Ricky Starks asked for his AEW release, but Tony Khan won't grant it to him.

Okay, I don't get this. So we don’t want you to leave because we don’t want the rival to use you, but also, now that we have you, we have no intentions of using you anyway…what’s the point here, exactly?

Ricky has repeatedly stated he is not hurt, he did not refuse to do jobs and he has not been given a reason as to why he is not being used.

It was shitty when WWE did this because WWE hired wrestlers they never had any intention of using solely for the purpose of keeping them away from other promotions, forced them to change their name and their gimmick, gave them a couple brief TV matches and then banished them to catering, refused to let them work elsewhere, and refused to let them out of their contract. AEW is objectively not doing the same thing. AEW is doing one of those things, and that's why this comparison has driven me insane to no end.

Ricky Starks can still be Ricky Starks, he can still take his name and his reputation with him to WWE, he can still go around the country and work any promotion that doesn't weirdly talk shit about a company they want to partner with. The only thing he can't do is be let out of the contract he signed, which is the norm for literally every other industry in existence. There's no reason for contracts to exist if you can just say "pretty please" and be gone, that's nonsense.

It is wrong to hold onto wrestlers that you have no intention of using for two main reasons:

The promoter is being an idiot and hurting his own company by paying a guy without using him. Tony is losing hundreds of thousands of dollars by keeping Ricky Starks and Rey Fenix home instead of releasing them.

Wrestlers are not immortal. They have approximately two decades before they're too old to wrestle, and by maliciously holding on to them you are actively hurting their career. TK has taken away almost a year of Ricky's active life as a wrestler, and that is pretty shitty.

Essentially Tony Khan isn't hurting WWE by doing this shit. He's hurting the wrestlers. He's punishing guys whose only crime is that they want to work for another promotion or work period. And that is pretty awful behavior IMO. They didn't sign contracts to sit at home because the promoter is angry with them, they signed contracts to wrestle. And if Tony isn't going to let them wrestle, he might as well save his money and terminate their contracts.

It was shitty when Vince did it in 2019-2021 and it's shitty that Tony is doing it to his wrestlers.

Sometimes in AEW it feels like you only get used if Tony's your friend and if you're not, you don't get TV time or you do the J.O.B.

Tony's pettiness hurting career's like this is ridiculous. Either use him or release him.

Like I get if he does get released or his contract runs out in a year, there will be an NDA and such because everyone signs them and we'll never learn the full story, but that's kind of a shitty business practice.

Cody leaves and has to repeatedly say "there were issues but it wasn't with the Elite and I'll never discuss it"

Punk, in an interview where every other detail is later proven true with video evidence, says "I had to sign an NDA, but not for anything I did"

Kylie Rae publicly seems to confirm claims from multiple people that after being inappropriately propositioned by Chris Jericho, she was forced to sign an NDA in return for her release(and Jericho still has a job to this day)

When will people start pushing back against the insanely shady business practices of AEW and, more specifically, Tony Khan? Seriously, if we got this pattern of behavior from WWE, then we would have the IWC petitioning a federal inquiry from the DOJ.

The deeply underappreciated bluesman, Floyd Jones, who was born in Arkansas and then became a fixture of Chicago's post-war scene, didn't actually end up producing much of a catalog himself. Although he'd played blues in the Windy City from his arrival in the mid-40s up until his death in 1989, Jones had only ended up totaling a dozen original compositions of his own throughout his long career. But when it comes to his overall lack of original recorded output, it is essential to stress quality over quantity. According to writer Justin O'Brien, who was quoted in a 1990 article in the Chicago Tribune that reported on a memorial that was held in Jones' honor after his passing, all of his works "have a consistent quality to them-this brooding intensity, this tremendous sadness."

Jones played with some of the greats-Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Sunnyland Slim, James Cotton and Jimmy Rogers-but he never made it big himself. The bespectacled singer wasn't even flamboyant enough to earn a nickname. His big brush with fame came when the band Canned Heat recorded a hit song called "On the Road Again," which resembled Jones' song of the same name in more than just title. Jones took on the record company and received a royalty settlement in the early 1970s.

Now, while Jones' remarkably soul-piercing voice is what gives this song a good deal of its power, the other key cog in this particular session is the piano work of another Chicago blues legend, the aforementioned Sunnyland Slim, who also happened to man the keys for "On the Road Again" too. But while he's not too showy on "On the Road Again," he provides much more notable accompaniment here, with unpredictably gliding fingers that supply satisfying bevies of flutteriness and repeated rapidfire stabs of the same notes that sound improvised. And while this and "On the Road Again" are both excellent recordings, I think Slim's more unique approach to playing piano on this one has a way of making it more of a dynamic tune, overall. His contributions may distract somewhat from the real star of this show here, Floyd Jones, but, at the same time, they also really enhance the track.

So, Floyd Jones never put out much music of his own throughout his decades-long career, but when he did, you could be rest assured that it would be solid gold, and this song here serves as a prime example.

I am sick and tired of having to give most of my pizza to her when a) she didn't help pay for it and b) when she has the money to buy herself a pizza, she doesn't offer anybody a slice.

She saw me and our parents eating dinner she doesn't like (she's more of a picky eater than me), so she asked if I was going to eat the last two slices of pizza from yesterday's dinner. Mind you, I got 2 medium pizzas yesterday. I ate 2 slices yesterday since I also ate stuffy cheesy bread with mines and I ate 2 slices for breakfast. Meanwhile she ate about 4 slices yesterday and 2 slices this morning. And now she asked to eat the last 2 slices.

I told her yeah, I plan to eat them for tomorrow's breakfast. Mind you, we have food she likes in this house: nuggets, pizza. She just have to put them in the oven and called it a day. But nooooo! She wants fresh hot food. What the fuck ever.

Two things are probably going to happen: my mom gives her some money to buy some food or she finally cracks and cook some nuggets in the oven.

I'm just sick of this shit!

All I keep thinking about are the days when she had her job and I was looking for a job after graduating from college and she kept telling me, "you need to find a j.o.b." And now look! She no longer has a job and hasn't look for one ever since.
