I cannot even begin to express how fucking excited ive been abt this manga ive followed for like 8 years has such a fun studio adapting it into an anime and how its been so faithful to the spirit of the story so far and how psyched i am to make everyone around me learn about all the truly unhinged characters ive been obsessed with for so long. Please talk w me abt how fallin and laios are the same but bc laios is a man and louder everyone only sees his strange obsession with monsters and not his kindness and how bc fallin is a woman and quieter everyone only sees her kindness not her strange obsession with monsters. Please discuss with me the themes of this story and the difference between living and surviving and what it means to be alive and why playing god is so dangerous and how the natural order of things has nothing to do with imposed rules and everything to do with how the order of nature comes from the chaos of nature and such things are inextricably intertwined. Please come yell with me about perceptions and first impressions of those you meet and how people can follow your expectations and surprise you in the same breath and depth of character and how different tropes can be played with in so many ways. Please look at the artists sketch pages at the end of each chapter or arc or volume where she showed how skilled she is as a character designer and artist and how she plays with her own characters in those charts where she swaps their races and yet keeps them recognizable and holy shit i cant wait for the fairy rings. None of my current friends care to watch this show or were ever interested in reading the manga i need to talk to someone.

Also I wanted to thank you so much for scanlating the manga! I bought and read the English releases but despaired at the long waits between releases, then I discovered that you were translating it (amazingly well for a solo job!! I know how much scanlating can be a PITA.) I am also really hoping for an anime although I love the manga art so much I don't know if an anime can live up to it. (I went and reread everything and wow the art sure does evolve from chapter 1 lol)

the art rly has changed so much and ive seen a lot of different opinions on how haruaki is drawn over the years, but i think its safe to say the newer color arts are so much better and the animals and chibis are so much rounder (thats also another thing i wonder about if theres an anime, how theyre going to do the animal youkai swapping between human and animal forms willy nilly) (wahhhh i wanna see my scrunglos move....)

cause i will spend only one year on high school instead of two, to then fail and have to wait a third year for a one more attempt

Btw this is just me ranting about my thoughts about it. I just like to do this bc im very forgetful and like to keep track of my thoughts on stuff & what ive been watching/reading

i cant believe its taken me this long to watch solo leveling.

I read the manhwa back in 2019 - 2021 (its been so long + i have a bad sense of time so i cant remember when exactly but around that time sound right. Maybe 2021 is a bit late but i cant remember) but i never finished it bc

I cant believ it opened with a flashback to ant island (jeju island). I really wasnt expecting it. I cant wait until the anime gets to adapting that arc (plus it means that my favourite character will appear) trying to think of his name. Maybe it started with a b?

Admittedly ive forgotten a lot of it. When im watching it i do start to remember some things.

I knew i stopped reading around the time when there was a/the dragon god invasion(?). At that point i think id switch from the manhwa to the novel. I think the reason why i stopped were bc it hadnt finished being translated and as such i couldnt read more, then i kinda forgot about it and where i read it. But also probably bc i was quite new to anime/manga/manhwa/ etc and i just didnt know where to look the find it.

Anyway i remember a few things like when he got stuck(?) In a gate(a red gate maybe) and it was the winter one with the elves(?just rember that part) and theres the cave and he gets the bears as shadow soldiers.

Also when he tries to get the dragon as a shadow soldier but it ends up failing after a few attempts.

Also i think there was a school shooter scene with jinwoos little sister and her friend havung to deal with that

I did skip episode 7.5 but it was a recap episode

I cant wait for the next episode

Also i forgot what he looked like at the beginning before i saw parts of the anime. He looked so cute i didnt recognise him

Now ive just remembered that i need to read the rest of dungeon reset (i got to chapter 99 i think(i think it ended with two 9 so it could be that ir chapter 199). I stopped bc i had caught up to the translated but i could find. I checked in on it and read the chapters that came out byt eventually i kinda forgot as well. I definenly read it well after solo leveling though so maybe a year and a bit. 3 years max i guess)

for yuri anime id recommend magirevo (ill send full name later) its basically just magic yuri to shorten it, and adachi to shimamura which was cute even if i thought it dragged on near the end. and maybe bloom into you, i don't like it but it seems everyone else seems to like it so maybe you might if you do like it read the manga so you can get ending since the anime covers half of the manga.

for yuri manga id recommend whispering you a love song if you want just cute yuri stuff (currently publishing and getting a anime next year), the summer you were there if youd like something thats less just fluff (its publishing rn and id recommend waiting till its over so you can read it all at once, its near the end), and finally for stuff that ive fully read is my wish is to fall in love until you die which is kinda fluffy and kinda not (its also currently publishing but i think its still worth reading). oh and im required to mention pocha climb, it's only 11 chapters and is literally just fluff lmao

ive only seen bits and pieces of noragami chapter 99 and like...how are oyu keeping up with this shit??? if i were full invested in this manga i wouldve died like...a year ago

i think my lack of object permanence helps me a lot in this situation, actually?

by 'lack of object permanence', i mean that i'm suuuuper inconsistent when it comes to reading new chapters as they come out-- sometimes, i can forget to catch up for several months and literally don't think about it, go about my day... until i remember noragami exists and there are new chapters out, hyperfocus on the manga for two days straight, and get extremely emotional (for context,i've been a manga reader since...late 2017 or 2018, i think? but i've first gotten into noragami by watching the anime in 2016-- it was my very first anime* hahaha).

surprisingly, i don't have too much trouble resuming where i left, although there was that one summer (in 2019, if i remember correctly) when i re-read everything from the beginning to refresh my memory, then caught up on the new chapters.

i think it's like. a cycle: i read the new chapters -> i temporarily forget the manga exists -> i remember a new chapter came out this and hyperfocus on reading everything i've missed -> i get emo -> the wait for the next chapter begins and it becomes out of sight, out of mind again

(*not counting childhood anime series (like heidi, girl of the alps) and ghibli movies i've watched as a kid here)

Chapter 2 for this Demon Slayer Quickie. Seriously, Rengoku is the best! And so are the other characters. And surprisingly, I haven’t read the manga yet but will be after this post! Finished the anime and watched the movie so I am completely down for investing myself into it, especially since finding out Berserk is going back on hiatus. SIGH. - - - - - - -

                                       Chapter II: Sounds in the Night

Your quaint room only resounded with your footsteps after your return from your mission in Osaka. Since Kamado Tanjiro’s visit, it had been your objective to gather whatever information you could.

Kibutsuji Muzan had been here. His aura left a nasty trail, as light as it had been. In an alleyway, there had been a small massacre and it reeked of his blood. You followed the trail as far as you could before you were tested by demons in search of being recognized so long as they killed a demon slayer.

Even after you finished the kills, there were no more trails to follow, as if it was done on purpose. You cursed mentally as you set down your Nichirin Blade. It was hard to accept this small bit of information gathered as nothing more than failure. It wasn’t enough to flush him out, and to find even one of the 12 Kizuki was asking for too much. 

The shōji to your room slid open with slight force. Who could be seeing you this time of night- “Good evening, my Sunflower!”

“Ah, good evening to you, Kyōjurō!” You answered, surprised. “W-what brings you here this late night? I didn’t think I’d see you until the morning.”

“Right!” He stepped halfway into your room with arms open. “I’ve missed you, my Sunflower! Did you miss me?”

He didn’t have to ask you twice as you rushed into his waiting arms and embraced him with all of your might. Since his announcement before the last meeting, you hadn’t seen him in about two and a half weeks. Your schedules were sure to differ, but it wouldn’t deter Rengoku seeing you before heading home.

“Yes, of course, I’ve missed you! It’s been a long 2 and a half weeks since I heard your voice.”

He peppered your face with warm kisses all over, evident of how much he adored you. It just ignited in him a need to love you more. “Come home with me tonight! Senjuro wanted to see you after we both returned!”

“Oh, I bet he’s gotten bigger now. But I can’t stay long…” - ‘Because since our most recent visit, he introduced me to his father as well as announcing that we both became Hashira, but he seemed to care less. His aura felt spiteful and sad.’

“Nonsense! You are always welcome to stay with me! After all, you shall soon bear my last name!”

“Rengoku _____. Has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?”

“I wholeheartedly agree! I can’t wait! We should be wed this year!”

“This year!? Shouldn’t we date a little before then?”

Rengoku blinked, dumbfounded. “Hmm? Have we not already been dating?”

“Eh? What do you mean?”

“We have already committed ourselves to another three years ago!” You were caught off guard by this. “You gave me steamed sweet potatoes every Friday, slept in a futon with me many times, and entrusted your body to me.”

A blush darkened your cheeks. “Oh-oh? How so? Um… care to refresh my memory?”

“Nn!” He exchanged your waist for your hands, holding them firmly. There was a soft, somber look in his brilliant eyes when his gaze went over your hands. “Your gifts, company, and affection were but quiet signs of your love for me.” He spoke softly, unusual for his energetic and high volume self. He was serious. “Your exuberance burst strongly from your dedication and your resolve to protect others.” His eyes sought yours. “That night, when you looked at me so longingly, I had to consummate our mutual feelings.”

You could almost cry. “Kyōjurō…”

“No one sees what I see. A generous, beautiful, hardworking woman whose heart for justice burns like mine. I’ve only had eyes for you, my Sunflower. And if I must say it a thousand times for you, then I shall!”

His voice began rising, just as it was in his nature. Rengoku’s passion shined bright and ignited everyone’s will to live and fight for another day, for a better future.

You graced him with a kiss. A real one. Not one on the cheek as you’ve done before to keep face, but one on the lips. “That’s what I love about you. So much that I’m willing to put my life in your hands. There’s no one like you, Kyōjurō. No one can replace you.”

Rengoku’s eyes sparked with hot intensity only seen in battle. “Then come with me tonight! I see no point in us spending time apart except on missions!”

“You make a good point there. Do I need to bring anything?”

“Your blade, your uniform, and yourself!”

IM SO EXCITED. im curious how theyll manage to adapt a twst anime, so im really hoping they adapt the manga rather than solely the game! i feel like the story runs a lot smoother in the manga form and i want to see yuuken animated LOL. an eng version sounds so fun, i have a lot of friends who will finally be able to play!

beastars episode 24 thoughts!

this post got kinda long i have Many Thoughts on this one

Overall I had fun watching this ep but I could really tell it was rushed and there was so much that got cut, which makes me super sad. our fears about the finale having pacing issues due to all the added scenes & rearranging were confirmed & it rly sucks, but i'll elaborate more on that in a bit.

this week's ep covered the end of chapter 92, chapters 93-97, and included small bits of chapters 98 & 99.

so the ep starts with the ED and the latter part of the tunnel scene with ibuki and louis. i liked the visual effect they used to show that they were in the dark. louis' voice acting was also On Point. for the most part i think this scene was done pretty well but I can tell it's being rushed also. I really wish we got more buildup and narration instead of just jumping straight to ibuki telling louis to shoot him. the way it is in the anime feels less impactful imo.

also im sad we didnt get to see this in the anime

before i move on, i wanna talk a bit about louis and his relationship w/ the shishigumi and ibuki. i feel like in the anime quite a few of the lil moments that really endear you to the shishigumi and also ibuki were either cut or kinda glossed over, which is strange to me considering how much effort and care went into the ED. it's very emotional and good but i feel like maybe anime onlies are missing out only seeing the anime and the MV. but idk.

legosi and riz's fight was quite rushed as well. there's so much narration and dialogue missing from it and that really rubs me the wrong way. It wasn't all bad but compared to the manga I just don't think it's as good. I will say tho that I really liked the sequence w legosi and the moths. I thought it looked really nice and was pretty well done.

also i liked how the backgrounds had some anti-yahya graffiti, its a nice touch imo

I was happy to see legosi do the "tell me more" pose but I'm honestly disappointed that the anime took out the whole exposition about why legosi did it. like i feel like without that it's just legosi being weird when he has a reason for it!!! This is just one example of the anime taking out crucial narration during the fight.

I also think it's kinda weird how they changed how louis shows up at the fight. im not sure how i feel about riz just charging at him like that, but i liked how legosi kicked him before they ran lol.

i dont have much to say about pina's small scene but I did wanna say that during my first watch thru of the ep i was too distracted trying to read the graffiti behind him that i didn't notice him getting his phone out of the dumpster and calling the cops lmao

and now... here we are... the predation scene.

overall i thought it was pretty well done but, like the rest of the ep, i could tell it was also being kinda rushed. some important beats werent given enough time to really sink in, and there's a few bits of narration taken out of this part as well that i find disappointing :^(

tho i did like how the anime called back to this scene in s1 when legosi mentions utilizing his strength.

also this part where louis is remembering ibuki had me like😭

I also really liked seeing louis cry. I was crying too sjdflskjdflsjkdf. i thought that scene was really good, its prolly my favorite part of the ep tbh. getting to hear the whole predation scene voiced made me kind of a mess lol. i really liked louis' expressions throughout this whole ep too. studio orange used their whole louis expression budget on these last 2 eps lmao.

seeing legosi instantly get all beefed up was great too. he looked a little ridiculous but i kinda loved it lol. he's so huge and poofy. i love him.

anyway, im also sad they took out louis' line about being reduced to a flashback character lol. instead he tells legosi "be a hero" again which... im not sure about that change. i liked the part with riz thinking back about tem tho. tho imo the way riz realizes he's in the wrong feels pretty sudden. again adding to how rushed the whole ep feels.

before i move on again i just wanna say legosi looks so cute. even all puffed up and covered in blood. how does he do that

i think one of the things im most disappointed about from this whole ep was how the fight got wrapped up. i really like how the cops show up and totally shift the tone in the manga jslkdfjskljdf. im also really sad we didnt get this interaction

tthe anime really took out most of the sillier moments from the finale, which makes me pretty sad to think about. i know the anime and manga have different tones but pls let the boys be silly sometimes!!

the next part where legosi and louis finally establish their friendship was really cute tho ❤️ even tho it was pretty different i enjoyed it a lot.

the wrap-up for this arc and this episode gave me whiplash sdjlfkjsdf. it literally speedruns thru legosi's predation conviction, being released, louis & haru's graduation, and legosi deciding he's going to drop out of school. that is SO MUCH AT ONCE. also i was holding out hope that legosi would have his new years call with haru after the fight instead but that didnt happen!! so it just got cut!!! kinda mad about that tbh. legosi and haru having a lil scene at the very end made up for it a lil bit but that's still one of haru's few moments in this arc that's just not included.

we didnt even get the part wher legosi learns he can't marry haru bc of his conviction.

ive been really hoping for a season 3 announcement once this season ended. with all the background allusions to yahya, the added plot point of someone stealing elephant tusks, and sebun and melon's lil cameos in this season, it seemed to me that studio orange was kinda teasing a 3rd season. but now, with the dismissive way the anime ended, and paru's note from earlier today, im less sure about the possibility of a 3rd season. i'd still like to see the rest of the series animated, but i guess we'll just have to wait and see if more anime is announced in the future.

if we do get another season in the future i just hope that we swing back around and actually address the things that got completely glossed over in the last couple minutes of this episode instead of charging forward w/o touching them again.

i really think the finale for this arc should've been two episodes at least. not including the tunnel scene. i think then things wouldn't have felt so rushed. people have been saying this season really would have benefitted from at least 1 extra episode and i cant help but agree. some have even suggested a whole 24 episodes just for this arc, but i think that this arc couldve been done properly with 12 or 13 episodes if there was some better prioritizing on what to include and what to cut.

like i dont mind not getting the parts about legosi's family if they can be addressed somehow in a future season (or if theres no more future anime seasons thats a plot thread that doesnt have to be worried about). i could have lived w/o seeing sheila & peach's chapter animated if it meant more time for the focus of this arc. and was the kangaroo red herring really necessary?

adaptation wise, i dont think this season was as good as the first. i still think it did fairly well, but i know that it could have been much better. ive been excited to watch this season with my friends once the dub releases, but now im wondering if i should just tell them to read the manga instead. sighs idk. perhaps it comes thru better as a bingewatch, or perhaps im being a bit too harsh. idk. at some point ill do a rewatch and see how i feel about the season as a whole, but that wont be for a while.

ANIME & MANGA I HAVE BINGED IN THE LAST MONTH: May 2021

I've Been Hunting Slimes for the Past 300 Years and Now Ive Maxed Out My Level: incredibly long name aside, cute af slice of life that suffers Same Face Syndrome. I'm still happy to watch it because of how feel good and fluffy it is though, Im probably gonna forget about it in two or three years tho. 8/10.

Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro: I found out this was a webcomic first and suddenly all the HORNINESS made so much more sense. A Femdom, Degradation, Humiliation, Dacryphilia Bullies to Lovers story disguised as a high school rom-com which, I'm not going to lie, misses SKEEVY CITY by mere inches on a regular basis. However, I'm a Dom/Switch and this entire relationship sets off my dom brain center like New York City just shy of midnight. So if you're into that sort of scene, this anime is for you. If not, it's still fascinating but you're probably gonna be a little put off by how mean the Girl!Bully is to the guy MC. Unless you find out something about yourself, in which case, congrats! Stay safe, sane, consensual, and learn about the traffic light system on top of safe words, I promise you'll have a better life in general after that. Still Ongoing, currently 10/10.

Fruits Basket: IM GONNA CRY I LOVE THIS ANIME SO MUCH???? The original anime came out when I was in... I think middle school and my parents were really strict on what I watched so I never got to experience the first wave and I never bothered to watch the show ever after I moved out of the house years later. However, now that I'm much older I honestly can say this is one of my favorite anime to date, and all the characters are charming, lovable, with their own problems that I can connect to or sympathize with, and I love the MC which is always a treat tbh. Except Akito. Akito can suck a sandpaper dick. I'm only on S2 tho so no spoilers! Anime 11/10.

Monster Girl Doctor: went in thinking it was gonna be a monster girl who's a doctor with a homoerotic assistant (her name is SAPPHY okay sue me for thinking it) and ended up watching the entire dubbed harem series. Honestly, I've seen worse and this one has consistent follow-through on interesting characters and backstory enough for me to shove aside the blatant under-monstrousness of the female monsters and the harem-ness of everything else. Dubbing is honestly really good, which is a treat, and the monster designs are not the worst and the MC is tolerable. Honestly, I don't mind having watched it! The mix of cgi and the traditional animation together work pretty strangely though, and it often doesn't flow super well. 7.5/10

So I'm a Spider, So What: Dubbed version which honestly isn't that bad. Took me a bit to get into it, but after realizing that it's got a mismatched timeline a la The Witcher, it made so much more sense. Heavily done in cgi, and you can definitely tell between the 2D and 3D animations, but not the worst in the world. I went in not expecting much but it ended up being an Issekai I can stand and even enjoy. On god has a decent story... with the spider. I'd be a liar if I didnt say I skipped some of the human parts just to get back to the best part of the show. 8/10.

Somali and the Forest Spirit: I'm so fucking nostalgic for this thing it makes me want to go and hug my dad. About a human girl under threat of being eaten with a monster-dominated world. Very obvious "humans fear what they don't understand" message but instead of the humans learning tolerance it's what happens when they get annihilated first so like, kudos for the mangaka for having the guts to do that. I cried like a baby regularly. It's really good, I watched the dub and ID WATCH IT AGAIN!!! 9/10.

To Your Eternity: Oh my god. O h my g o d. Fell in love on the first episode, ngl. About if an immortal being learned how to be a person from scratch. I love it. HOWEVER. Keep a box of tissues on you at all times because you're gonna need them. I'm only on EP7 because that's all that's out right now but just know. I love it. Not for everyone but certainly for my "what do we define as human and the human condition" ass. 12/10.

Those Snow White Notes: A sports anime without any sports. About shamisen playing which is cool because I never realized how cool this instrument was??? Its neat af. OP1&2 are by Burnout Syndrom so know theyre fire. Gonna be real, its pretty alright, but not extraordinary. You can tell they were using the characters as archetypes rather than actually characters which kinda kills a lot of the emotional value you could've had, but I'm still gonna watch it. It doesn't make me cringe as hard as other sports anime tho so I consider it toptier in that regards but if you're a big sports anime fan you might be bummed out by it. Every single musical performance is INCREDIBLE tho. A solid 8/10.

Toilet Bound Hanako-kun: THE ART OMFG IT'S SO GORGEOUS. Listen, if you took coptic markers and gave them an animation budget with some manga panel direction thrown in there, that's this anime. It's beautiful. Gorgeous. I'm in love with the aesthetic every second. Story? Really good. Characters? I love the MC and his evil little twin brother asshat. Demons? Not super imaginative but I'm carrying on happy as can be anyways. Dubbing? A bit shaky at times but I found the voices charming if a little off for some of them. I'm already waiting for the second season with popcorn at the ready. 10/10.

Prison School: I watched this directly after Hanako-kun and it was like I got slapped in the face by sweaty unwashed titties and some fedora wearing schmuck's piss kink. No character is likable or redeemable. I finished it, but at what cost? 2/10 and only because a character shit his pants and I laughed.

Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle: watched this right after Prison School and it was NECESSARY tbh. Its so CUTE and honestly, im not even kidding you, the fucking funniest anime I've seen in months. I watched the dub and the VAs are having the time of their lives working on this anime not just giving it their all but literally just going ham. Its great. If I read this im sure id be bored outta my mind but the VAs giving it a joyous performance make it an insta fave for me tbh. 9/10.

Sk8 the Infinity: i watched the dub with my bro and I can confirm that its a spectacular show because we both loved it and we have vastly different tastes. Incredibly SUSPENSFUL AND STRESSFUL for an anime about skateboarding but we finished it in a single sitting tbh. The last episode is not dubbed for some reason but we still loved it. Like if Free! was less obnoxious but the only fan-service here is Joe ♡ a beefcake who owns my lesbian heart. I think there's exactly one named female character tho and I legit couldn't tell you what it was if there was a gun to my head. So, over all, 9.5/10.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: I'm going to be entirely honest, I went in thinking it was going to be a boring isekai of no value. I was right about the Isekai part. It was honestly pretty interesting and focused on nation building like you're playing civilization rather than the usual "Get Stronger" narrative or "Get Some Pussy" narrative most isekais take which is delightfully refreshing. Granted there are flavors of that in this which means it doesn't alienate the big isekai watchers out there, but it's not the whole dish and it doesn't make me want to cringe the same way others do. You've got a slime MC just vibing and building a nation of monsters nbd. Does lose points for making the female monsters more humanoid than their male counterparts but makes them back by only doing perfunctory fan-service and nothing that makes me want to cry... except the butt sumo episode but in fairness it was all a terrible dream. Literally, the MC refuses to dream anymore after that. solid animation, decent voice acting, decent story, made me realize how HUGE this is in the Light Novel community???? There's like 18 fucking novels and that's WILD. 8.5/10.

MANGA:

Spirit Photographer Saburo Kono: a one shot special by the mangaka of The Promised Neverland! Honestly a really delicate touch of both super creepy and really touching, and I'm not gonna lie I'm bummed that this isn't a bigger project but the single chapter makes it a good taste for their style. I've been wondering if I wanna read/watch The Promised Neverland and now I think I will. 10/10

Deranged Detective Ron Kamonohashi: from the mangaka of Hitman Reborn comes this Sherlock and Watson derivative! Not even 20 chapters out yet with a sort of spotty schedule, I honestly love it even thought it's exactly as you expect. HOWEVER. Kamonohashi the "Sherlock" character uses mental pressure to kill all confirmed murderers and it's up to Toto the "Watson" character to save all those people before Kamonohashi kills them! It's just recently introduced a "Moriarty" family of crime lords (not a big spoiler don't worry it was obvious) so the tension surrounding Ron's past is amping up rn. Personally, I think the art is GORGEOUS, the characters engaging, and the story quick enough to keep my interest. Most mysteries are solved within a chapter or two so you're not stuck 20 chapters into one locked room mystery which is just peachy tbh. RN, 10/10. If this gets an anime, I anticipate a legion of fangirls who ship the two main characters along with their many friends. I've been alive too long to believe otherwise.

Don't Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro: Yeah I read the manga after I watched the show. A slower build than the anime, but it works for the format, if theyd done the same with the show then I don't think it wouldve done as well. Honestly? Cuter tbh but just as horny. You dont start really LEARNING about your character until like, chap 65 tho and no real "drama" happens until like 75. A good chunk of the chapters are like 8pgs so its a breeze to get through. I love these slow burn idiots of the century. 9.5/10 because you can DEFINITELY tell the mangaka does hentai too.

Yugen's All-Ghouls Homeroom: one-shot by the mangaka for Food Wars, it's no wonder there's this constant perviness from the MC, a guy who can see and exorcise spirits. Takes place at an all girl's finishing school with KICK ASS monsters tbh, kinda bummed its not longer. The MC? Blatant monsterfucker who is also a CONFRIMED monsterfucker???? Idk i vibe with that single emotion. Everything else is hit or miss. 7/10 for monsters and cool concept, lost points for the MC very pointedly being okay with admitting he'd wait for the teenagers to be adults tho. Creepy af. Could live without that.

Hell's Paradise: I finished the entire 127chps in 3 days and I was really enthusiastic about it 90% of the time thinking about how deep it was and then I actually thought about it and I ended up being very neutral about the whole thing tbh. The art is fantastic tho, but DEFINITELY deserving of the M rating. Tits. Tits everywhere. But not tits to be ecchi over, no, monster hermit tits on beautiful women-ish figures. Now generally I give that a pass but a huge theme in the story is that men and women are "no better than one or the other" but like, lady tits are what you see 99% of the time. Men tits are few and far between. I call bullshit on most of the "deep" themes is what I'm saying, so it's like the mangaka was trying for those deep thoughts but missed the margin a little too far for my preference. That being said, the MC is a married man who loves his wife which automatically makes him my favorite character so like... idk so many good things, so many misses, but overall really spectacular themes and imagery. Unique but classic all at once. It's getting an anime and I have NO IDEA how much censorship they're gonna be doing but they're going to be doing SO MUCH. Oh yeah, and one guy is a plant/human hybrid who fucks a 1000 year old plant-hermit which makes him a canon monster fucker. And one canon non-binary character who I, a nonbinary, actually like. So like... gosh I've got mixed feelings. 8.5/10.

Choujin X: From Sui Ishida, mangaka to the mega hit Tokyo Ghoul comes this brand new manga!... Of one chapter, lol. Not really binge-y because it's just the one chapter out right now but I'm already keeping my eye on it. The grasp on anatomy in the art is PHENOMENAL and you can see Ishida flexing his art skill which is great. Can't give a true rating but I'm giving it a tentative 9/10 because I'm excited to see more.

Shag&Scoob: technically not a manga, its an ongoing webcomic I binged an subscribed to in one day and I just think it deserves more attention. Starts off funny with "what if Scooby Doo had a gun" and has been led to "what if all cartoons are aliens that survive and receive their powers by the humans that love them in an epic war with Martians." On god, its good. I finished the current series in a couple hours so it's a breezy read, highly recommend it. 9/10.

To Your Eternity: Yeah I watched the anime and then finished all current 143 chapters in like 3 days. GOD IM WEAK. I don't buy physical manga unless I know I want to remember the story forever and I'm already budgeting for the current books out. Yeah, this is a good series. That being said, definitely not for the faint of heart or those who suffer under common triggers like suicide, molestation, death, etc. It's all framed as bad and necessary to the story don't get me wrong, but it's there and has lasting affects on the characters. Incredible story telling by the creator of A Silent Voice. Keep tissues nearby at all times. 12/10.

Dr. Stone has finally reached its conclusion!! pity im buried in a mountain of acads to be able to read the last chapters but i feel tearful despite not reading it yet HAAHHA it's one of my favorite manga. the mangaka has also introduced me to reading anthologies, ive started reading a lot after reading his personal works. alsooo, i started dr. stone last year (the anime and the manga) and it has always been a source of comfort to me. i would read two-three chapters a month and wait for the next ones while i busy myself with life and sometimes ponder senku's decisions or what i'd do if i was in that situation. i would also imagine the lulling of the ship or the feel of standing in front of senku and hearing him say something very absurd. it was like my percy jackson days HAHA i imagined ships a lot and oceans and ocean breeze. it was such a nice manga and i feel so happy and sad it's finally ending, i cant wait to finish it once my exams end! and i can assure you ten billion percent that it's one of the nicest shounen out there <33
