Tlaloc/Itlacoliuhqui: While I believe Law is mostly based on the latter I do believe he has some elements of Tlaloc as well. One part of his hidden name is Water and some of his abilities show him wielding electricity in some fashion. Tlaloc and Itlacoliuhqui weren't conflated with each other like Tonatiuh & Huitzilopochtli. While Tlaloc could send frost he was more associated with Quetzalcoatl while Itzlacoluqhui was associated with Tezcatlipoca. Also, Huitzilopochtli/Tlaloc had a different relationship to one another than Tonatiuh/Itzlacoliuhqui.

Huitzilopochtli and Tlaloc were equals and this was shown in one of the most famous Aztec monuments of all time: The Templo Mayor.

The one on the left (south) was dedicated to Huitzilopochtli. It was painted red and white because of the gods association with war. The one on the right (north) was dedicated to Tlaloc. It was painted blue and white because of the gods association with rain and agriculture.

While Huitzilopochtli & Tlaloc were equals Tonatiuh/Itzlacoliuhqui were rivals. In fact it was because of Tonatiuh that Itzlacoliuhqui became the cold deity he is known as. Originally he was Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli, Lord of the Dawn and the Morning Star Venus. However, that would all change after Tonatiuh became the 5th Sun.

Tonatiuh demanded blood and sacrifice to move. This enraged the Lord of the Dawn and he shot a dart at Tonatiuh. It missed and Tonatiuh fired back hitting him right in the head. Some incarnations of the story state he was sent to the Underworld where he was transformed into Itzlacoliuhqui, god of obsidian and coldness.

Tecpatecuhtli is here revealed as Itzlacoliuhqui, Our Lord of the Curved Obsidian Blade, who is the Lord of Winter, of Stone, Cold, Frost, and Judgement. He is enthroned on an icpalli, a throne, of volcanic stone, which is carved with glyphs of bone and of wisdom. He is blindfolded, for to dispense justice, he must preside in judgement, and justice is blind. He wears the moon as a nose-ring, for he has the insightful nature of night and the moon. He is dressed entirely in white, a color of cold and death, and holds a flint knife in his hand, with which he dispenses justice, sacrifice, and death. His body is covered with unspun white cotton. Unspun cotton is a symbol of Tlazolli. All things are either ordered or un-ordered. The un-ordered is Tlazolli. Unspun cotton, as it comes from nature, is no more than a tangle of threads, useless to anyone. Yet, in the hands of the spinner and the weaver, it is spun into thread and woven into cloth, thus covering our nakedness and giving us warmth in the cold. Tlazolli is the state of un-orderedness, which can be physical as well as spiritual. Raw cotton is un-ordered in a physical sense, but the souls can be un-ordered in a spiritual sense, and exist in a state of Tlazolli. The unexamined heart is inclined to vindictiveness, envy, greed, and sloth, all of which inspire actions which are condemned by the family, the community, and the state, bringing the justice of Itzlacoliuhqui down upon us. He wears over his penis a paper cone wrapped in a paper rosette. This is an adornment of the Lords of Death, worn by them on their headdresses. Here, its placement suggests death as well as life and fertility, rebirth as a result of judgement and penance. His headdress is a bent blade, lined with thorns, and is a visual pun which symbolizes his name, The Curved Obsidian Blade. It is pierced with an arrow. In sacred narrative, the sun rose to the zenith at the first sun-rise, but once there announced that he had no strength to move, and required the sacrifice of all of the Teteo, for only in the sacred power of their blood and heart, their Teyollia, could he find the strength to move. Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli, Dawn Lord, who is the lord of Venus as the morning star, was greatly angered, and he tried to shoot the sun out of the sky. But his arrows could not reach the sun; Tonatiuh the sun shot him back with an arrow of his own, and when it struck him, he was transformed into Itzlacoliuhqui. Therefore, the night is always coldest just before the dawn, in the hours when the Dawn Lord, the Morning Star, rises into the sky. He rules over a beautiful city, whose order and might are the result of his just rulership, just as the order and success of the individual are owed to those who seek always to live lives of in accordance with the Middle Path. Itzlacoliuhqui punishes the wicked, but also rewards the deserving.

If Luffy is the amalgamation of Tonatiuh/Huitzilopochtli then I believe Law as his rival is the amalgamation of Itzlacoliuhqui/Tlaloc. I’ve been away for awhile, but I’m back on my bullshit. Believe it or not there is an Aztec god of ice. Itzlacoliuhqui is the god (teotl) of ice, winter, justice, sin, punishment, human misery, obsidian, the North, death.

Frost, Ice, Cold, Winter: Something I noticed about Law is just how much of connection he has with the cold. His entire demeanor is the complete opposite of Luffy and I believe that is for good reason. Luffy is warm, jovial, friendly, etc. He sails on a ship called the Thousand Sunny which launches in the sky via Coup de Burst. Law’s personality is cold, calculating, and distant. He rides in a submarine instead of a ship which takes him into the depths of the ocean away from the Sun. 

In fact his connection to the ice/snow goes as far back as his early days of Flevance. It was originally known as the White City because the Amber Lead accumulation and people said it looked like a snowy country out of a fairy tale. He even acquires his DF abilities on an island with a snowy climate and strangely at night. Also, just look at his crew they’re all associated with the cold in some way the most noticeable is his navigator Bepo, a polar bear.

Human Misery & Punishment: Law has one of the saddest backstories in the One Piece world. He lost everyone and everything he loved. Being met with so much tragedy at a young age turned him into a nihilistic individual and he wanted to punish everything for the misery he had to endure. That would change once he was befriended by the kindly Corazon. However, he would encounter tragedy again with Corazon’s death.

The North: This one is pretty self-explanatory. Law was born in the North Blue. Itzlacoliuhqui was connected to the North because of his association with the cold. While he was his own god, Itzlacoliuhqui was also an aspect or disguise of Tezcatlipoca whose primary direction was the North and was also closely associated with the cold. His primary colors were Black & Yellow with the former being his most associated color.

Obsidian: Itzlacoliuhqui was strongly associated with obsidian. In fact one of the translations of his name means “Curved Obsidian”. Other researches object and believe it translates to “Plant-Killer Frost” Obsidian was used all over Mesoamerica for very pretty much everything. It was especially used for surgery and for extracting hearts for sacrifice. The Aztecs were known for their advancements in health practices so much it astounded the Spaniards. Though it is brittle obsidian is much sharper than even surgical steel. 

Law has wanted to become a doctor specifically a surgeon even while a child. His epithet is the “Surgeon of Death” and his DF allows him to cut through pretty much everyone or everything with ease. Almost as if cut by obsidian. I’d also like to point out I believe the whole thing with swords turning black in the OP world has to be connected to real-life obsidian. 

Justice: Itzlacoliuhqui represented blind justice as can be seen with the blindfold covering his eyes. Law has a subtle, but strong association with justice. His adoptive father was a Marine commander and his adoptive grandfather was the former Marine Fleet admiral. There’s also the theory he might be a secret member of SWORD which sounds very plausible. It’s also quite interesting his name is Law and his zodiac sign is Libra the Scales of Justice.

Death: Itzlacoliuhqui was connected to death because he acted as the cleaner for new life to emerge. This is the reason he holds a straw broom in his hand because using the broom was to sweep clean away everything including sins. In fact there was even a festival dedicated to sweeping clean everything called the Ochpaniztli which was dedicated to Itzlacoliuhqui.

The Moon: Itzlacoliuhqui was also a lunar deity. Pretty much any deity with a nose ring was associated with the moon in some fashion. The nose ring was crescent shaped like the moon.

Stardust: wisdom, mind realm, magic and heaven, child of the wisedom, the magic or the celestial gods (Cipactonal, Asteria, Nut), their symbol are Athena’s owl and the pleiades, their colors are blue and silver.

Stage: Nature, seasons and water, child of the sea, the nature or the seasons (for example Itzlacoliuhqui even tough he is in the deadly category or Demeter), their symbol is a mocking bird and their colors are orange and green.

Deadly: Death, sorrow and shadows, childs of misfortune, death and darkness (Mictlantecuhtli, Hades, Anubis), their symbol is the skull of a dog and their colors are black and red

Wild: Tricks, war and pranks, child of war, the trickery and the messangery (Hermes, Ares, Huehuecoyotl), their symbol is a fox and their colors are light blue and white.

Gold: victory, justice and inventions, childs of the forge, the justice, of the victory (Volundr, Zeus, Nike), their symbol is an eagle and their colors are golden and bronze.

Feelers: love, beauty and medicine, childs of the love and the caressing (Apollo, Xochipilli, Ilitia) their symbol is a swan and their colors are pink and turquiose.

The factions:

Savages: tiny criminals who used their parent’s power by accident and commited a crime or are childs of the mafia and criminal groups.

Erudites: normal citizens related to the world fo magic.
