“He can hold out a little longer,” Ivan says, peering through the blacked out windows of the Land Rover. 

“I must disagree,” Mikhail, from the other end of the phone line, tells him. “Respectfully, sir.”

Respectfully, Ivan thinks with a laugh. The fucking joke of a doctor has gone soft in his time with the family, but he is one of the few who tolerate the particular brand of bullshit that his boys get into, and so Ivan has let him hang around. It is getting tired, though.

“Do you think I can control the fucking traffic, Mikhail?” he asks, rubbing his temples. 

The doctor, wisely, remains silent. 

Ivan groans, then leans forward in the car, turning his attention to the driver. “Think you could,” he says, gesturing around the cars. It is grass and cement, and fuck these guys, he thinks.

“Not if you don’t want to get into it with the cops,” the driver says.

“I will make note of this. Can you say it again, louder, for Doctor Mikhail Makarov, Board Certified Pain In My Ass?” 

The driver chuckles, to which Ivan smiles, because it was a joke, even though he can practically hear Mikhail's offense. I must disagree. Ivan puts the air quotes around it in his head and leans back in his seat, watching the trees move very slowly out the window.

“Sir,” Mikhail says. Ivan puts the phone on speaker and closes his eyes. His boy can and will hold out. He has not eaten in three days or had a drink in two, but Ivan has looked this up online and it is no big fucking deal because he can last three, at minimum, according to people on the internet. Plus, Ivan thinks, he’s healthy, so he can probably go four. “The director said if you kill–"

“Oh, fuck that director,” Ivan snaps. “Those rules do not apply here. If he dies, that is not my problem.” 

On the other end, Mikhail sucks in a deep breath. It is for dramatics and nothing else.

“I will be home when I get home, and we will make sure he gets more than enough water at that time.”

He disconnects the call and tosses it to the side. The reality is, he has thought about this for the entirety of his trip. He wonders, idly, how much water he can pump into one Leo-shaped body and thinks, no better time than now to find out.

Okay but listen. The cool thing about being an author is you don't have to decide that. You can just tinker on all versions, write them all (in fic, or draft, or just bullet points), and just enjoy them all. And then decide if you want any of those versions to be your Canon. But no one is holding you back from exploring them all, and see what you enjoy most.

It's your characters, and your fic, and you get to decide (or just write five different versions).

And I will read all of that, for any version, and be very excited about it. Because it sounds great, and I would read it all and be grateful for it.

It's something I've been working on ever since Nikolaj entered the picture. Nikolaj is just a nice catalyst to have Petrov reflect on his past and his current life when they finally meet again after roughly 20+ years, you know?

Like on the one hand you have a guy, who keeps saying to himself he "regrets nothing" and his very content with his lifestyle of stepping over bodies to do "the right thing". And on the other hand, who have one of said bodies he stepped over coming back to haunt him and having him think about if the choices he made and the mantra he lived by all his life where truly what he always wanted.

I just can't decide yet if he tries to mend his past mistake or just drown in self-sorrow.

And of course, if Nikolaj can forgive him or just gives him the middle finger and let's him sit in the shit he created himself.

Happy ending is nice, but angst ending for this character arc also nice, you know 😅

Ramblings under cut

Marinette

Marinette has a typical teen girl body type. I don't think that her legs and arms would be weak tho. She helps around in the bakery and has to keep up with Kim. Sometimes she even runs with him in the morning (he takes a slower pace ofc).

She does have neat handwriting when she isn't in a rush, which doesn't happen that often honestly. Sometimes her notes are readable sometimes not, it's a gamble. She tries to make them look nice tho, she has a few highlighters she uses constantly.

Chris

Chris has a sort of hourglass shape. I always drew him as slender and like. Why did I do that. It's a crime that I haven't drawn him chubby like of course he will be. Mf sits around all day and goes on a walk sometimes like bruh. Other than that he has really veiny hands, another thing he got from Arthur along with his baby face lol (although, Arthur’s veins are even more prominent, so much they're kinda concerning). I like how I drew them :]. The baby face is not gonna change soon unless he stops transforming which he definitely won't do. Btw, despite being the weakest of the trio as a civilian, he's actually the strongest while transformed (with the lion ofc)

As for his handwriting, it's not bad. Sometimes he squishes the words together to not waste space and it ends up not being readable.

Stephan

He's already pretty athletic, he used to do competitive gymnastics and ice skating in his free time. Used to, he sprained his wrist (mostly out of stress and to occupy his mind to keep him from thinking about Viktor,,,, it's just.. a thing he does). Then they moved to Paris anyway, so he just stopped completely. He gained a little weight so he started running in the morning, to also get to know the city better. He also starts going to the gym with Kim after a while. His freckles are mostly on his face and neck

Surprise, his name is Štěpán lol. Would Štefan/Stefan be more fitting? Yes, but I like Štěpán more. Anyway, his handwriting is really neat, he's left-handed btw (idk just vibes). His notes are also nicely organized so he's the one to go to out of the yellow group if you need them.

Alya

Alya, my girl, I love her. She doesn't do much physical activity, she usually just sits around doing something on her phone or laptop. But after The Butterfly appears she starts running around more, to get the footage for Ladyblog. Her stamina gets so good omg

Her handwriting is not that bad. It honestly depends on the day and mood, sometimes she can't even read it herself xd

Chloe

Chloe is another athlete, she did gymnastics, track running, ice skating and sometimes ballet and fencing. Her legs are so powerful you have no idea. I know that's a lot of sports and her grades reflect that which is why she needs a tutor. She stopped ice skating, fencing, and ballet when she was younger and now she just does them for fun, when she gets the time ( ,,, she honestly doesn't lol). But now she also quit the other ones as she went into lycee because her grades were too bad and Andre put his foot down (he mostly just told her that Audrey would be disappointed oof). Btw, Aurore’s mom was her ballet teacher :) definitely no rivalry there 

She writes in cursive? She does, to make herself stand out and appear fancy. It does look fancy but she focuses on that too much so sometimes she doesn't write everything down :/

Kagami

My girl is BUFF. Her main focus is on fencing, which is how she met Chloe :D. She has a private gym wherever she lives, so she trains there. She also has an interest in archery and sometimes ice skating so she does that but also just regular sparring. But again, her main focus is fencing, she's already one of the best but she can be better. Her freckles are mostly on her face (her nose to be specific) and are more sparse on her body

Her handwriting, like everything else about her, is bold.

Lila

What do I say about her? She cares about her appearance a lot and she knows she's pretty. She exercises at home but also goes to the gym sometimes (she has to watch out for her asthma tho). Her self-control fails when it comes to sweets but it goes to her thighs mostly which she doesn't mind as much. Her tummy and fingers annoy her tho

Pretty handwriting. She tries to make her notes pretty but gets so occupied with that, that she doesn't even pay attention to the lesson and just the appearance (wow really subtle lol)

Nino

He's the least athletic out of the three besties, he doesn't even try to catch up anymore xd. He can barely run a lap (same tbh). 

His handwriting takes up space and is sometimes unreadable. That's not really an issue because he remembers stuff more by listening so he doesn't take notes. He just looks at Marinette’s (or Stephan’s after they meet) if he needs to.

Kim

Another athletic fella. He does track running and swimming. He did track sooner than swimming but he likes swimming more and wants to focus on it (it's also how he and Ondine met). And like I mentioned before, he runs in the mornings and then starts going to the gym with Steph. So yeah, another strong legs lol

His handwriting takes up SO much space. He goes through so many notebooks, it's also not that readable xd and it's not like he can focus on the study sessions with Nino and Marinette, they usually just end up playing UMS3. (he always loses if you're asking)

Juleka

Jules! She's pretty thin. She walks around a lot and forgets to eat sometimes. Especially when she's studying. Her collarbone is really prominent, she also has bony hands.

Her handwriting is small, sometimes unreadable

Luka

He has a belly button piercing!!!! (very important information imo) That's it. bony hands also

His handwriting is shit. You will not understand half of the stuff (unless you're Juleka).

Sabrina

Just an average teen girl's body, she exercises at home at least once a day.

The best person to go to for notes. So nice, so readable, so neat

Alix

Her legs are strong, she just flies around all day. She skates to school every day (which is like 45 mins on foot). Then she goes to a skate park or a roller skating rink.

Her handwriting is somehow worse than Luka's, like it's completely unreadable, just cat scratches.

Mylene

She loves walking around, just taking in the atmosphere and nature

She has really small handwriting, the words look lonely on the page

Max

He sits around a lot but he makes sure to exercise to make sure his body is healthy. He also watches his diet.

His handwriting is the best out of the class but his notes look less nice than Sabrina’s. He always writes down his full name

Rose

She has a hard time gaining and maintaining weight (even if we ignore her allergies) so she eats a lot and doesn't exercise much. Her chronic cough also doesn't help

Her notes are always decorated, there are so many cute drawings and stickers. It's so adorable

Nathaniel

He's a lot like Chris, except he gets forced to do stuff by Alix

He doesn't have the prettiest handwriting. He usually just ends up drawing all over the page

Ivan

His little sister is a back killer, she wants to be on his shoulders all the time.

His handwriting is on the smaller side

Aurore

She did ballet since she knew how to walk. She slowed down a little, wanting to focus on her grades and the weather competition she loses.

Pretty notes, she doesn't use highlighter and decorations that much, just headers

Ondine

Swimmer, she's like a fish. She has pretty wide shoulders. She has freckles everywhere.

Her handwriting is so round and spacey. She has a lot of pretty highlighters. Also her last name is Rosseau :D!

Marc

They don't exercise much, or at all. They like to take a walk when their inspiration is low

Their handwriting is nice, but it can get messy when they're really inspired and just write with no breaks.

Beyblade headcanons about Blitzkrieg Boys and Vorkov:

Yuriy is from Siberia, whereas Sergei, Ivan and Boris are from big cities.

Ivan has some backgrounds from a Caucasian (from the Caucasus, I mean) minority

The blader with the Matrioska-like beyblade as well

Vorkov thinks non-slavic minorities (Tatars, Dagestani...) are inferior to slavic Russians

Therefore Ivan had to prove himself worth the spot in the national team twice the other three bladers and was constantly reminded he was not like the other guys

Yuriy enjoys watching figure ice skating and can do some jumps, but his teammates think it's a sport for girls

Sergei likes waterpolo, MMA and ice hockey

Not long after Kai had stormed out of the room, Ray, Tyson and Max followed him. Their hearts hurt when they saw Kai hitting the wall again and again, his magenta eyes deep crimson with rage and hurt. Tyson knew how Kai was feeling, but he also knew that that Kai's hurt was far greater. He knew what it was to be without Parents, but his Father and later Brother regularly visited, and sent him video messages .

Ray gently padded ahead, as Tyson and Max stayed behind. He knew that he doesn't have to overstep Kai's boundaries, his words will be enough to comfort him. But Kai needs solitude, silence. Gently asking Tyson and Max to leave and assuring them that he will come with Kai, he asked them to go downstairs and help Mr. Dickinson.

Once they were gone, Ray gently stepped towards Kai. "Ray, go away." Kai said quietly, his tone emotionless. Ray knew Kai didn't want him to leave, he wanted Solitude and silence but also someone to be with his side right now. Sighing softly, he held Kai's shoulder as if saying, 'everything will be fine.'

Hiro had cut the call when Kai stormed out, followed by the three young teammates of his. “Hiro, did you speak to them?” Mr. Dickinson asked. “Yes I did Mr. Dickinson, they have agreed to take Foster Kids in, but…" He trailed off with a sigh. "They are not fine with the Borg Boys. They said the Boys creeped them out and were dangerous." Hiro told them, letting another blanket of unease fall on them.

“I wouldn't mind taking them in, but Tyson won't like it. Ray and Kai have already so much going on due to the two." Grandpa Granger said. “It's fine Dad, we will find some ideas." Tatsuya said gently as a knock sounded and entered Tyson and Max along with a Lady.

"Mr. Dickinson, other Teams are here, and the Buffet is arranged completely." A Lady from the office came, whom everyone recognised to be Alisia- the Receptionist of the Russian Branch of BBA. "Alright Alisia, we will be there." Mr. Dickinson said.

"Tyson, where is Kai?" Hiro asked, worried about the dual haired boy. Yes, he did drive him nuts as Hurricane Jin, but he knew the Boy was the best choice to wield the Phoenix Bitbeast. "He's with Ray, Hiro. He's… Fine." Tyson said, a heavy meaning underlying his tone.

Cutting through the thick layer of tension like a sharp knife, Mr. Dickinson said, "Let us go and have food. I believe Kai and Ray will be there as well. Susumu, Misaki, if you are not too tired, please do join us." He said softly, making the two nod. All of them soon shuffled out, leaving the door closed.

Kai groaned as soon as the Russian team entered, and he felt Ray tensing from his Right. The White Tigers growled slowly, as Mariah came to Ray's right. Taking a step forward, he stood right in front of them like a shield all ready to take bullets.

Bryan smirked dangerously as he cocked his head and eyed Ray. "Oh you are up? Should have kept you in Hospital for a little more." Bryan scoffed, leading into Ray baring his fangs as his golden irisis turnes into slits, Mariah glaring at Bryan as well.

"Bryan, you have done enough damage." Kai said stonely, his crimson eyes staring in Bryan's gray ones. "Oh? Phoenix got a tongue finally eh?" Bryan smirked more. "Bryan." Tala said sternly and looked around, his icy blue eyes taking everything in. He saw Mr. Dickinson approach Kai and nod, making the boy huff in annoyance.

"What are they doing here?" Mariah asked, holding her Beyblade protectively in her Bey-pocket. "I asked the Police to send the Boys here if they weren't to be arrested or taken to Questioning." Mr. Dickinson replied calmly.

"They should be thrown in Jail after what they did to Ray!" Mariah angrily yelled from Ray's side. Kai from the corner of his eyes looked at Ian who actually shrinked, he was just a child.

Just a Child.

Kai saw himself.

His six year old self.

Scared, Worried, Angry.

He didn't knew what to do.

The Abbey's walls scared him.

They made him gulp with worry.

He saw himself.

Standing in Ian's place, shrinking away.

Whirling around he snarled. "You don't know what they have gone through so don't act like you all are superior!" His snarl led to a deafening silence befall. All of them looked at Kai. "We all were trained to win! And if it was a loss than win, we were punished brutally. They had to follow the Orders! All if them were brainwashed into thinking what they are doing is right, they were experimented on." Kai said, his words cutting through silence

"And I suppose you do?" Michael cocked an eyebrow from the other side of the buffet, sitting royally on that chair. "Actually he does, he himself was into that hellhole." Tyson spoke up, effectively shutting up Michael in a second, and making Emily into chiding Michael under her breath.

Max, all this while, had his eyes on the Demolition Boys and his heart melted with kindness when he saw how young Ian was. He was barely nine or ten, hiding behind the towering frame of Spencer who still made Kai's whole body turn into stone. Spencer's pale blue eyes took everything in, masking the hesitance with a strong veil of emotionlessness.

Bryan stood emotionless as well, but Max noticed him tugging cuffs of his Jacket over his wrist, making him squint his eyes in question. Tala on the other hand had his calculative gaze on everyone, but they all knew something clearly. They were not welcomed.

Knowing that he won't have to face anymore questions about Demolition Boys, Kai turned towards them. "Mr. Dickinson has arranged a buffet for all the Teams having participated in the World Championship. Which includes you all too. So go on and have food, avoid the ones which you are allergic to." He said and noted the confused faces, sighing once again. "I mean avoid the food that makes you sick." He clarified.

"The only food that made us sick was the one which had some black or green thing on then." Ian said in a small tone, and Kenny visibly hissed lowly. They had gone through so much. "The food is safe. Go on." Kai assured them and Ian looked at Tala. "I'm hungry." He said quietly.

Tala was conflicted. He knew all of them were starved and tired, and he also knew that Bryan did need food. "You can start with a little food, eating too much will make you sick." Max said, making Bryan sneer at him and look at Kai. "You said food is safe?!" He spat.

"He also said eating TOO MUCH will make you sick." Kai spat back, a scowl painted on his face. "Easy there guys!" Max tried diffusing the situation. "Bryan, stand down." Tala sharply said, making Bryan move back.

"Go on, have food." Kai said and went towards the Buffet to get the food for himself, followed by his own team. Hiro saw all this unfold before his eyes and quietly went to the Balcony, calling someone. The other side rang many times until a beep sounded and an angry tone was heard from the other side. " What the Heck is this Hitoshi!? It's 4 in the morning! " Snarled the other voice.

"Good Morning to you too, Kaili." He greeted her. "I have booked your tickets, and I need you in Russia. Your flight is in two hours." He started calmly.
