#ive always liked the idea of wataru becoming an older brother figure to haruka when he starts hanging out at the argonavis sharehouse

field notes on high school/pre-argo wataru because i keep writing about him and feel the need to get some concrete facts down on paper before my head explodes
pathetic wet cat aura (MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT)
was really lanky and awkward-looking basically from the moment he hit puberty up to like half a year before canon (+ simultaneously cursed with a round baby face for possibly all of time)
wears a hoodie under his school uniform, a la masaomi kida from durarara
speaking of his uniform, the jacket used to be kenta’s so the sleeves are always just a little too short
seems to almost constantly need a haircut. his hair also sticks up everywhere if he forgets to brush it
very sad/distant resting expression :( his eyes in particular are a lot duller than in the present
(actually in general i tend to draw him with more muted colors, think anime vs. game palette)
wrote poems in the same generic spiral notebook for most of high school, and if he’s not carrying that around he’s almost guaranteed to have a library book instead
he decided to pierce his ears on the day of his graduation ceremony (canon according to aaside character history). they were diy using a kit he bought online (side note this is a really bad idea. please get your piercings done professionally)
diet is at least 70% cup noodles and takeout as a result of his dad working too late to make dinner most nights. sometimes attempts to cook something healthier for himself, but it usually ends up burnt
maintains an average gpa by sheer force of will alone. despite how hard he works both in and outside of class, he gets scolded by teachers a lot for not putting in enough effort because his brain just cant absorb the information in a way that makes sense to him
(ngl he very obviously should’ve been medicated for adhd and Multiple anxiety disorders just like in general, but didnt consciously realize this until starting college and realizing that it’d probably make it a lot easier for him to focus in class if his thoughts weren’t racing all the time)
