You ever think about how with the spin off revealing that Jack’s not actually the ripper expands things a bit in the context of Ragnarok? How despite every evil thing he did in the name of his desires and seeing the colour of emotions, he’s still able to show kindness in little ways even if he might not realise it himself. Jack is selfish, he’s obsessed with emotions and the work only he can see, he’s a representation of the the darkness justice failed to reach for both the victim and the killer. Yet he’s somehow still kind, he loves nursery rhymes and apple pie, he doesn’t care for if he gets lumped with killings that weren’t his own and despite everything, he’s undeniably human. If Adam represents love, Raiden is passion and so on, then Jack might as well represent the complexities of humanity in all its ugly glory which makes him just so fascinating.

This is truly a fascinating way to look at it.

Even though it might or might not be the authors' intention, it truly does expand humanity's attributes in terms of literacy. Hence why some stories are up to the readers' mind (I forgor the quote but ykwim)

A lot of people on Reddit and YouTube hate the spinoff because it erases Jack's character from being the sigma evil piece of shit to another "deep down a kind person and only kills bad people" killer. I understand the hate though, since the spinoff is going absolutely haywire with the characters and plot 💀 But the idea of Jack not being the real JTR makes sense too actually.

Jack was chosen for the title "The Notorious Piece of Shit" by Brunhilde for a reason. Yes, he only kills bad people, but he kills them for selfish reasons. It excites him to see the dirty colors in them (arrogance, contempt, anger, disguise, etc.) being washed away in their moments of death, leaving the "pure" color that is fear. The benefit for society never really crossed his mind as he does the so-called "charity work".

This proves Hercules's point, humanity is selfish. No matter how noble a person is, there's always a selfish wish lies deep inside. However, humanity is also kind. Yeah, so what if Jack was only being good for the sake of being a gentleman? He still CHOSE to help. He could've leave Sophie alone in Luke's house after he killed him, yet he still CHOSE to get her out and gave her some money. Society and his own mother failed him, yet he still have compassion inside of him, sometimes masked behind the excuse of being a gentleman.

We as readers can see Jack as a representation of humanity is their worst and best glory; selfish desires behind courteous acts and kindness behind basic etiquette. Though it's just a theory of mine 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Some people refuse to accept the spinoff as canon.

That moment when Hercules forgives Jack while he slowly grinds to dust made my heart race, there is a bunch to rip apart in this single round.

Hercules gave Jack something he didn't even think he needed or ever deserved. Jack is the living human embodiment of how our surroundings play a major role in shaping ourselves, the people who raise us, hate us, take advantage of us; it means more then we give it credit for.

And that love can be just as corrupted as devilish malice.

That isn't to say Jack doesn't deserve death, oh he does. And I'm sure Jack knows it himself, he may be fearful of it, but he isn't so deluded to think he has never done anything wrong.

There is so much beautiful symbolism in this fight and its apparent reflection on the human concept of evil and good. This wasn't a fight about justice or whatever picture-perfect judgment the gods descend on humanity, fights between such overwhelmingly opposing forces are never that simple,

It's the strength of kindness, the ability to show sympathy and bravery in front of the world's most malicious man.

Hercules has done his fair share of miracles for humanity and prides reasonably himself in his heroics. But he holds no true hatred for Jack, he holds a righteous fury against him, but he doesn't hate him. Hercules acknowledges Jack's demonic, selfish acts and holds an obvious intolerance of them.

But Hercules holds no true hatred of Jack, he sees a twisted soul darkened by his unfortunate loss and weak upbringing. A man so mad he can't see his grief and wasn't til later did Jack start to look at Hercules as more than a few overlapping colors. He relates to his pain and anguish, Hercules was a poor human too before his ascending. Hercules has seen how strong Jack is, he was able to see past his gentlemanly facade and sense there was much more than meets the eye.

And as much as Jack would've deserved it, Hercules didn't go out in a blast of fists and with steam coming out of his ears. Hercules's death was pure unwavering acceptance, even in the face of it Hercules didn't fall into malice, instead he embraced it. For all his determination and sheer willpower when Jack drove his hands through Herc's chest that was it, nothing he could do. So hey, why not have a casually witty conversation with this devil of a man?

As mentioned, there's a lot to say about this fight. Especially from Jack's end. But compared to the last 2 fights this one was more compelling and emotional, not to mention far more entertaining in my personal opinion.

(I'm gonna binge read the rest now, I'm on the Shiva vs Raiden arc! Enjoying the hell outta this.)

-Gods vs. Humanity, a fight to the death with one goal in mind!

-Is it for survival? NO!

-It is for bragging rights? NO!

-It was for one thing and one thing only- Y/N!

-You were a human, beautiful and highly desirable, earning your spot in Valhalla after you sacrificed yourself to save a child. You were selfless, kind to all, and just a ray of sunshine, it was hard not to fall for you!

-Both gods and humans were vying for your attention, however…you were a little dense when it came to flirting, you had no idea these nice men gifting you flowers and other gifts wanted to court you. You just thought they were being nice!

-They also realized this, that you were dense, but it added to your cuteness, but it also showed how many were actually vying for your attention.

-Arguments and fights broke out, amongst the two factions, but also amongst themselves, and Zeus offered the idea of having a tournament, gods vs. humanity, and whichever side won would be the only ones allowed to court you, then whichever side won would fight amongst themselves at that point.

-You were blissfully unaware that you were technically the prize in this tournament, mainly because you didn’t know about the tournament- during the whole of it, you were enjoying a picnic in a large garden and reading quietly.

-Lu Bu and Thor- Maybe it wasn’t the brightest idea, pitting these two against each other, as the match had been going on for hours now, neither one giving an inch. At first the fight was amazing, it was so entertaining, but after the first hour, while not boring, watching these two just beating on one another left the crowd wanting new blood, new fighters. At first, Thor and Lu Bu were bitter rivals, both men wanting you for their own, but after realizing that they were both strong, being able to fight against each other without holding back, they quickly became friends. They felt a kinship with each other, being unparalleled warriors, and finally, after just over four hours, they finally stopped, shaking hands in the middle of the arena, forming a truce and a friendship, willing to share you if you wanted to be shared.

-Kojiro and Poseidon- Unlike the previous match, there would be no truce, no sharing, as Poseidon viewed humans, except for you, as beings beneath him, not worthy of his time, and he was only fighting in this tournament so he could go after you. He had no issues stepping on humans to get to his goal, and he had no issues fighting other gods as well. You were perfection- you belonged by his side! Kojiro on the other hand, wanted to keep you safe, he could see the leering looks of these ‘young ones’, both gods and humans, and knew that he wanted to keep you safe. The only way to do that was to win so humanity would win so he could be by your side to keep you safe and he was willing to push himself farther than he had ever had before to do so.

-Jack and Hercules- Hercules had a similar mentality to Kojiro, who could see how others were looking at you, like a pack of lions looking at a newborn lamb, he had to keep you safe! All that stood between keeping you safe was a man who had the same goal, a serial killer of all people- there was no way that Hercules was going to let someone like that get someone like you! Jack saw you as his salvation, the light his dark world, you were pure, untainted by evil emotions like greed and anger, and he wanted to protect that, protect you. Jack desired to keep you all to himself, wanting to keep you away from all others who would taint his bright light. He had no issues snuffing the light out of others to do so.

-Qin Shi Huang and Hades- Another kinship was formed, both being kings and both knowing how hard the job is- however, that’s as far as the kinship went. When it came down to it, you were the goal- they both wanted you as their queen, the one they wanted to stand beside them, and they were standing in each other’s way. This wound up being another very long fight, as neither one wanted to give in and submit, neither one giving an inch! It wound up being another tie after they both knocked themselves out in a double TKO.

-At your picnic you sneezed suddenly, holding your hand to your face, “Oh? I wonder who’s talking about me.” Geirölul looked up at you from where she was resting her head on your lap, knowing full well what was going on but she wasn’t going to lose you to anyone, “Probably people who think you’re adorable.”

-You squeaked cutely, holding your cheeks with your hands as your face turned red as Geirölul grinned warmly, you were really too cute for your own good.

I can't begin to explain how much this anime has overtaken my life and I blame a friend of mine who suggested it by saying that I need to wait for season 2. The concept is clever, I see it as a big crossover of reality and mythology and I'm here for it. Although I would prefer to see female fighters too but anyway.

We binge-watched it in one night and at the end of episode 10 Heimdal announces Jack the Ripper! I was hooked already but baby now I live and breathe for it!!! My jaw fell to the floor and a few weeks later we watched Jack the Ripper VS Hercules and in my opinion, it's the best fight so far. It was so fucking clever! The first fight that showed Humanity can beat the Gods if they pull tricks on them.

Also, I will protect Jack with my life and his spin-off manga is just great! Translate faster people we need to know what's going on! His character is so interesting!

Jack the Ripper is my favourite mystery case of all time, it's a persona that had caught my interest since I was 12 years old and I became obsessed with any media that explained the case. It's my dream to go to London to visit the museum and the places the murders took place. Also I'm not glorifying anything, let me put this out there, but the case it's so interesting to me and I have read a lot about it. It's one of the biggest mystery case of the 19th century.

I love Jack and Kojiro sm especially their concepts of: (a) Kojiro, being the greatest loser in history, brings home humanity's first victory despite never winning anything when he was still alive, and (b) Jack, who was considered vile and murdered people in his life, fights for mankind's survival and against Hercules, which is very much loved and just an overall parallel of him.
