some warnings for yugioh: torture of the physical and psychological kind, gore, child abuse, uhhh some other heavy stuff, we love childrens card games!!

mostly, you can read the manga, we like the manga we love the manga its the og nothing compares to it but also you have to read. even if you dont wanna read the whole thing i do recommend reading teh first 8 chapters bc theyre NOTHING like what u expect yugoh to be, theres no cardgames just straight up, saw trap fun, also kazuki takahashis early art is very charming. you can find it places.

if you want to watch anime theres the tooei anime which we lovingly call season 0, the adaptation for early yugioh, kaiba has his hair green here and yugi looks even smaller, it also focuses on smaller characters and gives us that sweet classmates having fun in a horror way (i swear its fun) im p sure its on youtube

if you want to watch duel monsters you have to decide if you want to watch the 4kids dub or watch it subbed, i hear the dub added fun songs and character montages and also its 4kids, you know, ill leave it up to u, u dont even have to understand how the card game works bc theyre making it up as they go so its p sweet. theres movies also but most people only care about dark side of dimensions which is set post canon, (havent watched it yet for *reasons* but the movie looks gorgeous)

In the case u dont wanna start with duel monsters you could do gx or 5ds, gx is very fun and silly up until season 4 then its like, sad, and tragic, duels are very fun and cool tho, or you could do 5ds, more serious and the focus is the plot yeahhh but also the duels are even more serious (i say serious but, come on, its yugioh) theres also a crossover movie with dm gx and 5ds, called bonds beyond time yayy!!

you could also watch the abridged series by little kuriboh, if only bc they do have songs there and i miss that old school editing , also he once retweeted from me so i feel like i have to promove the series.

IF YOU WANTT to ever get into the card game you could play duel links, u can play card games in ur phone as the characters isnt that sweet, i had fun with it back in the day and i heard the events they have nowadays drop all kinds of lore, fun times and easier to get into than say, master duel.

just wanted to pop in really quickly cus i need to go to bed really soon and say that to be completely honest i only found out about medieval times from a podcast. they didnt go into much detail other than the fact that theres knights and a lot of food but i guess that was enough for my brain to sound the alarm jdbdj

ive read up about the place quite a bit but im not too good at explaining so i thought id share a link i found that portrayed the experience quite well! its a blog entry and isnt too long, it is from 5 years ago but as far as ive read it hasnt changed all that much.

if you dont have the time or just dont feel like reading it tho ill do my best to lay out the basics:

theres a 4 course meal (you eat like medieval people - with your hands, dont think mickey would mind tbh)

theres a show where 6 knights duel, each knight has a specific colour scheme assigned to them (green, red and yellow, red, blue, yellow and black and white)

the audience is divided into 6 parts, each is meant to cheer on a specific knight

the knights give/throw some carnations (not roses, thats my bad im sorry!) to the audience (i like to think ian would specifically come up to mickey and hand him the flower while looking him in the eyes before going back to just throwing the flowers into the crowd)

thats the basics i was thinking about in context of the au but theres a lot more information out there that i might need getting accustomed to~

oh and btw! i checked and there is a medieval times dinner & tournament (thats the full name i believe) in chicago! on the north side to be exact, i even checked and itd be about an hour by car from both the gallagher and milkovich houses (not a surprise since theyre like 150m away from eachother jdncjd)

Been playing duel links recently, but the only other tcg I’ve played and still remember the rules of is Pokémon. Needless to say ive been loosing a lot of online duels.

Now normally i wouldn’t care too bad, id tweak my deck and move on to the next duel. The thing is tho im playing as yugi and holy shit, all of his loosing dialogue, and even his loosing portrait is so fucking pathetic. Like i love you yugi but can you chill on the self deprivation for ten seconds??? You’re making me feel like i stepped on a pet’s tail every time i lose, i cannot take it and i will cry

BATTLE CATS is the shit. Tough levels at points but there is a semblance of progress to be had. They added a lot of events and extra shit so it might be overwhelming for new people. i have no idea tho I barely started playing it again.

I'm a lover of the solitare genres (klondike and spider) but ugh the ads. I really only like them for the virtual customization of the themes that desktop comps dont provide enough of and having something offline to play on the go. ive been getting better at the four suit spider games, tho- i can feel my brain learning. 😁

Bingo games are fun! I don't have any one in particular I like the best, tho. Been a while since I played them.

Tinker Island 1 has great progression and you have the opportunity to collect the paid currency constantly, building up your gem vault. I like the garden minigame more than the actual gameplay XD.

I like Marvel Puzzle Quest for the match-3 gameplay with the marvel aesthetic. I'd recc. to play this one casually because progression is nonexistent with AND without $.

On the topic of match games, Bejeweled is a classic. 😊 I loved the butterfly rescue one back in the day and poker version was fun too- the tension is just MWAH.

Grand Summoners is for some reason spending a lot of money in ads because I'm seeing it everywhere despite having it on the exact device I'm seeing the ads on??? I'm not saying it's a problem it's just odd, lol. Micromanaging gear and teams will implode your brain but there is some strategy to it, even if you try to auto everything. They have crossover events all the time, on top of progression being kinda slow but still possible, and I'm quite happy with unexpectedly pulling a Hatsune Miku and evolving her. 😊

I would recc. trying out Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Links out for a test run to see if the grind is up your alley. Very generous with rarity tickets the last time I played it.

For another simple game, billiards are fun too, and easier to play digitally than in real life, lol. You will be playing against other humans all the time, tho.

Injustice 1 or 2 and Marvel Contest of Champions have their own pros and cons, but both are finger-input fighting/brawl games with IPs so it depends on asthetic and progression i guess? If I had to choose tho, I would say Injustice is more organized in its content than Champions if that makes any sense?

Best Fiends is a cute and neat lil' bubble draw and pop game that has some progression to it, but it's been a while since I played it. Surprising for me that I even like this one since the mascots are cartoony insects.

Color Puzzle is a gradient-building/color-matching puzzle game. I played it during my art class and it made me more aware of how colors react next to each other though it can hurt your eyes.

Visual novel story/chapter games are ones you need to curate yourself to figure out which one you'll want to sit through. Chapters has sexual/explicit stories but a beefy reward system compared to Choices from what I remember, plus community engagement/contests. This likely could have changed now- I haven't checked. Other apps have (slightly) animated characters/establishing shots and some are more customizable in the protagonist and reputation systems (romance or otherwise). They all blended together in my mind like a big soup of colors, but i will tell you that the paid currency choices are never worth it.

(Pixel) Color-by-number games are fun pastimes until they hurt your eyes and drain your device battery.

South Park Phone Destroyer was fun for a bit. Until it wasn't.

Dream Girlfriend is the best Ambition gacha/character simulation game they have, prove me wrong.

side note: have you ever played a mobile game that got deleted? one that was solely a play-to-win that was also fun in general and you were close to maxing out your characters? yeah, it's worse than the pain you feel when you discover your fave fic has been deleted from the internet😢

i started watching arc v! finally. after years of saying Im Gonna. its Happening. (i've tried to twice and cant recall what eps i got to in those attempts, because I literally dont remember anything at ALL LMAO) I'm like, 15 eps in and may I just say some Things. ep 1-15 thoughts below the Cut

-yuzu best girl immediately my god shes already been done dirty tho. she shouldve gotten to fight shingo! fuck emo yuya for stopping it and stepping in! (altho yaaaay xyz :3 my beloved) and also she loses the first duel we see her get to do? when her dad is literally the owner of a duel school?? and his school was at stake?? bc she was distracted thinking of Not Yuya? no. fuck off with that lol I'm picking her up and mentally rewriting all that. the girl she dueled against was super fun tho, I ship them tbh.

-yuya is finally the canonical clown ygo protag I needed. he dresses as a clown in ep 1! he has! a circus deck! thats so fun! hes a LOT more melancholic/prone to moodiness than I expected...the goggles as a mood indicator is fun. also seems to care VERY much what ppl think/need lots of applause and praise or he gets upset quickly which. like, wanting to put smiles on ppls faces with dueling is a sweet goal, but a lot of it feels self-serving, too, which is Inchresting for a protag...I LIKE it and want to see where it goes

-and the whole 'laugh when you want to cry' is, ngl, very Bad and Unhealthy and I cant imagine we're going anywhere good with that. (seriously, dont recall what ep, maybe 4 or 5, when the kids and yuzu were in danger he started LAUGHING trying to imrpove his own mood and i was like DUDE. UNNERVING STOP THAT.) let him feel his feelings guys. or this is going to go severely Bad I Think

-dont trust sora but also no shit? his intro is him being sus, basically outright saying 'ya where I come from everyone does fusion, nbd' yeah hes some kind of spy or SOMETHING for that academia that emo yuya was taking abt. and his deck is very cute but also has a dark side/creepy cute thing going on and this is ygo where Decks Indicate Personality, so. just kinda Waiting for him to Stab Backs. hes already kind of a little shit

-he 100% shouldve been dueling that guy gongenzaka had to duel! gongenzaka doesnt even GO here and ms Chairman said someone from this school had to duel her school students! if you want to fake being friends with yuya! you need to fucking put in some EFFORT!!! and at least pretend to give a shit dude, this is the school the guy you supposedly admire attends!!! it comes off as u not giving a fuck abt anything besides pendulum/yuya-related stuff which is gonna make yuya less inclined to wanna be ur friend bc u look like a brat! (I know the meta answer is that they wanted to give gongenzaka some screentime to convince me hes yuyas bff or w/e but. in my mind its been 10 or so eps by this point, yuzu is yuyas bff in my mind lol. )

-anyway that aside soras deck is SO cute. the BEARS!! ARE IN!!!! the 'acting younger/cuter than u are' shtick is already kind of annoying tho. I do like his chara design tho (at least his hair/face? Id redesign his outfit ngl if hes going for a cutecore/sweets theme why not go ALL in yk)

-gongenzaka's whole 'no spells/traps' and standing in one spot during an action duel is objectively really funny

-action duels in general are SO FUN!!! i want to ride my monsters too..i kno theyd be soft. pls.

-really wanted to see more masumi or her vs yuya!!! so sad reiji stepped in. pls let the girls DO MORE!!! i love that she used gem knights!! I love gem knights!!!

-didnt know reiji used d/d/d cards, immediately broke out into a cold sweat upon seeing them. those decks always destroy me in duel links in like 2 turns jkasfkjjn.

-its so funny theres entire classes just for synchro and xyz and most ppl in this world can just Do One of them Only. like everyone being SHOCKED reiji can do All of them LMAO.

-surprised at how much I like reiji actually from just what ive seen up to this point, I mean I Like the other ygo rivals and all but usually they have an Attitude...but hes very polite to yuya and him saying he respects yuya's dad is REFRESHING compared to everyone else calling his dad a coward (for?? seemingly going MISSING??) his fashion choices leave a lot to be desired tho. but otherwise him and yuzu are my favs so far I think...we'll see if this changes!

halloween costume headcanons for all the vrains lads:

Yusaku: vampire (he saw a vampire costume a few years ago, thought ‘fuck it’ and got it. He thought it looked badass- and it does. For some reason it still fits, which is also really cool cuz he still likes it and can’t buy another. There was also a wig, but its all tangled now to the extent where he cant wear it).

Takeru: werewolf (He wanted to be a zombie. But... he found out Kiku once had a crush on remus lupin from harry potter, and he hasn’t seen the films/read the books nor does he know anything about harry potter, but once someone made a joke online about remus being a werewolf and for some reason Takeru remembered it, hence the werewolf costume to show off to kiku).

Aoi: cat (I dont have any detailed headcanon, i just know she has dressed as a cat. You don’t need context. I just know my child).

Ryoken: vampire (ok before i give the context: yeah motherfuckers, i repeated the costume. Its not the same as Yusaku’s tho. Ryoken’s costume is purple and black wheras Yusaku’s was red and black, and Ryoken got weird add ons like fake pointy vampire teeth and bs like that.

Okay so Ryoken saw the costume online and thought that maybe it would be cool if he and spectre had matching costumes (im respectfulshipping till the day i die, sorry) so he asked spectre who said ‘fuck yeah’ so they got the costumes. Pro tip: Dont order online without checking the reviews. These costumes were actually in kids sizes, but cuz spectre is tall af he had to get one of the larger sizes and cuz Ryoken is smol af he can easily wear larger kids sizes, so the one they got for spectre looked great on Ryoken.

Spectre (continuing from the last one lol): Skeleton (okay so after the internet shopping fail with Ryoken, Spectre ended up going to a costume store nearby, this was about 2 days before Halloween so the options were rather limited, the only one he thought was ‘okay’ (he didnt really like any of them) was a skeleton costume, so he got that one).

Wow with Ryoken’s and Spectres, i could write a fluff fanfic oneshot lmao, okay ive gone off topic. Back to the costumes lol

Ai: legit canonically has a witch costume (we see him wear a witch costume, not only in the episode where playmaker does the first ritual summon of vrains and also on one of the @ignister cards. Its canon. His soltis outfit already looks kinda spooky-ish but i feel like he’d wanna be extra and change it up on halloween so he wears the witch one.

Shoichi: Zombie (i got no detailed headcanons here, folks. I just know).

Jin: Zombie (imitated Shoichi).

Ema: Harlequin (only costume she could find that she liked, also she actually dyes her hair for it. She considers wigs to be nasty, and she cant fit all her hair into a wig cap).

Akira: werewolf (just thinking of that card combo he used in his duel against Yusaku, the cards tindangle hound and tindangle angel were able to resurrect eachother due to their card effects. Akira thought it would be cool if he and Aoi got costumes that were a wolf and angel because of this, but Aoi really wanted to be a cat because if she wanted to be an angel she’d just go into link vrains. At the time, she didn’t get that Akira was trying to put symbolism stuff into it).

Hayami: creepy looking doll costume (she wore it to a Halloween party at her university a few years ago, of course it ended up like that Halloween party scene in ‘mean girls’. Everyone else used halloween as an excuse to dress like a hoe, not Hayami though. Her creepy doll costume looked great, the university whores calling it childish were horrible people).

Other smol headcanons (i stopped giving a fuck about formatting at this point)

Aso once dared Genome to get a doll costume, and he did. The jokes on Aso. He thought it looked fabulous.

Go Onizuka doesnt dress up, but he helped the orphans make homemade costumes.

Flame and Aqua cant wear halloween costumes because of what attribute ignis they are. Flame’s keep setting on fire and Aqua’s get wet.

Windy has a ghost costume and he keeps trying to scare the other ignis with it, so far he hasnt been successful with anyone but Ai.

Miyu has a mermaid costume she made herself, but she cant walk in it of course because mermaid dont have feet so she never actually wore it trick or treating or anything like that.

Kengo just doesnt wear his prosthetic arm and puts fake blood all arround the part where his arm used to be. He likes doing this because everyone thinks its just part of his costume and that he probably still has both arms and is just hiding the other one or something.

Maybe in that Zelda/Link throw down AU, Mipha is a bit older and actually massive and also the definition of a warrior princess so she and Zelda actually get along even tho Zelda is being a huge tool to Link. Mipha just thinks it’s funny as hell in the grand scheme of things, but mostly because she’s like 200 years old already and doesn’t give a fuck about stuff. 

Mipha is just like “buck up, kiddo. this is hilarious” and Link is like “IVE HAD ENOUGH OF YOUR IMMORTAL PRINCESS BULLSHIP MIPHA!!!” and 90% of their interactions are Mipha being like AHAHAHA THIS IS CUTE while Link fumes and tries to get her attention. They also duel a lot.

What I'm saying is this is the Link Fights With Princesses AU.

as im trying to looking forward, a part of me is whispering failure.. can I make something, something beautiful, something inspiring, encouraging? to spread a heartfelt smile on somebody’s face, reassuring whoever is behind their computer screen there is reason, no matter how stupid or small it is, to laugh or smile. I want to remind people how video games are really meant to be played, what creates the pro environment and  competition in the first place, showing them how to have fun with their video games, showing them how to enjoy spending their free time so that its at least not wasted. If I can leave at least one thing to take away and let people know they feel reassured, loved, supported, not alone then all the time I put into the videos im making have been worth my time.  Acts of kindness, sportsmanship good cheer. Make them feel like holy crap this makes me want to play this game

Here i go as I just write down whatever im thinking about:

some of the funnest games I really enjoyed playing as a kid: Super Smash bros melee: at first had all my favorite characters from different games EVER , kirby, pikachu, mario, all these nintendo characters like Link, Fire emblem’s marth and roy, so much variety Pokemon: such a fun adventure, not having much access to the internet , the world was magical, every corner was a new surprise. There were random Pokeballs on the floor, instances where your in game rival would show up and challenge you to a battle with his own unique pokemon.  the pokemon I had felt unique, the team I had felt special and I bonded with these pokemon. I didnt have in mind what my friends or any one else who also played the video game what strategies or pokemon they thought were good and were their own personal favorite. The competition element fair and exciting because there weren’t many popular guides or communities and forums that people were aware of. Internet spoiled the fun because it exposed many of the surprises and secrets of the game. It almost was as if there was a person sitting next to me telling me how they already beat the game, caught all 150 pokemon telling me which pokemon were trash and not worth my time, the perfect IVs and proper way of how to make the strongest team possible. Though they may be right it totally killed my joy for the game, stripping of the surprise and wonder element video games used to hold as this now apple is to almost every other video game. and altho the right answer is to not focus and compare my self to the people surrounding me its like someone standing right behind me saying video games are FAKE, WASTE OF TIME. So spending my free time trying to  Man people need to pay less attention to how others are spending their time playing video games. MANNN you’re winning if you’re enjoying your time having fun whether kicking ass, accomplishing a hard puzzle or challenge, discover something rare on your own again i guess thats added to your personal merit, get a good laugh, listening to good music, reminds you of something important to you whether its through story telling and the music, whether its learning more about experiences and other people around you. Theres so much video games could teach you, what you could learn from. like many other hobbies or people like to do on their spare time, video games are another outlet of creating happy memories, memories that could be shared with the people we love. I find my self exploring all these different video games to try and remember why I fell in love with video games when I was a lot younger. What made it so exciting and fun, and when I let something else rob me of that joy. I remember when I was in elementary school my brother and I had our own Gameboy Colors. I had purple one given from my Auntie and my brother had a neon Green gameboy color that was given from our grandpa’s brother, i guess granduncle. Both of us had our seperate Pokemon version where Pokemon Red was my first video game ever and my brother had Pokemon Yellow.  anyways my mom would only allow us to play for an hour or two a day and I just remember my sister wanting to play pokemon too and so I let her play mine, and althouhg i wasnt playing I really enjoyed watching them just play. I felt so happy that we were all able to play together even if I was just watching my brother thumb through his starting Pokemon team in Saffron city. Idk why thats so vivid. We had to share alot things growing up, rooms, 1 hour turns on the computer, hand me down clothes, Gamecube turns. i remember i bought a tv plugin game which was star wars/ spongebob that didnt need a console. it had 5 games in it , but crowding around the small tv in me and my brothers room playing video games together.. i miss that so much. i just wanted us to get along and have fun. 

god i always hear people saying that their entire life they were losers and the bullied kid, but did they ever have a fanny pack with 100 calorie Special K bars on 1,000 diet imitating their favorite Taijustus specialist? (Rock Lee Image) I used to be obssesed with my eating only 1,000 calories a day because I was pretty chunky in middle school. One time in PE we had to do our quarterly mile run and I remember always dreading these big days. Every week we had to run around the track for 20 minutes, no walking, and see how many laps you could run in that time. We were graded on how many laps we could run, 6 laps was  D , 7 Laps was a C , 8 Laps was a B, 9 and more was an A. I dreaded every single week for these 20 minute runs, but I celebrated super heavily after it we were done. I was always super nervous and anxious thinking about these days because I always forced myself to do my absolute best. I hated the thought of competing with the people next to me. I used to run 10 laps and my best being 11 laps, which I thought was insanely good. The fastest was I think 12 or 13 laps but they werent in my class. I suppose I felt proud of what I accomplished, my classmates thought I was fast. I would wear shorts everyday in middle school. In 4th and 5th grade I used to run 3 miles every day in the summer with my grandpa and sometimes my sister  because I came home one day from a a Dr.’s Checkup saying that my cholesterol was pretty high. Seperate from my school’s 5k I only entered one 5k run with my grandpa who did the 7k run. I felt horrible because I was just overweight and I didnt find myself that attractive. God, especially when your older brother was more handsome had abs and biceps since 5th grade. ��ashjdkasld yeah this is where my self esteem issues come from, but anyways, I was complimented on my  buldgy calves. They were pretty big, for a big boy like my self. I remember one time when runnign the 20 minute run I always thought about falling over and getting hurt so I didnt have to run, mentally I wanted to just stop myself from pushing my body. ashdbjnka My best mile time was 5:37 by the way. When it was raining and they made us stay inside our school’s gym, playing dodgeball. I WAS SO HAPPY. I would pray that it would rain enough so that the track would be too wet where we all the PE classes would have to walk around the basketball quarts and then the other  half o the class would have to play basketball. I WAS ALWAYS SUPER EXCITED. Those were the best days regular days of school. of course not more exciting than Game days, honor-roll Bingo , or field trips of course AHAHA One time I brought I red chocolate balls that I got from people standing in front of safeway that were wrapped neatly in this plastic bag. I gave some to my friends before we ran, thinking wow we could be just like Choji and his ration pellets. Jesus. It was just concentrated choclate balls of sugar.   -- It was pretty good tho. Middle school was awesome. I did whatever I wanted no matter how uncool people thought it was. I thought that just doing what I loved was the coolest thing ever. I used to read the Shonen Jump manga magazines and I was reading the YugiOh Gx weekly chapter and Jesus H. christ it looked so fun. The next day I talked to my friend who was fanatic about Yugioh and he helped me create a deck. The next two years FUHHHH our whole friend group was playing yugioh. It felt like some anime, going home editing decks, dueling in my friends garage drinking cans of Dr. Pepper and honey Twisted BBQ chips. Playing some Halo 3 and Pokemon Stadium 2 on the side. IT WAS SO FUN. When we would have a party in class or potluck I’d get 4 cups of Pepsi, Plateful of Doritos , Lays and Hot cheetos and my friends and I would whip out our decks. Living the life. At the time the Wii , xbox 360 and itouch were very popular. I didnt have a smart phone til the end of my high school and wasnt until my freshman year in high school that I bought my own prepaid phone and minutes and texting plans. anyways the only console my brother and sister i had was teh game cube so these consoles were treasures whenever I would go over to my friends house after school. there was also this one time in middle school where our homeroom teacher allowed 4 people from our AVID class, and at the time I thought AVID students were the smartest collection of indivuals in our school, to go around campus picking up recyables such as cans and bottles so we could sell and add to our class field trip fundraiser. At first our teacher assigned us only 10 minutes and expected us to comeback. 10 minutes of missing class was amazing. My group of friends and I felt so free, so powerful, passing the doors of other classrooms and students, walking where we shouldnt be. And when we would comeback she would reward us with homemade cookies. HOLY, our teacher was so kind. I cant remember if this was a daily thing, but we did this each time we had class. But every time we would come back deliberatly a little later. From intially 10 minutes we started coming back 15 minutes later, then 20. And I kid you not we started going out “recycling” for the entire class period which was about 50 minutes. IT WAS AMAZING. And we may had been in middle school, but we werent dumb. We were AVID students. Advancement via indpendent determination. We were the futures most brightest, up and coming. So we were thinking if we could somehow find more cans and bottles to fill up our garbage bags itd be more than enough reason to explain why we were coming back later than we were orginally suppose to. So initally we would invite ourselves to other classrooms tell the teacher ‘we’re reclying, dw , were supposed to be here’ and go through their blue bins and take whatever cans and bottles we can add it to our bags. Then we started looking at the larger reclye bins in the shcools court yard and just take all the bottles in their. Realistically it took no more than 5 minutes to fill a garbage bag filled with cans and bottles, but we would spend the rest of our vacation racing each other on our school’s track and kick each other on the school’s monkey bars. Jesus. it was so fun. my life feels pretty defeated right now, so I just wanted to share with
