I was inspired by @thedivinelights' art to draw my own version of 2022 Scrooge and Marley where they're the same age.
AKA the au where they've been married for decades and Marley is forever fussing over Scrooge's appearance.

My Apple pen is so broken it’s literally about to collapse T.T
I tried to make Scrooge look older and Marley yonder cause my biggest pet peeve about Scrooge: A Christmas Carol(2022) is that Scrooge isn’t that old…I mean he is but he definitely looks like he’s got a lot more years to go, you know? idk I just wish he looked older. Maybe thats the reason why I feel like the moral in Scrooge: A Christmas Carol(2022) does not have the biggest impact as in the original (or other adaptations) other than that and how Jacob Marley kinda lacks all the things I loved about him in the original book, besides his character design (I f^cking LOVE his character design in this movie) besides all of that
I love this movie
I’ve also made a discovery that Scrooge looks..SO much with a mustache

Braiding
Tumblr media
I'm so freaking soft for these two you have no ideaaaaa T_T
I always imagined Ebenezer being able to braid Jen/Fan's hair when they were kids. His sister could do it herself, but she always wanted Ebenezer to do it.
And now he's dusting off his braiding skills giving Jacob a nice little braid-

“Scrooge was his sole executor, his sole administrator, his sole assign, his sole residuary legatee, his sole friend, and sole mourner”
This shows that Scrooge was an incredibly important figure in Marley’s life and death, being given many responsibilities, such as carrying out the wishes inis will, that might otherwise be given to his next of kin. In addition, the repetition of the word “sole”, a homophone for soul, gives the impression that Scrooge and Marley’s souls were closely entangled, in addition to emphasising how it was Scrooge alone to hold this close position in Marley’s life
“Sometimes people new to the business called Scrooge Scrooge, and sometimes Marley, but he answered to both names”
This gives the reader into Scrooge’s relationship with his deceased partner, showing that he is unwilling to let his legacy die as well. Scrooge’s willingness to be referred to by the other name conveys the closeness of the relationship that the two must have shared in life, as one blended into the other. In addition, there is a connotation of marriage, as particularly in the Victorian era, marriages involved one party taking on the surname of the other
“Jacob!” He said imploringly, “Old Jacob Marley, tell me more! Speak comfort to me Jacob!”
The use of Marley’s first name by Scrooge again implies an intimate relationship between the two men, as both have been exclusively referred to only by their full or surnames up this point in the novel, including by Scrooge’s own nephew. It is also interesting that this is the first time Scrooge speaks to Marley’s ghost as his former partner rather than an apparition, “imploringly” asking to be comforted, perhaps implying he was comforted by Marley in life
In conclusion, ✨Gay✨

Day 1: Scrooge x Marley fanart
I made a drawing for @alexafangirlfullofships since we used to talk about a ship of Marley and Scrooge and we had fun making up stories about them! A while ago, she requested me to draw those two love birds so I now wouldn’t hesitate to draw them and it’s finally done! :D

fun fact i have discovered about the 1951 Scrooge movie
in the scene where scrooge meets jorkins for the first time he says he's starting a new company. scrooge later joins this company after jorkins offers him a job. marley is working there.
later, in the scene where jorkins is embezzling (the scene) they say the company has been in business for 17 years. this would be the company jorkins was starting. the year is 1836, it's seen on a book right before this, so scrooge + marley have been coworkers here for 17 years. in this scene they take over the company.
in the next scene, Past says "Jacob Marley worked at your side for eighteen years." A source I found implies that they're meant to be 21 in the scene where they meet. 21 + 18 = 39.
Marley was only 39 when he died, the same age as Michael Holdern when he played him.
Marley was only 39, and they were only in business independently for one year. one year at most, depending on how long marley was dying.
Tumblr media
whatever these two were to each other, they only had a year in business together.
and that's fucking sad
