DOUBLE LOVER (2017) Grade: C-

Little cheesy the more the plot developed. More of an old school Hallmark type thriller but with a more serious tone. The ending was kind of silly.

Plunge into the heart of the Anti-Terrorist investigation during the 5-day manhunt following the November 13 Paris terrorist attacks.

Very tense thriller that's closer to being a chaotic documentary than an action movie, which I appreciate.

I also didn't mind that you learn very little about the background of the terrorists or the investigators. It's not in that sense a political film.

While there's a big shoot-out at the end. It's still far removed from similar Hollywood movies, and there's no triumphant ending.

Prove that Jean Dujardin also can play serious roles.

Die Berichterstattung ist allerdings auch schon wieder weit hinterher. François Ozons doppelbödiger Erotikthriller L'Amant double bedient souverän die gerneverwendete Urangst vor Doppelgängern und geheimen Zwillingen und Schattendieben etc., so daß man gar nicht mehr recht weiß was los ist. Die "Auflösung" ist dann allerdings relativ unwahrscheinlich, zumal man eigentlich immer noch nicht weiß, was da los ist.

Brotherhood of the Wolf will be released on 4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray on May 23 via Scream Factory. The 2001 French period action-horror film is directed by  Christophe Gans (Silent Hill).

Gans co-wrote the script with Stéphane Cabel (The Stone Council). Samuel Le Bihan, Vincent Cassel, Émilie Dequenne, Monica Bellucci, Jérémie Renier, and Mark Dacascos star.

Brotherhood of the Wolf has been scanned in 4K from the original negative, approved by Gans. Special features are listed below.

Le colosse aux pieds d’argile (2)

Le colosse aux pieds d’argile ne fait plus illusion. Les pieds de la statue sont en partie d’argile ; c’est de cette argile que nous sommes faits. “Tu es poussière et tu retourneras à la poussière” (Genèse 3. 19). Cette déclaration ramène bien l’homme à son état et à son identité. Mais dans cet être de terre, le potier divin a insufflé son souffle de vie et il est devenu une âme vivante. Voilà enfin un sérieux point d’ancrage.

Le vrai retour aux sources implique la reconnaissance d’une vie qui ne dépend pas de nous mais du Créateur de la vie. La Bible est le meilleur indicateur pour présenter le vrai Dieu et pour dénoncer les idoles qui nous séduisent trop souvent. L’histoire de l’humanité est faite de tensions et de tentations, d’erreurs et de séances de rattrapage. Scénario immuable de génération en génération.

Selon la Bible, le livre de vie par excellence, l’homme a cherché à s’affranchir de Dieu pour devenir lui-même dieu. L’instinct d’autonomie et la pulsion de rivalité répondent au besoin de liberté et à la soif de puissance. Pourtant, le pot ne peut renier le potier. S’il se prive du seul vrai Dieu, l’homme est à bout de souffle. Sa guérison passe par un retour à Dieu : celui qui reconnaît avoir fait fausse route jusqu’ici et qui fait confiance à Jésus pour le tirer de là, a une nouvelle vie. Jésus, le Sauveur, enlève tous les obstacles et le met en relation avec Dieu. Cette nouvelle vie repose donc sur les bases les plus solides qui soient.
