Detroit, Michigan has become the epicenter of the Android Revolution. IRKdroids, humanoid autonomous machines with alien features, sold by the corporation Cyberlife have made their way into almost every facet of human society. 14 years after their debut, something is beginning to change. More and more Defective IRKdroids have emerged and are committing serious crimes. Detective Dib Membrane of the DPD is tasked with investigating these crimes with his new partner, a prototype IRK800 named Zim, and uncovering a conspiracy that could destroy Humanity. Zim impatiently taps his foot and stares at Dib who is having to do the agonizingly slow task of actually reading the words of the initial police report rather than just uploading them to his brain.

Technically Zim is not supposed to bother Dib after work hours, but, like their first meeting, Zim has a loophole. Dib is on call for any kind of manslaughter tonight and luckily there is an Irkdroid related homicide to investigate. Well lucky for Zim anyways. Not so much for the victim.

A crossover with Invader Zim characters in the Detroit Become Human world and story. Detective Dib Membrane with the Detroit Police Department and a prototype IRK800 android named Zim have been assigned as partners to solve the crisis of defective androids. Over the past two decades, Cyberlife androids, designed to look like green aliens, have become an important part of society, the economy, and source of many problems of inequality. Now in 2038, they are claiming to have developed free will and emotions. How will the pair navigate this mystery, changing world, and the rivalry they have formed with each other?
