They’re close! Rose is the Indra to Jades Ashura, which says about all that needs to be said about it lol

They’re very good friends prior to Rose abandoning the village, and it certainly helped with strengthening their childhood bond when they were assigned to the same team upon graduating from the academy.

A majority of their time was spent together( with John, Dave, and Terezi as well ), whether it be for training or just goofing off. Jade always loved showing off to Rose, to make the other girl praise her and the like, since Rose is a bonafide prodigy. To have her praise you was like getting praise from a god -- Or, at least, it was for Jade.

While Rose was generally not all there emotionally, Jade always managed to make her smile. Maybe it wasn’t genuine, maybe it was, no one could tell, but all that mattered to Jade was that Rose was smiling at all.

And for Rose having someone other than Dave care so much about her made her feel more at home in the village, and was slowly helping to heal the wounds left by the Uchiha Massacre - Until plot stuff happens, and all of that is destroyed in an instant, and replaced by a burning hatred for the village that let Roxy be killed so brutally and did nothing to truly stop it.
