🌿     east couldn’t think of an excuse as he stared back at jaena’s face on his phone via facetime. it wasn’t as though he had been trying to ignore her, but it was more of a ‘i’m in the zone’ kind of situation. he was clearly out of it now, seeing that his phone was off of do not disturb mode. “sorry, ma. i was working, you know how i get.” a sheepish smile was offered in hopes of saving himself from getting an earful. “what you doing now, though?”

[text] Don’t get too drunk tonight.

It was barely ten o'clock, and Gemi was already out of it. Surprisingly, it had been the first set of drinks the singer had in weeks; for the first time in a long time, she was able to bury herself so deep into her work she ultimately forgot she had demons that she needed to constantly keep at bay. Tonight was different. Tonight there wasn’t any work she could do, and with strict request from her members and managers to take time to herself, here she was. If only they knew she would have been better off at the studio.

Another minute, and another round the woman was taking back like nothing. She was so caught up pouring a new glass of tequila, she barely noticed the vibration in her left back pocket. Once she did, she whipped it out, squinted as she tried to read the message on the screen through her lazy eyes. A snort left her as she read it, shrugging her shoulders as she struggled to open the phone to reply.

A stupid ass smiley face was all she could muster to send at her current state. Surely she knew it would have the other person worrying about her, but she didn’t care. She had her tequila and that’s all that mattered in that moment.

She might not know it, but Christian not the type to easily give up, especially when it comes to winning. It just happened that they started a stupid drinking game and he was actually about to fall down. Perhaps he should have eaten something before going to a party in the first place.

what had began as a joke has apparently become a concrete desire of jaena’s. darae had never imagined she’d hear the young rapper actually come and ask to learn the snippet of choreography from a song she had released ages ago. the move had become somewhat ‘iconic’, but nothing of a dance craze - mostly because it’s so difficult to do. 

a tiny smile forms on the otherwise stoic woman’s features; her entire face engaged in the subtle expression as even her become crescent-like. something about this is enough to make her feel special. despite the years of fame, and all of the experience that had come with it, darae had never gotten used to someone genuinely admiring her. it felt like a dream every time she stood before thousands of cheering fans. part of her still believes that it is, and while life has given her plenty of downs, the ups make it worth persevering. moments like these, though jaena probably thought it to be nothing, remind her just why she is still here, still fighting.

“you want to learn it, huh?? after all this time ...” she fronts as though she really has to think about it - like an old witch pondering whether she should teach her signature spell to her young apprentice. but the answer is already decided in her mind, and in one fluid gesture, she gives a simple nod, her earnest little smile becoming something of a smirk. she’s already getting into the skin of her stage persona. 

“alright, i’ll teach you. but this stays between you and me - it’ll be our secret.”

🌈     baby blue polished fingers swirled around the straw that was resting inside bambi’s plastic cup of iced coffee as she listened to the other speak. the subject matter had been lighthearted for the most part, but briefly they’d gotten to talking about deeper things and that’s where jaena’s comment came in. “i feel like so many people can relate to that, but, honey, you’re far from the worse.” bambi truly did mean the words, she held jaena in high regard. having met the other several years back it had been quite the uphill trek for both of them, but they were here now. “i think in the industry we’re in, there’s so many lows that it’s normal to feel like we’re overcompensating. i think it’s human nature, but hey-- you are doing a great job.” a genuine smile was flashed before she went back to sipping her coffee.

with lids still shut, aera let a low chuckle escape her lips. she didn’t have to open them to see who was addressing her. the voice had become quite a familiar one. for some reason, j.na was always the one to catch her sleeping, that is, with the exception of today. because aera had not been asleep despite what it may have looked like to the younger female. with her closed eyes and long limbs sprawled out on the practice room floor, aera was simply taking a breather after completing her dance routine, for what seemed to be the 100th time over the past two hours. she was exhausted and had decided to lie down for a minute, the closing of her eyes were due to the bright lights that had shown over her.

“i’m not asleep, thank you very much.” her tone was playful, maybe because she wouldn’t be receiving the scolding that usually came her way from the younger. often telling the older to take care of herself and to make sure she got enough rest. which aera took to be her job, especially as a sunbae and with pa5tel debuting soon, but it seemed their roles were reversed. 

“but i am tired, so would you mind handing me that bottle of water over by that chair?” her eyes flashed open to reveal the other standing over her. offering the younger woman a bright smile, she pointed in the direction of the chair before bringing her hands to rest under her head.“please and thank you.”

             —❥ Her jaw dropped slightly and she looked around. It wasn’t the disagreement she had an issue with. It was just the fact that the other was so obviously wrong. She pushed her hair out of her face before pursing her lips.  ❝ But how? I mean, look at everyone’s faces. They think it’s too salty, too. I’m gonna say something. Do you think I should? ❞

            She hesitated. She suddenly wasn’t so sure. She knew how it felt to put hard-work into things and have people tell her that they weren’t good enough or weren’t what they wanted. She furrowed her brows and then huffed. ❝ Uh- Maybe I should just let them be. But then, won’t they get less people in the restaurant if the food is salty. I’m just trying to help them out, right? ❞

Play it cool. “They’re on a date?” Perhaps playing stupid to it now was only going to make him look like an idiot. Their mutual friends had only been flirting with each other the entire time the four of them had been out. Even a young child walking by would be able to spot the obvious date that was taking place in Hanbin’s presence.

eunha had only meant to try the bracelet on since she thought it was cute. all the little jewels and sparkles - it was definitely eye catching, and the aussie was captivated. but at the other’s words, she quickly pulling it off her wrist, shoving it back into her hands. “no, no!” she declines, an almost flustered expression of her face. “there’s no need for that, really. i’ll get myself one! besides, it totally matches your outfit now!”

That was unquestionable from the way her cheeks blushed and her lips parted into a smile. “You do know that I completely BLOCKED OFF the last part of your statement, right??” She teased, arms coming to wrap around the other’s frame and cheeks pressing against her own. “You’re important to me too, you piece of shit.”

・ﾟ✧* ♡ honestly, she wasn’t quite sure what to say regarding the blonde’s question. what even was normal? the answer is different in everyone’s books, it was quite obvious that the girl hasn’t thoroughly thought of a possible definition herself. she sat there, shifting up to the edge of her seat and laced her fingers together, “well– not me, and most definitely not you.”

“being normal is boring, it’s typical and expected… people are just afraid to be a little different, and that’s the sad part,” jaena stated, eyeing the male. her weary expression and disinterested tone wasn’t intentional, majority of the time the dark-haired woman could care less in what people do with themselves.

as brashly as he may appear to the public eye, haelin could be quite an emotionally responsive person. though most people tend to equate that with sensitivity, such is not the case for the rapper - he simply does not filter himself. which, unfortunately, often translates into hardly making an effort to control himself. admittedly, this is something with which he’s struggled since adolescence - and since then, has he worked on it as well. but what human fails to fall back into their old ways, every now and again? surely not one he’d ever met. 

but this responsiveness is why he avoids reading unconstructively negative comments at all costs. it is difficult, though - despite the fact that for every one that hates him, there are ten who love him. those who hate him are large in numbers; those who scrutinize and criticize his every breath as if it were out of line. and despite still being considered something of a rookie in the idol world, as he’s only been debuted with his group for just more than two years, he is a veteran when it comes to being an idol itself. he’s known the business since he was sixteen years old, after all. 

coppery hues return the same breed of insouciant gaze toward the young woman. though with haelin, it is more that appearing bored or unbothered is his safe place - it is his default setting, despite what occurs beneath the flesh. it doesn’t last long, however, as he turns his eyes back toward the comment that had somehow escaped his mental filter of skipping it if it sounds shitty - and he’s grinning wide, tongue pressed against his teeth. “i said that out loud, huh? well. someone’s talking loads of shit about me on this article manager-nim forwarded me. called me ‘not normal’ among a whole bunch of other shit and went on to write an entire paragraph of how much of an asshole i am. you almost think they’d knew me.” 

his tone comes very matter-of-factly, and with reason. he’s heard and seen this exact same scenario countless times since the beginning of his career. he knows it like the back of his hand - better yet, the back of his eyelids. 

“d’you ever see this sorta thing, jaenayah? i’m sure you do. you were on tv, after all. people get up in arms about survival shows like nobody’s business. anyway, it’s best to ignore it. or laugh at it, if you’re an asshole like me.”

✷ – There was no point in speaking if she wasn’t going to help her. Casey stopped working and turned to stare back at the girl for a few seconds before turning and getting back to work. Her gaze focused in on the small gadget as she worked to put a few wires together, to bring light back into the screen. Chewing at the inside of her cheek, a smile soon spread across her face when it started to work once more. Setting down the small pair of tweezers, she got back to work with screwing the back onto the device. Remaining in her own world, more than happy that she was able to fix it. .
