The dichotomy of how I treat my Desktop vs Laptop is truly the encapsulation of the favorite vs unfavorite.

If they were human children, the left would be my desktop and the right my laptop. I turn my desktop off every night and only give it a dozen tabs to run and I close them when I'm done.

Meanwhile, I made my laptop train a neural network for 100 hours straight in a random corner of my house.

There's a reason why I haven't used my laptop in a while.

#dont ask me about my digital art habits #you dont want to know the exception #its okay now my desktop has 48GB of RAM #i know this peak... privilege having both a desktop and laptop ~~and steam deck~~#things most people do not have #but.#my laptop was a gift from my parents for university. my brother gave me his old PC when he got a new one #and ive been upgrading that one ever since a la ship of theseus #the mobo + ram + gpu + cpu + ssd are all new #the keyboard + mouse + hdd + cd rom drive + tower + fans + monitors are all original #that shit is 10 years old now at least #i probably should have kept the water cooler but i wasnt brave enough #i'll also admit that the fact that I know people who will just straight up give me this stuff in the first place is also upper-middle class #100%#but regardless #honestly after i inherited my brother's old pc i only upgraded it in 2020 before the shortage #and i had a budget of $500 (basically instead of buying a ps5 i got that)#and it was a decent enough mid tier system all the way through the present #i had to upgrade the psu this past summer because it was both old and the company that made it wrnt under
