I don’t have many feelings towards him though as a character, there’s a thing with tone in 3 that I’ll talk about more with reaver that influences this I think, and just in general he sort of exists separately to everyone for most of the game, like he’s the player characters brother you should feel Something but there’s just no like. anything to their interactions. what’s his relationship like with theresa, with walter, with like Anyone, he just monologues at a map!!! do something talk to someone half a character is their interactions!!!! fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so like, I think, fable likes to be funny, the feel it generally goes for is fun and it’s a fantasy game yknow? characters like jack of blades and lady grey (and the crawler kiiiind of? a bit) are obviously bad but because of either the way the game treats them or the way the game feels or the things they do theyre fun villains who I like! reaver in 2 falls into this I think, yes pirates are real but, like knights and stuff there’s. I can’t think how to word it, there’s a difference between historical knights and fantasy knights and reaver is a fantasy pirate, the shadow court stuff is obviously bad but that’s also not real? the tone of 2 is more serious than 1 and I haven’t replayed it in a while so I’d have to play it to know how it lands Exactly. but reaver in 3 hits too real with actual things and lady grey is also evil rich person but the tone of the game carries that where 3 is serious about it and it’s effects that’s like the whole point and you can have a character and a game that does that but you can’t have that character Also be the fun villain because then it confuses things, that’s Also not to say the fun villain can’t be interesting or like metaphors or whatever obviously it’s just The Feel of the thing, fable 3 can have its evil factory guy but reaver isn’t the character for that for so many reasons. On the Beefaroni-And-Cheese Situation

Hi there, yeah, I know.  All of a sudden people be crawling out of the woodwork about Beef, the fuck is up with that?

Well, it’s because their actions have affected multiple people, myself included.  And even though we’ve managed to not bring this directly up for... Oh, at least 6 months now, the dam’s broke.

It’s time to talk about what’s been happening.

Now, fair warning, this is All from my perspective, I do not have any screenshots, and I will be obscuring the names of everyone involved except Beef and I.  You are allowed to take my own view and bias into perspective when reading this, but I’m not the only one who’s making notes about this.

It started, for me, at least, back in February.  There was a small discord server that I was part of, as well as multiple other people, including Beef.  Beef and their then-partner, now ex were both mods of the server besides Mod 1, despite both of them being 13 at the time.

It was around this time that the Lego Movie 2 came out, and, as I will refer to them, Friend 1 and Friend 2 started making jokes about a character called Rex Dangervest being basically the Onceler.  I still understand very little of the context for that joke, nor do I care to find out.  Don’t fucking try to inform me, you two.

Friend 1 changed their PFP to a drawing of Rex as the Onceler.  And Beef got pissy.  From what I understand, there had already been a similar spat in January about another PFP that was really funny (Sansler)... or maybe that came later?

It was half a year ago, cut me some slack.

From my understanding of things, they verbally harassed Friend 1 and told the other mods of the server that Friend 1 was being rude, when they were just Living Their Life.  A day after Friend 1 conceded, Beef talked in main about how they felt guilt.  I tried to do good life advice, but was clearly shrugged off.

And then, because I was uninformed of what Beef had done exactly, I was filled in by Friend 1 and Friend 2 via Voice Chat.  That was Not Pleasant to hear about, but I’ll admit my memory’s still foggy and I don’t remember what I heard about there.

Flash-forward some time, Friend 2 had been, despite starting up a Very Cool project related to Club Penguin, losing interest rapidly because Beef was constantly yelling at Friend 1 and Friend 2 to not do over-all harmless things.  They also got an entire VC created for them because... I really don’t know.

Friend 2 made a few pleas to Mod 1 to kick Beef already, but Mod 1 is a very... passive person, too forgiving for their own good.  Friend 2 got tired.  On March 12 this year, they got Friend 1 and I into their server and started talking about going out with a bang.  Namely, a server raid to fuck Beef’s shit up.

Sadly, it did not happen.  My friends left the server soon after, and I only stuck around long enough to see Beef get kicked from the mod position, leave the server, and then see the Discord move to another place entirely.

Now, it seems like the tale should have ended there.  It would’ve been nice if it ended there.

Flash forward to May.  By this time, Friend 1 has joined Server 2, and was enjoying it.  The Logan Drama also happened, but that was quickly dealt with.

No, the real bullshit started because Beef was allowed back into Server 2.  Everyone thought that they’d changed, maybe.  They wanted to give Beef a second chance.

Beef did not use that second chance in any good capacity.  They started by complaining about not being able to use the Blacklisted and NSFW channels even though they claimed multiple times that the stuff there triggered them.  They also continued to claim that NSFW triggered them despite drawing it multiple times.

Eventually, a group of people (myself included) decided to join Server 2 to slowly call out Beef entirely.  That did not pan out the way we hoped.

I stayed on Server 2 for about a month, enough time for me to be privy to a rather Bad exchange where Beef claimed that their NSFW trigger was why they were asexual.  Now, it MAY have been meant as a joke.  

But I doubted it.  It was also just... a bad joke.  Especially for someone who currently identifies as asexual lesbian.

After I, in particular, told them that saying that was Wrong and Bad with some back-up from Friend 1, Beef then apologized to Friend 1.  

Beef just had some weird Thing about Friend 1.  I believe that Luci’s posts go into it, but like... Yeah.  It was a Thing.

Anyways, a little while back, Beef got vaguey and started complaining in Vent that no-one liked them.  Even though they were (and likely still ARE) friends with some of the biggest names in the fucking fandom.  I just kind of... snapped.  I told them that I didn’t like them, and had no reasons to like them.  Soon after that, I got tired of the typical Beef bullshit, blocked Beef, and left Server 2.

This shit has still been ongoing though, a few weeks ago a group of people began to mobilize some group chats together for Callout posts against Beef.  And thus leads to Luci’s post today, and my post right now.

Anyways, to summarize:  Beef has not been kind to my friends.  I hold no empathy in my heart for them.  Please, if you’re a friend to them, I understand your urge to defend them, but look at what we’re saying.  Maybe look into the other pockets of the fandom, learn more about them.  We all have stories about the current events, even small ones.  You might learn things you need to.

I was tagged by @ask-oncelers-race-car-bed and I really should be doing something useful like buying paper towels but given I’m not ready to leave the house yet, I feel like this is a good thing to get done first. Let’s get to it: 

5 Things You’ll Find in My Bag: 

1. Two full decks of Magic: The Gathering Cards and a few extras just sort of floating around. One is on loan from an acquaintance, and one I created at a chaos draft that I participated in yesterday. I’m really new to Magic, technically I learned to play a few years ago, but these last few months have been the first period of time where I was really exposed to passionate players and got the chance to play fairly regularly and attempt to better myself. 

2. The keys and padlock to a bike lock set. The length of cord that is the actual bike lock is not in my bag at the moment, but I keep the smaller pieces in my bag so that I don’t lose them. I ride my bike everywhere because I don’t have a car yet. It’s inconvenient and awful and this weekend I’ll probably have a gofundme up to help out with that, because I am struggling to live my life in a town where public transportation does not exist. On the flip side, I am getting a ton of exercise and maintaining a body that I am very happy with so that’s good. 

3. My comb and makeup bag. I met a really important person yesterday who could potentially be a part of my life for....forever, really, going forward, if all goes according to plan, and I wanted to look nice, so I brought my primping stuff to class with me so that I could prepare before my club meeting. Hopefully I wasn’t intimidating, that really wasn’t the goal but I worry about it. 

4. Deodorant. I ride a bike to my campus. Which is 5 miles away. Enough said about that. 

5. As of right now I actually have several indecent things in my bag. They’re just rather handy to have. It’s like a Giant Limestone Cube, yeah? Because you never know!

1. There’s a cat. There’s another one around here somewhere but I can’t see him from where I’m sitting. There is at least one cat in my room right now thought. 

2. A queen sized bed. It makes me feel like a movie star when I wake up in the mornings. 

3. Several pieces of Labyrinth themed art, including an authentic movie poster from back in the day. I love them all very much, I need more art. My bedroom walls are still rather bare. 

4. Clothing, everywhere. On the floor, on hangers, in my chest of drawers when I manage to get it there, on hooks on my door. I’m not a tidy person and it makes me flip out and go into a whirlwind of activity whenever someone threatens to come over. I want to be a tidy person I just don’t really have time. 

5. A plush ferret. This is a substitution of the real thing, a very sweet very bad girl who still lives with my parents up North.

5 Things That Make Me Happy: 

1.Completing a game to 100%. I’m a completionist but I set strict rules for myself for each game so that I don’t let myself go insane and never have fun again and pour 50 hours into doing something that I hate. If its doable, I go for it, and when I do it, I love it. 

2. Writing for myself. Don’t get me wrong, I love writing for D&D, for the various other RPGs I’ve been involved in, and even for assignments, but nothing makes me happier than developing a plot idea myself, with no outside incentive, and then refining and writing that idea and seeing where it takes me. I hope to do more of it in the future. 

3. Spending time with my partner. (And my friends but that’s a given.) With my partner its special, because I live near them now. I spent 5 years not even really with them, and 400 miles away as well. And now I live here. I get to see them four days or more out of the week. It’s fucking incredible. It could be better, there are things to improve on, but I never thought I’d get here, and here I am. 

4. Playing D&D. I can write D&D, sure, but I love playing D&D. I fucked up my last DMs story but he rolled with it and we all had so much fun. I mean D&D also may have permanently burned one of my bridges (working on unburning it) but I still love it. I love it. 

5. College. I’m in college! I hated high school. College is fun. I feel in control of myself for the first time in a very long time. Its a good feeling. 

5 Things I’m (Currently) Into: 

1. The Witcher. Not Wild Hunt, just, The Witcher. I haven’t played Wild Hunt but I can’t wait to because I’m very gay for Yennefer. I played the first one to full completion, it took 60 hours and was a janky time and I loved every minute of it. I’m on the second one now. It feels a little different and I definitely don’t like it as much but I’m going through it. It just opened up and feels like a real game so maybe now I can like it more. 

2. Critical Role. I watch so slowly and the story of Vox Machina has already ended and hhhhhhhhhhh. However, I’m going to keep watching and catching up, and when the new story starts up I’m going to watch that as it goes while I simultaneously watch Vox Machina because I think if I got any more behind I’d go insane. 

3. Dr. Pepper. I had a Dr. Pepper on Monday and it was the best fucking thing I’ve ever drunk. I’ve had Dr. Pepper before but never have I loved it so goddamn much. I want more. I need to buy more Dr. Pepper. Dr. Pepper in bulk. 

4. Kingdom Hearts. I’m also working on playing through the full Kingdom Hearts series for the first time ever. I’ve played them before, but when I played them I was young and really really bad at games of all kinds. I am no longer bad at games of all kinds, and am doing really well. It hasn’t gotten stupidly complicated yet but I’m ready. 

5. Analytical Youtubers. Last year when my anxiety problems were at a height I couldn’t do anything without something going on in the background, so I found a whole bunch of analytical youtubers that talk about games, philosophy, movies, math, writing, anything, and played them whenever I needed to accomplish a task. Now I play them because I love them. I love thinking about mechanics and cinematography and I love analyzing trends and seeing other people doing it too. 

5 Things People May Not Know About Me: 

1. I started as a strict poetry blog. Now I call my blog the ambiguous ‘journal’ because it has what I need and what I like and what tickles my fancy. It’s got cute animals and a ton of art and a very existentialist thread of humor running through it. I don’t think it will be a poetry blog again. Maybe occasionally. 

2. I read massive amounts of fanfiction from all sorts of fandoms, and have for the last four years, and can’t see myself stopping anytime soon. I’m really not public with anyone about that part of my life but it exists, and it makes me happy. 

3. I hate the cold. Anything under 75 F is too cold, and it makes me actively miserable. I endured 18 years of temperate zone living, and now that I’m braving the confederacy its notably better than it was. I still wear a big hoodie with every outfit though, it gives me a really informal look to go with my elegant every day wear. 

4. I expect my body to last until I am at least 93. Harriet Tubman died at 93, and as one of my lifelong heroes, she has set the par for respectable age. My family has some damn good genes so I think its doable. 

5. I am an artist. I’m not a professional artist, but sometimes, I make art. It is rather good art for the most part. I may post some, sometime. It isn’t digital though, I have no idea how to do that.

ok so ive done some personal comparisons, as well as watched a few takes on them, and there are a few steps to a tumblr sexyman. i will be using 2 of the most well known sexymen on the site, onceler, and sans.

an appealing design and personality: the design caaaan be considered sexy, but it is what the fandom makes of the design that defines it as sexy. what it really is is an appealing design people can latch onto and enjoy. for example, the oncelers over-the-top villain design, combined with the 2012 alt-soft-boy design made for something someone enjoyed. with sans, people enjoyed his easy to interpret funny skeleton design, and the intenseness (at least at the time) of his genocide route. it was appealing, it made people look and want more! there was also good writing. lets go back to the original lorax. it was a short book with a roughly 20 minute read time if read as it should be. it was also released with a 25 minute feature film. so when the movie was remade, they needed a way to extend the story, make it interesting! so they padded it with the kid and the girl he simped for, yes, but they also fleshed out the story of how the world was fucked over by some guy. they made him sympathetic. he wasnt corrupted by his greed from the start, he was pressured into the path he went down by his family! it was of course their faults, and he helped bring life back to the world! making this character sympathetic, gave people waaaay more of an attraction to him. with sans, they didnt only make him some funny skeleton, but with the genocide route, they fleshed him out as this self-aware being who wants to stop the player. they gave the audience a driving force to love him. now onto part 2,

shiiiiit ton of aus: both of these characters had this in common, they had alot of aus. if you asked someone who was into undertale or the lorax fandom when the events were fresh (summer of 2012 for one, 2015-2016 for the other) they could easily list many aus off the top of their head. now theres a reason this was so intense with these two, and that is because of the lack of canon flexibility. theres a reason it was somewhat lighter with sans then it was the onceler. since in the lorax, people lacked the ability to ship him with another character (there was a small amount of people shipping old lorax with the granny but that didnt last) so they begun to think of other ways this character could be, well, the character! this was also heavily intertwined with the amount of ask blogs, easily hundreds being archived and hundreds more not seeing the light of day. it was similar with undertale. well, kinda? undertale is a bit more of an interesting case, it still had the features of hundreds of fan related projects being similar, but it was also dedication to the character itself. thats why the pool for sans is a bit more watered down with less [insert that one image...you know the one] and more content like sans being shipped with the funny goat lady. but that brings me to a more gruesome point

the nasty: continuing from my point of the onceler, people begun wanting to experiment with relationships with this easily fan favorite character. so since there wasnt any other character to ship with* [they didnt want to anyway,] they begun shipping the onceler with the now infamous greedler, and many other versions. this is because of the dramatic character differences in aus, and even between the onceler and the onceler post hbcib[how bad can i be] [for convenience ill refer to as the greedler] people started doing this, and it spread like wildfire, giving people the chance to roleplay their favorite character interacting romantically, and also it was honestly some people being fucking nasty and horny. its the same with sans, with such dramatic differences in characterizations [i.e. underfell, underswap, error, etc] people begun to wonder how they would interact, platonically then romantically. it was that similar type of horny nasty ass person that begun to popularize sancest [idk what to call it entirely] and font cest [au versions of the 2 brothers shipped, which is honestly its own can of worms for another day] 

in conclusion, a sexyman is what id consider escapism through characters gone horribly wrong. its fun and games to enjoy a character, make aus, whatever, thats cool! it begins to go down hill when nsfw, but it truly hits the concerning title of tumblr sexyman when the character becomes a selfcestual pit of being shipped with themself in different ways.

now, do i think that saying [insert popular character] is a sexyman? no, i think that yes, that character might have a cult following, or yes, people might enjoy making aus of that character, but say a character is a tumblr sexyman when you begin to only know that character for the disgusting and quite frankly shocking uncomfortable self shipping and grotesque content following that

here’s the oncest origin story from the mouth of the person who created it.

the day i created oncest i had just gotten home from school. i was in 8th grade at the time, so i was 13. i got home and did what i did almost every day, which was get on tumblr for a while before doing my homework if i had any. but this week was Different.

the lorax had just come out and i had heard that apparently the onceler was Real Hot. like a major hottie. and i was like :O!!! well i gotta watch it then! so i watched a shitty bootleg movie theater recording of it and talked about it in a deviantart chatroom. i had looked in the The Lorax tag on tumblr and found a few others who felt the exact same way! however this was a very small group– only about six or seven people. it was veeery early on in the fandom, and most of us knew each other by name. one of them had the idea to create a tinychat room for people who were fans of the onceler, and i was like. hey i could participate!!

when i became a part of the group, i immediately clicked with the other people and we were really comfortable around each other. after about the third or fourth day chatting with them, we started talking about who to ship with the onceler. we didnt really want him to make out with fuzzy orange danny devito, and all the other characters are kind of Bad so we were at a standstill. we had no idea who to ship him with. and then i Really Messed Up. i didn’t wanna take that sitting down. i didn’t wanna believe that he was unshippable. so thirteen year old jess laughs and types out “hey, wouldn’t it be funny if we shipped the onceler with himself?? like self cest?? i mean, he gets really self absorbed in the movie!!” and everyone was like heyyyy Yeah that’s a Good Idea!

and THEN to make it worse i was like “OMG WE COULD CALL IT ONCEST” because i thought i was so damn clever. and people thought the name was HILARIOUS.

then the others started making tumblr posts about it (which i can’t find due to many url changes over the last 5 YEARS, but if u go far back enough into my blog u can find my putrid sins. i recommend not doing that tho) and in that tinychat we had many great times talking about the dynamics of oncest and the differences between greed-ler and oncie and that was around the time people started making ask blogs. at the time they were simple, like just regular onceler and some slightly different AUs of him. i was so happy that people really liked my idea!! people much older than me joined our group, and they started making some really gorgeous art and writing. but after that things got a lot more intense.

the fandom had picked up a lot more steam and people, and i got lost in the mix because i was 1. really young, no one wanted to deal w a kid my age in that fandom and 2. my art was Awful. i really liked the intimacy that the small group had, and having so many people and so many different oncelers was REALLY overwhelming to me, and i had a really bad experience with someone who wanted to date my onceler ask blog but i was 13 and she was 23 and it was a really weird and bad and toxic situation. but that’s a whole different story that i can tell another time.

i left the fandom some time around when this thing called “camp weehawken” started?? i think that’s what it was called. basically it was an au where all the onceler ask blogs were kids at a summer camp. it was Weird. i left because not only had i lost interest, but it wasn’t what i had wanted to be a part of anymore. it was all abt the ask blogs and not the original character, and the ask blogs were essentially entirely different characters w the onceler’s face slapped on him. it wasn’t fun anymore, especially once i was spooked by the person who wanted to date my ask blog. after a couple years i was like “what have i done” and even now im STILL like “what have i done”

i just think its really funny now?? bc of course a fucking 13yo would come up w shipping the onceler w himself. it’s not a good idea.
