Happy independence day Finland! Hyvää itsenäisyyspäivää Suomi! 6th of December is celebrated as the independence day in Finland. Finland declared independence from the Russian Empire in 1917 and has been an independent nation state since then. Each year there are various celebrations on this day, most famous one being the annual Independence Day Reception by the President (linnan juhlat or itsenäisyyspäivän vastaanotto); the whole country watches that reception on tv. This year, however, all celebrations are done remotely because of the pandemic so people won't be talking about the dresses worn by the participants tomorrow :)))) . . . . . .
