Redesigns!

So Kandid Lyke and Mayn were the first characters I designed, and Kandid's design was based on the very original concept of Melancholy, which sort of took place in a rural scifi setting. After I did more world building, I changed the setting to a sort of olden times instead of during modern times, and I wanted to change their clothing because it didn't fit the time period or any of the other characters clothing. So here's the redesigns!

Kandid's face is a bit more round to make him seem a bit younger and more naive. I really debated on keeping the pansexual pin, but I settled on the flag colors being pocket squares since it's time period appropriate.

Lyke changed the most I think. His hair is a bit neater, and I gave him a red vest instead of a red coat.

Mayn pretty much stayed the same except I made her hair more curly and her dress is longer.

Let's get into the new character, Rosie. Technically she's not a new character, but I rewrote her lore to make her a more important character. Basically she's the daughter of one of the people trying to form a new government on the island they live on. She's Lyke and Kandid's friend and the three formed a friend group (Mayn also joined this friend group when she was old enough to run around with them.) Something interesting about Rosie is that she and Kandid dated for a period of time when they were like 16/17. After they broke up they stayed friends but sort of drifted apart a bit and things became awkward. There's more to her character but I don't wanna spoil that lore.

In all seriousness though, Mayn sees both Lyke and Kandid as brothers even though Lyke is her brother. She can't choose, she loves both of them equally :)

OC TIME

These are the main characters in my oc story (excluding the antagonists)

Kandid is 18 and can control weather and elements. Because of his ability, he is highly respected and somewhat feared by people who don't know him. Kandid is a bit reckless and arrogant but very loyal to his friends and family. Kandid leaves his island to find out what happened to his mother, who was called to fight in a revolution 9 years but never came home.

Lyke is also 18. He has the ability to heal people's wounds. He and Kandid grew up together and are best friends. Hey, maybe they'll be more than just friends later on but for now Lyke is too shy to say anything. He is incredibly smart and caring to everyone. He takes care of his younger sister, Mayn, and is very protective over her. When his home and island is attacked by the kingdom, he escapes with Mayn and Kandid on a small boat Kandid planned to use to leave the island to search for his mother.

Mayn is 10 years old. She doesn't have any abilities unlike everyone else around her. As a baby she was found alone. People suspected her parents were killed in the revolution and therefore she was put up for adoption. Lyke's parents adopted her when she was 1 years old. Mayn doesn't talk much and always carries her frog plush with her. She loves and trusts Lyke and Kandid.

Kya is 20 and is a revolutionary leader. 9 years ago when the first revolution happened, the kingdom was ruled by Shapeshifter monarchs who abused their powers. The king and queen were killed but their heirs escaped. A few years passed and all of the other Shapeshifter heirs were found and killed. Kya, who grew up during this revolution, decided to help build the new kingdom. However, she realized the new rulers were as unjust as the Shapeshifters and decided to lead the second revolution. Kya can create thought into reality. For example she can create weapons out of thin air which she does a lot. Kya is strong, smart, and outgoing.

Ronan is also 20. He has the same ability as Kya but a different aspect of it. Like Kya, he helped build the new kingdom but also saw the corrupt ways of it. He was almost executed for his betrayal but Kya rescued him and some others. He joined Kyas revolutionary group and became her second in command. Ronan is very intimidating to everyone except Mayn, who likes hanging around him.

More Oc's! This time the antiheros!

Starting with Acreaous, he is the new prince. He is 19, and actually has 3 abilities instead of just one which is very rare. The right side of his face is very scarred and he is blind in his right eye. He usually tries to cover the scars with his hair. He is a Weatherman, Reader, and a Speaker. I don't want to reveal too much about him yet but he takes on a major antagonist role at the beginning.

Hana and Adan are twins. They are both 19 and have fire abilities but Adan also has water abilities he's still learning. They lead a band of thieves that go around and sell or keep things they find. Their father helped Acreaous's father lead the new revolution but was killed by the King. Because of this, Kya is desperately trying to convince them to join her in the second revolution but they both keep refusing. Hana is the main leader of the group. Adan is very good with navigation and planning. They start out as antagonists by accidentally burning down Kandid, Lyke, and Mayn's ship. But later on they meet again and decide to help out main characters.

This is extra but I love Hana, Adan, and Kya's dynamic. It's just Hana and Adan doing their own thing and then Kya finds them and is like

"Hey it's you guys again! Did you think about joining the revolution"

"KYA OH MY GOD LEAVE US ALONE WE ARE NEVER JOINING YOUR REVOLUTION WE HATE YOU SO MUCH"

"Ok I'll give you two a little more time to think about it, see you in a few days!"
