I'll go first by saying Mothpool is overhyped and Leafpool had more chemestry with Cinderpelt. (in my opinion, ship what you like!)

Positive:

I did think of leafcinder before and thought it was cute but not really something I'll get passionate about (i tend to be very picky on these kinda age gap/mentor x apprentice ships), now that I'm reminded of it I can really see it! They would have a great dynamic (taking tnp cinderpelt personality into account here. tbh her in tpb and her in tnp are almost different characters to me... where's your whimsy girl...), and honestly, there are almost endless options for Leafpool ships (she interacts with so many cats woagh that's crazy for this series she actually has friends??) that have more chemistry than crowpool. I mean it's fine I guess from a strictly plot perspective (and even that's well. bendable) but why is Leafpool, 30 cat years after their breakup, dead, in cat heaven, STILL deeply in love with cat Clay Puppington. I know they will get back together in StarClan because the authors absolutely love them and think they popped off writing their romance subplot they think they created a banger. Sorry this veered off into negative can't help being a hater.

hollyjaylion, leafsquirrel and bramblehawk are the three shipcest pairings I will never be able to be normal about. Canon to me. I say this as if I'm joking but I'm serious oughhh the goddamn dynamics. On a joking note though, graysky. there is no healthy nothing to see here just bro supporting his bro explanation for whatever the hell gray wing's problem was this entire arc

people complaining about dovetiger's age gap (which are commonplace in the wc series tiger is not alone in dating apprentices) are so boring. they actually have the most wholesome dynamic in the current era/arcs I'd argue. they're in love and I love them. as a ship and both as characters.

fallenholly had the option to be one of THE best dubiously-canon wc pairings to come out of this series had they just went the direction of making fallen actually somewhat more messed up after being trapped as a ghost in the torment tunnels for cat centuries like. I remember someone else wording this really well earlier but I'm not really gonna search so just. Yeah. fallen leaves ships.

I didn't read AVoS in it's entirety (and don't want to. it's... boring for the most part. I mean I love violet but is she enough to make me keep reading all that.) and don't remember if they even had any notable interactions but violetpuddle is very cute and my favourite (and, honestly, only) option for their ships. puddle's mother suckled violet but they don't consider each other "real" siblings just like how their mother doesn't consider violet as her daughter but try telling that to the fandom who can't distinguish between wet nurse arrangement, foster siblings and adopted siblings. Proud only resident of violetpuddle nation...... literally nobody else is here...

long.fire, shadow.root, holly.cinder, bright.cloud, jay.kestrel are boring yaaawn I am falling asleep and do not see it. same with sandfire; these two did not have the groundbreaking dynamic (nor was sand that uh, well-rounded as character) you think they did you're just nostalgic. I actually prefer spottedfire and cinderfire over sandfire. anything over sandfire.

hawk.ash pisses me off because their shippers are always "hahahaha toxic yaoi sooo fucked up they make each other worse!!" but show them an actual toxic pairing and they immediately shit themselves and call you an abuse fetishizer. COWARDS you lot are COWARDS and this is why I cannot get behind hawk.ash at all like I associate them with the most annoying people so much I cannot sorry. I'm sure it's a cool ship or whatever

I kind of addressed it in the reblog lmao but like. Here are some more solid ideas!!

The protective streak from Hawkfrost. I ADORE the idea of him not only protecting her from the Dark Forest but also helping her manage her emotions and feelings towards Dovewing. Telling her of how he was compared to the great Brambleclaw or the vicious Tigerclaw and how much that impacted on him. How he was overshadowed by Mistyfoot even when he was deputy in her place because she'd been trapped by Twolegs and how deputyship was stripped from him as if she was naturally better than him. This comparison helping them to grow closer and trust one another with other emotions, of secrets. Hawkfrost confessing that his father has forced much of his actions and he regrets turning on his brother because Brambleclaw and Mothwing were, for much of his living life, the only cats he truly felt close to.

God the idea of like. Just. Hawkfrost genuinely feeling loved by someone who isn't his kin. Training her now not only for this battle (or perhaps even in spite of it) but so she's strong enough to take on any cat. Encouraging her. Learning of how she's turning spy (seriously how did he not overhear that in canon?) and covering it up from the others. If it gets found out, he says yes, that was his plan, it's to figure out the Clans' movements because they've already worked it out thanks to StarClan

fun fact Ospreytalon is actually an oc i had figured out a long time already because god ospreys are so fucking awesome go look up ospreys on google and tell me they aren't the best birb

Shrikeheart - black silver-and-white tabby molly with ice-blue eyes. does not get most jokes. has a strong sense of right and wrong, and often speaks up at gatherings whenever she doesn't agree with the leaders' decisions, which got her banned from attending them at all. spends most of her nights training in the dark forest, and has lost sight in one of her eyes from provoking the wrong cat. has a suprisingly high pain tolerance and does not get tired easily. whenever she's not in a battle, either in the living world or cat hell, she likes to practice swimming in the Thunderclan streams.

Irisflight - gray-and-white tabby tom with mint green eyes. a clever cat, and a incredibly quick thinker, Irisflight loves to play tricks on other cats, and generally mess with anyone he has decided to pick on for a the day. usually, he's pretty harmless though. has generally more friends from the bordering clans than his own, and there are some rumors around Thunderclan he might leave it completely one day, and settle down in another camp. usually the bets are on windclan, since last gathering a new apprentice was introduced, having his exact same body shape, color, patterning and eyes.

Ospreytalon - a long-furred dark brown-and-white tabby tom with blue eyes + appaloosa mutation. reserved and not a very talkative cat, he usually spends time away from the camp hunting or patrolling the borders alone. considered one of the most skilled hunters and fighters in Thunderclan, on par with being a good strategist and a quick learner, he's considered as a good choice for the future deputy (which doesn't help his feelings of being superior to every cat in the lake). all he needs to actually get that position, is just to train an apprentice. Ospreytalon isn't particularly warm towards younger cats though, so not sure how that might work out...

relating to profic-firestar’s hawkivy post, how would you personally interpret a hawkivy au where bristle is their kit? B/c I’m really interested in it :0

Oh wow. Ok. So I haven't read the TBC arc yet, so I am sure I'll have more thoughts when I have. BUT. Based on my current thoughts and a quick skim of Bristlefrost's history on the wiki.

So let's assume that Hawkfrost survives. He helps turn the tide against the Dark Forest cats along Ivypool's side. This ofc does not absolve him and he isn't welcomed by the Clans, but he continues to meet with her in her dreams for the next arc. Optional polyamory with Fernsong (vee polycule).

SO. Eventually, Ivypool becomes pregnant. Either with Bristlekit alone or she has a split pregnancy (Flipkit and Thriftkit are Fernsong's).

She gives birth to Bristlekit, and Hawkfrost looks over her in his ghost form and adores her. It takes a few moons, but eventually Bristlekit is brought into a dream with both of her parents. She meets Hawkfrost for the first time and she's aware that she's Different but Ivypool pushes on the idea that cats must be loyal to their Clan. Hawkfrost agrees and says that not being loyal was his downfall, so now he has no Clan, but he knows Bristlekit will grow up to be ThunderClan's greatest warrior.

Hawkfrost watches over her as she becomes an apprentice, and in her dreams he teaches her how to swim like a RiverClan cat. She's nervous. She's not sure about it at all. But he tells her that water never needs to be her enemy, and learning to swim can only ever help her.

Sure enough, a few moons later she saves Rootpaw by using her father's swimming technique and Hawkfrost couldn't be prouder. Some cats wonder about just how well she can swim, because ThunderClan apprentices don't exactly practice swimming, especially not like this, but Ivypool defends her by asking why they're criticising and analysing her daughter rather than being impressed by how she saved another cat. It gets them to stop.

When struggling to catch prey, Hawkfrost encourages her to try fishing. She's resistant because only RiverClan catches fish, so he focuses on teaching her about swimming and how she can catch prey (fish) in water instead of fishing from above. When she catches her first fish, Ivypool goes to Hawkfrost, worried because ThunderClan don't catch fish, and they don't want RiverClan to accuse them of stealing prey even if it's from the lake. Hawkfrost accepts this, apologises, and tells Bristlepaw they should focus on hunting prey in water only if they're water voles or otherwise escape into water. She asks why, and her parents are honest with her.

Part of Bristlepaw's lack of urgency over the medicine cats not focusing on the lack of prey is because, while she believes, she's also aware her father isn't in StarClan. If Hawkfrost can teach her to help catch prey, then why can't StarClan do the same for the Clans?

It's Ivypool that comforts her when Stemleaf doesn't return her feelings, but Hawkfrost also tells her that love takes time - from both sides.

That's all I have right now! One day I'll read through TBC and we'll see how I feel about it then. In general, based on the wiki descriptions, I feel like there are a LOT of opportunities and potential plot lines for fitting Hawkfrost into place!
