HERE COMES THE BRIDE

Society weddings are keenly anticipated in Riverdale County. It's a chance for people to dress up and enjoy a spectacle, as well as cementing some of our core values through century-old rituals.

The bride is traditionally "given away" by the father of the bride in a way that reinforces patriarchal principles and helps to negate the modern fantasy of 'women's choice'.

These days, many women marry more than once, and in these cases, the father's role is often adopted by the eldest son.

Tradition states that the "ius prima noctis" (the right of the first night) falls to the groom's father or, in his absence, the groomsmen themselves. That is to say, the bride is deflowered not by her husband, but by another man, or men.

This tradition has died out in conventional marriages, but is echoed by the existence of the bachelorette party, where the bride is encouraged to have sex with other men away from the prying eyes of her fiancé.

We have, in Riverdale, maintained the purity of the original concept.

Cosa stracazzo è successo ai panettoni?

Mi sono girato che c’erano i pandori da una parte e i panettoni dall’altra e se proprio volevi fare il diverso ti compravi il tartufon c’est bon che negli anni ’90 aveva una pubblicità vagamente stereotipata ma a quei tempi ridevamo pure con striscia la berisha quindi chissene.

Ora il panettone è diventato una roba gourmet e ogni pasticceria ti propone un abbinamento diverso tipo panettone al muschio bianco con una spolverata di tofu, panettone alla pasta con le sarde e panettone con frutta secca e isolante per infissi.

Perché?

Qui da noi c’è una famosa pasticceria con scritto “quest’anno salvate i piccoli artigiani, comprate panettoni fatti a mano”. E te li mettono a 50 euro.

Ma porcoddue a 50 euro non mi dai un panettone, a 50 euro mi dai il piccolo artigiano perché se pago 50 euro un panettone non lo mangio. Lo metto in una teca in una stanza con atmosfera controllata, lo saluto al mattino e gli do un bacio la sera. Forse ci vado pure a dormire e gli sprimaccio il cuscino.

Allora intanto come sempre nessuno ti ha chiesto una melanzana intima ma c’è del vero in quel che dici.

Però io questi panettoni li guardo e grondano crema al pistacchio, mi invogliano capisci? Poi chiedo informazioni e sono tutti prenotati.

Le code davanti a questi negozi sono talmente lunghe che quando chiamano un numero nuovo organizzano una conferenza stampa per essere sicuri che sentano tutti.

C’è gente che per pagare il panettone va da Findomestic per un prestito, ci sono persone che mercanteggiano tipo

-Quanto viene questo panettone all’impepata di cozze?

-45 euro giusto perché c’è il black Friday

-Posso dare 30 euro ma vi concedo lo ius primae noctis con mio marito, è un restauratore di mobili antichi, schiena ancora in discrete condizioni e se gli mettete lì il pronto legno pulito vi lucida pure il parquet

-Se ne vada

Che poi il panettone di base era una ricetta povera alla portata di tutti ma oggigiorno sembra che pure i grissini debbano diventare gourmet e anche i pasticceri non sono più pasticceri ma sono chef e si muovono nella loro cucina assemblando esperienze al gusto di panettone. Giuro che questa non è una mia espressione ma l’ho letta a conferma ulteriore che ogni volta che c’è la parola “esperienza” dovremmo scappare a gambe levate rifugiandoci in una grotta aspettando che passi.

Ma alla fine è Natale e queste esperienze panettonifere vanno esaurite già a marzo e c’è una lista d’attesa più lunga che per avere un rene nuovo quindi alla fine hanno ragione loro.

A me comunque il Tartufon c’est bon piaceva un casino.

Lo Ius primae noctis è una straordinaria fantasia che il medioevo ha creato, nata alla fine del medioevo ed a cui hanno creduto così tanto che c'era quasi il rischio che qualcuno volesse metterlo in pratica davvero, anche se non risulta che sia mai successo realmente. In realtà è una fantasia: non è mai esistito.
