"Oh no, I have seen a screaming baby before and it once more confirms for me that I will not be having any children," Lucinda chuckled at the sight of the woman in front of her. Frustrated was probably the right emotion to call it but she was not sure yet. The blonde never had been one who liked kids very much, she never had hidden that fact either but whenever she came across screaming children, she was even more sure about it. Not even if it was the baby of a former house mate and someone she regarded as close.
"What's up with the little one? Teething?"
"Pansy, I swear to Merlin…" Ivy grumbled, repositioning the squirming baby in her arms, "If you don't stop, you're not getting fed from the tap tonight. Nope, you're getting the bottle." There wasn't much else she could threaten her with, not that she even understood her, anyway. But, Ivy was getting tired of Pansy doing everything in her power to try to pull her own mittens off or kick off her boots. Threatening to take away her favourite thing may just get her to stop fussing so much.
It seemed as though the threats worked, at least to a bit of an extent, as Pansy seemed to calm down slightly. Glancing down to see if she was okay, Ivy noticed her staring down somebody at the end of the aisle. And that somebody was staring back. Rolling her eyes, Ivy scoffed, "Never seen a screaming baby before? Take a picture, it'll last longer."

@rxxlestrange
Ivy glanced around, desperate. She occasionally still helped at the Hog's Head when Aberforth reached out to her. He only asked when he had no other choice, and Ivy very rarely said no, needing the money to support herself and Pansy. The problem was that she couldn't find somebody to babysit and ended up taking the child to work with her. However, as the baby crawled across the dirty floor behind the bar, Ivy caught a whiff of something pungent. She needed to find someone to watch the bar for her for just a minute so she could tend to Pansy.
Rabastan Lestrange entered the bar at the perfect time, and Ivy felt herself relax slightly. "Rab, you have no idea how excited I am to see you!" She greeted with an unreasonably large grin on her face. "If you can do me a favour and just stand here behind the bar for like two minutes, and tell people to wait until I get back, I'll give you free drinks for the rest of the day." She fluttered her eyelashes, trying to look sweet with a pout on her lips. "Pretty please?"

It wasn't often that Ivy found herself working at the Hog's Head anymore. She wasn't technically employed there anymore, having quit a couple weeks before Pansy's birth. But Aberforth had always been good to her, and she'd always been good to him, and she agreed to take a shift while the pub was short staffed during the afternoon. Admittedly, she did miss working at the pub, but she needed the day time to spend with her child. Luckily, Alecto was around to babysit, otherwise she wouldn't have agreed to go in.
The afternoon was met with the small handful of regular customers she always loved being ignored by. They were all different this time, though. Actually glad to see her, and questioning her on how the birth went and how motherhood was going. It was interesting to have conversations with people she was used to never speaking to, but she wasn't complaining.
One regular customer she dreaded seeing just so happened to enter the pub. Ivy's eyes grew wide at the sight of Severus. She'd been intentionally avoiding him ever since Pansy's birth, and she wasn't ready to see him yet. But what choice did she have? They'd already made eye contact, it wasn't as if she could duck down and hide under the counter. Grabbing his usual bottle of brandy, Ivy had his drink ready by the time he'd settled in at the counter. Sliding the glass across the bar to him, she simply leaned against the bar, trying her best to seem casual. "Long time, no see."

Ivy wasn't sure she'd ever get used to mom life. If all she had to do all day was take care of the kid, it wouldn't be so hard. But working and attempting to maintain a social life felt impossibe while carrying around a child around. She was lucky that Alecto loved Pansy just as much as she did, and even luckier that Evelyn had Blaise right around the same time she had Pansy. It was nice to have somebody to talk to during pregnancy, and somebody she could spend time with who understood.
Watching as the babies rolled around on the floor together, Ivy sighed as she sank into the comfortable sofa Evelyn had recently purchased. "You're so fucking lucky." She said, feeling slightly jealous of the inheritances Evelyn was granted. "I've been considering recently that maybe I should marry a rich man and kill him, too." She teased, "I don't think Alecto would be too pleased about that, though, she's been extra jealous lately."

If she were being completely and totally honest, Ivy didn't actually care that Lily was a mudblood. It didn't matter to her at all, really. Ivy had been treated poorly by purebloods her whole life simply because her family didn't come from money, and found more comfort from her half-blooded friends over those who had pure blood. "But what would your friends think, Evans?" Ivy asked, a more genuine smile on her lips now as she motioned to the bartender to bring over a round of shots for them. "You're right though, no harm from a shot." She slid one of the tiny glasses across the bar towards Lily before lifting her shot up in the air, "Cheers."
the war had taken its toll on lily, while most of her peers seemed to be celebrating, lily found herself in a state of depression. ivy was on the side the gryffindor seemed to be fighting against but in a weird way, since the end, she found herself wanting to be less divisive. more accepting. maybe it was naivety but she longed for a more peaceful world. " well. why not? " lily questioned with a hum and raise of her brows, " i don't think any harm could come from you and me doing a shot together. "

Who: Ivy & @aureliayaxley Where: Breakfast Restaurant in Hogsmeade When: Brunch, around 11:00am
Ivy was thankful to have a friend like Aurelia. The two of them were a bit of an odd pairing, she knew that for a fact. It wasn't often that Ivy had girl friends that weren't just like her. She and Alecto had always gotten on well with each other because they both weren't perfect little pureblood princesses. Aurelia was very much that type of person. So much so, that her parents had made her attend Beauxbatons while her older brother was at Hogwarts. Her friendship with Ambrose was what lead her to connecting with Aurelia, another young mother who needed someone who understood.
Sitting at a table for two, Ivy leaned back in her chair, enjoying a child-free brunch with her friend. "Ever since I've had Pansy, I never know what to say to people anymore." She complained, taking a sip of her second bottomless mimosa. "It's like all of a sudden the only thing I can talk about is what my baby is doing. Her accomplishments and milestones. I used to be fun, now I'm just that person who doesn't shut up about her kids."

Some days, Ivy didn’t even bother to take a break. Sure, working eight hours overnight was hard, but she simply didn’t get hungry in the middle of the night. Tonight seemed to be an exception, however, with a grumbling stomach half way through her shift. With a sigh, Ivy WizMessaged a co-worker to cover her for half an hour, before heading down to the hospital cafeteria. The food didn’t look particularly appetizing, but she supposed she didn’t have any other choice.
She’d settled on a BLT sandwich and a side of fruit, figuring at least she’d try to get a healthy option if she was going to be eating this late at night. Glancing around, Ivy tried to find a place to sit. It seemed everybody had taken their lunch at the same time and there were few empty chairs. There was one familiar face, however, and while Ivy didn’t particularly like Marlene, she certainly didn’t hate her, either. And it was better than eating alone. “Can I sit here?” Ivy asked, not waiting for a reply as she placed her food down on the table across from Marlene and plopped down into the chair.

✉ | Alecto ⇄ Ivy
Alecto: My absolutely lovely Ivy Alecto: When are you next having a night off? Alecto: I'll make sure I'm off too and we can maybe go do something just the two of us? Ivy: Ugh I honestly don't have a clue Ivy: I think I've got Monday night off, can pawn Pansy off to Hunter for a few hours, I'm sure.

Ivy quickly nodded her head in agreement. Lucinda was completely right, being around children was definitely the best birth control in the world. She'd never wanted kids of her own, and now that she has one, she is certain she won't be having any more. It was a shame, as Ivy loved her own siblings and knew they made a huge impact on her growing up, and she wanted to give that same type of sibling bond to Pansy, but she wasn't going to subject herself to another baby. "Good idea, honestly. I don't recommend it." There wasn't a maternal bone in her body, but she did love Pansy more than anything in the world.
"I wish it was something like that, at least then her fit would make sense." Ivy rolled her eyes, bouncing Pansy to try and calm her down, "No, she's just pissed off that she has to wear boots. Merlin forbid I try to keep her warm."
"Oh no, I have seen a screaming baby before and it once more confirms for me that I will not be having any children," Lucinda chuckled at the sight of the woman in front of her. Frustrated was probably the right emotion to call it but she was not sure yet. Ivy wasn't sure how she didn't immediately recognize Pen standing near her. Their tall and slender figure should have given them away, but for some reason, it didn't. Maybe it was because they seemed to be carrying themself differently than before Azkaban. They seemed more… confident? She couldn't exactly put her finger on it, but something was definitely different.
"It'd be quite on brand for you, Pen." Ivy replied, eyes rolling slightly as she held Pansy slightly closer to herself. It wasn't that she was expecting them to actually do something to Pansy, but Ivy hadn't trusted Pen for as long as she's known them. They were always off-putting in her opinion, and she could never understand how Severus could be so close to someone like that.
"Don't know how you could forget, I looked like a beached whale the last time we saw each other." She snorted. Being as small as she was, her belly seemed extra large in comparison to the rest of her. Pansy was also quite the large baby, too, given the fact that her father was taller than average. "Her name is Pansy." Ivy said, smiling down to the baby in her arms, bouncing her slightly to keep her entertained, "I wanted to give her a floral name to match my floral name."
It was a cold winter night, there were light snowflakes drifting gently from the sky and Pen stood tucked just outside the door of a shop, watching them fall. They were waiting patiently for their mum to finish up her purchase when they heard the sound of a baby crying coming from down the street. It rang unpleasantly through their head, they turned to look in the direction it was approaching from and found theirself surprised by the sight of a familiar face. Ivy Parkinson walked right past them pushing a stroller. Their stormy grey eyes fell on her, and then her baby, and followed them as she continued a few feet away before stopping. They didn't hear what Ivy was saying to her baby, but somehow a moment later it was looking right at them. Their head tilted a little as they regarded the baby. It didn't occur to them that they might have been being rude, not until Ivy was suddenly speaking to them, and then they blinked quietly back at her, their expression blank, looking almost bored. They wondered if she would recognize them without the mask's shiftiness and crooked grin. "Wouldn't it be creepy if I took a picture of your baby?" they spoke in a quiet, even tone. Ivy had been one of the many who had found the mask unpleasant, not a friend but someone they'd known through mutual friends of theirs. Their relationship was amicable enough. They took a couple of graceful steps closer, their posture perfect while the mask had always slouched. "... I forgot. You were pregnant, before." It wasn't like them to forget, but during their time in Azkaban they had forgotten a number of things. It wasn't as if they were close to Ivy Parkinson to have found the fact important to cling onto in the dark and misery of their cell. Their eyes slipped back down to her baby. "What are they called...?"

Marlene had been focused on her food in front of her - and her thoughts - and she had clearly zoned out of it for a moment. She snapped back the moment someone started talking to her and it made her look up. Ivy Parkinson came into view. Marlene had seen Ivy at Hogwarts for the first time. Two years older but only one year ahead of her in the classes. They hadn't particularly liked each other but Marlene definitely blamed that mostly on the fact that the other was a Slytherin and she was a Gryffindor.
Lately - as she had started her education of becoming a Medi-Witch, she had seen Ivy more and more. And it turned out that she wasn't half as bad as she had seemed. Not that Marlene was ready to confess that yet. And she had a feeling that Ivy felt the same as well.
"Of course, sit down. Thank you for waiting for my answer," Marlene mentioned as she looked at the woman who had sat down in front of her, crossing her arms so she could lean on top of the table. "I see you found the healthy option as well in here... There is not much choice, is there."

"A child genius?" Ivy couldn't help herself from laughing at those words. Neither one of them had ever done particularly well in school, in fact, it came as a shock to everyone that the two of them managed to graduate. They were always involved in too much drama to care about grades, and neither one of them had any sort of obligation to keep up appearances and actually apply themselves. "With us as her parents? I don't think so, Alecto." She paused a moment, realizing this was the first time she'd referred to Alecto as a parent for Pansy. But, it was true. Ivy wanted Alecto to be there for both of them for the rest of their lives, Alecto really was Pansy's other mother.
It was incredibly soothing to have Pansy calm down. She had been screaming for what felt like hours. Ivy considered herself lucky to know that Pansy had already bonded with so many people and all it took sometimes was handing her off to someone else to make her feel better. At Alecto's words, Ivy couldn't help but smile. She very much needed Alecto, and would be much worse off without her. Nodding, Ivy smiled, "Much better now that I can actually hear." She laughed slightly, "Now help me find her size, she's already starting to outgrow six months, can you believe it?"
There had never been a doubt in Alecto's mind that she would stick at her friends side. Despite there being many occasions where she had been incredibly hurt by Ivy, she had always felt like the other had had her back. Other than her twin brother Alecto didn't think anyone else knew her better than Ivy. So there had been no doubt that Alecto would be there for her. Alecto loved Ivy unconditionally, however stupid that could be sometimes. And she didn't think that would change any time soon. "You never know. She might be a child genius." She mused with a shrug.
Alecto happily took Pansy. There would never be a day that she would not want cuddles from the little girl. Alecto held a deep affection for the little girl already. "Who doesn't need me?" She mused with a smirked as she rocked the girl gently. She was glad that Pansy had calmed down though. Alecto disliked seeing Ivy so stressed. She cuddled Pansy close, a smile on her face now, before she looked back to her friend. "You okay now?"

Ivy's eyes rolled instinctively as she realized who was staring at them. There was something about Marlene that really bothered her. Perhaps it was the fact that the two of them were the same person while also being polar opposites. Surely if Ivy were a Gryffindor, or Marlene a Slytherin, the two of them would likely make great friends. But that wasn't the reality they lived in, and Ivy felt annoyed just from being in her presence.
"Did you hear something, Pansy?" Ivy asked her daughter, finding a nearby chair to sit down in. That was the entire reason she'd entered the bookshop in the first place, because she knew they always had a comfortable place to sit so she could calm Pansy down. "Something too high pitched for me to hear, surely. I wonder if it'll attract a pack of Crups to attack the blood traitor."
So far, it had been a particularly pleasant Saturday morning. Maxim, Marlene's brother, had bagged a date and was seeking some fashion advice from Marlene. Merlin knows, he needed it. Scouring through the shops at Diagon Alley, Marlene had picked up a few items for her older brother, and had popped into Flourish and Blotts to keep warm from the bitter January air.
Running her finger along the spine of a few books, Marlene was barely paying attention, in a complete world of her own, when a familiar voice was directed her way. Ivy Parkinson, Marlene instinctively rolled her eyes. "The baby doesn't bother me." Marlene droned, her eyes looking the other woman from top to toe. "Your shrill voice? Well I do find that rather irritating."

Typically Ivy would never seek help from a stranger. She never knew who she could trust and who she couldn't, even now with the war being over. Of course she never had any reason to fear for her life in the same way others had, but strangers were something she'd been wary of. There was something about this woman, though. She was warm and inviting, and she reminded her of her own mother. Ivy had six siblings herself, it took a special type of person to love and care for that many kids.
"Thank you so much," Ivy said with a sympathetic smile. Of course she understood the hardships of parenthood, but Ivy still felt bad about asking for help. "Doesn't help that her father isn't in the picture, but she has lots of uncles. I never understood when people said it takes a village, but I sure do now."
Once Pansy had settled down, Ivy repositioned her in her arms to make the both of them more comfortable. "I'm Ivy, by the way. And this is Pansy. It's nice to meet you."
the thought of handling six children seemed like an overwhelming feat to many, and molly understood the complex blend of emotions that came with such a large family. with a warm smile, she nodded understandingly at ivy's admission. "i'd be lying if i said they were all planned," she hummed, a soft smile on her face. ron had been a wonderful whoopsie and despite barely showing quite yet, her current pregnancy had been a whoopsie as well.
"always in public, alone, right?" molly replied, her eyes reflecting the shared camaraderie of motherhood. the chaos and demands of a bustling household were all too familiar to her. as ivy took a step forward, seeking assistance with the mischievous boots, molly eagerly joined her.
"of course, dear. let's get those boots sorted, shall we?" molly approached, expertly maneuvering herself to help secure the wiggling baby's boots. with practiced hands, she skillfully adjusted the boots, making sure they were snug and secure. as she worked, molly offered comforting words, "it takes a bit of practice, but you'll get the hang of it. parenthood is a learning curve. it's a team effort, raising little ones. don't hesitate to ask for help when you need it. we mothers have to stick together."

Ivy's eyes narrowed at him, feeling slightly more confused. Was this guy an idiot? A baby looked at him and he decided to stare back? What a weirdo. She did recognize him, vaguely. One of those annoying Gryffindor boys that didn't know how to shut up. This one though, while on his own, seemed completely harmless, and downright stupid.
Taking a step towards him, Ivy repositioned Pansy in her arms, ensuring her eyes were fixed on him. "You seem uncomfortable." She said, her own eyes fixed on him, too. "Is it the baby? Because I agree. It's so fucking weird for them to stare, what's going on behind those big dumb eyes of theirs?"
Peter never knew what to do around children, they were like foreign bodies him. Not only was he an only child, none of his friends had gotten around to having any kids yet, so he didn't really know what to do besides stare back when the baby looked at him so intensely. What was she (he guessed from the outfit they were a she) seeing that was so interesting? Maybe he had a stain on his robes? Maybe she thought they were too big? ... could babies think that?
He was knocked out of his thoughts when the mother snapped at him and he suddenly went ramrod straight, "O-oh, I'm sorry... They w-were looking at me so I just... Looked back." he swallowed and looked down, focusing on the floor; the floor was safe, he (hopefully) wouldn't get yelled at for that. "Didn't mean to be a b-bother." he stuttered.

Ivy was incredibly thankful for Alecto. There was a part of her that was fearful she wouldn't stick around after the news of her pregnancy, but Alecto proved she was fiercely loyal and stuck by her side every step of the way. It really did take a village to raise a baby, and Ivy had a huge village to give her a helping hand. "It's not like she knows what I'm threatening," She replied, "And I'm not really going to take it away from her, I just want her to shut up." It was quite embarrassing to be out in public with a screaming baby, it was the only thing she could focus on and Alecto's comment flew right over her head.
The words weren't even entirely out of her mouth before Ivy thrusted Pansy into her arms. It was rare that she would outright ask somebody to hold her, but if somebody offered, Ivy rarely said no. Once she was sure Pansy was secure in Alecto's arms, she took a moment to straighten out the baby's clothes. She nearly had her boots completely off and her mittens all turned around. No wonder she was having a fit. It wasn't long before she began to calm down, and Ivy let out a sigh of relief. "I guess all she needed was Auntie Alecto."
To be honest Alecto still didn't know how she felt about children. Or most children anyway. Pansy would always be different. Alecto had never been particularly maternal. But Ivy had been her best friend for as long as she could remember. And so that basically meant that she was Pansy's 2nd Mom. That meant she had to at least try? "Threatening her with no boob? Harsh Ivy, so harsh." Alecto laughed, a grin on her face as she came up behind two of her favourite people in the world. She would've had said they were her two favourite people if she didn't have a twin brother that she adored. "I'm sure it'll work though. One's gotta be daft to not want your boobs." She added, a little grin on her face.
At her friend's next words, she glanced behind her, and just laughed. "Some people have no manners." Which most of the time did actually mean her. But when it came to her best friend, she could very protective. "Want me to have her for a bit?"
