Datalounge is the gift that keeps on giving.
The bottom photo in the series above appears in the thread linked below.
The comments discussing members of Led Zeppelin are the usual stuff for the most part like Jimmy and Lori. There are a couple of tidbits about Robert that might be new to people on here:
"[R488] Since you knew Zep PR people, have you ever heard them address anything concerning the rumor about the death of Robert Plant's son? Supposedly the boy was seen in nyc with the band right before his death, accidentally got into a bag of drugs and died. The story of him dying at home of a sudden infection being pure fiction."
by Anonymous reply 500 December 28, 2018
"[R500], think it was a rumor about Karec being in NYC the night before his death. Especially as the band were not even in the city when Plant's son died.
Karec died back home in England. Plant's home was nowhere near a hospital, which is likely the main reason he died.
Around the time of Karec's death, the band were scheduled to play a gig upstate NY, I forgot where. Weeks before, in the NY Daily News, Plant's family had been pictured in a roped off area of Madison Square Garden. The band played a full week at MSG. I attended three of those shows. I think that's how the rumor started that Karec was in NYC and died of drug overdose, because the band were coming back to NY to play that upstate NY gig. Yet Plant's family was already back home in England.
If Karec did indeed die in NYC, this has got to be one of rock history's most well-kept secrets.
The NY Daily News has the son's name wrong, he's listed as Korac." Classic Rock Review: Image classicrockreview.files.wordpress.com by Anonymous reply 501 December 28, 2018
"[R500]-[R501]: Karac Plant died in Kidderminster, where Plant had his family home. There was a local hospital there at the time, they only live a mile or so outside of town so it didn't take long to get to the hospital. Kiddy is only at most maybe 10-15 mins by ambulance to Birmingham.
He died quickly, either en route to hospital or just after arriving. Its been discussed over the years that he may have had Kawasaki syndrome, which is when the immune system has an overwhelmed abnormal reaction to an infection. Occurs in children and would explain the fast death.
LZ had just flown into NOLA when Plant got the news. It was in late July just before they were going on break, a few weeks before Elvis died and Plant himself turned 29." by Anonymous reply 518 December 28, 2018
"Plant, a few years later had a son with his ex-wife’s sister.
His oldest son, Logan, is good-looking" Blog www.beavertownbrewery.co.uk
by Anonymous reply 519 December 28, 2018
"Plant had a son, or raised a son with Maureen's sister, nearly 14 years after Karac died. There are some who don't believe he's Robert's bio child, being as he broke up with the mother several years earlier and had other intervening relationships. Nevertheless his name is on the birth cert and he's raised the boy, Jordan, who graduated from Leeds a few years ago."
by Anonymous reply 520 December 28, 2018
"His name is Jesse Lee not Jordan"
by Anonymous reply 521 December 28, 2018
"No his actual name is Jordan, that is what he's gone by for many yrs (you can google this). It's also he name on his UK birth record, which is public record.
I know he is listed as "Jesse" in some places. They may have decided to put that out as a public name, to maintain his privacy and keep nosy bodies at bay. No one really knew about him until he was well up into school."
by Anonymous reply 522 December 28, 2018
"he = his in first paragraph."
by Anonymous reply 523 December 28, 2018
"What difference does it make what his first name is, if his last name was Plant
Like being called Jordan instead of Jesse is gonna throw people off" by Anonymous reply 524 December 28, 2018
------------------------------------------------------
Don't know where one of the people commenting about Robert and Shirley got their info about the two supposedly breaking up years before Jordan/Jesse was born.
I'm sure Robert wasn't monogamous when he was with Shirley (or ever) so the presumably true part about Robert being with other women in the years leading up to their son's birth is entirely unsurprising.
If anyone's interested, there's stuff to read about a lot of other musicians of the 60s, 70s, & 80s.
Get comfy though. 600 reply thread.

Observations/my favorite things in Hadestown Live from London:
Act 1:
Melanie La Barrie's interpretation of Hermes really works for me, it's my favorite version so far
Caribbean Hermes! Irish Orpheus!! Northern Eurydice!! love that they got to keep their accents
Orpheus's "Yes..." in Come Home With Me
Orpheus's laugh as Eurydice accuses of him being a liar and player; the playfulness of the interaction is so cute and helps balance their dynamic (you get why she would actually want to give him the time of day), and she returns the laugh at the end
Grace Hodgett-Young and Dónal Finn both have absolutely gorgeous singing and speaking voices
"and the sugar from the maple" line sounds so good
the voice crack "Yes!" (Wedding Song) gets me every time
more giggling from Orpheus and Eurydice
Gloria Onitiri's Persephone is so good! Her characterization is fun and I like her vocal choices
singing "who has finally returned to us / with wine enough to share" (Livin' It Up On Top)
I've loved every single version of All I've Ever Known I've ever heard
knowing that Dónal's favorite line is "But when I saw you all alone against the sky/It's like I've known you all along"
the strings solo is beautiful (All I've Ever Known)
Zachary James is really good as Hades, I like that he's not trying to do a Patrick Page impression
Removing Epic II means we miss the best transition of the show of Epic II into Chant I
Grace Hodgett-Young has such a strong and consistent voice; Eurydice's desperation in Chant really comes through
I have also never heard a bad version of Now That the Chips are Down
Dónal's Orpheus sounds significantly sadder and more angry at himself when he realizes why Eurydice left and as such, he sounds much more desperate to go after her. He also sounds more unsure as he starts walking but the strength in his voice is perfect
not gonna lie, I usually skip Why We Build the Wall. It's fine as a song and well sung, and I understand why it's there narratively and it helps worldbuild Hadestown before we see it through Eurydice's eyes, but it just does nothing for me (Act I functionally ends at Wait For Me)
the chorus getting quiet at the end of Why We Build the Wall is a good choice
Act II:
jumping straight to If It's True on this album is crazy. I'm aware that since it cut songs it's not meant to be fully representative of the show, but it really changes the listening experience if you skip to the middle of Act 2
Dónal's If It's True is devastating. What can I say that hasn't already been said: it's the perfect mix of sad and angry and unifying for the workers. Righteously angry union leader Orpheus is the best
Epic III fantastic as always
Epic III lyric rewrite is fine. I still like the og version (from the off-broadway version) and I get why it keeps changing but I do think the lyrics are not as inventive
Epic III They Danced instrumental/vocal is also beautiful I love it so much
giggles in Promises! Getting flustered as the audience cheered
Promises is the last time we see Orpheus and Eurydice happy together and Grace Hodgett-Young and Dónal Finn play it so well, the emotions are all there
Wait for Me Reprise
Leaving off Doubt Comes In is criminal, I'm so sorry, Dónal's version is great and equally devastating and this is the song I'm the saddest was excluded
Road to Hell Reprise continues to be sad and the emotional whiplash without having Doubt Comes In is wild
Overall:
Fantastic album, I love this cast and glad they got a recording. Mourning the cut songs (also they cut so many Hades and Persephone songs; they have none of the ones they sing together), living in denial that they have them recorded from this performance and will release them someday.

The Biden/Harris Presidential Inaugural Committee announced additional programming in advance of the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on January 20. The theme of the now five consecutive nights of events is “America United.”
On Saturday, January 16 is America United: An Inauguration Welcome Event Celebrating America’s Changemakers. The event will “celebrate America, reflect and honor our history, and highlight the incredible diversity of the nation” and kick off the five days of programming.
Whoopi Goldberg, actor Nik Dodani, comedienne and actress Cristela Alonzo, musician Darren Criss, Representative Grace Meng, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms and Resistance Revival Choir will participate. The Welcome Event will feature a special performance by the Grammy-nominated Black Pumas. It will stream live from 7:00-8:30 PM ET at bideninaugural.org and on Presidential Inaugural Committee social media pages.
Also announced today is United We Serve: A Celebration of the National MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 18. According to the release, thousands of volunteers across the country will participate in the National Day of Service, which will then be celebrated by entertainers and inspiring speakers such as Aloe Blacc, Rev. Dr. Bernice King, Martin Luther King III, Chesca, Rep. Sharice Davids, Rosario Dawson, Andra Day, Yo-Yo Ma, Rev. Al Sharpton, Sean Patrick Thomas, Diane Warren, Lynn Whitfield and Bebe Winans. The event will stream live from 8:00-9:00 PM ET at bideninaugural.org and on the inaugural committee’s social media pages.
Those events are in addition to the already-announced Memorial and Nationwide Tribute to Remember and Honor the Lives Lost to Covid-19 on Tuesday the 19th. At 5:30 p.m. ET, a D.C. ceremony will feature a lighting around the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. The inaugural committee has invited cities and towns around the country to join in illuminating buildings and ringing church bells.
Inauguration Day events include President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris laying wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery with former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton and the former First Ladies in attendance.
Tom Hanks will host the primetime Celebrating America special that will culminate the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
Along with appearances from the 46th POTUS and 49th VPOTUS, the Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss-produced 90-minute show will feature “The Star-Spangled Banner” courtesy of Lady Gaga; a “musical performance” by Jennifer Lopez, the details of which were not disclosed; and performances from Justin Timberlake, Demi Lovato, Ant Clemons and longtime Democrat supporter Jon Bon Jovi.
Celebrating America will air on multiple networks. Starting at 8:30 p.m. ET, the unity-aiming special will be carried by ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC and CNN, I hear. Additionally, the Weiss-directed show will be seen on Amazon Prime Video, Microsoft Bing, NewsNOW from Fox, and AT&T DIRECTV and U-verse as well as the Presidential Inaugural Committee’s social media feeds.
In a lead-up to Wednesday’s ceremony, the Biden team is bringing in some fictional D.C. heavyweights for a January 15 fundraiser. Unveiled today, the Conversations with Actors from The West Wing, Scandal, and Designated Survivor event will see Designated Survivor regular and ex-Obama staffer Kal Penn playing ringmaster.
On January 17th, another star-studded fundraiser takes place. Dubbed the We the People Concert, the event will be hosted by Keegan-Michael Key and Debra Messing. It will feature Ben Harper, Carole King, will.i.am, Fall Out Boy, James Taylor, AJR, Michael Bivens, Connie Britton, Sophia Bush, Jaimie Camil and Cal Penn. The festivities begin at 8 PM ET.

On the subject of: Micronations
(Note: not written for political purposes, only information on an interesting topic. Not intended to be taken as a serious examination of living monarchies)
While not the most shining example of modern monarchy, monarchist micronations are still an example to be thoroughly examined when considering the implications of creating new monarchies and how they are accepted in the present world.
To start, let’s examine a few living micronations and how they came to be:
Sealand (est. 1967)
The Crown Dependency of Forvik (declared independent in 2008)
Kingdom of Talossa (est. 1979)
Principality of Seborga (claim extends back to Middle Ages)
Each of these has notable claim to independence and has garnered support for their actions both online and in person. Let us begin with examining the famous Principality of Sealand:
Founded in 1967 on a WWII-era Maunsell Fort (originally built to defend against Axis ships, submarines, and aircraft), it was declared a principality by British-born national Patrick “Paddy” Bates after being occupied for two years. The principality faced invasion by British authorities (despite being in international waters) was sacked by mercenaries hired by a former associate of Bates, saw the “Crown Prince” Michael taken hostage, and eventually was given its independence. This micronation is seen as a symbol of independent thought and innovation in the face of adversity. Today, Sealand continues to operate as a monarchist state and has sports teams, sells/produces titles of nobility, passports, currency, and is active in social media. One of the first modern micronations, it has certainly been an interesting addition to British history and has stood as inspiration for later micronations. More information can be found here:
https://sealandgov.org/
The Crown Dependency of Forvik was established in 2008 on a small island within the Scottish Shetland islands. While not as “legitimate” (as much as a micronation can be) as the others listed, this principality has never had a physical population and citizenship can only be obtained through yearly payments online. On the island, though, there are the remnants of a structure that cannot conclusively be identified. It could be anything from a Pictish era fort-type building to a sheep pen. In any case, ownership is disputed between Mark King, the original owner of the island, and Stuart Hill, or “Captain Calamity”, who had shipwrecked there while attempting to sail around the British Isles. The small island was declared a Crown Dependency, making it independent of the British Crown and self-governing. This, Hill claims, has inspired Shetland secessionists and he is actively involved in their movements. According to the Wikipedia page on the Crown Dependency of Forvik (for lack of better source): “Hill cited an arrangement struck in 1469 between King Christian I of Denmark/Norway and Scotland’s King James III, whereby Christian effectively pawned the Shetland Islands to James in order to raise money for his daughter's dowry. He contended that, as the loan was never repaid and no other legal agreement ever put in place, Shetland remains in a constitutional limbo, and should properly enjoy the status of Crown Dependencies such as the Isle of Man or the Channel Islands. The validity of this was not accepted by the British government.” Now, the Crown Dependency of Forvik serves as a symbol for Shetland secessionists who strive for independence of the British Crown. More information can be found here (with additional links to other references):

The Kingdom of Talossa (Talossa is Finnish for “within the house”) was created in 1979 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in the bedroom of 14 year old Robert Madison. It was documented in publications such as Wired and the New York Times garnering interest in the micronation and inspiring people to obtain Talossian “citizenship”. The Kingdom of Talossa developed to the point that the nation has its own language, with an extensive vocabulary based primarily on French. Though claiming an area of only 13 km2 in Milwaukee, the small country claims a population of around 250 individuals from multiple nations that maintain their citizenship primarily online. Talossa takes pride in its culture and language, and is arguably far more developed than other micronations. While the Kingdom of Talossa has a very spread-out “populace”, it is surprisingly close-knit with online forums, occasional physical meetings, and active cabinet involvement from members. For the purposes of this list, the Kingdom of Talossa may be considered the most complex of the given micronations. Between the developed culture, artificial language, and tight community, Talossa is a unique micronation. More information can be found here:
https://talossa.com/
The Principality of Seborga is perhaps the most legitimate on this list. Founded as a micronation in 1963 by Giorgio Carbone, he claimed that Vatican records showed Seborga as never having fallen under the jurisdiction of the House of Savoy, therefore making it a continually independent nation since 954 A.D. The same year as its refoundation, the people of Seborga voted to make Carbone their monarch, styling himself as His Tremendousness Prince Giorgio I of Serboga. The position is not hereditary, and every seven years a new head of state is voted on. After the death of Giorgio I, Italian-Swiss businessman Marcello Menegatto was elected Prince of Seborga and ruled until his abdication in 2019, after which his wife became ruler of Seborga as Princess Nina Menegatto. Although Seborga claims to have been recognized as a sovereign nation by Burkina Faso, which would make it the most legitimate of the nations in this list, and has a (supposed) history of independence dating back longer than a portion of modern nations, the validity of Seborga’s claims to statehood have been speculated by some to be a ploy in the interest of attracting tourists. Even if it isn’t a true, this micronation is unique in its claims compared to others. More information can be found here:
https://www.principatodiseborga.com/pds/
Small sovereignties that claim independence and have potential to grow over time have always existed and always will. The physical borders of a nation are never set in stone. Our world is perpetually shifting politically, which means that as time marches on, countries will appear and disappear; empires will take root and eventually be ripped from their soil; small nations will spring up and fade into the annals of history. Nothing of human design is eternal, nothing is for certain. Micronations offer a unique view into the every-changing world we live in, and are shining examples of humanity’s need for independence, community, and freedom.

There is also a head that blocks center stage and the action is often lost behind it. Act two is much better with no blackouts and only some heads on the bottom that are worked around well. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. There’s a lot of chatter and rustling from the audience, but the sound is otherwise excellent. Includes playbill scans.

NOTES: Really beautiful shot in an intimate space. Lots of zooms, but a good amount of wider shots too with a very limited (almost nonexistent) amount of heads. The lighting in this theater really liked my camera and I know the show almost “by heart” so I think I followed the action as well as possible. My battery died during the last song, but it starts at the very beginning with only one drop out during dialogue.

Amélie - Pre-Broadway/Los Angeles - December 4, 2016 (Preview) (SJ Bernly's master) FORMAT: MP4 (HD) CAST: Phillipa Soo (Amélie Poulain), Savvy Crawford (Young Amélie), Adam Chanler-Berat (Nino Quincampoix), Tony Sheldon (Raymond Dufayel / Collignon), Manoel Felciano (Raphaël Poulain / Bretodeau), Alison Cimmet (Amandine Poulain / Philomene), Harriett D Foy (Suzanne), Maria-Christina Oliveras (Gina), Alyse Alan Louis (Georgette / Sylvie / Collignon's Mother), Randy Blair (Hipolito / Suicidal Tourist / Elton John), Heath Calvert (Lucien / Mysterious Man), Heath Calvert (Adrien Wells/Wallace), Paul Whitty (Fluffy / Collignon's Father), Paul Whitty (Joseph), David Andino (Blind Beggar), David Andino (Garden Gnome)
NOTES: This show is magical, Phillipa is captivating, and the entire ensemble is perfectly quirky. There have been a few changes since Berkeley that tighten up the show a bit and make it ready for Broadway. A near perfect capture with no washout, no obstruction, and just one very quick dropout. It’s filmed in 16:9, with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. The sound is excellent. Includes curtain call and playbill scans.

NOTES: Closing show! Or “rock concert” if you ask Christy Altomare. Yeah so this is a pretty obstructed video. Everyone was really excited so people were standing up, people were moving around, and honestly I had a little trouble paying attending to my viewfinder with all of the tears streaming down my face. Like Beetlejuice I would say it’s mostly like highlights, but all of the things that happen in the center part of the stage are captured really well and the video is DEFINITELY Christy centric. “Journey to the Past” is complete and gorgeous and you will cry. First act starts around when Anya meets Dmitry and the second act starts during “Crossing A Bridge.”

NOTES: Great capture of this wonderful touring company with no obstructions except for a head leaning into the frame for a second or two in Act One. Filmed with a mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups, and there’s only a couple instances of wandering after applause (limited to early in Act One) and no major dropouts.

NOTES: Unfortunately, one of the key scenes (approx. 2 minutes) in the end, right after „A simple thing (Reprise)“, is missing. The very last minute of the finale was captured though.

NOTES: Looks about how you’d expect for a video this old. Serious gen loss (both softness and rainbowing), decent but not great audio.

NOTES: This first attempt at a sequel to Annie, Annie 2: Miss Hannigan's Revenge, opened at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. in December 1989 to universally disastrous reviews.
Extensive reworking of the script and score proved futile, and the project ended before officially reaching Broadway; newly surfaced video was filmed from the balcony. Shot between heads, and the balcony railing is visible, but not too bad-you still get a good feel for the show. Recorded at the second night performance. Some generational loss. B
