Corner Lot Modern Farmhouse
Happy Thursday, my friends.. or whichever day you’re seeing this. How are you today? I must say that I spent most of my week feeling a little grumpy. I am usually very positive, always feeling thankful for everything, which I really am, but this winter got to me! It’s being really cold and we’re getting so much snow that I am missing getting outside and breathing some fresh air without feeling as if I am breathing icicles! 🙂
But life goes on and nothing’s better than a day after the other, right? I am feeling better today for two reasons: You can’t change how it’s outside but you can certainly change how you feel inside. Besides, being grumpy because how the weather is, is being a little spoiled, right?! When something is not the way you wish it was, just laugh at the situation. Improve what you can and laugh at the rest. Nothing is fully in our control and that’s a blessing! 🙂
Now, let’s talk about this stunning corner lot modern farmhouse?! First off, just look how beautiful the day seems. I see the blue skies, the trees with leaves and that alone is making me happy. Add the beautiful architectural details and you have a great home to be inspired by.

A Little Exterior Inspiration

And I love it.
But here's the thing. Here's the challenge that I never really discussed or explained and actually kind of glossed over in my hurry to get the house painted.

Yikes.
The wood siding on our house is over 100 years old.
It's been painted. And then the paint sat and peeled and then people painted over that. And on and on and on.
And to remove all the paint and scrap it down to the raw wood and paint it again is a literal fortune. A fortune that we couldn't afford because we have four children that love learning and higher education and would all like to go to college and graduate one day.
So we did the next best thing. The house was power-washed and loose paint was removed and then they painted it with the discussion that when we could afford it, we'd have the wood scraped all the way off and the house painted correctly.
And then?
I discovered James Hardie®.

It is an investment, but one that I know will be totally worth it.
Especially when you look at this every day.
So I'm making plans and saving my pennies and one day soon, this peeling painted over paint will be a distant memory.

Texas Modern Farmhouse
Recently built by Jamestown Estate Homes and located in Houston, Texas, this modern farmhouse features many inspiring exterior and interior design ideas.
Here, the builder share more details about this newly-built home:
“This was our clients’ first time to build a home from scratch. They had a lot of ideas, which were quite juxtaposed but complimented each other. He wanted rustic elements, including the bookshelves in the family room and the wood beams on the front and rear elevations. She loves glamour and made sure to include items that added sparkle to the home. These elements blended together perfectly to create a home that’s welcoming and stylish, much like our clients.”
Texas-style Modern Farmhouse
From the Builder: “We built this home for a young family who was expecting their first child. They had made an offer on another one of our homes, but we already had several offers on it. Luckily, they had time to build with us and get exactly what they wanted. For example, they anticipated needing a large utility room, plus she wanted the master closet to include a vanity, and he wanted a garage with extra space for a workshop.”

The open dining room is an entertainer’s delight, as it is open to the kitchen and family rooms. It has a coffered ceiling and a dramatic chandelier.
