4. a set that flopped but deserved better

borrowing from a previous answer: I struggled like crazy making this VegasPete request set- it was one of the only times I was not having a good time GIFFing at all & it just didn't do that well. fun fact: it's kinda-sorta meant to be a pair with this Pete-centric set. c'est la vie.

9. what/who inspired you to start making gifs?

ITSAY! everything with me leads back to BKPP/the ITSAYverse 😌

I hadn't been on Tumblr for years & I didn’t create content back then, but ITSAY left me so obliterated (affectionate) that I had to make something for it, starting with a terrible little Fire on Fire lyric set. I (hopefully) redeemed myself on my blogoversary by redoing it 🤪

11. what is that one set you made that just won’t die?

this Lil Nas X post will haunt me 'till the day I die, but there are worse things. I linked to an RB with commentary that was excellent. I also made a stupid one-sentence IWTV post recently when I was still bleary-eyed pre-coffee that's closing in on 5K notes. that's not an insane amount or anything, but dear lord WHY.

14. how long does it usually take you to make a set?

when I'm hustling & have existing coloring I can drag & drop? 20-30 minutes. when it's artistic or detailed, hours on end. I like near-instant gratification though (thanks, ADHD), so I can rarely stand spending more than 4-5 days tops on even the most complicated set.

46. ever gotten a really sweet compliment over a set?

so many! I feel lucky that the feedback I get is consistently so sweet, so positive & it really encourages me to keep creating (I looove me some words of affirmation). I have a folder in my phone with screenshots of my favorite tags for serotonin purposes & I'm not ashamed to say it 😌

1. your all time favorite bl and why: the ITSAYverse- ITSAY, LTIP & IPYTM (everyone act shocked). This story put my heart, throat and soul in a vice grip from the first viewing and hasn't let me go since. I'm feeling saucy today, so here's a hot take: if I had to choose one (which is impossible), it'd be IPYTM.

Hear that? It's the cacophony of anons raging in my inbox already...

2. that one bl that scarred you for life: the mere mention of Theory of Love makes my blood pressure spike to this day, and absolutely everything in FUTS aside from my chaos sons made me want to throw something. Anything. EVERYTHING.

3. bl that made you feel very single: UWMA/DeanPharm. They're so soft, so healthy and OhmFluke's insane talent combined with their IRL deep friendship/love for each other resulted in a kind of magic that constantly made me feel like I was intruding on their moment.

4. if you could change one thing from a bl, which one would it be? apparently we're not done with don't-come-for-me time: the ending of Bad Buddy. You can find my reasoning/me crying about it here.

6. that trashy bl that you lowkey like: 2Moons2 is the lowest-stakes, tropiest little drama and the production/company behind it are beyond cursed, but I adore it. EDIT: @flukenatouch reminded me via her post about the currently-airing hot mess express that is Rainbow Prince (it’s so bad, it’s good). Also, TharnType is 500 kinds of problematic but MewGulf's chemistry could melt paint off walls, so.

7. your favorite korean bl (it’s important we know): Light on Me Light on Me LIGHT ON MEEEE. I might like it *just* a little. Like a smidge.

8. but also your top 3 for kbls: besides LOM, the only other K-BL's I'm a big fan of are To My Star and A First Love Story (a two-part short that might get made into a movie, last I heard).

Not mentioning the popular ones I'm decidedly not a fan of because I've had my neck out this whole post already- I (mostly) like being alive and would like to stay that way.

9. season 2? which one? once again, I scream: Light on Me Light on Me LIGHT ON MEEEE.

🧸 friends to lovers or enemies to lovers?

I can't have both?! *makes sad grabby hands* They're equally great story devices, so which one I'm into depends on my mood.

There's a tenderness and deeper intimacy in friends to lovers stories that's hard to replicate- I mean, are we seeing this kiss (SkyPaper, Second Chance)? When I'm in the mood to swoon, friends to lovers is my go-to.

It's also hard to match that certain sexy spark in enemies to lovers stories, and the 'oh' moment when all that passionate disdain turns into something else entirely, ala Fighter and Tutor (Why R U?)...is it hot in here? Just me? (GIFs are from my DSN parallel post that was yeeted out of the tags right after posting ✌)

Moral of the story: I just want it ALL, OK?

🎇 favorite ending

For me, IPYTM had a pitch-perfect ending: it aligned not only with the story and our leads' personal growth, but it felt incredibly realistic. The conversation Oh-aew and Teh had about choosing to keep going through life together rather than promising forever was extremely mature, and rang true for actual adult relationships.

Like everything else in the ITSAYverse, it was a bittersweet ending because of everything they had to endure to get to that finish line- but once they made it, it was brilliant.

🏳️‍🌈 something you wish wasn’t so common in BLs

I'm going to pivot from things that truly irk me- like un-informed recording and faen fatales- to a minor, silly one I'm tired of: wound tending.

I get that it's a kind of 'forced' physical intimacy that helps speed the story along, but it just does nothing for me. When I've banged my head on something, the last thing I'm hoping for is my partner to come put a Band-Aid on it so we can have a moment.

Now if they want to bring me steak tacos and compliments to soothe my bruised ego? That's romance.

Honestly, I feel fine. Was episode 4 heart-wrecking to watch? Sure. Was it also extremely satisfying, cathartic and still had me feeling for both Oh and Teh (despite his SERIOUS issues)? Absolutely. It needed to happen, it's happened- the only thing I'm bitter about is the death of the legendary red hair. You just went through an epically tragic breakup, my son- this is not the moment to turn the extra down.

I also just related to this episode more than any episode in the ITSAYverse: the second guessing yourself, making excuses for your partner, ignoring your gut until it all comes to a head- and in a bar of all places? If that's not realistic, I don't know what is.

If only we could be blessed with witnessing Oh's hot girl summer in action- I'm not holding my breath, but in my heart, it's already canon. 🙏🔥

My only bone to pick with The Yearbook: the score is played excessively loud at all times.

A score can add so much to a story it can practically become its own character (hello, ITSAYverse), but it loses impact when it’s constantly being blasted at you. I’ve played back some particularly emotional scenes with the volume lowered or muted, and it instantly gave those moments more emotional weight.

Silence can be an incredibly effective dramatic tool- use it.
