropped a particularly fancy piece of metal. Reflexes kick in before it can do any damage and he swipes it just as it brushes his shin. Looking at it as he straightens up far too quickly, he furrows his brow. Armor, well crafted, he holds it out to the man with a quirked brow. "Nae harm done. Figure naeone really knows how tae prepare fer such a thing."
