Contrapasso

when those with power are reduced to kneeling, begging at their feet when the exiled stumbles blindly where the unwelcome may greet when a lord is forced to bow low and a beast by horns is chained when a god is but a captive and a trophy to be gained when the loyal trusted guard dog’s put in muzzles, teeth in lock and the silver-tonguéd thief falls silent with all horror’s shock then reversed in roles and fate antagonisms reunite it’s the sudden plunging terror knowing there’s nowhere to hide

when a powerful figure is reduced to kneeling. when the lord is forced to bow. when the exile stumbles into an unwelcoming bar. when the “beast” is chained by their horns. when a god is dragged behind their enemy’s chariot, a captive and trophy. when the loyal “guard dog” character is muzzled and the silver-tongued thief falls silent in horror.

that’s the shit

it’s about the contrapasso. the reversal of roles and the sudden, plunging terror of being unable to hide.
