The closest thing is posing dramatically, scowling up at Alder, while Serperior coils loosely and protectively around him.

There's a cute scene where highly anxious rookie trainer Nanette (Nonomi) imagines training a Snivy and backs out of it because she's scared of the idea of it evolving into a Serperior and hugging her too tightly...

Cilan, Iris and the Unova rivals hugging their Pokémon. Except for two:

Because Pocket Monsters (2019)/Pokemon Journeys gave Trip longer hair framing his face and slightly more prominent eyelashes (he used to sometimes have them in BW! with eyes closed, not open), I figured I'd change my older Trip design to match (but keep the ponytail—I usually drew him with long hair older, tied back—suits Serperior's 1700's French aristocratic aesthetics)!

Inktober Day 20: Favorite Pokemon #12, Serperior!

Snakes (alongside some types of lizard) are my favorite animals, so as you can imagine, seeing a grass-type starter based off of one pleases me. What I appreciate about Serperior is that it takes an outside the box approach design wise; rather than drawing from the typical fangly venomous snake like, say, Arbok and Seviper, it appears to draw its look more from the lesser known vine snakes (which have pointy snouts and live in trees). Add a royalty theme for good measure, and you got yourself a recipe for an inspired pokemon. Serperior also has some great speed coupled with solid defenses, making it pretty good with supporter sets. Give it the Contrary ability though, and you have a MONSTROUS sweeper on your side. Enjoy those Leaf Storms that now BOOST Serperior’s special attack!

YEP, he’s really angry at Alder for most of this. Just. So much disappointment and bitterness and anger and Trip REALLY thought he was special with that promise, but to Alder, just another kid in the crowd, did I ever say something like that…?
