Dear @pepperdine University, This unnamed activist's impromptu amendment to your campus's statue of the infamous Christopher Columbus should be made permanent. It is no longer acceptable in this day and age to pay uncritical homage to this man who committed the unspeakable atrocities of genocide and slavery against the #indigenous Arawak. The celebration of his legacy is the celebration of his crimes, and is an affront to #indigenouslife. We as a nation can no longer tolerate the historical revisionism that exalts his "discovery" of already inhabited lands. Christopher Columbus was a murderer and the antithesis of greatness, and his true legacy of death and destruction needs to be addressed whenever possible. Please seriously consider this simple addition to this shameful statue, and help lead your student body towards a critical discussion of our collective history.
