YFN POV
“I need it to be perfect.” She said frustrated and a little disheartened. She read through her notes again, skimming along with her finger.
A strong hand took hers and gently lowered it. She willingly fell into the comfort of Lucy’s deep, green eyes. “Little one, it is perfect. You’ve made sure of that.”
“And the book-”
Lucy put her hand on the book to hold it down before she could pick it up and overanalyse every word. She paused to smile at the words on the front before she spoke. “The book too. Both are perfect.”
“I don’t know…”
“Don’t make me call Ridley.”
YFN crossed her arms at the threat. “Go on then.”
Lucy chuckled and shrugged, taking out her phone. She pressed call and put it on loud speaker, staring at YFN as if waiting to stop her. But she was stubborn, after all.
“Bronze. How’s doing?”
“I’m alright, just need your help with something. You busy?”
“I have a Spaniard between my legs, but go ahead.”
The sound of Alexia telling her off in the background was amusing. It sounded as if they were fighting over the phone before their faces popped up. They were clearly in the pool, Alexia lounging between Ridley’s legs and both very topless it seemed.
“We are swimming,” Alexia said in her cute Spanish accent. “Don’t listen to her.”
YFN chuckled. She always loved to see how happy they were. “I’m surprised to see you back already.”
“I missed home.” She said, exchanging a look with Alexia. “And I wasn’t lying but hey, we can Facetime you later on when it gets more sexual if you really want.”
“Riddlesss.” YFN warned to her cheeky grin.
“I’m jooooking. Christ. I’m a one woman type of girl. Voyeur elsewhere Bronze.”
“How the fuck did I get roped into this?!” Lucy defended.
The trio chuckled.
“What can I help you with?”
“YFN won’t stop trying to change the speech. She’s insisting it’s not perfect. I figured you’d have the right thing to say.”
Ridley shrugged nonchalantly. “Perfection is subjective.”
YFN’s mouth dropped open slightly. How had she not thought of that?
“And, before you start big-braining around whose perception of perfection is more important, just remember that you’re emotionally involved and biased having spoken to Mark and written both the book and your speech, so our perception is more pure. We are the audience, after all.” She got closer to the phone. “And baby… believe me when I say it’s perfect.”
She felt her lower lip tremble.
Ridley smiled at the look on her face. “That’s my girl. Now don’t you two have better things to be doing?”
“Speaking of perfect,” Lucy answered. “I do have the perfect day planned. First things first, I need you to put on this blindfold.”
“That is our time to leave.” Alexia said.
“Aw, sure we can't stay and watch?” Ridley asked.
“Goodbye you two.”
“See you tomorrow!” YFN said warmly.
The day was perfect, by any standard. Sex in the morning. A phone call with their friends. A surprise picnic in the park where they kicked around a football and then laid around, napping and reading their books. By the time the sun began to set, they packed their things back into the car and wandered hand in hand down towards the coast.
She’d been so distracted by their conversation and flirting that she hadn’t even realised where they were headed.
“So there’s the event and then the business afterparty, and then we can all catch up for food and drinks after while the footballers have a few days off..” she rambled, not knowing they’d stopped.
She looked up at Lucy who seemed to be smiling down at her, patiently listening and waiting for her to realise where they were. Turning, she saw the beach she’d met Jordan on. The exact same spot. The little alcove between the bushes, staring out over the sun setting.
“Oh, Luce…”
Lucy sat and pulled YFN down in between her legs, cradling her there. Taking in the moment, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath in and out. The sea breeze whipped a few strands of hair out of her messy bun, which Lucy tucked behind her ear. YFN opened her eyes to look at the last rays of daylight as the wind shifted. A storm was coming – she could feel it. She smiled and looked up at the darkening clouds. She loved the feeling of the darkness creeping in, and the storm. She was unsure whether it was the potential violence of it, or the uncertainty, but she still loved it nonetheless. She felt comfortable in that space. Leaning back, she felt the warm comfort of Lucy. How much things had changed..
She looked around the beach and saw nobody. Sparing a thought for Jordan then, and where she was now, made her smile. How good the country had been to her.
They stayed for an extended period, until the sun had fully set and the sky was overcast with dark, angry, yet comforting clouds.
“It’s getting cold, my girl.” Lucy murmured into her ear.
She nodded, having thought the same herself. “It’s time to go.”
They walked up the beach and ascended the stairs as the wind worsened. She turned to look one last time before they headed back towards their car. Halfway back it began raining suddenly. Large, heavy droplets of water soaked them in an instant, though they weren’t too concerned. Laughing, they ran to the closest shelter they could find.
Lucy grabbed her by the waist and backed her into the little alcove, her eyes darkening. Fuck, she looked good when she was wet.
Unable to resist, she reached up to tangle her fingers in her soaked hair and drag her head down to hers. It would never get old, kissing Lucy. She was talented in everything she did, including intimacy. She pressed her body up against her offering her no escape, something YFN obsessed over, and tilted her head to deepen the kiss. They tongues met and she moaned into the taller woman’s mouth. She tightened her grip on her jacket in response to Lucy’s thigh pressing up against her and Lucy moaned in return.
“F…fuck. Little one.” She gasped, pulling away slightly. “Not here, it’s too public.”
“You really want to stop?” She challenged, pressing herself harder against Lucy's thigh, rocking slightly into it as her mouth found the soft flesh under her chin and sucked.
Lucy groaned.
“Fuuuuck. More.”
YFN hummed at the power she had over her, rocking her hips and getting the pleasure she needed from the friction of rubbing against her.
“Arghhh.”
Her hand let go of her jacket and slipped down, taking Lucy’s and guiding it up under her own. Lucy didn’t need any guidance from there, her hand kneading her naked breast, thumb brushing over the peak.
“I need.. I..”
“Mmn, what do you need, Luce?”
“I need you.”
“Then take me home and have me.”
Lucy pulled back and seeing that look in her eyes, she knew just what the rest of their night held. “Mmn.” She looked around to make sure no one was looking, and realised the rain had eased off just slightly. “Let’s get home. I need you.”
Chuckling, the two disentangled and Lucy took a slight step back, waiting for YFN who was looking around with a sentimental expression.
“Luce?”
“Ready?”
“I… do you realise where we are?”
Lucy looked around confused and then it hit her. “Oh… it’s... where we met.” That first evening with Jordan, and the rain. “If only I’d known.”
“Known what, Luce?” She murmured with pure happiness at the significance of where they stood.
Lucy took her hand and raised it, kissing the gold band she was so proud of. “That I’d met my wife.”
JORDAN POV
Jordan was finishing the last of her stretches on the balcony outside their London apartment when Blu came bounding out from the kitchen to involve himself. He’d been running between the two of them, excitedly padding around with his short little legs, and was beginning to get tired.
Jordan felt his tongue lick her cheek and chuckled. She grabbed him and rolled into her back, raising him over her like he was Simba. He loved that. His little legs moved as if swimming and he shook with excitement.
Jordan sat up and cuddled him to her chest, giving him a kiss on the head and looked inside through the glass doors to where Leah was watching them with a smile and a spatula awkwardly in her hand. She wasn’t a cook by any means, though she was trying, and that’s all that mattered to Jordan.
The slightly older woman released him and he bounded back inside to his other mother. She was on cooking duties today, though Jordan was just about to go in and keep her company.
She rolled up her gym mat and stepped inside, putting it back in its place and wandering over to where the delicious smell was coming from.
“Need any help?” She asked.
Leah turned and gave that genuine smile of hers. “Want to keep my company?”
“Of course.”
Without a hesitation, Leah picked the smaller woman up and sat her down on the edge of the countertop. “You can just stay right there, then. I have this under control... I think.”
“It smells amazing.”
Leah stirred the pot and then stood with her back against Jordan’s chest. She didn’t hesitate to wrap her legs and arms around her, kissing her cheek a few times. “Those lessons have been coming in handy, it seems.”
“I still can’t believe you went and did that.”
Leah shrugged and turned to steal one of the cheek kisses with her lips. “It was for us. Of course I did.”
Jordan happily hummed and rested her chin against Leah’s slightly taller shoulder. “What is it?”
“Just this… us. It’s all very domestic.”
“Well I’d like to think so after we had to convert the third bedroom into our closet.”
Jordan chuckled. “Hey, my place isn’t much better. Lucky YFN is living in London full-time with Lucy now – her room has almost more clothes than this one! She barely has room when she stops in for a few nights.”
“God, I just want to live with you already.” Leah grumbled, turning and resting her forehead against her collarbone. Being the only person who Leah let comfort her was not lost on Jordan. “Why can’t we have that?”
“One more season..” Jordan reminded, reassuringly stroking her back. “And then I’ll move to London.”
“Just let me move there, Jord.” Leah almost pleaded. It wasn’t the first time.
“I’d never let you choose me over Arsenal. It’s one year.. what’s one more season?”
Leah groaned, ditching the spatula to wrap her arms around her. “One more season away from my wife.”
A shiver ran down her spine. She loved when she called her ‘wife.’ It was even better than seeing it around social media. Leah and Jordan Williamson-Nobbs. They’d decided to hyphenate rather than choose like their friends.
“I’ve already begun to do some work with YFN.. can you give me one more season?”
Leah pulled back to study her. “Of course. Of course. I don’t mean to pressure you at all, I’m just being needy.”
Jordan draped her hands over her shoulder. “I love it when you’re needy.”
“Yeah?” She whispered, kissing her softly. Just tasting…
“One more season with a Christmas holiday in amongst it... this time with your folks. And as for the neediness, I say we Facetime more and pay your therapist extra.”
“Poor girl.” Leah chuckled.
“Until then, let’s make the most of it...” Jordan mumbled, pulling her close. Leah grabbed at Jordan’s oversized clothes, tugging her to the edge of the bench and sliding her hands under to feel her. Their mouths connected and as they did so, Jordan smelled burning. Looking over Leah’s shoulder, she saw the pot begin to bubble over the edge.
This wasn’t exactly unusual, even when Leah was watching it.
Instead of telling her, she smiled into her mouth and let herself enjoy the taste and feel of her for a few more seconds, knowing their night would probably end like it usually did…. with takeaway.
ALEXIA POV
Alexia dodged left to avoid an incoming Mapi. She used her body to protect the ball from Ona before dodging right and kicking to Caroline on the far side. With the defenders' attention now away from her, she chased forward quickly, pushing her legs to outrun them as she pointed to the spot where she wanted it.
Alexia yelled for the ball. Caroline kicked. The ball came directly to where she’d pointed of course, unimpeded even by Ona sliding through. Alexia’s boot connected exactly where she’d wanted it to, left foot and straight into the top right corner. Cata leapt and missed by barely an inch.
Perfect.
Alexia felt the grin lighting up her face at that glorious sound of the ball hitting the back of the net. The final whistle blew just as it did so and before she could really react properly, her training team swarmed around, all trying to get a piece of her. She usually didn’t let her team celebrate her too hard, but this felt special.
Everything was good.
“Yes, Alexia!” Keira yelled from behind her as she grabbed her.
“LA REINAAAAA!” Patri yelled into her ear far too loudly.
She felt her body being shook from every direction and tried to let herself enjoy it for once.
“That’s it for today!” Pere called to the team. “Well done to Alexia’s team. Go enjoy your event and I’ll see you all on Monday.”
The girls gave their thanks in amongst the celebrations, as the rest of the team came over to congratulate them.
“You want to take my trophies away again, huh?” Aitana joked.
“God, you shot so quick,” Ona smiled, genuinely happy for her friend.
She heard a person whistling in celebration and rolled her eyes. “Okay okay, enough celebrating now.” Alexia said, yet unable to stop her grin.
“Oh, that wasn’t us,” Mapi teased, jerking her head towards the sidelines.
Alexia’s heart jumped as she looked over and spotted Ridley sitting on the fence. She was back, and looking as relaxed as ever with Alexia’s sunglasses on, her legs slightly spread and a proud looking smile on her face as she watched from afar patiently with Chiquito sitting by her side.
Alexia tried to ignore the teasing from her group. Chiquito looked up at Ridley and then back to Alexia in a sort of question.
“Chiquito!” Alexia called.
He didn’t need to be called twice. The little, fluffy grey cat abandoned his spot to trot over to where Alexia and the girls were standing. She bent down to pick him up, saying her hellos before he was kidnapped by the rest of team. He’d become somewhat of a team mascot, having been around them all so often.
Alexia smiled as she watched him share the love and attention of the girls around, though her attention was now elsewhere as her feet took her towards her Australian.
As she reached her, she parted her legs further with her hands, her palms sliding up the bare skin of Ridley’s thighs and wrapping around her back. She tried to withhold the urge to groan at the comfort of it. Of her.
Her warmth. Her smile. Her touch. Alexia’s home. Ridley held her softly, leaning her head against Alexia’s and presumably watching the girls play with Chiquito over her shoulder.
“Congratulations, my girl.” She murmured in Catalan. “Amazing, as always.”
Alexia hummed against her, happy that she’d seen it. She’d never been the type to be too publicly affectionate, though that had shifted slightly with her relationship with Ridley, especially after their headline-making event with Bashir. Now she wanted to be near her wherever she was. It was such a strange, lovely feeling to have her on the sidelines at games, sitting amongst her family, and at training, talking to her teammates.
“You’re back..” she murmured into her, happy that she didn’t have to wait until that night to see her.
“Mmn. I saw an opportunity to come home earlier and I took it.”
That sent a nice shiver up Alexia’s spine for multiple reasons. Not only the fact that she’d called her ‘home’ but that she’d left her military family who she was so close to, just to come home earlier to her.
Alexia squeezed a little harder before pulling back to see her face. Ridley moved her sunglasses to the top of her head and tucked the sweaty strands of Alexia’s now more brunette looking hair behind her ears. She looked at the scar the bullet had left her with, cutting from just above her eyebrow and disappearing into her hairline. It was now a faded pink colour and looking less aggressive every day. She reached up to stroke it with her thumb, forever grateful that it hadn’t been deeper.
Ridley let her play with it, closing her eyes as Alexia’s thumb moved down and across the one on her cheek. She caught her hand as it reached her jaw and turned her head to kiss the pad of her thumb, and then her thumb, palm, wrist.
“Ready to go home?”
Before she could answer, the girls came over. “What time are you picking us up tomorrow?” Keira asked, handing Chiquito back to Alexia.
“Will we be flying in the Barca plane you bought for us?” Patri interjected.
“First of all, the bus will pick you all up from here at 9am. Secondly… Alexia wouldn’t let me buy anything. Barca has a long-term lease on that plane from my company instead.”
She pouted as if she were unhappy, but she’d still managed to work her way around the problem, of course. Alexia’s stomach fluttered at the cocky look in her eyes.
“But no..” Ridley continued and then chuckled. “No, we’ll be in something much faster and less conspicuous. Management don’t exactly want unnecessary trips while Lucy and Mariona’s faces are still on the plane.”
“You’d think they would have planned ahead.”
“It’s not like I didn’t warn them..” she murmured cheekily. “But never mind that, I’m here to take this one off your hands.”
“At least let her shower first!” Ona exclaimed as a few more of the girls came over.
Alexia stayed quiet as usual and turned to Ridley who looked her up and down with a smirk. “I think I’ll shower her myself at home.”
She rolled her eyes, having expected her to say something similar. “Do you mind waiting? It’s been a really hot day and I want to get these sweaty clothes off me as soon as I can.”
Ridley looked her up and down, seeming to enjoy the enjoying the ‘sweaty clothes’ and gave her a calm but hungry look. Like she hadn’t seen her in a week. Which was about accurate. “I’d wait forever for you.”
Alexia tried to hide her smirk and ignore the teasing noises from her teammates as she took a step back. She was eager to get showered and back home with her. As she’d expected, Ridley moved to follow, sliding off the fence and entering her personal space again. She was slightly taller which meant Alexia had to look up to see that smirk of hers.
A week was the longest they’d been apart since before the island. She could barely keep her hands off her now let along the thought of when they finally got home.
The group made their way into the changing rooms for their showers. Alexia forced herself to go slowly, knowing how frustrating it would be for Ridley, and even though she was annoyingly good at hiding it, Alexia was slowly getting to know her little tells of frustration and impatience. The shifting of her weight onto one foot, the clasped or pocketed hands as if to hold them back from reaching, her head tilt to overcompensate and remind herself to slow down.
Alexia checked herself in the steamed mirror one more time and dropped the towel in the basket as she left the showers. She walked into the changing rooms to see an array of her half-naked teammates all in different stages of dressing and talking. Her eyes found her locker and below it was Ridley sitting calmly, her eyes on Chiquito alone as he sat on the table in the middle of the room with multiple people patting him. The small smile on her face showed how proud she was of him.
Alexia’s first step into the room was met with was Ridley’s eyes flicking to her. Her head tilted as she looked her up and down. Regardless of how turned on she was, she knew the one thing they both wanted more than anything. A hug. She guessed her need to touch and show love was that Spanish side of her, but for Ridley it was different. She wasn’t necessarily a touchy person, unless it was with Alexia. It seemed to be growing on her as a comfort, and so it was never a thing that the Spaniard shoved aside or refused.
Alexia walked right up to the Australian, her knees in between her own and leant over her completely as she put her clothes away. She felt Ridley chuckling into her chest as she did so, gently grasping the backs of her thighs as if to hold her there.
“Ready to go home?” Alexia mimicked from earlier, looking down at her.
Ridley held up Alexia’s car key. “I’ll drive.”
“9am sharp!” Ridley called out to the girls as she drove off.
Alexia reached out to play with her hair as Ridley pet Chiquito who was curled up in her lap.
“He missed you..” she murmured.
“I missed you both.”
“Will you need to go back soon?”
“The team will handle the clean up, Lex. There’s no talk of needing me back anytime soon.”
Alexia hummed happily at that until she spotted a gash with dried blood behind Ridley’s ear. She inspected it with her fingertips. Before she could speak, Ridley did.
“I wasn’t on the front line, Lex, I promise. Wombat got a little too carried away with the working out.” She said calmly, making Alexia chuckle at the image. Since the incident with Bashir, she’d promised to not go front line again unless it was absolutely necessary for her team, or others. “Besides, you already know this. I know you and Duce talk behind my back. What a rat.”
“I like her.”
“She’s just trying to stay in your good books. They’re still getting used to knowing a bit of my personal side.”
“A bit?”
She rolled her eyes. “The biggest part of my personal side.”
“I’m very likeable, you know.”
“Jesus, I’m back for thirty minutes and I’m already copping it.”
“Of course. Someone needs to remind you that not everything is about you.”
Ridley’s mouth dropped open slightly which amused Alexia to no end. She loved every time she surprised her. It was rare.
Before she could get her composure, Alexia reached over and closed her mouth for her.
Ridley’s jaw twitched in amusement and she shook her head. “You’re a pain, you are.”
“You wouldn’t like me so much if I were easy.” She shrugged. “And besides, I’m your pain.”
She hummed in agreement. “That you are. And just to be clear, I’m not surprised you two like each other.”
“It doesn’t bother you at all..?”
“Honestly? The opposite.” She pulled up in front of Ridley’s house which they now shared, and turned to her. Alexia fell into those dark eyes of hers gladly and tightened the hold she had on her thigh. “It doesn’t bother you that I talk to your family often?”
Although she’d been hesitant at first, Ridley had eventually slipped into the fold of the family. It was a bit impossible not to with them, especially after they’d bombarded her at Christmas. “The opposite.”
After they’d made up for a week apart, the pair had spent the rest of their day snacking by the pool. It had been incredible to have a longer pool for the rehab and recovery of her knee back to a solid form. Ever since, she’d made it a habit to do pool workouts a few times a week. Ridley usually watched, sitting and reading a book or playing with a guitar as she did so. She’d been interested and invested in her rehabilitation and everything that went into it.
Ridley was also getting used to being in a relationship. Allowing herself to love and be loved. The island had been a start, but Alexia had known that. She’d never complained, though. They’d always communicated their needs and fears, no matter how difficulty, and were growing together.
It meant a lot less independence, and more teamwork. Less decision and more compromise. This included Ridley adjusting to become more physical. Able to touch, instead of look respectfully from afar. This meant pushing aside that military side of her which needed her hands free. Learning to be the one to initiate contact. To get used to sleeping with that warmth and skin to skin contact.
It also meant that as Alexia sat at the shallow end of the pool, Ridley could come up behind her, dipping her legs into the cool water either side of the Spaniard and cradle her arms around her, stroking her arms with her fingertips, her neck with her mouth.
Both of them had been rather hesitant with it – the worry of falling too deep – though they’d both had a realisation on the night that Bashir had died as to just how far they were in it already. There was no safety net now. They were all in, together.
“It’s almost 4pm,” Ridley murmured in Catalan as her lips explored along her cheek.
Alexia didn’t answer, because she was more than happy right there instead. She kept her eyes closed, head tilted back as she enjoyed the feel of Ridley everywhere. She could feel herself getting wet, even in the water, and her nipples hardening almost to the point of pain.
“Alexia,” she said again, this time in a more warning tone. Her movements stopped and she covered her cold nipples with her palms. The warmth was glorious. “Your interview.. and I don’t like how cold you’re getting.”
She opened her eyes and realised that the sun had set so low that they were fully covered in shade.
Alexia finished with her interview after an hour and wandered through their large house, in search of Ridley. Although it was very comparable to the way it was when she’d first moved in, due to their similar tastes, it now held pieces of herself also. Jerseys and trophies and sentimental pieces here and there. It felt more like them together, rather than just one of them.
She checked by the pool, the office, her art studio, the library, their bedroom. She checked her bedside table for the passport she’d need the next day and found it exactly where she’d left it, with Ridley’s note tucked into it. Smiling, she put it back and turned to see Chiquito at the door. He must have been spending time with her, as he’d missed her the past week.
“Take me to her…”
Ever the intelligent cat, he turned and led Alexia to the last place she could be if she was still in the house.
There by herself in the darkened studio, was Ridley. Her headphones were around her neck, her hand resting on a keyboard and eyes closed as she listened to the track back, presumably checking a note or lyric. It sounded perfect to Alexia. Something she hadn’t heard before. If she had to describe it, it would be… obsession, and adoration.
Although it was dark, she could still see the silhouette of her face, the emotions written across it as it slightly changed with each part of the song.
Just before it ended, Ridley opened her eyes as if she knew she was there. Her lips tilted up at the confirmation and watched Alexia as she listened to the end of the song with her. From the look on her face, she didn’t even need to ask what the song was about.
It was hers.
YFN POV
YFN shook with nerves as her Lumos team introduced her to the stage. She looked at the clicker in her left hand and the notes in her other, pausing as she decided to leave the latter behind. She knew what she wanted to say.
She walked onto the stage accepting the applause as it rang through the crowd.
“Really good job up there.” She praised her team as they passed each other. They gave her proud smiles and “good lucks” as she took centre stage and stopped to take a breath.
She pressed the clicker and turned to see the new company logo once again adorning the screen.
“We here at Lumos began with so much drive and passion that we forgot to introduce ourselves. Tonight, we remedy that. Good evening, my name is YFN, and it’s my honour to be the first to introduce you to Lumos – the first women’s sports media titan.” She took another breath to steady her heart. “When we started twelve months ago, we had one goal: to change the narrative, to give women’s sports the recognition, respect and platform it deserves and tonight, I’m proud to say we’ve taken our first bold steps and accomplished what no one has before. Lumos is now the primary media outlet for women’s football, covering all the top leagues across the globe with plans to expand into all women’s sports in the future. This is just the beginning, but what a beginning it has been!”
She paused to hear that warm, encouraging applause filling the room. Her gaze briefly met Lucy’s proud look in the crowd which steadied her, as well as Alexia and Ridley’s. Ridley being proud of her meant more than she realised and she felt so supported, surrounded by the people she loved most.
“Tonight, we want to share our story with you – not just where we’ve been, but where we’re going. You’ll see the heart of Lumos – our culture, aspirations, and our commitment to innovation and inclusion. You’ll see our platforms, culture, charity and philanthropic initiatives. But for now, more than anything, you’ll see the power of collaboration. This moment, and everything leading up to it, would not have been possible without the extraordinary women who live and breathe the game. Female footballers, and their fans from around the world have trusted us with their stories, their triumphs, their challenges. Their voices have shaped what we are unveiling tonight, and their courage continues to inspire everything we do.”
She paused to look at Mark, his cheek twitching as he realised who she was referring to. She softened her tone as she continued at that heart of her message.
“Lumos is more than a media company. It’s a mission. And at the core of that mission is a promise to shine a light on every untold story, to give a platform to the overlooked, and to honour the dreams and passions of those who came before us. At the heart of Lumos stands a charity dedicated to the legacy of a young girl who shared the same passions and dreams as we do. Her legacy is our promise: to stand for hope, inclusion and possibility.”
She let the weight of her words linger as the room fell into a deeper silence. Then, with quiet strength, she began her conclusion.
“And to begin our journey, comes the launch of our book… a prequel of our life so far, if you will. It is a reflection of the journey we’ve all taken together. From the friendships, to the love stories, football, the headline-making incidents, footballers, and to the charity at the heart of us. This book is about believing in the power of possibility, about working for something greater than ourselves. We’re here because we believe women’s sports can inspire and unite the world because women too, deserve the spotlight.”
She pressed the clicker in her hand and saw the screen behind her reflecting on the crowd and it were as if the world slowed as they stood to cheer. She took as much of it in as she could, appreciating the moment and all of the hard work she’d put into making the moment what it was. Her eyes flickered over the people in the crowd from Lumos who had made it possible, over Kate and a still unsuspecting William as he clapped for a company he had no idea his wife had created. She looked over the footballers, Katie, Caitlin, Kyra, footballers from Arsenal, Barcelona, and such. Alexia and Ridley were sat at the front with proud smiles alongside Lucy who was clapping loudest of all. She chuckled lightly at that and tried to hold back her tears.
After she took it all in, she smiled and turned to the giant screen behind her which was illuminated with a simple title: Sunsets and Footballers by YFN Bronze.

Connected (Bang Chan) part 2
Pairing: BangChan x fem reader
wc: 2.2k
warnings: none
summary: angsty - slow burn of Chan and fem reader. Chan runs into his past, how will it affect the present and his future?
This is NOT the first part!!! Here is part 1
-----
“Hyung, what do you mean you’re going to make a new solo song?!” Han sits up from the couch, “Would the company even allow that? We’re supposed to release this album literally this year.”
Chan leans back into his chair and grabs at his hair, “I just don’t feel like my song is as…it just doesn’t fit the vibe that I want it to give.”
Han put his hands onto his face, clearly stressed.
“Why don’t you like ‘Roads’?” Changbin swivels his chair around to look at Chan, “I think it’s good and the lyrics are good?”
‘Roads’ was Chan’s song that he wrote for stays, it’s his solo song in the SKZ-Replay album.
“I just don’t feel like I spent as much time on the song as you guys did with yours. Literally everyone has deeper meaning to their own songs, even Lino!”
Han looks up and turns to Changbin, “He has a point there. Lee know hyung isn’t one to be emotional and then he literally wrote 나지막이 (limbo).“
“Besides, the company will probably allow me to change it, it’s only June and we’re releasing it in December.” Chan sits back up, “And I’ll just release ‘Roads’ if I don’t come up with anything.”
Han shrugs at Changbin. Now it’s Changbin’s turn to lean back into his chair, “Why not. It’s not like we’re going to be able to change your mind.”
Chan starts packing up his things, “Good.”
“Where are you going?” Han questions his sudden movements.
“We’re done here… so I’m going?” he says as he places his laptop into his bag.
Another shared glance between Han and Changbin, a state of confusement since their hyung is never first to leave.
“Look I’ll meet you guys back at the dorm.” giving a peace sign before exiting the room, leaving Han and Changbin baffled.
----
You have arrived, announces the car’s GPS.
Chan parks on the street outside of a building, Connections, a cafe. Chan looks at the outside before entering, he hasn’t been here in years.
----
“Yeah, I’m gonna surprise him at the ice skating rink,” You say while getting in the car, “He doesn’t know that I came back during spring break.”
“I can’t believe you flew back for him, don’t you ever learn your lesson,” your friend announces after your phone connects to your car.
“Look it’s been rough between us for a while and I want to clear things up, I feel like we just need to see each other and things will go back to normal.” You turn on the car, “Jihyo, I know you’ve never liked him but you didn’t even give him a chance!”
You can hear a sigh on the end of the line, “Whatever babe, I love you. I’ll be back home later tonight.”
You return an I love you and end the call.
----
“How long do you want to pay for?” an employee asks.
You check your watch, 11:30am, “I’ll stay for 2 hours.”
As you sit down and put on your skates you check your phone to see your boyfriend’s location, he’s been here for 30 minutes already.
You remember he said that he was planning on going ice skating with his friends today when you had called him last night, and since you didn’t know how to surprise him, why not here while he’s with his friends…?
The ice skating rink is filled with people, so you look before getting on the ice to see if you can see your boyfriend. You see him, wearing one of the jackets you had bought him, and warmth rushes to your cheeks.
As you step onto the ice you start towards him, the rink is quite large so you decide to call out to him, “Jae-”
You stop yourself once you see someone slide into him. A girl. Maybe it’s just an accident, you tell yourself. Jaebum, your boyfriend, wraps his arms around her, hugging her. You stop skating towards him, watching from a distance as he laughs and kisses her forehead.
Your heart stops, as your eyes follow the girl as she gets off the rink and walks towards the restroom.
You don’t even realize you're following her until, “Your hair is so cute!”, you say.
“Ah, thank you!” the girl blushes as she touches up her short black hair in the mirror, “I love your long hair, it's gorgeous!”
“You and your boyfriend look so cute together,” you take out your lip oil, what am I doing?
The girl notices your lip oil, “Omg I have that one too!” as she takes out the dior lip oil to show you, “yeah, he’s actually not my boyfriend…yet!”
You turn to her, heart breaking since she’s so sweet, “oh really?”, from your intuition, you know she doesn’t know you, she seems like a good girl.
“He’s taken me on a few dates here and there, but I haven’t decided if I want him to be my boyfriend,” she leans in to whisper, “he is just a bit older than me, haha.”
You pretend like you don’t know that and gasp, “Omg how old is he, how old are you?”
“He's only 3 years older than me, I’m 24.” she smiles.
“Me too!” you exclaim, suddenly all you want to do is scream at Jaebum.
“Well it was wonderful meeting you!” you say before waving bye and quickly exiting.
You spot Jaebum on the ice talking to one of his friends. As you get on the ice, his friend spots you before he could, “Y-Y/n?”
Jaebum turns around, color slowly leaves his face, “Y-y/n! What are you doing here!” He pretends to act excited as he looks around.
“Surprise!” you act, forcing your whole body to hug him back when he hugs you, it makes you want to throw up.
“What are you doing here?” he asks again breathlessly, “shouldn’t you be overseas?”
“Wouldn’t you like that,” you say under your breath before looking up at him, “Jagi, you’re wearing the jacket I got you! It looks so good!”
As you pretend to check him out in his jacket he starts to panic, “Aren’t you tired? You’re probably tired, you should go home and rest. I’ll bring dinner tonight!”
You stop and hold his hand, “omg jagi, I was in the restroom and I met the sweetest girl! You have to meet her.”
At that moment whatever color was left on his face left, it looked like his soul left his body, “jagi,” he starts, you wince at the nickname.
“Jaebum?” The voice behind you makes you smile.
You turn and look at the girl, on her face is pure confusement, you see her look at you holding his hand. Jaebum quickly wiggles his hand out of yours, your heart breaks a little.
“Miyeon-ah.” Jaebum takes place in between you both, “Look, I can explain.”
“Miyeon… what a cute name,” you sadly smile before looking at Jaebum, “I saw you hold her.”
“J-jagi, I didn’t mean it,” Jaebum puts his hands up.
“Jagi?” Miyeon questions, her face trying to put the pieces together, “Are you guys dating?”
You look at Jaebum waiting for him to answer her but he just stays silent, “Jaebum was my boyfriend.”
“Was?” Jaebum looks at you, but you’re still looking at Miyeon as she realizes the situation.
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t know he was in a relationship.” Miyeon’s face drops, “I should leave.”
“No don’t,” Jaebum then turns to her, “can I explain?”
“Please don’t, you have nothing to explain to me.”  Miyeon replies before she waves to you and skates off.
Jaebum just watches her leave, “Y/n, I didn’t mean it, we were just good friends.”
You scoff at his words. You see his friend Jackson turn away not even believing him because he’s clearly in the wrong.
“How long?” That's all you wanted to ask, that’s all you wanted to know, maybe.
“Y/n please.” Jaebum takes your hands into his.
“How long, Jaebum.”
“I only took her on 5 dates. It started in June. It’s only been a month.”
“Only?” you look at him slightly hurt, “we’ve been dating for almost year and you’re gonna throw it away to have some fling?”
“I didn’t plan on getting that close to her, Y/n. you have to believe me.” Jaebum waves Jackson off to go elsewhere, “It was just a little lonely for me, you’re all the way overseas doing your stuff and you’re always busy nowadays.”
You pull your hands from his, “you’re blaming you cheating on me being busy?”
“That’s not what I’m trying to say, Jagi. I just want to say I’m sorry and that we can move on from this and grow stronger.” Jaebum holds your shoulders, “I didn’t mean to kiss her, it was always out of stress and loneliness, I just really missed you.”
“Kis– Jaebum don’t touch me.” you step away from him.
Jaebum moves to try to hug you, but his bracelet on his wrist starts going off notifying that his time on the ice is over.
“Look, do you want to go somewhere else and talk about this? Let’s try not to make a scene.” Jaebum sees Jackson getting off the ice, trying to move towards the exit.
“Make a scene? Seriously.”
“You know that’s not what I meant.”
You look at Jaebum, then check the time, you still have 45 minutes left before your time is up, “You should go.”
Jaebum looks at you, then his bracelet, “text me whenever you’re ready okay? I love you.”
You cringe at those words, yet watch his back as he heads out to leave in sadness, not wanting him to go.
---
You’re in shock as you skate alone around and around the rink, trying to waste your time. You get a notification from your phone, Jihyo:
I get off a little late today, so I’ll bring some food home ;P
You decide to text her and tell her what happened, when you hear a voice say, “Bin I’m actually gonna leave you, you’re embarrassing me.”
This wakes you up from your deluded thoughts, and you stare at the two people who happened to be in front of you, one gripping onto the wall and the other, slightly taller than the other, blonde hair peeking out under his beanie.
“Chan?” you hear yourself whisper.
But you’re completely drowned out by another boy taller than them both coming by to completely push the one gripping onto the wall. As he’s desperately trying not to fall, that's when you hear it.
Chan’s laugh. The sweetest and most contagious laugh you’ve ever heard, it makes your heart ache yet feel so warm.
The laugh distracts you from your thoughts so well that it also distracts you from reality, you’re able to snap out of it, when you’re suddenly hit and falling to the ground.
“Ouch,” you grab onto your wrist that you fell on.
Your nose is suddenly filled with the scent of his cologne, bringing back memories you did not want to feel right now. Feelings starting to worsen your current heartbreak with a past heartbreak.
He starts, as he rushes to get up and off of you, “I'm so sorry. I am truly so sorry.” He stretches out his hand for you, “are you okay?”
Does he not recognize me? You wonder as you start to get up using the wall, “You don’t have to apologize, it’s okay.”
Chan tries to make eye contact with you, “Do you need help or do you need anything?”
This is embarrassing, he’s the exact same as before. His actions start to irritate you, “”N-no, it’s really okay.”
I’m done here. This is the worst day ever. You’re thinking as you skate off.
You walk and text Jihyo, Jaebum cheated on me and I just literally ran into Chan.
You find your shoes and start taking off your skates. Your phone’s notification starts to go off, thinking it’s from Jihyo you pick it up, instead it’s from Jackson.
Hey y/n, look I know we’re not the closest, but I just wanted to say that I didn’t know you guys were even dating still. Jaebum told me and the guys that you guys broke up a little after you flew back to the States. I’m sorry that he’s been lying to you. - Jackson
This makes your eyes start to water, you’re not sure whether to be angry, hurt or –
“Hi I’m the guy who fell into you earlier”
5 years Chan, trust me I know you.
“I really am sorry about that, I just want to make sure you’re okay.”
You scoff at his words, they’re so familiar, “You want to make sure I’m okay?”
“Um yes,” hesitation in his voice, “I just want to know if I hurt you badly and you’re just hiding it.”
Hearing this from your ex is not the best feeling. Especially when he doesn’t even remember you, or does he? So you decide to make eye contact with him, feeling pathetic yet angry as you still have tears in your eyes, “No Chan, don’t worry you didn’t hurt me at all.”
His face suddenly drops, from the nice guy act he was playing, as he steps back a little he questions, “Shit, Y/n?”
“Sorry you might’ve forgotten me, my bad.” You stand up and brush his shoulder as you walk out.
author's note: OKAY so I think I'll release every day until this story is done, around 10-11 pm PST time 👍 I'm not entirely sure honestly but I'll try to be active as long as people want more 🙏

yknow what i want for fk? more shows. PUT THEM IN INSANE HET SHOWS I BEG 😭 no more one bl a year i need them in a show in every part gmmtv announces shows in. i would literally pay for home school 2 for insane khao. i would pay gmmtv for insane first in a show. LET THEM PLAY INSANE CHARACTERS. FOR MY MENTAL HEALTH.
gmmtv's het shows are so underrated because those things are way more unabashedly queer even compared to a lot of bl's they produce <- preaching like im from the missionary of 'gmmtv het show are gay af' alliance
(i just love the het shows and will take any moment to talk about it. like yea ofc theres stupid ones but some of them are just so fucking good and made with so much love and passion and its so visible and it makes me so soft 🥺)
- burnsuncomet (they should really let me ask stuff from my sideblog smh 😔)
Go on. Tell me more about what het shows you like from GMMTV (and why you like them). And tell me what ideas do you want for your het shows for FK?
I personally enjoyed Home School (so I am definitely on board with Khaotung versus Gun for season 2!) , Midnight Museum, Enigma (for a horror show, this pack a lot more than just good special effects) and the currently airing Peaceful Property (which we are still debating whether it’s BL or not 😂).
And I cannot stress enough how much 55:15 Never Too Late is such an underrated gem (yes it has a side BL featuring our own Khaotung who nailed his role as SongPol/Paul) but my other fav storyline in that show was View’s character and the friendship between Paul and Piploy’s character.
I didn’t mind Summer nights but I got terribly bored by Phuwin (and whoever his love interest was) - and really just perked up when Dunk’s character White and Lookjun interacted.
And if you are asking me what het shows I’m looking forward from GMMTV - Hide & Sis (it has Jan, Piploy and Lookjun plus Chimon playing a sleaze ball? - sign me up!)
But I’m digressing - we are talking about FK hehe. I admit I was disappointed when they only have one project for 2024, which has yet to air 🥲 (especially after getting spoilt with 3 shows from them in 2023 😩).
I think FK is under utilised by GMMTV (but then again, don’t we all say the same when talking about our own bias CPs?) - I want them to be in reality show, talk shows, V-log ANYTHING really beyond just one BL cause they have so much potential (we are definitely in agreement with this. Although it’s of course not feasible to have everything for the boys cause they will burnout otherwise 🙂‍↕️). But we can all dream yeah?
Anyway, I thought this user from Twitter has the cutest idea ever for their YT content 👇🏽 (credit on the screenshot)
Tumblr media
(Or I take the boys going camping together with us watching them cook and playing guitar and toasting marshmallows by the campsite)
In my alternate reality where FK gets to act more than one BL per year, these are my pick for hetero show/concept with FK in it:
The currently aired “The Judge from Hell”, k-drama starring Park Shin Hye and Kim Jae Young. I want a Thai remake - with Piploy as the devil in the judge’s body (she plays beautiful evil/anti-hero well! - her performance in Enigma was a good example of this) and First as our dutiful cop who joined force (literally selling his soul) to the devil after his mother figure got killed by a serial killer who also killed his birth parents. We know First can play tortured and devastation well, but truly seeing him fight to keep his morality? - 🤌 (also First already looks like a Korean movie star, so he will fit in well! Plus not going to lie - a tall First having to lean down on tiny Piploy while they bicker and fall in love 🤭 (these 2 have quite the chemistry in The Shipper)
As for Khaotung (we already mentioned Home School), but if I want to see him in a hetero couple - it will be with Ciize. These 2 were wholesome together in Tonhon Chonlatee (the show has flaws, but I still enjoyed it and Khaotung/Ciize being besties in that show was one of the highlights for me!)
And again, I’m borrowing this from one of my favourite k-drama, Happiness (2021) featuring Park Hyung-Sik and Han Hyo-Joo. Beyond just a zombie flick, it’s a commentary on social class but also the desperation and the length people go to when trapped with no where to go. Also, I won’t lie, I just want to see Khaotung (now that he is so buff!) and Ciize (despite her tiny frame) being badass with guns- it also has a sweet romance line between the main characters 😂
And bonus - if I can make my own FK-centric drama:
I want them to play cross-lovers in the past but one of them was a woman.
They both reincarnated - the woman’s soul now in one of the boys (I haven’t quite figure out who I want to play this role between them 🤣). This soul remembers his previous life and lover but avoids trying to look for him (cause you know, she is now a he and thought his previous lover is straight)
While the other person - knows he is missing someone, he has a deep yearning for this one person. However, he can’t remember the face or really anything beyond vague flashbacks except he knows it is a she. So he keeps looking at girls of course not finding the one. Meanwhile, fate (of course) made them meet and they keep avoiding trying to not fall in love but fail 🤷🏽‍♀️. I have even thought of what jobs these boys could have, the side characters 🤣…but alas, this will stay in delulu land (and yes, if you think the plot sounds vaguely familiar, it likely is! Cause I just pick all the plots/tropes I like and meshed it up!)

Lost & Found (4)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Baekhyun x Reader
Word Count: 2.1k
Part One | Part Two | Part Three
“Daddy!” Jaehyun screams, running into Baekhyun's arms. Everyday, no matter where you were or who was home first, Baekhyun was the one that Jaehyun was the most excited to see. It made you sad that you needed to leave this house, this life that you had built but Jaehyun was your first priority and you would do anything you needed to keep him safe.
“How was your day buddy?” Baekhyun asks Jaehyun as the three of you walk into the house.
“I had so much fun!” He says. Baekhyun puts him down as you set down your purse.
“Jae, why don't you go play in your room?” You half smile at him. He runs off to his room without a thought.
“What's up?” Baekhyun asks you. “Somethings wrong.”
“San.. he um showed up at the daycare. He tried to take Jaehyun but he wasn't on the list. He told Jae to tell me he'll see me soon. We need to leave.” You sniffle. You could feel the tears pooling in your eyes as Baekhyun looks at you. “I would never ask you to leave your life here but I love you and I want you to be with us, but I don't think we have a choice.” You whisper. You're shaking, trying to figure out what the fuck you're going to do.
“Baby.” Baekhyun starts. “You always have a choice but I'd hope by now you'd realize I'm in it for the long haul. You wanna stay and fight him, I've got your back. If you wanna pack the house up tonight and go somewhere far away I'm in. Whatever makes you feel safest I'm down.” He smiles. Baekhyun holds onto your hands as he looks into your eyes. You want to run, but would that really solve anything?
That night as you tossed and turned in your bed, you had finally made your decision.
You were going to stay put for now, but you didn't want to let San intimidate you anymore. You were stronger than you were when you were with him and you'd never let him get his hands on your son. Unfortunately for you, you severely underestimated the lengths he was willing to go too.
The next day, you were prepared for San to pull something, but nothing came. You went to work, Jaehyun went to daycare and the day went on without a hitch. The next day was the exact same. Your anxiety never calmed, because you knew San and you knew what he was capable of. Which was anything. The next day, Wednesday, the day went by as it usually did, until your phone began to ring. You checked the caller ID and there was the daycare calling. Your stomach sank. Your hand shook as you answered, whispering the hello.
“Hi Y/N.” She says. “I don't mean to worry you, but Jaehyun had a little fall this afternoon. He's okay, he was checked out by the nurse and no concussion or anything like that. But he does have a pretty nasty goose egg on his forehead. I'm so sorry.”
The sigh of relief you let out was unreal. Of course you were upset your child was hurt, but you were just glad it had nothing to do with San.
“Thank you for letting me know. Is he okay? Should I grab him now?” you ask.
“It's up to you, he's okay, he has been asking for you though.” She answers.
“I'll come pick him up. Thank you for the call. See you soon.” You say, hanging up the phone before gathering your belongings. You quickly explain the situation to your boss and she of course has no issues with you leaving. You drove to the daycare and Jaehyun immediately ran into your arms, breaking down into tears.
“Oh my baby.” You coo. “should we go get some ice cream to help you feel better?” You ask. Jaehyun backs away from you, a giant smile on his face as he nods his head. You grab his hand and walk out to the car with your son.
A little bit later you're sitting on the bench, eating your ice cream as Jaehyun plays at the park. You're on the phone with Baekhyun while Jaehyun runs around the playground, and you're explaining to Baekhyun what happened to Jaehyun today, when your stomach drops. You see San walking up to Jaehyun on the other side of the swings.
“San is here, I gotta go.” You yell, hanging up the phone, dropping your ice cream and running to your son.
“Jaehyun, baby, let's go.” You say, picking him up. You glare at San as you turn to walk away and to your surprise San doesn't say anything or call after you. When you got home, Baekhyun was already standing on the driveway at home, waiting for the two of you. He quickly picks up Jaehyun, kissing his face all over, giving him all the sympathy for his head. You walk into the house listening to the giggling coming from your two favorite guys in the entire world. You had an early dinner and spent some time playing outside in the backyard until it was time to get ready for bed.
In the morning, the three of you woke up and Jaehyun would not leave your side. He wouldn't let you go to the bathroom on your own, get dressed, make breakfast. He cried at your feet when you talked to Baekhyun about work. You hated seeing him like this, so for today only, you called out of work so the two of you could have a mommy and son day. You both gave a kiss and a hug to Baekhyun, waving to him as he left for work and as the two of you were going to watch some cartoons, there's a few rapid knocks at the door. You keep Jaehyun in your arms as you answer the door.
“Good morning, my name is Jennie and I'm from Child Protective Services.” The lady says. Your eyes go wide.
“Excuse me?” You say. You're baffled, why the fuck would CPS be at your front door?
“We received a phone call from a concerned citizen yesterday about your son.” She says, motioning to Jaehyun. “We take these calls very seriously and have choice but to conduct an interview and do a home visit.”
“What did this concerned citizen say?” You ask. You already fucking knew who it was. You knew who was low enough to do this to you.
“Come on in, take a look around. I've got nothing to hide.” You say.
Jennie and two others walk into your home and begin searching around. She asks you a few questions about your home life, and then asks about Jaehyun's head.
“He fell at daycare yesterday.” You sigh. “They were playing outside, he tripped and fell, and hit his head on the edge of the slide.”
“So this wasn't you?” She asks.
You scoff. “Of course not. I would never hurt my son.”
She nods her head, writing in her book again.
“Well, I honestly don't see anything wrong here, there's no evidence of abuse or neglect here. I will have to confirm with the daycare about his head and it is standard protocol that there will be another surprise visit in the next month or so.” she explains.
“Of course. We've got nothing to hide here.” You smile.
“From the moment I walked in here I knew this was a bogus call. He sounded very angry on the phone and as you know, we have to make sure regardless.” she tells you.
“I completely understand. I appreciate your concern for my son but he is very very loved here.” You smile.
“You all have a great day and I'm very sorry about this.” She says as she and the two other men leave your house. You were going to fucking kill San.
You put Jaehyun down, and grab your phone to call Baekhyun.
“Hey babe.” He says, after the first ring.
“You'll never guess who was just fucking here.” You yell.
“San?” Baekhyun asks, you can feel his anger through the door.
“CP fucking S.”
“What the hell was CPS doing there?” He asks.
“They got a call from an anonymous citizen. Anonymous my fucking ass. I know it was him.”
“Who else could it have been?” He sighs. “What are you going to do?”
“I'm going to talk to him. Me and him, one on one. I'm going to take Jae to daycare and I'll pick him up a bit. Don't worry. I'll call you later. I love you.” You say, hanging up the phone.
“Come on buddy, let's go. Mommy has to talk to someone today.”
A little while later you're driving away from the daycare still fuming as you think about what San had done. That was one of the lowest things that man could have ever done. You drove and drove until you needed gas, and then you realized you had no idea where he lived. You didn't know where he worked, you honestly knew nothing about him right now. You pulled over into a gas station and went inside to pay for your gas and grab a drink. On your way out, you're staring at your car and it looks..funny. Slanted almost. As you get closer you realize that not one, not two but three of your tires are slashed.
“Are you fucking kidding me!?” You scream. If someone was in front of you, you would have beat the shit out of them.
“Hey! Y/N? Are you okay?” You hear from behind you. You turn around, and lucky for you, none other than San stands there, looking..worried.
“Did you fucking do this?” You spit, pointing to your car.
“What?” He asks, looking down to where you were pointing. “Your tires? No? Come on, Y/N you really think I would?’
“Yeah I really fucking do.” You snap. “Why the hell are you here?”
“I'm getting gas? It's a gas station.” He chuckles.
He wasn't wrong.
“Whatever. I need to call a tow truck.” You murmur, grabbing your phone. Before you can dial your phone begins to ring, a number you didn't recognize.
“Hello?” You answer.
“Is this L/N Y/N?”
“Yes?”
“This is doctor Kim from the hospital, we have a Mr. Byun Baekhyun here. He was in a very serious car accident and we need you to get here as soon as possible. He needs surgery but his emergency contact needs to sign.” He explains. Panic sets in. Your tires, you couldn't get there.
“A car crash? Surgery?” You cry. “I'll be right there.” You say, hanging up and trying to figure out the fastest way there. You glance at the time, 4:00pm. Your friends were all still at work, who could you call?
“Is everything okay?” San asks.
“Baekhyun was in an accident. I need to get to the hospital.” You say, tears welling in your eyes.
“I'll take you.” San offers. He puts his hands up as if to surrender. “I swear I'll drop you off at the front entrance and that's it.”
You hated that you didn't have a faster choice. You reluctantly agreed, following him to his car. You climb in, twiddling your thumbs as he pulls out of the gas station. You really hoped Baekhyun was okay.
BAEKHYUN POV
He sat in his car, thumbs tapping on the steering wheel as he sang along to his favorite songs on the radio. He glanced at the clock and groaned. 6:00pm, he hated when he was late going home, seeing you and Jaehyun was the best part of his day everyday.
His phone ringing startled him, until he realized it was you calling him.
“Hi baby.” He answers, smiling at just the thought of you.
“I can't do this anymore, Baekhyun.” You say. He frowns.
“Do what, love?” He asks.
“This. Us. I don't want to be with you anymore.”
“Y/N..” he starts.
“Don't.” You stop him. “I don't love you. I want to be with San. He's Jaehyun's dad and I want to be a family. A real family. He deserves to have his real parents raise him.”
“Y/N.” He says. “I am his dad. What are you talking about? Where is this coming from?”
“Stop it. You're not. You never will be. We're done. Don't contact me ever again.” You say, hanging up the call.
Baekhyun sits there, stuck in traffic, wondering what the fuck is going on. Just as he was about to try and call you, his phone rings.
“Y/N?” He answers.
“Hi, Mr. Byun. This is Renee from the daycare. It's been a little over an hour since we closed and Y/N still hasn't picked up Jaehyun and we can't get a hold of her..”
What the fuck was going on?

“I’ll play defense first!” He yells running across the court to put down his things next to yours.
his brown fluffy hair goes up and down as he runs to you. Cute, you think.
As you both stretch a bit, he suddenly suggests, “ Loser buys ice cream?”
“deal.”
*・゜゚・*:.。..。.:*・—・*:.。. .。.:*・゜゚・*
the score is 9 to 11, Jaehyun taking the lead.
As you bounce the ball you run and try to cut past him. In your failed attempt he grabs to ball and gets to the other side of the court, making a smooth hoop. +2 points for him.
“shit,” you pant, while putting your hands on your knees, “do you want to take a break?”
To him, you look visibly exhausted so of course he can’t say no. “Yeah sure,” he breathes, keeping the ball at his side.
you walk over to your bag, getting your bottle, and sit down on a nearby bench. The male mimics your actions, sitting right next to you.
you chug your water quickly. “Woah slow down there yn you’re gonna choke,” jaehyun warns.
“jae I’m fine.” You eyed his worried face. A comforting silence passes, with you starng at the dim streetlight, while he stares are you. You fail to notice the presence of his eyes.
You look over at him, “let’s continue? I need to get this free ice cream.” You tease. He smirks in return and stands up.
“I might go easy on you, you never know.” He yawns, stretching once again. You stand up after him, and run to the middle of the court.
“Come on slowpoke! I’m gonna beat your ass!”
-
In the 3rd quarter he plays defense again. As you snatch the ball you run quickly. You pretend to throw the ball, and he jumps thinking he defended.
You smirk and run past him, then shooting a 3-pointer. You pump your fist in the air as a victory.
the score is now 19 to 17, now you being in the lead. A close game. Only 2 minutes left on your phone timer, and it’s the last quarter. You left out a deep breath before running towards the male. He bounces the ball and shoots- but your fast enough you jump and catch the ball.
you quickly bounce the ball and run and fast as you can- and you make a hoop. You smile as you hear the timer ring, look over and see a sulking jaehyun.
“my treat I guess,” he mumbles as he packs up his things.
“aw I’m sorry. I’m just too good. Let’s go get our ice cream~” you tease.
“Okay”
*・゜゚・*:.。..。.:*・—・*:.。. .。.:*・゜゚・*
The both of you walk to the convenient store down the street together. You talk and laugh about random things. Once you step inside, you both run to the ice cream section. He lets you choose your flavor as he chooses his own as well, and pays.
you lick your ice cream of choice happily while you both walk back to the park to sit down.
silence fills the air once you take your seating.
as you stare off, a thumb comes up to your mouth and swipes near your lips. You look over at the male next to you, as he licks off his thumb.
“you got a little something there.” He smirks and your speechlessness.
Heat crawls up your neck onto your face. You look away, not wanting to making it obvious that you were blushing.
“are you really blushing right now?” Jaehyun asks. You turn back to him.
“what?!? no!! I don’t know what you’re talking about.” You look everywhere but him. You keep eating your ice cream, trying to distract yourself.
“you know let me ask you something.”
you look up, waiting for him to continue. “Do you like me? I’m genuinely curious.” He asks.
“Where did you get that from?” You ask, not wanting to seem obvious about your little crush.
“I might’ve heard a little something from haechan..” he mumbles. You head snaps towards him as you stand up. That catches his attention immediately. You shove your wrapper into your jacket pocket.
“damn! Fuck haechan! That’s why I never trusted him!” You whisper-shout. you look at jaehyun slowly. “ fine I like you, so what? It’s not like your going to return my feelings right?
he looks at you shocked, and stands up shoving his finished ice cream wrapper in his pocket as well.
“no, no, no, I didn’t mean it like that. Please hear me out. I do actually like you back.” He says, voice small.
you smile at him, at his confession.
“are you for real right now?” You question. He nods quickly.
You would’ve never thought this would happen. Your scenarios of rejections are finally gone. You sigh in content.
You calmly walk closer to him little by little. He doesn’t back away. Instead he cradles your face in his hand and presses his lips upon yours. You blush at the sensation, and lean into his touch. When you both pull away he hugs you. “I really like you.” You say.
“I like you more,” he smiles. You smile back at him.
“I’m gonna thank haechan later for this.” You mumble under your breath.

You bounce up and down as you see the Jeep park near the beach house where you and your friends would be staying for the weekend.
The houses lined along the beach were like something you'd find in a movie or TV show, with the brightly painted wooden walls and straw roofs and small steps leading up to the porch that gave a spectacular view of the beach. There was a hammock on the porch, along with a beach chair that looked like it would cave in under the weight of a book.
As the five of your friends started hopping out of the car, you ran to them as best you could in a pair of slops (flip-flops), hugging everyone with welcoming squeals of excitement.
You had gotten there a day earlier since you got off work sooner than they did. There would be three people in a room since the house was pretty small, each room decked with one bunk bed and a single bed with a bedside table and one shared closet. Thankfully you hadn't packed all too much, considering that you were only spending the weekend, and left plenty of space for the guys.
"Y/N! It's so good to see you!" Jae said as you leaned up to hug him, a bright smile aimed at you. You replied with a weird groan of agreement before moving to hug Dowoon and Wonpil at the same time, since they were closest to you.
"I feel like you've grown again," you said with a playful jab to Dowoon's ribs, laughing as Wonpil nodded and muttered something about sharing his height with everyone. Dowoon blushed as he whined childishly.
"Noona," he whined, making you giggle and pinch his cheek gently.
"I'm just teasing, Dowoonie, go ahead and check out the house with Jae and Wonpil." You smiled after him as he ran off with his back, waddling after his hyungs cutely. Shaking your head you turned to Sungjin who had been fondly watching you interact with the youngest, rolling his eyes and smiling stupidly.
"Hey, noona. It's been too long." He said as he leaned down to hug you, a lot more relaxed than the rest of your clique, pulling away and grabbing two bags in each hand. You ruffled his hair and watched him walk off after the others, a smile on your face. Before you could turn around to greet him, arms slipped around your waist, a gentle weight resting against your shoulder with breath fanning against your jaw.
"Jagiya..." Younghyun drawled, trying to act cute. You rolled your eyes but turned around with a smile, facing a pouty fox who looked like he was on the verge of throwing a tantrum.
"Why do you always greet everyone before me? Your boyfriend?"
"Because, dummy." You pushed your finger against his forehead harshly, giggling as you spoke, noticing him going cross-eyed. "They need reassurance of my love more than you do."
"Yah! I also need your attention!" He shouted with a large smile, picking you up at your waist and lifting you up, making you shout to put you down and hit weakly at his shoulders. When he finally set you down you giggled, leaning against him, figurative hearts in your eyes as he leant down to kiss you. You gave him a short peck before telling him to grab his things and come on inside.
"I'm the eldest, I should get a single bed to myself!"
"But I'm the youngest and therefore have maknae privileges!"
You heard a sigh as Jae and Dowoon argued loudly about the last single bed that was available (since you had already snagged the one in the room to the left, courtesy of arriving first).
You went over to the room, leaning against the door frame while overseeing the argument, finding it hilarious how Wonpil so easily ignored them while neatly unpacking his things on the lower bunk.
"Y/N! You tell him that as eldest, I should get the single bed. Right? Tell him!" Jae said over-dramatically, his hands flying all over the place. You grinned mischievously before clearing your throat.
"I'm afraid that Dowoon is right. On page 294 in the Maknae Privilege Code of Conduct, it clearly states that he gets the single bed." You said, speaking with the confidence of a lawyer defending an obviously innocent man. Dowoon walked over happily and Jae looking at you with the face you'd use as the thumbnail for a Top 10 Anime Betrayals video.
"I hate you." Jae said before sulkily throwing his things up on the top bunk, Dowoon side hugging you for a second before smugly going to his single bed.
"Aww," You back hugged Jae, standing on the very tips of your toes to rest your chin as close to his shoulder as possible before saying, "don't be like that, hm? You know I love you, and I have a compromise anyway." Jae perked up at your comment looking less sulky than before.
Dowoon looked utterly terrified, and Wonpil was (figuratively) eating popcorn at the drama playing out in the bedroom.
"Because Dowoon gets the bed, he has to pay for one thing you want."
Dowoon glared at you, appalled, while Jae triumphantly pumped his fist in the air and gave you a light kiss on the cheek. You laughed, waving at the guys still in the room and walking outside to the kitchen to see Brian and Sungjin talking idly about what they'd do for dinner (they'd apparently had lunch on the way here) and what to do to keep everyone busy. You walked over almost silently, leaning up to give Younghyun, who was sitting on one of the counters, a peck on the cheek, looking over at Sungjin with a large smile and suggestive wiggle of the eyebrows.
You reached for the hem of your shirt, beginning to pull it over your head when there was frantic, almost high pitched screaming from the man closest to you, who grabbed your wrists and jumped off the counter to hide you from any prying eyes.
"Yah! What d'you think you're doing?!" Brian shouted heatedly, still a bit shook with the stunt you’d just tried to pull.
You snorted, almost falling over, leaning your forehead against his chest as you laughed silently. "God, you're cute," you muttered, wiping a tear from the corner of your eye and regaining your composure.
Younghyun was looking at you like a lost puppy, pulling at your heart strings. Giggling still, you pulled your short forward and motioned your head downward, Brian looking down, confused. When he saw the fabric of a swim suit, he laughed in disbelief, letting his head rest against your shoulder. "Ah, I'm sorry." You said, running your hand through his hair comfortingly.
"You gave me a heart attack," he mumbled, pulling away.
"Are you two planning on keeping me as a third wheele or can I leave?" Sungjin teased playfully, making the two of you turn around.
"Right, sorry. Anyway, I was thinking we could go down to the beach and you know... Swim?" You chuckled, taking off your shirt to reveal the stretchy fabric of your all gray swimsuit before tying up your hair.
"Sounds fun," Sungjin turned to Wonpil and the others who were sitting in front of the television playing Mario Kart. "If you guys wanna join we'll be down at the beach."
"Okay, hyung. See you guys later!" Dowoon called as he shouted with Wonpil, who had just been pushed off of the track by Jae.
"Ciao!" You shouted as you ran outside, cheeks hurting from smiling so much. Having already swam a bit, you were first in the water, Sungjin eventually joining you before Brian finally got in. Once the water was about waist high you waddled over to Younghyun, who looked kind of uncomfortable.
"What's up? You okay?" You asked as you brushed some hair out of his face, putting your hand over his arm. Brian nodded with a half hearted smile.
"It's just a bit dark, is all. You can't really see anything."
"It's okay, love. You can go on back if you want. We won't be here long, anyway." Brian nodded, kissing you thankfully before he turned and walked back to solid ground. At around about the same time, the three doofuses ran down from the beach house, splashing in the salt water and lunging down as soon as it was deep enough. You laughed, shutting your eyes as water flew at you.
You only stayed in the water for about 30 minutes before you got tired of the boys' seemingly endless energy, going to lay down underneath the tree Brian had set up everyone's towels at. You went and sat next to him quietly, finding a comfortable spot where you could lay down with your face out of the sun while still being able to tan.
You layed down with your head resting more or less next to Brian's side, only your lower half exposed to the sun. You entered a peaceful state of limbo, still aware of everything around you but feeling like you were asleep. You opened an eye, however, when you felt weight being placed on your stomach, looking up to see Younghyun laying against you, eyes closed. You smiled fondly at him, playing with his hair for a second before letting your hand rest on the nape of his neck.
As night fell, everyone got all huddled up inside, dressed in their PJ's, two boxes of pepperoni and mushroom pizzas laying on the coffee table in the living room.
You laughed and shouted along with the guys as they had an intense game of Smash Bros, sitting sandwiched between Dowoon and Brian, nibbling at your pizza while the room went silent. When Wonpil won for the 3rd time this night, you screamed, Brian's soul having seemingly left his body. You were giggling, rubbing his back soothingly with your legs intertwined.
It only took a few more games and a scary movie for you to head on off to bed, yawning once every 2 minutes. Not long after Brian walked into the room, stopping midway toward his bunk bed. "Bri?" You said in a small voice, face hidden in the darkness of the room.
"What's up?" He asked, crouching down beside your bed and running a hand over your hair.
"Can you sleep with me for tonight? I can't fall asleep because of the movie..." You were nervous for his reaction but weren't entirely surprised when he mumbled for you to move up, shifting in next to you and wrapping himself around you.
"I keep telling them..." He said with a sigh, his lips brushing against your shoulder. You sighed contently, putting your hand over his.
"Today was fun though, wasn't it?"
"Yeah, it was. Wait until you see what I have planned for tomorrow." Brian whispered mischievously, pressing a gentle kiss to your temple. "Go to sleep, princess. We have a long day ahead of us."

Our Big Ol' Teddy Bear
Read here or on AO3!
---
Yoongi smacked the nightstand a few times in search of his phone, trying to shut off the intrusive sound of his alarm. He rolled onto his back and stared up at the ceiling for a while to take account of how he felt that morning.
It had been three months since his breakup. Three months since Hoseok and Jimin so graciously took him into their guestroom with no expectations whatsoever. Three months since he heard some of the nastiest words thrown at him in his entire life.
The breakup was horrible, at least from Yoongi’s perspective - not likely from his ex’s. He had seen an entirely new side of Jae in the last few months of the relationship, not even knowing who he was by the end.
Although he was getting through the mindset now with the help of his best friends, Yoongi certainly blamed many things on himself. Yoongi worked a lot even if it was from home, he didn’t enjoy going to the nightclubs every weekend that Jae loved, he built high expectations for Jae as they matured after college, he gained…a bit of weight. Okay, more than a bit, but that shouldn't matter if Jae truly loved him.
Yoongi would never describe himself as small or skinny. He had never been strong and slim like Jimin or lean and toned like Hoseok. His body always had a layer of softness to it and it had never bothered him.
Did Yoongi see that he gained the freshman fifteen and then a little more in college? Yeah.
Did Yoongi know that he gained some comfortable relationship weight? Of course.
Did Yoongi recognize that eating had become his stress response over the years? Sure.
Did Yoongi size up appropriately and acknowledge his weight gain when necessary? Yes.
Did Yoongi care that the scale hit 240 during his time with Jae? Not really.
Well, not until Jae constantly brought it up.
During the demise of their relationship, it seemed to be the only thing his ex-boyfriend had enough interest in to actually start a conversation with him. Yoongi didn’t even know where it was suddenly coming from or what had initiated the fixation, but Jae would comment whenever he could.
Jae started dropping hints about diets and going to the gym with him instead of Yoongi eating what he wanted and walking Holly around the park in the morning. Then he escalated a bit more to telling Yoongi what diets to try and how to ‘take better care of himself’ even though he knew he did that just fine.
By the end, Jae was directly insulting Yoongi to his face and it wasn’t the words that hurt him, it was the tone. The way he spat out the word fat at Yoongi as if it were an expletive told him everything he needed to know. He went on and on about how Yoongi let himself go and stopped putting effort into the relationship.
That really struck a nerve with Yoongi because he knew that he was a great partner. He was attentive, loving, and generous - giving Jae quality time and acts of service every day even when they went unappreciated. He did all of the cooking and most of the cleaning, and he planned all of their dates because Jae’s idea of a date was going out to the club with a group of his friends.
If Jae’s measure of success in a relationship was the weight of his partner, then Yoongi was happy to be free of him. It was just taking him a little bit of time to get there. He was incredibly thankful for his best friends because they were, as always, his biggest supporters.
Yoongi would always remember showing up at their door on a late Friday night, trying his best to keep his tears at bay.
The fighting with Jae had finally hit its threshold and Yoongi had to leave for good. Their shared apartment wasn’t a safe place for him mentally or emotionally anymore so he packed his bags, put Holly in the car, and drove straight to Hoseok and Jimin.
Not wanting to waste a single tear on that bastard, Yoongi tried so hard not to cry as they opened the door for him, but one look at his best friends had him falling apart. Through his tears, he explained the latest fight and how he simply couldn’t take it anymore.
They truly didn’t need any explanation to welcome him inside, but they were both complete sweethearts and heard him out anyway which was exactly what Yoongi needed to come back down from his distress.
All it took was Hoseok’s warm embrace and Jimin’s sweet, gentle voice which somehow both were always warm and safe, never condescending. They held him and comforted him, told him he was better off without someone who could disrespect him the way Jae had, told him that they thought he was perfect as he was and no part of Jae’s words was true.
Hoseok listed all the loveworthy things about Yoongi which felt like a surprisingly long list in his eyes but may have also made him cry again. Jimin grew angry hearing about his ex’s claims, a little terrifying in a way only he could, as he paced the living room and spouted off all of Jae’s shortcomings, an equally long list.
Without question, their guest bedroom had become his and Holly’s to share - both Hoseok and Jimin adamant that he had no rush to leave or find other arrangements. They had all been roommates in college so it honestly felt refreshing yet comfortable to be back under the same roof. It also did something to his sensitive heart to hear how it was immediately their first instinct, not even entertaining Yoongi staying anywhere besides their home.
Yoongi tried to insist that he help with the rent or put money toward their bills, but they declined every time. He knew they were both successful and didn’t need his money for anything. It was more of a moral principle for him to try and yet, they never would take a dollar from him.
His friends co-owned a dance studio together, a bit of a risky move considering they were romantic partners and business partners, but everyone knew that it would be successful no matter what. Hoseok and Jimin were both respectable people who could put differences aside in both areas of their life to make sure it didn’t drive them apart.
Hosoek taught dance classes, trained upcoming idol groups before their debut, and managed a competitive, award-winning street dance crew. Jimin mainly did private contemporary and ballet lessons for people attempting to expand their repertoire or audition for academies and acting roles. He also freelanced as a choreographer for idol performances and competition groups.
Even though they were both extremely busy with their studio, they always made time for Yoongi. At least one of them was home to share dinner with him and make sure he didn’t work through it. Hoseok had him watching dramas before bed as they used to in college and Jimin would sit up with him into the hours of the night, sharing deep conversations over a glass of whiskey.
After three months, they still were as happy to have Yoongi there as the first night he came knocking at their door. He was completely integrating back into their normal routine and they often planned their schedules and meals with him instead of around him.
It was honestly becoming difficult to think about leaving when they were both so wonderful.
A knock on the door suddenly brought Yoongi out of his trance. Jimin was on the other side, never opening the door without permission and always giving him however much space he needed. His friends really made his heart melt.
“Yoonie? My 9 AM canceled so I’m going to run down to the coffee shop. Do you want anything?” Jimin asked softly yet loud enough to be heard through the door.
Yoongi cleared his throat and sat up a bit. “Uh, yeah, Min. I’ll take an iced Americano and whatever steamed bun they have this morning.”
“Sure thing, babe. I’ll let you know when I get back,” Jimin replied, sounding a little more chipper at hearing Yoongi’s voice. He tapped the door twice as a parting notice and then his footsteps could be heard going down the hall.
With a sigh, Yoongi flopped back onto the mattress and tried to ignore the butterflies in his stomach from Jimin calling him ‘babe’ which was not new in any way. Jimin was affectionate with everyone - he called Jungkook and Taehyung various names like babe, baby, and honey all the time - so Yoongi had to remind himself that he wasn’t special.
Yet, somehow, Jimin made him always feel special. Yoongi was fucked because how could you not love Park Jimin.
Deciding not to let that send him into a spiral, Yoongi got up and rushed through a shower so he was looking a little more put together to eat breakfast with Jimin. He hurried through his morning routine and managed to finish drying his hair by the time the front door opened.
Jimin returned with a haul, picking up much more than what Yoongi requested. As the elder ambled out of the guest bedroom with poofy hair and pinks cheeks from his hurried hair-drying, the stack of containers that Jimin was piling up caught his attention. There was certainly more than a coffee and a steamed bun.
“Uh, Min, what’s all this?” Yoongi asked as he tried to estimate how many buns the younger could have possibly ordered.
Jimin looked up with a smile, trying to stop himself from commenting on how Yoongi’s cheeks looked like the buns he just bought or how Yoongi’s hand was resting on top of his soft middle. He pouted his lips and remembered the sweet puppies at the cafe to keep his mind off his best friend’s body.
“They were having a fundraiser for the animal shelter and all the puppies were so cute. I know Hobi wouldn’t be happy if I brought a puppy home without asking, especially since we have Holly here now, so I just bought a bunch of buns for them instead.”
Yoongi shook his head with a fond laugh, ignoring the fact that they considered Holly a pet for themselves too. Jimin was seriously the most endearing person he had ever met. “You are adorable, Jimin-ah.”
Jimin beamed back at him, eyes disappearing with the width of this smile. He started pulling buns out of the containers that Yoongi would like to make him a plate because, of course, Jimin knew his preferences.
Yeah, Yoongi was definitely fucked.
They shared breakfast together, Jimin somehow convincing him to eat way more buns than he should have. He was absolutely stuffed, his stomach feeling tight with dough and filling, and he had to stop himself from rubbing his belly in front of Jimin.
Yoongi waited until the younger grabbed his stuff and headed off to the studio for his 11 AM lesson before standing up from the table. It took a bit of effort to stand, his shirt riding up a bit to reveal a little skin between the bottom hem and his waistband. He was glad that he waited, not wanting to think about embarrassing himself in front of Jimin like that.
With hopes of forgetting how nice it felt to overindulge in breakfast, Yoongi went back to the bedroom to get some work done. He wasn’t new to overeating, having been a large factor in his current weight, but this felt a bit different. His usual increased intake was in response to stress, however, this morning had been the complete opposite.
Yoongi decided not to focus on it too much, taking a mental note to restrict himself more in front of Hoseok and Jimin. He opened up his laptop and found a new set of lyrics that Namjoon had sent over, making that his priority for the day.
It had not been his intention, but Yoongi ended up working straight through the day. His big breakfast and tendency to get fixated on a project held him over until now. He wasn’t entirely starving yet, but he was hungry enough to go search for a snack.
Closing his laptop with a satisfied grunt, Yoongi pushed away from his desk and stood up to stretch his legs before heading for the kitchen. As he reached for the door handle, Yoongi jumped at the second knock at his door that day.
“Still working, Yoongs?” Hoseok’s voice carried through the door. With his headphones on, Yoongi hadn’t even realized that anyone had come home.
Yoongi opened the door with a gummy smile, happy to spend time with his other best friend now that his work was done. “Nope, just finished my project with Joon-ah. What’s up?”
Hoseok smiled and grabbed his hand as if it were second nature. “Come help me with dinner. I can cook, but I know you are better.”
Yoongi simply let himself be guided to the kitchen, not questioning the request. He grew a little confused when he saw the bags of ingredients on the counter looking like quite the spread.
“What’s the special occasion? This is a ton of food,” Yoongi asked as he picked up a bottle of red wine that he knew was one of Jimin’s favorites.
Hoseok looked around as if his boyfriend were going to jump out from behind a random corner. “Jiminie’s choreography for that new girl group got accepted for award season and has gotten one nomination so far. We got the letter in the mail today.”
Yoongi’s jaw dropped - that was a huge accomplishment for a freelance choreographer and Jimin had been working toward that type of success since his early college days. “Wow, Hoba, that’s amazing. He’s going to be so excited.”
“I know! I’m so proud of him, but that’s why I need help. He deserves to be spoiled for this - well, all the time really - because he’s worked so hard. I want to make all his favorites.”
Yoongi nodded and rolled up his sleeves. “Of course, tell me what you’d like to do first.”
Hoseok smiled and in a rush, he kissed Yoongi’s cheek. “Thank you! You are a lifesaver!”
Knowing his cheeks were on fire, Yoongi’s words got stuck in his throat from the gesture as it was so unexpected. Something about the moment, however, also gave him a sudden realization.
“After we finish, would you like me to see if I can crash at Joon and Jin’s tonight?” he asked as he continued to unpack the grocery bags.
Hoseok stopped washing the vegetables he had in the sink and frowned as he turned toward Yoongi. “Why would you need to leave? This is your place now too.”
“Hobi, I appreciate that, but you are having a celebration dinner with your boyfriend. You probably want some privacy.”
Yoongi was confused as to why this was confusing to Hoseok. It seemed so obvious to him.
“Hyung, Jiminie and I would be more upset if you left. We see this as your home now too. Stay with us and celebrate. I know you are happy for Min too and I bought extra bulgogi just for you,” Hoseok replied strongly, sounding almost offended that Yoongi offered to leave.
Yoongi blushed, trying to ignore the fact that this was the second time today they were acknowledging his food preferences. “Of course, I’m happy for him. I’m so proud of him.”
Hoseok looked straight at him with a mix of endearment and hesitation and Yoongi couldn’t find it in himself to look away.
“Then stay, please, for me and Jimin.”
Yoongi’s mouth went dry and his chest felt tight. They were going to be the death of him.
“Yeah, okay, I’ll stay.”
“Good, now, help me peel these carrots. Minnie always does it, I suck at it,” Hoseok said as if that entire interaction wasn’t a monumental implication of something more than friendship.
Yoongi had to force himself to move toward the sink, keeping his eyes off the flexing tension of his best friend’s bicep or the sweet curve of his smile. He was double fucked because how could you not love Jung Hoseok.
Of all the people in the world, Yoongi had to fall for his best friends who were in a committed relationship. The only thing he was able to hold onto was the fact that they clearly loved and cared for him, apparently with a keen interest in his food choices.
Call it wishful thinking, but somewhere in the back of Yoongi’s mind, he thought maybe, just maybe, there was a chance. A chance that they loved him the way he loved them.
At the same time, the thought of even bringing up the idea of loving them a little more than platonically made Yoongi feel overcome with anxiety, fearful for the end of their friendship. He genuinely had no idea how he could go on living his life without Hoseok and Jimin.
A few more months passed and Yoongi quickly realized two things.
One, he was definitely in love with both of his best friends and had no idea what to do about it.
Two, he was starting to think they might have a thing for feeding him because there was never a lack of food around the house for him.
Yoongi had gotten over the ill-willed comments from Jae quite a while ago, never holding onto his weight-related insecurities for long. It was also hard to keep them lingering when Hoseok and Jimin were constantly complimenting him and making sure he never missed a meal.
It was obvious that he had gained more weight since moving in with them. Between some overindulgence in the form of eating his feelings right after the breakup and his best friends constantly offering him food, Yoongi would be stupid to think the number wasn’t higher.
The last time he weighed himself was about a month before the breakup. That was when he found out that the scale hit 240 because Jae demanded to know how much he had gained since they started dating. Yoongi adamantly denied telling him, knowing that whatever number showed up would cause a reaction, but he did weigh himself in private just to know.
Yoongi did not make a habit of weighing himself, mainly because he didn’t care what the number was. If he was happy with his body, then why did it matter? He also wasn’t about to do it now since he didn’t have a scale easily accessible to him.
The thought of awkwardly asking Jimin or Hoseok if he could use their bathroom scale or find an excuse to use their bathroom, in general, made him cringe. Their apartment was in a luxury high-rise which meant Yoongi had his own en suite bathroom to use and absolutely no reason to use their bathroom.
So, Yoongi decided to let it go. The number didn’t matter to him. Hoseok and Jimin were supportive of him and whatever he looked like or weighed. They never once said a rude word to him, especially about his body. If anything, they were always telling him how much they loved him and encouraging him to eat a little more.
What he couldn’t let go of was his feeling for them which started to consume any free space in his mind. If Yoongi wasn’t working on a project, he was thinking about at least one of them, usually both.
Hoseok’s warm yet strong composure never made him second-guess his friend’s genuine care and his bountiful energy was like a vitamin for Yoongi’s melancholy moods. Jimin shared his striking intelligence with him that was normally hidden behind his goofy sense of humor and his gentle disposition helped him overcome creative blocks and bouts of insecurity.
Yoongi shouldn’t have been surprised that they had owned his heart for a long time now, but the continuous realization of how much he felt for them threw him into a bit of a spiral each time. And as he always did, Yoongi turned to food to dig himself out.
Between their supportive efforts whenever they were home to share a meal with him and the large gaps in the day where he worked from the home office while they were out at the studio, Yoongi was finding constant comfort in eating.
It started to become a habit whenever Hoseok or Jimin did something that sent his heart racing, Yoongi would raid the pantry or order a lunch delivery. He spent the majority of the day snacking on random stuff or going through bowls of instant ramen whenever he needed a break.
It certainly didn’t help that there were three well-stocked convenience stores within two blocks of their apartment building. At first, it started out as an occasional trip for a few snacks when he needed to step away from a project. Then, it become a once or twice a week occurrence to visit for his lunch - picking up more instant ramen and sweet treats than he needed to fill his stomach.
Now, Yoongi stopped every time he walked Holly which admittedly was no longer a daily routine. He argued that he was doing it for Holly’s sake since Jimin loved taking him on morning runs. He walked Holly probably three or four times a week now and those walks were always completed by a stop at one of the three shops to grab whatever he was craving.
Some days when he really overdid, Yoongi would tell himself that he had to tone it down. Not because his weight bothered him, but because he was terrified of embarrassing himself in front of his friends.
There had been a few occasions when he needed to where his biggest sweatpants to accommodate eating dinner with them on top of a full stomach from his day of eating, afraid of popping a button on his old jeans.
It also didn’t help that Jimin had found him indulging in his other shameful habit and put a stop to it.
Yoongi was having a particularly difficult round of writer’s block, mainly due to his own hidden feelings. It was a song based around a love triangle and the person was torn between two people they loved deeply but felt as if they couldn’t have a relationship with either. It felt painfully accurate.
After they all went their separate ways for the night, Yoongi assumed the couple would be in bed so he snuck out onto the balcony with a pack of cigarettes he, for some reason, still always kept around. When work got too difficult or the fights with Jae grew unbearable, he smoked here or there to take the edge off.
Although he wished he hadn’t held onto the habit at all, Yoongi knew it was way better than how he used to be - smoking for his bad boy image in high school and drunk chain-smoking in college. His partner-in-crime on nights like this used to be Jimin who was the one that decided they needed to cut it off.
Sometimes, Yoongi felt guilty for never completely going cold turkey as Jimin did, but if it was what helped him out of the stress, he could rationalize it. He left the door ever so slightly cracked to make sure it didn’t lock behind him and stared out at the city while he smoked.
Yoongi only managed a few drags before the balcony door opened and another person was standing next to him. Jimin stole the cigarette from his lips and placed it between his own, taking a hit with a pinched brow before flicking the ash away and extinguishing it on the brick ledge.
“I thought you quit,” Jimin said quietly, not accusatory but curious.
“I thought you did too,” Yoongi replied, realizing that Jimin’s actions still seemed quite practiced. Maybe it wasn’t so cold turkey after all.
Jimin shrugged and leaned his head on Yoongi’s shoulder. “I only do it when I get really stressed and dancing doesn’t help.”
“Yeah, I only do it when I’m stressed too. I just can’t get this song right,” Yoongi admitted, resting his head on top of Jimin’s and trying to ignore how natural it felt.
“Tell me about it,” Jimin said, taking Yoongi’s hand and leading him back inside. It was obvious that he was still itching to do something to get it off his mind, but Jimin wanted to help instead of enable.
Yoongi dropped back onto the couch with a sigh, hands laced on top of his stomach. He tried to ignore yet another wave of endearment as Jimin curled up next to him, gently running his fingers through Yoongi’s hair and massaging his neck.
“The lyrics are basically a love triangle, someone is caught between two people that they love,” Yoongi explained, hoping that his own feelings didn’t seep into his words.
Jimin hummed and continued his gentle touch. “Do the other two love them back?”
Yoongi stared at Jimin for a moment in confusion and then shrugged. “I mean, yes, most likely. The concept is that the decision to choose between them is impossible.”
“Then why choose?”
The room was silent, only the occasional sound of Jimin’s continued, comforting movement. Yoongi was at a loss from the question. “What do you mean?”
Jimin tugged on a piece of Yoongi’s hair as he let out a little huff of frustration. “Why do they have to choose? Is that the specific outline they are asking for?”
“I mean…no, they usually give me artistic freedom with a general direction,” Yoongi replied, still dumbfounded by Jimin’s seemingly simple answer.
“Then why can’t they all be together or in an open relationship? Why does it have to be a choice between them when it can be both of them?”
“Min-ah, I can’t just go write some ballad about polyamory,” Yoongi said, a bit harsher than he meant to, but he was confused by Jimin’s easy suggestion for a concept that was not well-known in Korea.
Jimin rolled his eyes and flicked Yoongi’s ear. “Why not? And who said it had to be a love-sick ballad? Toe the line, weave back and forth between platonic and romantic, don’t say it outright. You are talented, hyung. I’ve heard you hide much deeper meanings in lyrics before.”
“I…” Yoongi mumbled, a bit speechless between the genius idea, the genuine compliment, and the potential implication. “Yeah…I guess I can do that.”
“I’m not saying that’s what you have to do, but-”
“No, seriously, that is a great idea, Jiminie. I was just boxing myself in. You’re right, I can easily make that work and it will be ten times better than the junk I was coming up with today,” Yoongi replied, finally leaning his head back into Jimin’s hand.
Jimin smiled, a bit proudly at his idea, and rested his chin on Yoongi’s shoulder. “Nothing you write could ever be junk, Yoongi. You are too talented.”
Yoongi felt his cheeks heat up from Jimin’s close proximity and sweet words. Jimin was always serious when he called him hyung, but using his full name was rare, it made the words go straight to his heart. “Thanks, Min, for that and for talking it out.”
“Of course, Hobi and I both thought you looked unsettled all night so I wanted to check on you before we went to bed. I’m glad I did,” Jimin responded, his voice dropping much softer and a bit more intimate than before.
Yoongi fought off the urge to close the gap between them, berating his brain for telling how easy it would be to just steal a quick kiss. “I’m glad you did, too.”
Suddenly, the tension of the moment broke as Jimin stood up, looking a little nervous. He cleared his throat and grabbed the pack of cigarettes off the table, holding them out to Yoongi.
“I’m not saying you have to get rid of them, you can always make your own choices, but if you feel like you need them again, no matter what time, you can always talk to me first. Smoke breaks were always our thing, but it can still be our thing without the smoking part.”
With tears threatening his eyes, Yoongi nodded and tried to keep the onslaught of emotions away. “I will, Jimin, I promise. You can talk to me too, you know?”
Jimin smiled, his nerves seeming to melt away as he nodded back. “I know, hyung. I’ve always known that,” he said warmly before moving in closer causing Yoongi’s eyes to widen.
As Yoongi went to say something, he was silenced by the gentle press of Jimin’s lips to his forehead followed by the softest ‘goodnight, Yoon’ that he had ever heard. He watched, still in silence, as Jimin walked back to his and Hobi’s bedroom without a look back. Sometimes, it blew Yoongi's mind that Jimin was the youngest out of the three of them after conversations like that.
Throwing his head back on the couch, Yoongi let out a quiet groan. Part of him was trying to convince himself that Jimin didn’t mean anything specific with his suggestion for the song while the other part of him was saying he was an idiot. There was also a tiny little corner of his brain having a meltdown about the forehead kiss, but he couldn’t let himself fall apart over that.
Standing from the couch with his mind racing, Yoongi looked at the cigarettes in his hand. He walked to the kitchen and threw them straight into the trashcan, taking Jimin’s words to heart. The urge to reach for them was replaced by Jimin’s warmth and for now, that was enough for Yoongi to push them aside.
With measured steps, Yoongi turned to leave the kitchen, but he stopped knowing that his mind certainly wouldn’t quiet now. He looked down the hall at their bedroom door just to make sure it was fully closed before he swung the pantry door open.
Yoongi grabbed a bag of chips and a package of cookies before turning to the freezer, opening it gently and selecting one of the few pints that were stocked up inside. He made a mindful choice, leaving Hoseok’s favorite flavor untouched.
Grabbing a spoon from the drying rack, Yoongi took his haul back to what had become his bedroom. He tossed the pile of food down onto the bed and thought about his conversation with Jimin while changing his clothes.
The solution seemed to have struck as Yoongi replayed the words in his head. Instead of climbing into bed for a late-night snack binge, he got set up at his desk so he didn’t lose the burst of inspiration.
Yoongi opened up the bag of chips and set it beside his computer before putting on his headphones. He set up his mic to dictate the lyrics while he started making mini ice cream sandwiches with the cookies, eating some of them in one bite while taking breaks to think about the next line.
By the time four o’clock hit, Yoongi felt quite accomplished. He had an entire song sitting in front of him, the lyrics coming together seamlessly as he wrote about his ideal scenario with the two sleeping down the hall. He also cleared his snack stash as he worked, empty packaging littering his desktop.
Although it wasn’t good for his waistline, Yoongi couldn’t help but think how much better a warm conversation and a pile of snacks felt than the bitter taste of a cigarette. It seemed as though he had actually managed to kick his bad habit. Now if only he could take his other accomplishment of the night and make it a reality.
Yoongi crawled up into bed and felt a pinch of discomfort as he laid back against the pillows. He, unsurprisingly, had overdone it again that day and probably should not have finished the entire unopened package of cookies in the middle of the night. His waistband was digging into his stomach so he slid it below his bloated middle, letting out a long sigh at the relief he felt. He contemplated also removing his shirt since it was clinging to his taut skin, but he ultimately decided it wasn't worth sitting up again.
As massaging his full belly helped him drift off to sleep, Yoongi's mind went back to Hosoek and Jimin as he continued to hold onto that hope of a chance with them. The song felt so true to his feelings and how he dreamt of it happening, but the idea also seemed so farfetched. Yet, it also felt that they were always hinting at it.
The song was Jimin’s suggestion after all. Maybe it could actually happen.
Somehow, it had been a year since the breakup and Yoongi decided it was finally time to start looking for apartments.
Yoongi felt that he had overstayed his welcome, very much over his breakup and in need of a little distance if he was ever going to get over his feelings for his best friends. That conversation with Jimin often hung heavy in his mind, but the thought of pursuing it and losing their beautiful friendship was enough to stop him from ever saying a word.
They hadn’t let up on the pampering that was still excused as helping him recover and they still hadn’t let him put a dime toward their bills. Due to his intake feeling like it was double theirs, Yoongi often covered the cost of takeout and replenished the grocery supply which they did allow.
Jimin still offered coffee shop runs when he had a late morning and Hoseok had invited him to cook together more often. They gave him decently big portions at meals and kept his favorite snacks in the pantry.
Although he never planned on ever addressing it much like his love for them, Yoongi genuinely thought they loved feeding him. He rarely felt hungry in their house and he wasn’t exactly upset about it. He hoped they hadn’t noticed his few deliveries that came in the mail because there was some online shopping required to size up some of his jeans.
Sometimes his mind drifted back to the thought of finding out how much he had gained over the past year, but again, Yoongi wasn’t particularly interested in the number…or maybe that is what he kept telling himself. There was a curiosity in him that wanted to know, not how much he weighed, but how much had Hoseok and Jimin influenced him since he moved in.
Yoongi had certainly been responsible for his weight gain in the past, eating whatever he wanted and having no interest in tracking calories or going to the gym. But, living with these two again, this was mostly on their encouragement in his opinion. He would never have eaten as much as he had in the past year if they hadn’t been so suggestive and encouraging.
Sending their group chat a text, Yoongi let them know that he needed to talk about something when they got home. He did feel a bit guilty leaving it open that way knowing that Jimin would definitely get anxious about it, but Yoongi also didn’t want to drop that bomb through messages.
By the time they got home from work, Yoongi was freaking out a bit which confused him. Obviously, he had feelings for them, but they all knew he would only stay until he was back on his feet. This should be a good thing and yet, it was making him feel sick just thinking about Hoseok’s dejected tone or Jimin’s puppy eyes when he told them.
“Yoongs!” Hoseok called out, sounding worried enough that Yoongi knew he couldn’t put it off any longer.
Standing up from his desk, Yoongi adjusted his sweatshirt that had gotten scrunched up while he was working. He looked down at himself and had a passing thought of ‘man, I’ve gotten pretty big’. If he had time, a trip to the bathroom to analyze himself in the mirror probably would have happened, but his conversation with Hoseok and Jimin was more important.
Yoongi jumped when he opened the door, Hoseok standing on the other side with his hand raised to knock. He looked over his shoulder and saw Jimin at the end of the hallway, holding himself and chewing on his pinky with an anxious expression.
Letting out a guilty sigh, Yoongi left the bedroom and said, “Hey, sorry to freak you out. It’s nothing major, I promise.”
Hoseok rubbed his back gently while Jimin let out a sigh of his own, relaxing his rigid shoulders. “Should we go talk in the living room?”
Yoongi nodded and let himself be led out of the hallway. As they passed by Jimin, he gave Yoongi a little shove and a pout that broke the tension and made them all laugh.
“You scared me,” Jimin whined softly, keeping his tone light even though Yoongi could tell he was serious. He gave Jimin a quiet apology and waited until he nodded in acceptance before sitting on the couch next to Hoseok.
Jimin sat in front of them on the coffee table, feeling very reminiscent of the first night he came to their apartment. They sat in this arrangement while drying his tears and telling him how loved he was. Yoongi just hoped there would be no tears this time around.
“I just wanted to talk to you guys about looking for apartments. I know it’s been a year already so I-”
“You want to move out?” Jimin asked, cutting off his explanation with a look of absolute heartbreak on his face.
Yoongi stared at him in surprise, not expecting them to be this emotional over him leaving. Obviously, they weren’t heartless and liked having him around, but Jimin was on the verge of tears and Hoseok actually looked a bit angry.
“I mean…this was temporary. I already overstayed my welcome and-”
“There was no welcome to overstay, hyung. I thought we made it clear that we were happy to have you living with us again,” Hoseok said firmly, giving him a pointed look. He got up and began pacing the living room, clearly upset and trying to keep it under control.
Yoongi was shocked. They legitimately did not want him to leave and he couldn’t figure out why. They were a young, healthy couple who by all accounts should want their privacy instead of a remake of their college years with more money and more adult responsibilities.
“I, um, it’s been a year. I’m over Jae, I’m doing better now. I should look for my own place. You know, give you two your privacy back. You don’t need some single guy around ruining your vibe,” Yoongi explained, sounding uncertain of himself considering their unhappy expressions.
Jimin let out a little shaky exhale, looking as if he were fighting off tears while Hoseok stopped his pacing to stare at Yoongi.
“Ruin our vibe? What the hell does that even mean? You are our best friend, you never ruin anything,” Hoseok replied, his hands landing on his hips.
Yoongi looked between both of them, torn between comforting Jimin and apologizing to Hoseok. “I know that, I didn’t mean-”
“Do you want to leave?” Jimin asked suddenly, his voice teetering on the edge of staying calm.
As he paused to consider his answer, Hoseok added, “Answer honestly please, not what you think you need to say.”
Retracting a bit, Yoongi thought it over and they were right. Not a single part of him wanted to leave, he was just doing what he thought he was supposed to do.
“No…of course, I don’t want to leave. I love you guys,” Yoongi answered quietly, looking intently at anything except their faces.
“Then don’t leave,” Hoseok replied firmly, looking as if he was ready to fight if Yoongi countered them again.
“I don’t understand. You…it’s been a year. I appreciate you both more than you could ever know, but I should be moving on. I should get a new place and maybe try getting back out there, although I don’t know how well that would go,” Yoongi rambled on, trying to convince himself as much as them.
Hoseok let out an exasperated sigh and started his pacing again. “Hyung, not to be rude, but I said be honest. You keep saying should instead of want or need. If you want to move out or you feel like you need to move out for you and your health, we will support you, but it doesn’t sound like that.”
Yoongi felt like he was cut open under a microscope as they were getting closer and closer to his real feelings. He wanted nothing more than to blurt it out, but the fear was holding him back.
“What about you? What do you two want?” Yoongi asked, trying to spin it around to see if they would admit feeling imposed on.
Hoseok seemed to be thinking it over, formulating a response when Jimin suddenly said, “We love you too!”
The room was frozen, Jimin looking as if he wanted to run from the room. He shrunk a little bit before regaining his typical confidence. Within seconds, Jimin wrapped himself around Yoongi and tucked his face into his shoulder.
“Please don’t leave, hyung. We love you.”
Yoongi felt the urge to check if he was dreaming because that sounded like much more than a simple friendship ‘I love you’. His arms instinctively wrapped around Jimin while his eyes were locked on Hoseok’s. They stared at each other, having an entire conversation without saying a single word.
Finally, Hoseok let out a deep breath that seemed more like relief than stress and he joined them on the couch, one hand in Yoongi’s hair and the other running across Jimin’s shoulders. The atmosphere in the room shifted and everyone remained silent until the older two heard a muffled sniffle from Jimin.
“Hey, Min-ah, it’s okay. I won't leave, I promise,” Yoongi whispered into his ear while he and Hoseok both comforted him.
Jimin kept his face securely against Yoongi’s neck, his chest hitching a few times that told them he was attempting to stop himself from crying. Without moving from his hiding spot, Jimin replied, “Sorry, I just got scared. I didn’t want to lose our chance with you again.”
Yoongi’s eyes widened as Hoseok let out a gentle hum, acknowledging his boyfriend’s words, before he leaned forward to place his lips on Jimin’s temple. “But we didn’t, baby. We told him and it’s going to be okay.”
“A-Again?” Yoongi stuttered out, the only thing he could possibly say.
Jimin groaned quietly, scolding himself for his word choice. “I…we…ugh, please don’t feel upset or guilty about this. Seriously.”
Yoongi was in shock once again, confused by what Jimin was asking of him. “Okay…”
Hosoek tapped Jimin’s shoulder as a silent sign that he would start, knowing that his boyfriend had been struggling with this for years.
“Back in college, that night you came home from that dinner date with Jae, we thought you were going to break it off with him. You just didn’t seem to be into him that much, but you came back and said he asked you to be his boyfriend. We couldn’t believe that you said yes back then.
Yoongi could sense the direction of the conversation and started to feel a wave of dread wash over him. “I actually liked him a lot. I just knew that you didn’t like him so I tried not to mention him much. It didn’t last very long, but I did genuinely love him at some point.”
There was a strange look shared between Hoseok and Jimin, almost as if they were convincing each other that waiting was a good thing. Jimin pulled away from where he was lying on Yoongi, but he didn’t go far - resting beside him so he was still within reach of both his hyungs.
Jimin took a deep breath and grabbed one of Yoongi’s hands, holding it in between both of his with a gentle grasp and playing with his fingers. “We were going to tell you about our feelings before we moved out of that apartment. We talked about it for months and made sure it was something we both wanted.”
Yoongi switched his focus between both of them, turning his head back and forth a few times as he processed what Jimin was saying. “You mean…”
Hoseok grabbed his other hand and reached out to tenderly hold his chin so they were staring at each other intently. “We have loved you for a very long time, Yoon. Jiminie and I are so happy together, but we could be perfect with you.”
It felt as if all the air left his lungs, hearing words that Yoongi had never thought possible. He hadn’t even realized he was crying until Jimin used his thumb to wipe away a tear that ran down his cheek. They apparently took his silence as hesitation because Jimin jumped back in before he could respond.
“We understand if you don’t feel the same or if you need more time, but we had to tell you. I don’t think my heart could take it much longer. I’m not built for secrets like that,” Jimin explained, trying to keep it light as he made the other two chuckle quietly.
Yoongi sniffled back the lingering tears and pulled both his hands out of theirs to wipe his own eyes. “Of course, I feel the same way. How could I not?”
Jimin’s head immediately dropped back to his shoulder as he clung to Yoongi’s arm, trying not to cry again. Hoseok took another gentle hold of Yoongi’s chin and pulled his face closer, placing a feather-light kiss on the corner of his mouth.
“Stay with us. Take all the time you need to get comfortable with the idea of a relationship between the three of us but stay. We will give you time and space, but I promise you, we won't stop loving you,” Hoseok said firmly, not wanting to take no for an answer.
Yoongi shook his head softly. “I would never need time for that. It’s what I’ve wanted for the past six months. I was so scared of losing our friendship that I couldn’t say anything. I almost did when we talked about the song,” he said, turning his attention to Jimin, “but I just couldn’t get myself to actually say it.”
Jimin smiled softly, almost a little bittersweet thinking about the time missed, but he let that thought roll off his back. He had loved both Hoseok and Yoongi since he was nineteen. What’re another six months?
“That’s okay, I was nervous that I had taken it too far, but I’m glad I didn’t send you running,” Jimin replied, kissing Yoongi’s shoulder that had been the resting spot for his chin.
“You could never. I love you way too much for that,” Yoongi said, warmth spreading over him as he watched Jimin’s eyes light up from his words. He kissed Jimin’s forehead and laughed alongside Hoseok as they saw him hide his face in Yoongi’s shoulder with a blush on his cheeks.
Jimin convinced Yoongi to join them in their room that night, telling him he could go back to the guest bedroom if he felt uncomfortable, but Yoongi was no match for Jimin’s puppy eyes and pouty lips - unable to even consider saying no to him.
As he changed in his own space, Yoongi felt a sudden wave of self-conscious worry - mainly regarding the sleeping arrangements. He was a big guy, even bigger now than he was back in the day of their college cuddling nights. Squeezing onto a single dorm bed was a laughable little scene, but a comfortable night's sleep with three grown men could be a real challenge.
Three in one bed was already something to maneuver if they were all Jimin's size, but it was especially precarious since he took up more space than the other two by far. The last thing he wanted was for them to spend the night hoping they didn't fall over the edge for the sake of being in the same bed.
That thought seemed to come and go quickly as he remembered that lingering sensation of Hoseok and Jimin keeping him well-fed. Yoongi knew he would have to address it at some point simply out of curiosity because it certainly wasn’t something easy to hide anymore. His weight hadn’t been something easy to hide in quite some time, probably since his late college years when he really thought about it.
As he crept down the hall, Yoongi considered how to approach the situation. Should he knock on the bedroom door? Should he wait for one of them to come get him? Should he just back out entirely and cuddle Holly in his bed instead? Jimin answered his racing thoughts for him.
“Yoonie? Ready for bed?” Jimin called out as he met the other in the hallway.
Yoongi smiled at the hesitant excitement in Jimin’s voice, washing away any lingering worry he may have still had. He watched as the younger approached the kitchen and waved him off when Jimin asked if he wanted anything while he grabbed a glass of water. Yoongi assumed that Jimin was offering him a glass of water as well, but a little part of his mind did consider that he may have been implying a bedtime snack - only furthering Yoongi's assumptions about their efforts to feed him up.
On his way back from the kitchen, Jimin grabbed Yoongi’s hand and led them toward the bedroom. “Hobs is taking a quick shower, but we can get comfy without him.”
Yoongi helped Jimin pull back the covers on their bed and he noticed that he was worried for nothing. “You know, for two small people, this is a pretty big bed.”
Jimin laughed as he crawled up onto the mattress. “Yeah, we like to spread out and…”
“And?” Yoongi asked, intrigued by what would cause Jimin to hesitate.
“Well, we just…um, we kind of have been talking about a poly relationship for a long time so it made sense to get a bed big enough for three. It's been this thing that we always assumed would happen one day even if we just tried it out casually,” Jimin replied quietly, trying to hide his nerves about his honest answer.
“That’s really sweet, Minnie,” Yoongi answered genuinely, endeared that they were so open with each other about their interests to the point of planning their future. It also yet again convinced him that he had nothing to worry about with them, that he was safe to enter the relationship.
Jimin simply blushed and pulled himself under the blankets on what Yoongi assumed was his side of the bed. The move made Yoongi realize that they were going to want him in the middle and something about it sent his heart racing with anticipation to feel secure and loved in between his new partners.
The second Yoongi laid back against the pillows, Jimin was attached to his side. He wrapped his arm around him and felt the small upturn of the younger’s lips against his chest. “Comfortable, Min-ah?” he asked with a laugh.
Jimin giggled softly and nodded, still clinging to Yoongi like a tiny octopus. “Yeah, you’re like a teddy bear.”
Yoongi scoffed and kissed Jimin’s forehead before replying, “I think I’m a little bigger than a teddy bear.”
“Well, duh, you’re like a warm, three hundred pound teddy bear,” Jimin said simply, no judgment or implication in his tone.
It felt like all the air left Yoongi’s chest, hoping that Jimin wouldn’t notice his internal freakout. He stuttered a bit, searching for the right response, and finally landed on, “I…it’s not…I don’t weigh that much…”
Jimin looked up at him, trying to hide the disbelief in his expression. He patted Yoongi’s protruding belly which was hardly helping his argument a few times and leaned up to kiss his cheek. “Okay, whatever you say, baby.”
Yoongi knew the blush on his cheeks was spreading to his ears and down his chest from the pet name and the implication. He had been suspecting their interest in feeding him all along, but he hadn’t taken time to consider what it would feel like for them to address it directly. Part of him felt confident that there was no way he gained sixty pounds in the past year living with them and part of him felt tempted to ask if they had a scale he could use to prove Jimin wrong.
His silence must have concerned Jimin because he suddenly had the younger's face in his line of vision, Jimin rested up above him on his elbow with the other hand on his cheek. “Hyung, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said anything. That was rude of me.”
The smile came naturally on Yoongi’s face, hoping to dispel Jimin’s anxiety. “You’re never rude, Jimin. I just got caught up in my thoughts. I’ve been wondering how long you and Hobi would hold out on those kinds of comments, anyway.”
It was Jimin’s turn to stutter his response now, immediately finding Hoseok’s eyes for a rescue effort when their other partner left the bathroom. Hoseok looked confused and asked, “You’re not already scaring him away, are you, Min-ah?”
“No, Jiminie was just helping me realize how much you two are into feeding me. Weren’t you, little one?” Yoongi teased, bursting into laughter as Jimin collapsed onto the bed and hid in his pillow with a whine.
Hoseok seemed caught off guard for a moment before he climbed up in bed and leaned over Yoongi to kiss Jimin’s head. On his way back to his side of the bed, Hoseok stopped and placed his lips over Yoongi’s. “We aren’t that sneaky, are we?”
Yoongi was slightly surprised by Hoseok’s complete willingness to admit it, but he was happy to hear it was out in the open. The last little bit of insecurity also was comforted by the confirmation of his partners being into his weight, not tolerant of it.
“I mean, you two bring quite a bit of food home for two dancers that eat like rabbits most of the time,” Yoongi joked, making Hoseok laugh and bringing Jimin out of his hiding spot.
“You’re really not upset?” Jimin asked, keeping his distance compared to how he was tucked up under Yoongi’s arm minutes ago.
Yoongi pulled him closer and finally pulled Jimin in for a full kiss, endeared at the way he melted into his arms. “Of course not, jagi. You’re too sweet for that. But…”
“But?” Jimin asked, looking at him with his wide, puppy eyes.
“It’s really not that much. You were exaggerating a bit,” Yoongi replied, holding onto the fact that Jimin’s ‘estimate’ was a little excessive.
Hoseok looked between them, having missed the comment and watched as Jimin rolled his eyes, knowing the younger was about to double down.
“Yoonie, it’s not exaggerating if it’s true. You are like a big teddy bear,” Jimin replied sickeningly sweet, making Yoongi scoff again while Hoseok tried to hide his laughter.
“That isn’t what I meant and you know it.”
Jimin shrugged as his hand snuck over to Yoongi’s lap, his fingers giving the soft skin a little pinch. “I don’t know what you are talking about, big guy.”
Yoongi rolled his eyes and scooted toward the edge of the bed. “Alright, get your scale out. I’m going to prove you wrong.”
Hoseok and Jimin shared a look that was a mix of excitement and arousal. Yoongi realized they may be even more into this than he thought. He watched as Hoseok grabbed their scale from under Jimin’s vanity, setting it on the floor at the edge of the bathroom.
"All yours, Yoongs. Let's see it," Hoseok instructed, his tone taking on a bit of dominance that Yoongi was trying his best to ignore. He really did want to take this slow and the last thing he needed was to beg them to jump his bones after a few comments about his weight.
Jimin craned his neck from his spot on the bed in an attempt to see the small LED screen, but it was blocked by Yoongi’s legs. Hoseok stood against the bathroom doorframe, arms crossed with his eyes fixed on their hyung’s face so he had a perfect view of his reaction.
The room was silent while the numbers circled and flashed as the scale calibrated until it beeped once and the automated voice announced the number.
138.2 kilos. 304.7 pounds.
Yoongi couldn’t hide his shock. Owl-eyed and slack-jawed while staring down at the red numbers. The only thought running through his head was disbelief that he had gained nearly sixty-five pounds since moving in with them. He knew that his willpower to food and their influence had grown weak, but this was a little more than indulging every now and then.
Yoongi finally looked up when Hoseok grabbed his hand to lead him back to the bed and realized that Jimin was spread out across the mattress, laughing so hard that the younger had tears in his eyes. To see their easy acceptance and seemingly happy response to the number, Yoongi decided to not let the thoughts linger - deciding Jimin deserved an attitude check instead.
“Alright, you little shit,” Yoongi finally said as he dropped on top of Jimin, causing him to let out a loud ‘oof’ as Hoseok watched them with a loving smile on his face.
“I told you! You’re our three hundred pound teddy bear!” Jimin declared as he wrapped his arms around Yoongi’s shoulders.
Yoongi groaned and let his head fall in defeat. “It’s not my fault. This is on you two.”
“Oh really, I don’t recall you ever saying no to us offering food, teddy bear,” Hoseok retorted, falling down next to where Jimin was still squashed under Yoongi’s weight.
Yoongi thought his cheeks might end up permanently pink with the amount he had blushed that night. “God, that's going to stick, isn’t it?”
Jimin poked his stomach with a cute yet devious grin. “That’s not the only thing that sticks to you, Yoonie. Besides, it’s such a cute nickname.”
“You know what, I’ll go sleep in my bed,” Yoongi teased, moving to get up only to be stopped by Jimin’s surprisingly strong hold.
“No! We’ll stop, I promise we won’t call you that. Don’t leave, this is your bed now too,” Jimin rattled out, trying to not sound entirely desperate.
Yoongi and Hoseok both realized that Jimin had an inkling of genuine worry bleeding into his voice. It seemed that the younger was still trying to accept that this was really happening after years of pining and worrying. Relaxing back onto the bed, Yoongi turned so Hoseok was wrapped around his back and Jimin was held securely against his chest.
“Don’t worry, Minnie. I was kidding. You’re right, it’s a nice nickname and this is my bed now as long as you’ll have me,” Yoongi replied, following it with a bolstering kiss. He couldn't but smile at the pleased sound Jimin let out, the younger one snuggling into him as close as physically possible.
Hoseok kissed Yoongi’s shoulder and whispered, “I guess it’s your bed forever then.”
Yoongi smiled and relaxed in between them, feeling more content than he had in his entire life. The room was quiet for a few moments before Jimin yet again broke the silence.
“I mean, it’s your bed until we have to get a bigger one for you, teddy bear.”
“Park Jimin!” Yoongi called out in an offended tone making the other two dissolve into loud laughter. He couldn’t find it in himself to be bothered when Jimin was right. With a lifetime ahead of them and their encouraging ways, Yoongi figured that he would probably end up being their four hundred pound teddy bear eventually.

Healer (2014-15)
Tumblr media
I completely enjoyed this show. The writers play with alot of tropes from both kdrama-land and comic books, but the show still kept my interest. Mainly because the writers made sure to ground everything in believable and interesting relationships. But most importantly—you get Kim Mi-kyung as a freakin hacker!!
Tumblr media
She knits, she dispenses rough wisdom, makes lots of gimbap, and hacks just like the geeky guys in Hollywood! (That's to say, with lots of keyboard tapping and plot related antics that have no relation to reality!)
The OTP relationship between Ji Chang-wook's character and Park Min-young's character is the highlight, of course, but the show is packed with interesting character moments and relationships.
The American show this most reminds me of is Person of Interest which is amazing and I will always love. It's got the muscle, the grumpy hacker, and a ton of fun relationships that build over time.
The Performances
Ji Chang-wook as Seo Jung-hu (aka "Healer"). The show does a good job of setting up the badass fighter side of him. What makes the character interesting is the other roles he takes on as throughout the series. The writers pull a page from comics and give him a "Clark Kent" style alter-ego as Park Bong-soo. This could have been very silly, but Chang-wook makes it work and is just as entertaining when playing "Bong-soo" as he is as "Healer".
Park Min-young as Chae Young-shin. Min-young does an amazing job bringing this character to life. In a lesser show, the "plucky girlfriend" could feel stale and boring, but Young-shin is a character with many layers and a fair amount of trauma, and Park Min-young manages to do a good job with all of that, while still highlighting the fun and sunny side of the character. So good to watch in every scene.
Kim Mi-kyung as Hacker Ahjumma. I already love watching Kim Mi-kyung on screen. She makes every role she plays fun and interesting, but you could tell how much she enjoyed this role. We need more grumpy middle-aged women hackers in TV land!
Oh Kwang-rok as Ki Young-jae (aka fighter ahjusshi, aka "Healer 1.0"). He's not in every episode, but the character is so memorable you feel like he's there even when he's not. Another case where you could just tell the actor was having so much fun that he brings you along with him. Really fun to watch!
Everyone else. Look, they're pretty much all great. Even the big baddies are believable and interesting rather than being cartoon evvil. The tragic backstories are suitably sad. The colorful side characters are fun. Just watch it. Or don't, I'm not your ahjumma / ahjusshi.
TL; DR:
I liked this show alot and would recommend it to people who like Person of Interest or similar fun action / vigilante shows. The first two episodes are good, but fairly predictable for an action show. Episodes 3-4 are where you'll probably decide whether you're all in or not, but if you can stick with it, you'll enjoy the ride!

A Day of Amity: The Friendly Baseball Game Between the Ruling and Opposition Parties
By The Correspondent
At the baseball stadium of Baejae High School on the 13th, the friendly baseball game between the ruling and opposition parties drew the curtains with the first pitch ceremony of Lee Gi-bung, the chairman of the National Assembly at 3:30 p.m.
Both ruling party members in light gray baseball uniforms and opposition members in white uniforms entered confidently, showing off their high-end baseball shoes with shiny metal cleats, but they looked nervous on the other hand. Perhaps because of this, the score was 0-0 until the second inning.
On this day, as many as about ten thousand spectators gathered to watch the first baseball game between the ruling and opposition parties. The whole stands packed, and whenever lawmakers who became baseball players made mistakes or played an active role, laughter, cheers and applause erupted from the crowd.
Kim Doo-han, the head of the opposition parties team's cheering squad, vigorously shouted over the loudspeaker towards the crowd. "In the National Assembly, our opposition parties are always beaten by those guys because we lack the number of persons, but as long as we are out like this today, there's no problem……" Then, Kim Cheol-an, the head of the ruling party team's cheering squad who did not want to lose, also grabbed the loudspeaker and shouted, "Let's wait and see!" With her pleasant and resonant voice, the whole stadium burst into laughter.
As the game went into the top of the third inning, Kim Cheol-ju brought a valuable run to the ruling party team. Against this, from the opposition parties team, Kim Young-sam advanced to first base with a walk and even succeeded in stealing to second and third bases in a twinkling.
In the bottom of the third inning, the score between the ruling and opposition parties was 1-1, as Kim Young-sam finally succeeded in sliding into home plate.
The crowd sitting in the high stands cheered whenever the pitcher from the opposition parties pitched strikes, and applauded whenever Kim Young-sam tried to steal bases. On the other hand, they were just cold to the players of the ruling party. Even they were booing the ruling party pitcher, so it seemed that the stands were totally the opposition parties turf(?) on this day.
In one corner of the stands, Agriculture Minister Jeong Woon-gab and independent lawmaker Paik Nam-sik showed quite a bit of fairness by not applauding either side of the ruling or opposition parties. But Nam Song-hak of Liberal Party, sitting next to the two men, made an impressive contrast by sighing "Phew-" with a worried look on his face.
Tumblr media
▲The shortstop of the opposition party, Lee Cheol-seung is trying to tag out Yeom Woo-ryang who is running to second base.
In the top of the fifth inning, the opposition parties suddenly began to struggle, and the ruling party team spurred their confidence with the consecutive at-bats. Four players of Liberal Party, Kim Jae-hwang, Choi Yong-geun, Yoon Yong-gu and Park Man-won scored four points, outscoring the opposition team 5-1. The ruling party's morale was sky high……and the stands were quiet for a while.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, the united team of the opposition parties started to make the desperate offensives, shouting "Lucky Seven." Rep Jo Young-gyu sent Rep Kim Hong-sik to the first base and entered the batter's box. Rep Jo's swing became a home run, which made all the crowd stand up at once. Amid the enthusiastic applause that was pouring into him, he took off his hat and waved it towards the stands like a triumphal general. Meanwhile, the agile young lawmaker Kim Young-sam showed off his own unique stealing technique again. Thus, the score became 5-4.
In this way, the opposition parties team was almost catching up with the ruling party team, but when the seventh inning was over, the ruling party claimed, "We promised to play only the seventh inning with the captain of the opposition parties team." Then, surprised by their sudden claims, the opposition team's captain Kim Hong-sik countered, "Who made such a promise with whom when?"
The crowd watching the scene shouted and booed, "Damn it, here is another "Rounding off,"" "Do you guys think this is the National Assembly building?" and "Play all the games to the ninth inning!"
The ruling party persisted, "Regardless of which side is right or wrong, why don't we just finish the game in the seventh inning?'' and the opposition parties resisted, "The game must continue until the ninth inning. What a stupid thing it is to finish a game with just the seventh inning." In an altercation between the two sides, the friendly match was turning into just a "fight."
As the icterine hue of the sunset began to cast over the stadium in the mean time……eventually, with Called Game declared by the referee, the friendly baseball game between the ruling and opposition parties closed the curtains awkwardly without award ceremonies.
The crowd was scattered, grumbling, "The ruling and opposition parties fight even in ball games."

Slow Burn Melodrama: A Break from the Fast-Paced
Whenever I watch a Korean drama, sometimes I wonder how they structure and make the story progress so fast, that so much has already happened even if I'm still on episode 4 out of 16. It is not a surprise though since K-dramas are known to have a fast-paced build-up. I may have not watched most of what everyone has on their "Watched" list but I can tell that I've already seen a lot and they are mostly the ones that make me say, "What? Episode 2 pa lang marupok na si mareng Yu Na-bi ni Park Jae-eon?!" Cheka.
Seriously though, I've watched a lot of heavy and intense dramas (also recently finished The World of The Married) - which is also my liking but when I've already seen so much of that heavy-packed drama and conflict, I want to take a break. Not to mention, lately I've been super overwhelmed with school + org + household responsibilities so I wanted to find something, anything, that will serve as my breather.
Gasping for air, I was searching some music videos of K-drama OSTs because playing them are therapeutic for me. Then, I randomly discovered a really good soundtrack that led me to finding and watching my breather. The song is Rain or Shine by Elaine, from the K-drama, A Piece of Your Mind.
youtube
What exactly compelled me to watch the drama is this song and the scenes from timestamp 0:55 onwards in the music video. I was intrigued and fascinated of the mahinhin gestures and I can easily feel the tension when the person was silently watching the other from a distance. These are subtle actions that we don't really get to appreciate or take notice of because they don't seem obvious and deliberate. Personally, it's the little things, the subtleties, that soften me most. And I wanted to see it in third person.
I don't remember watching a slow-burn romance melodrama, so I guess this was a first. And since this was my first, I did not expect anything, but a precious Jung Hae-in that I know will surely melt my heart 😝💓 From not clearly understanding the background in the first two episodes, to realizing that there are other precious people aside from Hae-in's character, then gradually appreciating the sentimentality of a slow-paced development, and finally grasping the entirety of the story, here's what I can say about A Piece of Your Mind :
It's an underrated, heartwarming melodrama, which not everyone is ready yet to give the recognition it deserves. It gives me the warm fuzzies and the fresh air I had been longing for. Not only did it help me breathe better, it also made me appreciate the beauty of the quiet. Ha Won (played by Jung Hae-in) and Seo Woo (played by Chae Soo-Bin) showed that there's something so simple yet pure of looking at someone from afar - not expecting, but hoping, or maybe none at all. That there's so much respect and love of patiently waiting and giving them the space and time to take a break, to grieve, or to be at peace. No rushing, no forcing.
This drama both calmed and fluttered my heart. Too precious, I can't take it 😭💗
There are also many scenes and lines that resonated with me. One of which is this:
Tumblr media
Having a one percent chance on someone or something may be positive or negative depending on how we look at it.
"At least I have one percent."
"I only have one percent."
Usually, it's the latter we tell ourselves. Knowing that we only have one percent can be disheartening and we tend to kill it since it's just close to none at all. But Ha Won reminds us to let that one percent be free. You'll never know, it'll grow when you leave it be. (So, Jung Hae-in, as long as you're alive, I'm still clinging to that one percent chance I have with you and leave it be. Chos. Nagbabasakali lang naman.)
There is so much understanding and emotional rawness portrayed in A Piece of Your Mind and I can't help but cry (I always do). I am relieved that this drama and its OST has somehow given me some healing. It has easily become my comfort K-drama and I definitely want to watch it again.
The perks of a slow-burn melodrama. Never fails to evoke such emotions. Letting us take the time to savor the softness and sensation of the slowness. If you need a break from the fast-paced, I can attest that a slow burn melodrama will give you a peace of mind. (Kahit mapapasabi ka na, "Three episodes left and wala pa rin kissing scene?"  HAHAHA cheka.)
Love, Andie
