HR (Stan x fem!Reader)
Summary: you decide to give your boss a little scare
Warnings: playful flirting, nothing overtly sexual
"Did you see what Stan was wearing yesterday? That open collar..."
"Ew! He's like my grandpa. Why would you even say that?" Wendy made a fake gagging sound. You enjoyed having her as a coworker, despite sometimes forgetting she was nearly ten years younger than you.
You'd started working at the Mystery Shack in the spring, while Wendy was still in school, and when summer began, you were grateful to finally have someone to talk to when things were slow in the giftshop. Her and Dipper even invited you onto the roof occasionally. It was nice to have someone to confide in about your crush, too, even if she pretended it was super gross.
"Why don't you ask him out already? He'll say yes, I mean he stares at you constantly." She was right - the world's darkest pair of sunglasses couldn't hide Stan's obvious gaze over your figure as you stocked the shelves every day. Not to mention calling you "doll" any chance he got. But until now, you'd pretended to be blissfully unaware, biding your time patietly.
"Oh, I will," you assurred Wendy, "but I'm gonna give him hell first. I got a plan, just wait."
---
"Yeah, and when you're done with that, there's a leak in the roof you can look at." Stan's gruff voice rang out through the gift shop as he and Soos entered.
"On it, boss," Soos saluted Stan before approaching the checkout desk, "What's up dudes?"
"Hey Soos," you pretended not to notice Stan behind him, "do you know who's in charge of HR here? Is it you?" You felt a little bad roping the ever-innocent Soos into your mischief, but the suddenly panicked look on Stan's face was worth it.
Soos began to repond, "Gee, I guess I've been here the longest, so--"
Stan cut him off, nudging Soos to the side and placing his palms on the counter. He leaned close and said, "You're lookin' at HR." He squinted his eyes suspiciously, "Why d'ya ask?"
"Oh its nothing, just" you put on your best poker face and shrugged, "maybe I need to report some inappropriate behavior."
Wendy hid her face in her comic book to stop herself from laughing, but poor Soos looked very concerned. You prayed Wendy had the heart to explain the ruse to him once you and Stan were out of the room. At your words, Stan just sighed and gestered toward his office.
Once inside, he removed his fez, sat on the edge of the desk, and rubbed the bridge of his nose under his glasses, "Look, doll, I'll be straight with you. You do good work, but Wendy 'n Soos have been here a whole lot longer and I have a hard time believing either of them would--"
"My issue isn't with them." You crossed your arms and he raised an eyebrow at you as you continued, "I should slap you, the way you gawk at me all day. And all those pet names? You must think I'm stupid."
Stan didn't look as shocked as you'd hoped. Instead he chuckled with the corner of his mouth and got to his feet.
"Wouldn't be the first time." He said. His arms hung at his sides. He closed his eyes and turned his head. His shoulders and neck tensed and he braced for the impact.
Suddenly your palms were sweaty, you hadn't expected this. Was he actually going to let you slap him?
After a moment, he partially opened one eye, "Well, get it over with already."
"Mr. Pines... I'm not gonna slap you."
His body relaxed and he shrugged, "I 'preciate that, but I'm pretty sure I deserve it this time."
You smirked at him, "I won't slap you, but only because I'm afraid you'd like it."
Stan chuckled a bit, but you could tell you'd flustered him. He rubbed the back of his neck and looked at the floor.
"Look doll--" he coughed, catching himself, "look, I'm sorry if I made ya uncomfortable, I promise I'll stop. But, if you could just keep this between us..."
"An apology isn't good enough. I'd hate to see your good reputation ruined, Mr. Pines."
Stan sighed and headed for the chair behind his desk. As he sat down he muttered, "Figured. You always were a fiesty one." He started rummaging through a drawer in the desk.
"Alright, what do ya want, a raise?" He pulled out the paperwork he was looking for and slid it towards you. You just shook your head at him.
Defeated, he leaned back in his chair and crossed his arms.
"Okay, this aint the first time I've been blackmailed. What'll buy your silence?"
At this point you couldn't hide your smile. You approached the desk and leaned over, your low-cut top perfectly showing off your cleavage in front of him. His eyes darted to the corner of the ceiling and he swallowed.
"Stan," it was the first time you'd ever used his first name in front of him, "we both know what I really want isn't silence."
He stole a few quick glances at you before studying the ceiling again. "What's your point?"
"I want you to take me out to dinner."
He did a touble-take and sat straight up in his chair, "Come again?"
"I like the attention, Stan," you laughed at him, "but I wasn't gonna give you what you wanted without a good scare first." You shot him a wink across the desk.
Stan's cheeks flooded pink, he was speechless.
You prodded him, "Well, did I? Scare you?"
Stan dramatically clutched his chest, "Ya nearly put me in an early grave, doll."
He stood and moved back to your side of the desk with a chuckle. "Was Wendy in on this?"
"Oh, of course."
With one arm, Stan grabbed you by the waist and pulled you into him, looking deeply into your eyes, "You make a pretty good con, y'know." His free hand found its way to your jaw and he pulled you into an energetic kiss that lasted several wonderful seconds.
As he pulled away, you flashed him a devilish smile, "I learned from the best."
I'm not the most proud of this fic, quality-wise, but it's been sitting finished in my drafts so I might as well post it. I will say this is not very ethical but it's just meant to be a fun story, don't take it too seriously

Day 6: Show/Fear
Prompt List
Pt. 5 of The Empire of Samadhi AU
Pt. 1 | Pt. 2 | Pt. 3 | Pt. 4 | Pt. 5 (you are here) | Pt. 6
(This is day 6 of the Monkie Destiny Challenge Prompt Month October 2023)
Wordcount: 2k
Summary: Red Son is the son of an old empire, Mei is the daughter of a new one. Red Son, consumed by fire, was put into an induced stasis sleep to stop the world from burning until his family can find a way to safely remove the fire. They find a way but he never wakes up. Hundreds of years later he awakes to discover his power resides within another as she stares at him with wide eyes on fire.
Welcome to the Show.
(This one’s a bit of a spookier one in light of this festive All Hallows’ Eve month. So warning for some mild body horror and creepy description. Please check the tags if you want more detail)
Tumblr media
Their landing was awkward.
Red Son ended up at the bottom of the pile with his face pressed into the floor with the other two on top of him. He knew immediately the destination was wrong when he felt wooden floorboards rather than dusty ash against his cheek.
They had landed somewhere they weren’t supposed to.
“Get off.” Red Son attempted to throw the two mortals off him and was kicked in the face twice by Mk before he managed to shove them both off onto the floor. “Idiots.”
He lifted his head to look around and found they’d landed in a theatre of some kind. It was empty but the lights were on, bringing a warm sort of atmosphere.
“Uh,” said Mei, with Mk draped over her lap like a limp rag-doll. “Hey, Samadhi Sifu… I think you took a wrong turn.”
“I didn’t do anything,” Red Son spat. “Some idiot hijacked my portal.” He pushed himself to his feet, cursing under his breath. “They never would have been able to do so if I was at my full strength.” He straightened up after brushing small bits of gold dust from that shattered plate off his hanfu. It didn’t matter much due to the fact it was already covered in soot, but that couldn’t be helped. Merciful Buddha, he wanted a bath.
“Ow,” said Mk, like he was the one who had gotten kicked in the face. Mei patted his back.
Red Son glanced around the theatre. It was mostly built from wood. At first glance it appeared to be new, but the closer he looked the more blemishes and broken things there were. It was an old theatre. The curtains were threadbare. There were chips in the wood. The lanterns only lit the space dimly, just bright enough to create shadows without really lighting all that much. All the seats faced a massive white screen at the head of the room. It reminded Red Son of a shadow puppet screen, only much, much bigger.
“We’ve got another thirty minutes here until my spell kicks back in,” Red Son said, glancing around for the doors or at least some sort of exit. He heard shuffling behind him and turned to see Mk falling off of Mei’s lap and face down onto the floor before popping back up, sitting cross-legged next to her.
“Well, at least there’s no spooky monkey here,” Mei said.
Upon being reminded of what exactly they’d been, not running, but retreating from, Red Son’s ire at whoever had portal-jacked him was washed over and drowned out by a very different sort of feeling.
Mk and Mei seemed content to stay on the ground as Red Son started to pace in front of them. He muttered under his breath.
Mk looked pale. Red Son had no doubt he’d be looking even paler if he’d known just who had been reaching for him.
Red Son feared nothing. Not death, not life, and no living being.
But his hands were shaking.
From the cold, he hissed to himself through gritted teeth. He would never have been shaking if he had his fire. He wouldn’t be so vulnerable if he had it. The white lady hadn’t seemed like a threat at first. She seemed a mild annoyance at best. He couldn’t sense any massive power coming from her, so how did she manage to get to him? He needed to rethink. Reevaluate. He needed to think. He needed to get his fire back or they were going to die.
“Well, well! That was quite a show!”
Red Son’s head snapped back to look where the voice was coming from. It seemed to bounce and echo over the walls, coming from nowhere and everywhere at once. Shadows seemed to tilt, getting darker, stretching further.
Mei was on her feet in an instance, Mk scrambling up close behind her, staggering a lot more.
The shadows seemed to converge on the stage, onto the screen rising up like ink until a shape was painted across it and then received form.
It was a shadow puppet.
A monkey. Merciful Buddha, Red Son had seen enough monkeys already today. Its mouth had been cut into a wide, unnerving smile, stretching over nearly half its face.
"I see you all met the Lady Bone Demon's puppet.” The puppet slumped sideways, limp, head tilting to almost upside down. It was strange. It moved in a way shadow puppets normally didn’t, to Red Son’s knowledge.
Red Son scoffed, folding his arms over his chest. “You look more like the puppet here.”
“Oho!” said the shadow puppet. “Good-” it flipped, revealing its other side, where the only difference was there was an slashed X in the place its eyes should have been, “--eye.” The puppet laughed. It doubled over with shrieking laughter at an awkward angle that didn’t look right.
Red Son found himself recoiling a bit. The thing sounded insane. Granted not as insane as him when he laughed, his cackle was much more impressive.
Out of the corner of his eye Red Son saw Mk grab Mei’s arm.
“Mei,” Mk said, his voice slightly shaky, urgent, “that sounds like-”
“I know,” Mei said, her voice grave, on edge.
“What are you two talking about?” Red Son snapped.
“Is that the Dragon Heir I see?” The puppet twisted itself as though it were hanging upside down from a branch. Sure enough the shadow of a tree rose up to assist the illusion. “And another puppet!” Its smile looked almost thrilled looking at Mk. “Isn't this all just so interesting? But who’s the third? I’ve never seen you before.” It dropped back down, into more of an animalistic, unnatural crawl. The shadow seemed to grow bigger as it crawled towards them, but it never moved off the screen.
“Who I am is none of the business of the likes of you,” Red Son said. “You know very well who you brought here. So cut the theatrics and state your business or we will burn your little theatre to the ground and you along with it.”
The puppet seemed to find that very funny, laughing and twisting. Red Son could feel something in the wood of this place. Something in the shadows growing thicker and moving.
“Oh, but the show is the best part!”
Mk cried out.
Red Son spun around to see shadows wrapping around his ankles and wrists. They lashed out around his arms binding him tightly and then pulled before any of them could react.
“Mk!” Mei yelled, reaching for him. She grabbed his wrist just before he was pulled into the shadows.
The rings lit. Mei practically spat out fire. “Let go of him.”
“There’s the famous fire!” The puppet seemed to smile wider, bigger, it sounded like it was a twisted form of excitement. “What a performance you gave that day!”
The strands of shadow snapped when Mei’s fire neared it and she caught Mk before pulling him to his feet.
“Mei,” said Mk, clinging to her.
“I know,” said Mei. “It's him.”
“What are you two peasants talking about-”
“You know,” said the puppet, drawing their attention, “really, it was rather impressive how you played right into her hands, bud.” It walked across the screen, but this time it continued off it, onto the wall. The laughter echoed.
For a moment Red Son thought the shadow was talking to Mei, but then Mei was stepping in front of Mk and shielding him with her arm, flames flickering dangerously above her.
“Mk had nothing to do with it,” Mei snapped.
The puppet laughed again, tumbling through shadows and bouncing from one place to the other around the room. It bent in unnatural directions. “Nothing? Nothing? He caused this.”
Red Son had to admit, he was curious. Curious as to how the man half-cowering behind Mei was responsible for… well, it was rather hard to understand what the puppet was referring to.
“I didn’t,” said Mk, but he didn't sound very confident about it.
“Do you think she would have gotten your precious friends if it weren’t for you? You think she would have gotten to your pathetic Sifu without your help?”
“He’s not pathetic!” Mk shouted at it. “I don’t know what you’re talking about-”
“All your second chances, all your do-good kindness lead to this. If it weren’t for you the Lady Bone Demon would have never gotten her hands on the rings.”
“But,” said Mk, his voice small, “I didn’t do anything…”
“And you think that’s a good thing?” The puppet laughed far too much in Red Son’s opinion. It lost its effectiveness after a while. At least on him. Mei and Mk just looked more and more unsettled and anxious. “You and your Master, so alike. Neither of you said anything to each other, did you?”
“What is he talking about?” Red Son asked, looking at Mk curiously.
Mk shrunk back from his gaze.
“It doesn’t matter,” Mei said. “Whatever happened doesn’t matter. So you better shut your mouth, Liú.”
The puppet stood for a moment, frozen still. Then it’s head snapped off the wall to look at Mei.
It became less of a shadow and more of a tangible thing. Its eyes were lifeless, its skin was more alive looking than a puppets should be. It had lace designs stretching across its skin in dark cracks across its skin. Its mouth stretched just as wide, but despite its upward tilting motion it didn’t look like it was smiling. It didn’t look completely like an object nor completely alive, some mix of both. Red Son could see both its eyes at once now, the slashed X over one of them looking like a gaping black hole. Its one eye was a pinprick amongst a pool, just as black, its pupil surrounded by a ring of purple.
“You’re cursed,” Red Son realized.
Its head snapped to look at him and Red Son felt frozen in place by it. The weight was nowhere near that of his fire contained in the rings above Mei’s head. But it was uncomfortable all the same. This thing in front of him was twisted and wrong and there was a lack of sanity in its one working eye that made it feel as though something would snap at any second. It looked as though it should be twitching but all it did was stay deathly still, not breathing but very clearly alive.
“Not our problem,” Red Son forced out, despite the way the words tried to lodge in his throat with the things one eye on him. “Dragon Girl, we’re leaving.”
“There’s no doors,” Mei muttered.
Red Son whipped his head around to check. And she was right. He hadn’t realized it at first, but there were no doors, no windows, no holes or cracks in the wall to slip through.
There was no way out.
It was a claustrophobic feeling. But Red Son wasn’t about to let a sealed room intimidate him.
“Very well then. Let us make one.”
“I can’t let you leave,” said the puppet that Mei called Liú. “They’ll come soon.”
“Elder Liú,” said Mk, “we can help you.”
“I can’t let you leave,” it said again, its mouth moving with the words unlike its shadow had when it spoke before. It was a horrifying sight. Shadows moved behind them, creeping closer. “I can’t let you leave. I can’t let you leave. I can’t let you leave-”
Red Son snorted. “You can’t stop us.”
It just kept repeating it over and over again, ignoring him. The shadows stretched higher. They curled over top of them. Red Son watched them creep out of the wall, wrapping around the puppet, over its mouth and face and dragging it back into the wall.
“Guys,” Mei said, glancing at her feet. “I think we’re in trouble here.”
“Then use my fire,” Red Son said through gritted teeth.
“Oh yeah,” Mei said, “right.” She shook off the shadows that had started to cling to her foot and the rings blazed brighter above her.
“Wait! Stop!” said Mk.
“What?” Mei said. Then yelped, because a shadow lashed out and wrapped around her arm.
One latched around Red Son’s leg and the shadows suddenly seemed a lot thicker and stronger than before.
“They’re shadows,” Mk said. “The more light you give them the stronger they’ll be.”
“How does that make sense?”
“Just look, the more light there is, the more shadow can be seen. Unless we could get enough light to get rid of every shadow, more light would just be making it worse.”
“Then what’s your suggestion,” Red Son snapped, clawing at the shadow that had attached itself to his wrist.
“Less light,” Mk said. “They can’t touch us if there’s no shadows to shape in the dark. We need to break the lanterns.”
“This is a terrible idea,” Red Son said.
“Do you think I have enough control over these rings to light up a whole room?” Mei asked.
Red Son did not think that.
“That’s what I thought.”
“Fine,” Red Son snapped. He snatched some fire away from Mei. The shadows had crept up to his hips now, wrapping and slowly sludging further up. He burnt some off his wrist so his hand was free. “Aim for the lanterns.”
Mei missed twice. Red Son’s feeble second-hand fire couldn’t reach very far but the sparks landed and managed to light the lantern.
“No,” the voice echoed, “what are you doing? Stop- stop I can’t exist without them-”
“It's okay, Elder Liú,” Mk said, “we’ll get you out of here.”
“Stop!”
“Ugh,” said Red Son, straining against the shadows that were now up to his shoulders. “You’re disgustingly reassuring, aren’t you.”
“I try,” Mk said. He was trying to hide it but Red Son could hear the panic in his voice.
The last lamp went out, burned to nothing, but light still remained.
“Dragon Girl, the rings.”
Mei cursed.
“Mei-” Mk’s voice was cut off as the shadows wrapped around his mouth and started dragging him down.
“Mk!”
“THE RINGS!” Red Son yelled at her.
“I GOT IT,” Mei roared back.
The shadows wrapped around Red Son’s mouth and started pulling.
The rings flickered.
“NO!” the puppet appeared in front of Mei’s face, reaching.
All at once the light went out.
Red Son fell flat on the floor, followed by two thumps.
“HA!” said Mk. “I told you! How can you get grabbed by something when you’re already in it! It's like swimming!”
“Water has currents that can grab you,” Red Son snapped at him.
“Shadows aren’t tangible like water.”
“You make less sense the more you talk.”
“It worked, didn’t it?” Mk huffed.
“Woo! Mk!” Mei cheered. “I’m gonna see that last bit in my nightmares! Haha! Where’d Old Liú go anyway?”
“Um, I’m not sure,” Mk said. “Let me check.”
There was a moment of shuffling and silence in the pitch black. Then Mk’s bright voice came.
“Found him! He’s small now. Looks like a real shadow puppet.”
“What? How can you see?”
“Huh, I wonder if we could un-curse him like how we unpossessed Mk,” Mei said, ignoring Red Son’s question.
“He feels like he’s made out of dry stuff,” Mk said. “I don’t know if it's safe to try.”
“Just give him to me,” Red Son scoffed, blinding feeling around for Mk. “I’ll seal him in so he won’t jump back out the moment there’s shadows to jump from if you’re both so worried about it. You can figure out what to do with this thing later. We’re going to be pulled back any minute now.”
Red Son heard a sound that took him a moment to place as Mk’s muffled laughter.
“What? What are you laughing at?”
“Nothing,” Mk said. “Here, hold still, I'll hand him to you.”
Red Son sighed and held out his hand impatiently.
He could feel Mk standing in front of him, hesitating.
“What now?” he groaned.
“Just… be careful with him. Don’t hurt him okay?” Mk finally handed him over.
“Whatever,” said Red Son, casting the spell to seal the puppet in its current form. “He’s none of my concern, living or dead.”
Mk didn’t reply to that, but he could practically feel his worry.
“There,” Red Son said, shoving him back at him. “He won’t be any trouble for now.”
“Great,” said Mei. “So do we need to talk about why Liú looks like a monkey? Or…?”
The ground lit up underneath them.
Mk yelped, his face illuminated and rushed to stuff the small shadow-puppet into his hanfu.
The room lit up in flames.

Warnings: none
Yuji:
You sighed as you laid in bed annoyed, sleep evading you as it always seems to these days.
"Babe? You alright?" said a sleepy voice next to you.
"Uh huh," you responded, embarrassed you had woken up your beloved bed buddy, "don't worry about it, Yuji. Go back to sleep."
You felt sheets rustle as you could just barely make out his figure in the darkness of the room. He grabbed his phone from the nightstand, lighting up his face that was contorted in worry.
"You sound sad. Having trouble sleeping again?" he asked, his big eyes shining brightly with concern as he reached for your hand, caressing it softly with his thumb.
"Yeah."
His lips formed a pout. "You should've woken me up! You know I'd stay up with you."
You let out another sigh. "And drag you into my bad sleep habits? No way."
"You don't have to deal with this alone, you know."
You felt his arms wrap around you, the comfort of his touch instantly calming you.
"You wanna watch a movie? Maybe something really boring that way you'll fall asleep no problem!"
You heard the smile he was wearing in his eager voice and you thought about how lucky you were to have such a kind boyfriend who loved to try and solve your problems.
You giggled. "That's a good idea, but you holding me is actually relaxing me a bit. Can we just stay like this for now?"
Yuji brought you in closer, pressing a kiss to your head. "Of course. But if I fall asleep again, please wake me up. Preferably with a kiss but if that doesn't work, a slap is fine, too."
You just shook your head, smiling. Your insomnia didn't seem as daunting with Yuji around!
Megumi:
It was 5am and your body had decided it had enough sleep for the night. Granted, you had only slept a mere 3 hours, but it was clear that you weren't going to be resting any longer so you got up, frustrated with how your day was starting. You made your way outside, careful not to disrupt any of the other students. You roamed the empty halls of Jujutsu High, the sun still below the horizon. You decided to go to your favorite spot on mornings like these: the roof of a classroom building. It was peaceful, hidden away from any other unfortunate souls who may be up at that hour. You climbed the stairs and opened the door to the roof. When you stepped out of the doorway, you saw the silhouette of a boy that was extremely familiar to you and your day already seemed to go in a better direction. You walked over, your feet barely making any noise as you sat next to your boyfriend.
"Couldn't sleep?" he asked. His voice was softer, not sporting that slight edge that creeped in more and more as the hours passed by.
"Nope. You either?"
"Nope."
You two sat in silence with your shoulders brushing, watching the sun as it slowly rose.
"I knew you'd be here," Megumi said after several minutes. "I hope you don't mind I'm here too."
"You make everything better," you whispered, resting your head against his shoulder. He was grateful that the sun was washing everything in its orange glow so you couldn't see the blush forming on his cheeks.
Yuta:
When Yuta woke up with empty arms and a cold spot where you usually lay, his heart sank. He knew exactly what was going on--your insomnia had struck again. Frowning, he pulled himself out of bed and took hold of an extra blanket before starting his search in the dark for you. He finally found you in the shared kitchen area, the light illuminating your hands cupped around your drink. He felt tugs at his heartstrings seeing your defeated posture.
"Y/n?" he called out softly, not wanting to scare you. You turned in your chair, surprise written on your face.
"Yuta! What are you doing up? It's the middle of the night."
"I woke up and you were gone," he said, putting the blanket around your shoulders before sitting next to you. "I wanted to make sure you were alright."
You buried your face in your hands. "I didn't mean to scare you! And I probably woke you when I got up. I'm sorry, I'm the worst."
Yuta gently took your hands into his own, coaxing you to look at him. "Hey, hey! No more of that. That's not true at all. I think I just subconsciously knew you left and that's why I woke. Not your fault."
He smiled at you tenderly. "I'll keep you company until you finish your drink and then we can walk back together, okay?"
"I'm fine, you have to go get your sleep," you tried to argue, but he wouldn't have it.
"I don't want you to be lonely. Besides," he added timidly, "I can't get any rest without you by my side."
You leaned over and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Then I promise to gulp this down so we can get you to bed, you hopeless romantic."
Seeing Yuta get adorably flustered in the dead of night made you not hate your insomnia so much!
Inumaki:
Frustrated with your lack of sleepiness, you did what any person would do: text their boyfriend!
You: hey are u awake? can't sleep☹️
Toge👅: of course i am !!
Toge👅: ooooh you want me soooo bad😈
You: never mind ur annoying
Toge👅: NOOOO PLEASE IM JOKING🥺🙏🧎
You: ur lucky ur cute. be right over
Toge👅: yay😇
When you got to Toge's room, the first thing you did was touch his game console. Feeling its heat, you pointed a finger at him accusingly.
"You weren't awake, you liar! You just turned this off and fell asleep, didn't you!"
"Bonito flakes!" he replied indignantly.
"I should go. I can't keep you up all night," you said, trying to knock some sense into him, but he grasped your arm before you could leave. Pointing to his bed, you took the hint to sit down. Showing you his typed answer on his phone, you saw him raise his eyebrows playfully.
Do you think this is the first time I've ever pulled an all nighter?
"Well, no but-"
He interrupted you with a finger to your lips, typing furiously with his other unoccupied hand.
It definitely won't be the last. Any time I can spend with you I'll gladly take :)
After you read the message, your eyes traveled up to see Toge blinking at you slowly, serenity overtaking his features. You gave him a short kiss before he turned the game console back on, snuggling into your side and low-key thankful for your insomnia to allow him to see you for many more hours--and also for the chance to beat the level he was currently stuck on.
Noritoshi:
After a long night of staring at the ceiling and finding no relief of sleep, you decided it was best to just get up instead of waiting for something that was never coming. You found yourself walking to the campus library, looking forward to losing yourself in an interesting book after 7 hours of dealing with uninteresting thoughts clouding your mind while you laid in bed. Plucking a story from the shelf, you quickly dove in. You were so engrossed that you didn't hear the library door opening and closing, signaling you were no longer alone.
"Y/n," Noritoshi said, capturing your attention. "What are you doing up so early?"
"Me? What about yourself?"
"I asked you first," he replied teasingly, sitting in the chair next to you.
"I couldn't sleep at all," you confessed, your voice coated in disappointment.
"Me neither," he replied. "Is it your insomnia or are you bothered by something?"
"Bothered by insomnia."
He nodded, knowing you had dealt with that for quite a long time.
"Obviously I'm no better off," he started, his gray eyes looking upon you lovingly, "so I don't have advice but I can offer you some companionship if you'd like."
"That would be amazing. Thank you," you told him, giving him a kiss on the cheek that made a faint blush arise on his skin. His smooth robes that brushed against your shoulder as you two read your books in a comfortable silence gave you the sense of calm you were craving all night.
Todo:
You were lying awake in your bedroom, the clock reading much past the time you should’ve been asleep. Your insomnia was hitting hard tonight and you didn’t know what to do. There weren’t many outside activity options available during the middle of the night but there was no way you could take another second being confined in the four walls that granted you no rest.
You: hey do you happen to be awake rn? no worries if not :)
Todo💪: can’t sleep??
Todo💪: I’m coming over!!
You lit up into a big smile when you read Aoi’s texts. He knew you so well and was always there for you whenever you needed him. You heard soft knocks at your door and opened it, greeted by your boyfriend flashing you a grin of his own as he leaned against the doorway.
“Care to go for a walk?”
Yeah—he understood you better than anyone else you had ever met.
“Please,” you said, taking his outstretched hand as you traversed into the night. The moon was hanging high in the sky, illuminating the walkway.
“I’m sorry you couldn’t sleep. Is there anything I can do?” he asked sweetly.
“This is more than enough, I promise,” you said. “I’m sorry if I woke you.”
“Don’t ever be sorry for that, y/n,” Aoi told you, giving your hand a small squeeze. “It’s a privilege and an honor for me to be the person you come to when you need comfort. Thank you.”
He looked like he was ready to cry, overwhelmed by his love for you. You pressed your body closer to his to show your own affection for him as you stepped in time with each other. You were relieved to know that no matter the time of day or situation you were in, Aoi wouldn’t hesitate to be by your side.
Ino:
You were busy making yourself some food in your apartment kitchen after your many unsuccessful attempts to fall asleep. You figured a midnight—well, 2am—snack couldn’t hurt so you got to work, making sure not to create too much noise; not that it mattered. Ino had started snoring at almost the exact moment his head hit the pillow, filling you with envy at how quick he could slumber. Seeing as he probably wouldn’t stir even if a bomb went off in the house, you weren’t too concerned about waking him up, though you were still being courteous. You put the baking sheet full of cookies you just made into the oven and were just about to shut the oven door.
“Ooh yum! Cookies!”
You slammed the oven door shut in your surprise, jumping out of your skin at the unexpected kitchen visitor.
“Oh my god, Ino! You scared me to death!” you chided, holding a hand to your wildly beating heart.
“Heh, sorry babe. Didn’t mean to startle you,” he said with a nervous, crooked smile.
“What are you doing awake anyway? It’s the middle of the night.”
“I got up to go to the bathroom and you weren’t in bed so I wanted to see if you were okay,” he explained. “Although I’m a fan of baked goods, why are you making these right now?”
“Couldn’t sleep a wink,” you said, irritated at your situation.
“That’s no fun, I’m sorry.” He wrapped his arms around your waist and kissed the top of your head. “How about I stay up with you until these are done? Some cookies, a glass of milk, and kissing you doesn’t sound like a half bad way to spend my night.”
“Are you sure? I don’t want to make you tired in the morning,” you said, concerned.
“I promise I’ll be fine. I can deal with being a little sleepy if it means I can gaze upon your cute face for more time than usual.”
You lightly swatted his chest. “You’re so cheesy.”
He grinned, pulling you into a kiss that lasted until the cookies were done (and then some).
Gojo:
Satoru's eyes blinked open as soon as he felt the bed spring up slightly, your body no longer on the mattress. He laid alone in silence for a few moments, waiting to hear the usual clink of a water glass on the bedside table signaling your arrival, but that sound never reached his ears. Sliding his slippers on his feet, he padded into the kitchen of your shared apartment and was met with you sitting at the table, your body slumped over.
"You still alive down there?" he asked, poking you with his finger.
"I can't sleep," you grumbled, your voice muffled.
"Sure you can, it's easy. Just close your eyes-"
Your head shot up, giving him a glare which effectively quieted him for a second before he gave you a sheepish grin.
"Just trying to lighten the mood," he said, sitting next to you. You felt the comforting motion of a hand rubbing circles on your back as you sighed.
"I'm exhausted, Satoru."
He could tell by the way your eyes were missing some of their trademark sparkle.
"I know. I deal with sleepless nights a lot, too," he confessed. "I don't have any advice. I'm sorry."
He slung a lanky arm around your shoulder. "But you know what should help a little bit?"
"Hmm?"
"Spending time with your favorite man."
You gasped. "Nanami's here?"
Your next few sleepless hours were spent cuddling with Satoru to make up for your teasing!
Geto:
You sat up in bed, exasperated at your body's inability to let you slumber. You had tried to tire yourself out extra today in hopes of making you sleepy, but it had only led you to this moment where you were unable to sleep and extra cranky because you were so worn out. You were about to get out of bed and watch tv in the other room when an arm snaked around your waist.
"What's wrong, my love?" Suguru wondered, sensing your irritation.
"My insomnia strikes again. I can't sleep no matter what I do."
Your boyfriend sat up, lighting the candle that resided on the table next to the bed. You watched the flame flicker as Suguru guided your head to his chest, his arms around you in an effort to console you.
"I wish I could cure your discomfort. You don't deserve to feel this way, not when there are so many others who should never know a peaceful night again. It's unfair."
"Just luck of the draw, I guess," you mused, feeling him tighten his grip on you.
"I know I can't ease your sleeplessness but I promise I will be alongside you the whole time. Tell me what I can do to make you feel better."
"Just... hold me, please."
Although sleep never came for you that night, you were left feeling renewed from your heart full of love.
Nanami:
Having woken up too many times in one night to be considered healthy, you decided to abandon the idea of sleep and start your day at 4 in the morning. You sat down with your laptop and began working, hoping to at least do something productive instead of wallowing in your frustration at your insomnia. Before you knew it, the sun was high in the sky and you knew Kento would be up soon so you decided to make breakfast for you both.
"Good morning, handsome," you greeted him when he stepped into the kitchen, a kind smile resting on his face as he gave you a small kiss.
"Good morning, dear. I take it you've been up a while?" he asked, sipping on the coffee you brewed.
"Not that long," you lied, not wanting to worry him. He looked behind you and spied your laptop that was left open on a document he knew for a fact you hadn't started since the last time you spoke--which was last night at bedtime.
"Having trouble sleeping again?" he questioned, but it came out more as a statement since he already knew the answer. You nodded, taking a bite of your food.
He sighed and took a gentle hold of your hand. "You should wake me when that happens. That way you won't have to be alone."
"You need your sleep, Kento."
"I get enough," he said with no hesitation. "I'd rather be awake and slightly tired than let you suffer by yourself."
He brought your hand his lips and placed a soft kiss on the back of it.
"I hope tonight is better for you," he said, "but if it isn't, I'll be right there with you. Okay?"
You couldn't help the smile that appeared at his stubbornness. "Okay."
Choso:
"It's happening again, isn't it?"
You turned away from the tv show you were watching and saw your boyfriend Choso leaning against a wall behind you, the light from the screen giving him an ethereal look.
"Unfortunately," you replied, not very successful at masking your discontentment toward the insomnia that was plaguing you. Stretching his arms and yawning, he walked over and took a seat next to you.
"How can I help?" he asked, his big brown eyes studying your tired features.
"No, Choso, you should go to bed. You need to rest."
He sent a soft smile your way. "I think I've gotten plenty of rest over the years I've been alive. I want to help you."
You relented, leaning into his side. "I appreciate that but there's really nothing that helps. Nothing that I've found, anyway."
"I see." He cuddled up closer to you, pressing a kiss to your cheek before turning his attention to the tv. "Then I guess I'll have to stay up with you until I think of something."
You had butterflies in your stomach from his insistence to stay awake you.
"Are you sure?" you asked, wanting to double check that he meant it.
"I couldn't dream of anything better than being in your company all night long."
Toji:
You groaned quietly as you awoke for the fifth time that night, not able to stay asleep long enough for any rest to come your way. Knowing that you wouldn't be blessed with any more sleep, you picked up your phone and began to scroll mindlessly, hoping to ease your frustration with some screen time. You held your phone close to your face with your back turned to your boyfriend, not wanting the light to wake him up as well.
"Whatcha hidin' over there?" asked Toji, his voice gravelly as he loomed over you. You jumped, not expecting him to be awake.
"Toji! You scared me," you complained. He let out a laugh, propping himself up with his hand.
"Sorry, didn't mean to, cutie," he said and you could practically hear his smirk.
"Couldn't sleep?" he questioned, taking on a more serious tone as he dragged a finger up and down your arm in a gentle caress.
You groaned again. "No. This is, like, the millionth time I've woken up. I gave up trying to sleep."
"That sucks."
"Understatement of the year, but yeah."
He glanced at the alarm clock next to you. "It's almost morning anyway. How about I just hold ya until the sun comes up?"
You quirked an eyebrow. "Getting sentimental on me in the early hours, Fushiguro?"
He started to lay back down. "Or you could go back to your phone if that's preferable."
"I'm coming over, you big baby," you joked, scooting your body into his, the confines of his steady grip making your heart soar with happiness. It wasn't often that you two could enjoy loving moments like these so you made sure to savor every second in his arms.

Terrapin Soup Part 9 (4/7)
"Leo- I'm talking about real people here, like real ones with thoughts and feelings and families!" "You think regular animals don't have that?? You think cows and pigs and whatever else don't have emotions and connections? That they wouldn't want to die if asked? But that's not the case here is it?! I'm not saying its okay or that I wouldn't be.. Y'know, shocked to find something like that out.. Just that its not black and white, it's never that simple. I mean what if he grew up unable to afford food and hunted bad guys who no one would miss? What if he had a really fucked up childhood and just grew up doing that? What if it was normal and it was as common as being left handed or having red hair or something? What if.. What if he had some kind of brain defect that just made him that way? And no matter what he did he couldn't help it or stop? What then?" April took half a step back, she didn't expect him to get worked up about it like this.. She hadn't really thought of it like that though, in the human world it was pretty black and white. But in a world where it was hundreds of differed species all mixed together some starting from animals and others starting from people.. It wasn't as clear as it might be for others. "I.. Guess you're right. I'm not accusing them of anything either y'know, I just.. I worry a lot, not as much as Raph but I'm your big sister, I wanna look out for you guys. And if your boyfriends dad eats people what do you think could happen if he didn't like you? Or if they both did and him dating you was some horror movie plot to let your guard down so he could eat you too! I-I don't actually believe that, but I mean it could happen!" Leo rolled his eyes, the anxiety he had before quickly turning to anger. "You don't know what you're talking about, I love Usagi, and Usagi loves me. He'd never hurt me. And y'know what? Even if he did eat people, I'd still like him. You guys need to stop worrying about me like I'm too stupid to know whos good and whos not. I'm not as dumb as you all think so stop trying to protect me from problems that don't exist. I'm really happy with Usagi, I feel so seen and understood like I could make any mistake and he'd still be there, like I could be at my worst and he'd never hold it against me.. So as long as he doesn't hurt innocent people or my family I don't care what he does." "Leo…" April was about to say something else but Donnie's figure came into view, "Leo-! There you guys are, I got an alert that your vasovagal syncope might be triggered. Do you feel light headed at all or dizzy? Any vision problems?" "..My what?" Leo turned back to Donnie, his mood having yet to calm down. "An alert? Why the fuck do you know get alerts for my vitals?" Donnie's tech gave another ping but he quickly slapped his hand over to try and mute the sound, April put a hand to her neck trying to motion to Donnie that now was not the time for this conversation but he didn't understand the gesture in time. "I uh.. Well we all have them- Incase something were to happen, even dad has one of my state of the art chips somewhere super top secret so we can accurately monitor our heath and-"

m. l. rio - if we were villains
Hi, it's been a while! I've been itching to write a book review because it's been over a year now, and sometimes I just have to scream about books in other places than on Discord (I still scream about books on Discord, but shh).
So why not just write a book review about a book that I did not enjoy? Haha, what a funny thing nobody has ever done before! I sure wonder what this funny guy is going to say about this book he didn't enjoy.
Anyway, this is going to be pretty long, and I'm gonna bitch about a bunch of stuff in here. Will contain spoilers.
Content warnings:
substance abuse (alcohol, drugs)
cheating
suicide
This book was my first venture into the dark academia genre/aesthetic, something I'd seen a bunch of stolen Tiktoks about on my Pinterest feed, but never paid too much attention to, mostly because I don't really care about stories centered on students. Maybe that should have been my first warning sign.
Initially, I wanted to read The Secret History by Donna Tartt because that's apparently what's seen as the dark academia staple, but I decided to stick to this because it was the only book I'd found an audiobook of on Scribd, and audiobooks are more digestible. Read a bit of the blurb and thought, "okay, sounds like it could be interesting".
Man was I wrong.
Reading the blurb, I already knew I'd have to handle pretty pretentious characters, because there's nothing more pretentious than a group of more or less wealthy white theater kids obsessed with Shakespeare (except for rich white business majors and law majors, put one of each category in a locked room and they'd maul each other within 0.5 seconds like wild beasts trying to one-up the other), but holy shit, it was worse than I'd anticipated.
The writing makes everyone and especially Oliver (the narrator) sound insufferable to the point where I wished they could simply shut up. Unfortunately, this book has slug-like pacing and bitches who love to talk on top of chapters that are padded with lines copied verbatim from Shakespeare plays because admittedly you need a very high IQ to understand the nuances and intricacies of Shakespeare plays and how it influences the characters.
And while we're still on writing: while in theory, the script-like snippets are a fun nod to how plays are formatted, it simply doesn't work in audiobook format. Really grating to hear things like "James: Cock" "Me: So true bestie" when my patience was already wearing thin the more I listened to it.
Yet, the writing wasn't the most infuriating aspect of this book to me. I think what infuriates me the most about If We Were Villains is that, ultimately, the entire book tries so hard to be deep and emotional regarding its plot and its characters when said plot is predictably boring and the characters have the depth of a single sheet of paper.
So let's talk about the plot! By the halfway point in the first part of the book, it was made obvious who would die between the main characters, but comically so. The moment Richard started acting up, I felt like the author slapped a huge sign on his head like "Watch out! He's either the bad guy or... THE VICTIM! OMG!" because there was no way Mrs Rio could come back from turning Richard into a goofy Sunday morning kids cartoon villain. And as soon as Richard died, I also predicted the twist itself, because it was so goddamn obvious it felt like it was screamed into my ears.
Now, I usually don't mind if a plotline is predictable. Actually, I enjoy it! It makes me feel smart to predict things and figure out what's happening, and it usually keeps me engaged rather than plot twists that are pulled out of the author's ass! The problem with this book, though, is that I wasn't engaged in the characters to begin with, so following them going through their problems after Richard's death just made me feel a total sense of apathy followed by "so... when are we getting to more plot?"
It focuses too much on trying to give emotional depth to characters whom, in my opinion, severely lack it to begin with. The main characters aren't interesting to me, they're just puppets with names on them at this point. They can really just be summed up into archetypes that are barely explored in a way that feels compelling:
Oliver: The average joe. Oh, look at him, he's so average and surrounded by people who are so much more interesting than him (this is a lie)!
James: The guy. I'm struggling to find anything interesting about him, besides the fact that he's Oliver's best friend and roommate. You can tell he's important because he's Oliver's roommate. I think a loaf of white bread would be more memorable as a character than him.
Richard: Probably the most interesting character in the cast, ironically, solely because he's a fish out of the water. By that, I mean that he's just a jock in the middle of theater kids. Besides that, he's laughable at best: the author tries so hard to make him devoid of anything sympathetic in the moments leading up to his death that it nullifies any emotional investment you could have in any of the characters.
Meredith: The hot girl but like not in an objectified way, in a gaslight gatekeep girlboss way (this is a lie). Richard's girlfriend. Can't catch a break because everyone and their mom objectifies and slut shames her. She usually breasts boobily, not in written script but in spirit due to how her role in the story is pretty much "piece of meat".
Alexander: The weed-smoking gay literature major stereotype, except in a special way because he objectifies Meredith too, for some reason. Diversity win! Gay man is also gross towards women!
Filippa, Wren and Colin: Filippa and Wren exist for the sole purpose of not turning this cast into a complete sausage fest (& Knuckles Meredith). Filippa is the good friend who covers everyone, and Wren is the fragile frail uwu girl. Colin exists solely to be Alexander's boyfriend.
What a totally charming cast of characters who are oh so full of depth, and completely developed throughout this book. There's also a detective guy, but I completely forgot his name because the book spent too much time on this group of pretentious theater kids whining about their interpersonal relationships.
Man, just talking about how much this book bored me is becoming a pain in the ass, so I'll just summarize what I thought about the book here:
Pretentious, flowery writing with sluggish and often jarring pacing
Characters who are equally pretentious and whose high airs desperately try to hide the innate nothing burger-ness of their existence
Extremely predictable plot that's handed to the reader on a platter by the first part, making the reading experience that much more boring when you have 0 affinity nor sympathy for any of the cast members
Final rating: 1/5 (2.29/10 on CAWPILE). I should have dropped this book when I predicted the entire plot instead of being stubborn.

THE THUNDER HASHIRA - Teaser
It was cold. I know that. Very cold. I mean what do you expect? It's the middle of winter. It was one of the rare days where my parents let me stay over at Yuko's house for the night.
I shook the wary feeling off and continued down the path, well that is until I saw him. He was dressed in odd clothing and carried what looked like a katana at his side. It confused me but I kept walking. He then spotted me and walked toward me, I froze.
"Hello miss, what are you doing out here? It's dangerous to be outside at night."
"I know, I was running a bit late so I'm heading back now." I said politely.
"I'll walk you back, dangerous creatures roam the night, can't be too careful." So he walked me to my friends house. He stopped at the front, not going to walk up to the door.
"Thank you, sir. Sorry for bothering you with this." I smile apologetically. He was probably doing something until I bothered him with this.
"No no it's fine really. It's my job. Have a good night miss." And he left, just like that. That was weird, what did he mean by "it's my job"? I shrugged it off and walked up to the door then froze. What was that stench?
I slowly opened the door and was hit was a terrible stench. I've never smelt something like this before, I couldn't figure out what it was. I had to close my eyes and take deep breathes through my mouth to steady myself. It made me nauseous. I then opened my eyes, and I figured out where the smell was coming from. Everywhere. There were splatters of red everywhere, soaking the walls. It took me a minute to realise it was blood and I nearly threw up at the realisation. But then I saw the bodies, then the torn flesh, then their faces, then the man-like thing in the middle of the room feasting on Yuko's mother.
I started hyperventilating as I looked around the room for Yuko. Then I saw him, he was lying on the floor close to the wall, he was looking right at me. Or at least I thought he was until I realised how dead his eyes were. I slapped my hand over my mouth at the sight.
Then the sounds finally registered. The ripping of flesh, the sick splats, the chewing. And then I finally threw up. I fell to my knees and clutched the wall for support as I leaned over and added my vomit to the mess of human fluids, parts and gore.
Big mistake. That drew the attention of the thing in the centre of the room.
"Heh, didn't know I'd be getting dessert today." It chuckled, but I didn't get time to register what it said before it lunged at me. I screamed and tried to back away but it pinned me to the ground. Its claws dug into my skin and I can feel the blood from its mouth drip onto my face and neck as it hovered over me and its claws drew my own blood. I squeezed my eyes and only let a whimper out as I waited for it to rip my flesh apart.
But it never did.
I never heard the heavy footsteps approaching, or the drawing of a sword. But I did feel the thing jump back and let me go along with a pool of blood splash over my clothing. I opened my eyes and looked up to see the man from earlier standing over me protectively as he held a sword pointed at the thing. I looked down and saw the blood that splattered over me and nearly threw up again. It looked the same but it was slightly heavier and smelt different.
"Can you stand?"
"H-huh?" I looked up to the man who kept his eyes on the demon as they fought. I didn't even realise when they started fighting.
"Can you stand?"
"I-I think..."
"Ok. Stand up and run. Get as far away as you can. I'll find you when this is over." He left no room for argument. So I stood, and ran. I was pretty slow, I didn't realise the thing scratched my leg pretty bad, still in shock. But I kept running as far and quickly as possible.
Minutes felt like hours and i soon couldn't take another step, I looked back and saw that I left a trail of my own blood, along with some from my clothes behind me. I backed myself into an ally and then everything set in. I started crying. I tried to keep quiet and I did mostly. I was stuck in that ally alone until the man found me which wasn't until we started to see specks of the sun over the houses.
"W-wha-what was th-that thing?"
"A demon."

My Unwanted Mate - Chapter 20 - Part 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
*Warning Adult Content*
Torin Frey
Smiling mischievously, I peaked up at my Robby to make sure he was still sound asleep.
Which he was, with his lips slightly parted and drool on his chin.
Looking nothing like the big bad Alpha everyone thought him to be.
Although sometimes, when he'd pretend to be that rough Alpha, I'd get all tingly and want him to do naughty things... like now.
Slipping my arm under the blanket, I rested my hand on his stomach.
He didn't stir, only continued to snore.
Scooting closer, I slid my hand lower, already wiggling some in my excitement.
If I work him up a bit, he'll take over and give me those good feelings I loved so much.
When my hand reached the band of his boxers, Robby grumbled something and buried his face in my curls.
My hand slipped under the fabric, finding exactly what I was looking for.
The feel of it in my hand was so familiar now, the large member could basically be my own... I already considered it mine.
Only I was allowed to see it, touch it, taste it.
I didn't tell Robby that though... it might hurt his Alpha male pride.
A few strokes and it had found its way out of his boxers, now standing proud under the cover.
My mate was still sound asleep, only his snores had lessened and his hips lifted with each stroke downwards.
My own pajamas were becoming a nuisance, so I let go of my mate long enough to strip without waking him.
I couldn't see my own naughty bits anymore, not with the bump.
It wasn't an issue though... Robby took care of them just fine.
Crawling under the blanket, I situated myself between my mate's legs and got to work on waking him up.
In no time he was groaning, hips flexing as I struggled to get more of him into my mouth.
Needy whimpers left my throat, my thighs already wet from my slick.
His hand found the back of my head and I knew he was finally awake.
I sucked harder in my excitement, knowing I'd get a treat soon.
"Fuck, Tory," Robby growled, lifting the blanket so he could watch me. I met his eyes, pulling off of him to smile innocently.
"Good morning, Alpha."
My mates eyes darkened, his hand finding my curls again.
I let him direct me back down to his length, my mouth opening to accept him.
His teeth clenched to suppress his moan, the grip he had on my curls tightening.
I moaned around him, making the big male shiver.
He was close, I could tell by how he dropped his head back and his eyes closed.
I would've gotten my morning treat if the bedroom door hadn't burst open.
Robby jumped from the interruption, my teeth grazing him accidentally and making him wince.
"They fucking took him."
I froze under the covers at the sound of my brother's upset voice.
"Uh... Calvin, not a good time dude."
"They stole my pup."
'Benji? Did someone take him?'
Crawling up the bed, I awkwardly poked my head from under the cover, quickly wiping my mouth as an afterthought.
Robby growled in annoyance, realizing we weren't going to finish anytime soon.
"They're not here. I looked everywhere. I even called the pack house but no one has seen them."
Calvin looked distraught by this, his eyes a little crazed as he stares at Robby as if he could magically pull them out of his ass.
"Who?" I asked, my mind still cloudy.
"My mates."
I raised a brow and Calvin paused, realizing what he'd just admitted.
"A little too late for that," Robby murmured and I slapped his arm.
"Have you tried calling them?" I asked, not wanting him to get any more worked up and do something stupid.
As he was prone to doing.
Calvin shook his head.
"I don't have their numbers."
'Figures. My brother has always been a freaking idiot.'
"I'll give them to you but..."
"But?" he asked, knowingly.
"But you have to promise me, not to be mean to them."
Calvin growled, earning one from Robby in response.
"They stole my pup."
"They're merely having a day out with their pup," I said, grinning at Calvin, who was silently going over his options.
He didn't have many.
"Fine. Whatever."
I went to jump up but Robby grabbed me, keeping me under the blanket.
Right, I was naked.
"Give us a minute... we'll meet you downstairs."
Calvin looked confused before his eyes widened and he just about ran out of the room.
Giggling, I looked to my mate who was holding back his own laughter.
His brows lifted suggestively and I squealed when he rolled on top of me, prepared to finish what I'd started.
********
Robby carried me down the stairs, not trusting me to go down them myself after I'd nearly tripped.
I didn't mind anymore, I just accepted it.
He'd been like this since we found out that I was pregnant.
At first, it was endearing, then it became annoying but now it's whatever.
My family was still crowding Calvin's home, talking loudly over each other as they discussed the recent events.
Mom had called grandma to vent about her oldest, not knowing they'd all show up within hours.
"Good morning bean," Tommy greeted, eyes still sleepy as he leaned against Jasper.
My brother-in-law already looked annoyed.
Calvin cut off my view of everyone, eyes watching me impatiently.
I sighed, pulling out my phone and going to my contacts.
"You should've paid more attention to mom when she talked to us about mates," I commented, taking extra long to find the numbers.
"If you did maybe you'd know that what you feel for then isn't the mate bond, that's all your doing. The bond only lets us know who we'd be most comfortable with."
My brother didn't say anything, only grumbled.
"Besides, you've already chosen your own partner and we all know how that turned out."
Before he could snap at me, I started reading out the first number.
I pray that the twins could find it in them to forgive my idiot brother once he gets his head out of his ass.
My nephew needed a complete home... one filled with all the love the little pup deserved.
The twins were perfect for that role... if only Calvin would realize that.

Your eyes flick over your shoulder, watching for any sort of attention from the tall figure across the room. Hand gripping onto Tachihara's arm again, you let a smile settle on your lips when you feel the gaze of a certain someone land on your back.
"So y/n, how about we go out for drinks soon or something? It's been a while since we've done anything together, we can invite Chuuya and Akutagawa too. It'll be just like old times."
"I'd love that! We'll have to do it soon though, cause I have an assignment coming up." Tachihara nods in understanding before draping his arm over your shoulder, to which you press into his side.
"Sounds good. Do you wanna go find the boys? I saw Akutagawa earlier but I haven't seen Chuuya yet tonight." Your eyes scan over the large ballroom in the headquarters, occasionally drifting up the tall pillars to admire the architecture. It's no special day, however, Mori wanted to throw a celebratory dinner for something you're not entirely sure of.
You’re about to agree and walk off with Tachihara, but a firm voice halts your actions.
“Actually, I’d like to speak with y/n.” You smirk at the voice, satisfied that you finally gained its attention.
“Of course, boss. See ya, y/n—don’t forget about our plans!” Tachihara removes his arm and leaves with a wink, and as soon as his eyes are turned away, a strong hand grips your waist from behind and begins to lead you away from the party towards the elevators.
“You’re so mean, driving away Michizou-kun like that. I was talking to him!” You cross your arms in a pout, and once you’re both in the elevator, Mori spins you to face him, pressing your back against the wall.
“It looks like you wanted to do more than just talk to him, hm?” The elevator doors close shut behind you and he dips his head down so it’s inches away from yours. “Don’t forget who you belong to.” A frown appears on your lips and you turn your head away from him.
“I don’t belong to anyone, thank you very much.” Mori’s eyes darken and you swallow nervously. The grip on your waist tightens, and you let out a tiny whimper.
“How about you rethink that sentence, y/n.” The elevator dings and the doors slide open slowly, and Mori grabs your hand and leads you to his bedroom. Heart beating practically out of your chest, you stand in the room with your arms crossed as Mori sits down on the edge of the bed.
“Over here. Now.” You almost go to obey, but stop yourself before you speak, a teasing tone to your voice.
“What if I don’t want to go over there?” Mori’s frustrated sigh sends a chill down your spine, and he stands and approaches you slowly, and you inhale sharply, unsure what he’s going to do to you. In seconds, he has you lying over his lap, ass in the air.
“Now, now. Brats receive punishment, don’t they?” You keep your mouth shut, pressing your lips together so no sounds escape when Mori pulls up your dress and lands a harsh slap to your ass. White stars cloud your vision on the second slap, the sound of his hand hitting your bare skin echoing through the room. You can’t help the yelp that pushes through your lips when he does it again, and again, until there are angry red marks covering your ass.
“How about now, y/n? Still gonna be a little brat?” You shake your head, and a smile settles on Mori’s face.
“Good girl.” He pulls you off his lap and you straddle his waist, grinding into his clothed cock, letting out little gasps. Mori sits back and lets you please yourself, watching as you grip onto his shoulders and part your lips ever so slightly, the angelic sounds coming out of your mouth music to his ears. You can feel your wetness soaking Mori’s pants, his erection throbbing against the cloth. Core twisting into tight knots, you dig your fingers into his shoulders, feeling your orgasm coming.
“I think that’s enough.” Mori grips your waist with confidence and flips you over on the bed, and you let out a groan of discontent, crossing your arms and turning your head.
“You’re so mean.” He only chuckles, running his hand along your bare thigh, but you clench your legs together, not allowing him access to where he wants to get to. “If you’re gonna be mean, then you don’t get anything.” You can feel the aura of the man above you completely change, and you mentally facepalm yourself for saying that. You meet his gaze, a chill running down your spine when you see the predatory shine in his eyes.
“You’re going to do as I say,” he eases your dress off your form and tosses it to the ground, pushing your legs apart with his knee, “or I won’t let you cum for the entire night.” His voice is barely a whisper, yet you purse your lips together and can’t help the butterflies that erupt in your stomach. You reluctantly obey, relaxing your legs so Mori can slip his hand into your panties and stroke your clit. Arching into the mattress, white clouds your vision for a moment from the pleasure, your body still wound up from grinding on Mori’s lap.
“Ah, ah, ah. Don’t cum just yet. Not until I say so.” You let out a small whimper, tiny tears forming at the corners of your eyes and he continues to rub your clit, occasionally drifting his fingers a little lower to tease your entrance.
“So wet… you’re such a bad girl.” He shoves two of his fingers into your pussy, shushing you when you start to cry out loudly. You bite down hard on your lip, holding in as many sounds as you can while he adds another finger, searching for the spot that makes your legs shake.
“Ah!” Your hand flies to Mori’s wrist and your fingers tighten, stars clouding your vision for a moment. He raises his eyebrow with a smirk, reaching for that spot over and over again, hitting it with his fingerpads. The knotting in your core is getting too much to handle, and you desperately gasp for breath.
"M-mori m'gonna cum..." Your walls spasm around his fingers and he grins, only continuing his ministrations.
"What's that, darling? I didn't quite hear you." Your face heats up at his words and you're about to shoot a bratty comment at him, but Mori moves his fingers the slightest inside of you, pressing into your spongey walls at a new angle. Your legs immediately try to fly together, but his spare arm prevents you from doing so.
"P-please let me c-cum... please" At this point, you'd do anything to be allowed to release the suffocating tension in your core. Looking down at Mori with heavy lidded eyes and a deep flush to your cheeks, you bite down on your bottom lip to try and muffle your moans, silently begging him to grant your request.
His eyes flash for a moment and you almost miss it, but you could see the love and adoration he has of you reflected in his red eyes.
"Go ahead." His voice is like a trigger set in your body, and only through his command will you obey. Letting out an angelic gasp, you ride out your orgasm on Mori's fingers, mumbling incoherent sentences to yourself, brain already foggy. Mori meets your lips in a passionate and dominant kiss, quickly undressing and pushing you back down on the bed, knees sinking into the soft mattress.
Lifting your ass in the air to meet his hips, you balance on your forearms and grip the sheets as he drags his cock between your folds, letting out a soft groan at the stimulation on his tip. He pushes into you swiftly and your fists dig into the bed, mouth open in a silent scream. Every quick roll of his hips has you drooling for his cock, small tears running down your cheeks from how sensitive you still are.
“T-tell me who you belong to, darling.” His cock continues to abuse your hole, each one of his movements sending you to heaven and back. Loud moans spill out of your swollen lips, but you manage to let words out through your fucked out state.
“Y-you! Only y-you…ah!” Mori growls into your ear, wrapping his arms around your body, thrusts becoming sloppy as he nears his high. Your pussy is throbbing from your last two orgasms, but another approaches as the tip of his cock brushes against your sweet spot with each push of his hips.
“That’s right, you… fuck… belong to me only.” He kisses your collarbone, loving the pretty sounds and curses tumbling out of your lips as you’re completely fucked out, eyes rolling back into your head when Mori shifts his weight ever so slightly. “Cum with me, darling…” Your orgasm doesn’t give you a second to waste, the moment those words leave his mouth your body tips over into euphoria. Throwing your head back against his shoulder, your let out a loud moan, white pleasure washing over your body His thrusts stutters for a moment, and you feel his hot load shoot against your walls, and he muffles his own groans by pressing his lips into your skin.
“F-fuck, y/n.” Your body collapses onto the bed in front of him, chest heaving and eyes tired from the events of only moments ago. Your mind is still foggy, so you only vaguely process Mori gathering you in his arms and taking you into the bathroom, running a warm bath that smells like roses to clean both of you up.
You curl into the mattress, inhaling Mori’s scent in the sweater he leant you. The bed dips next to you, and a pair of strong arms wrap around your waist and pull you close to his chest. Glancing up at the clock, you see that the party’s long over, you had spent the last few hours up here in his bedroom.
"You okay, darling?" Nodding into his chest, Mori strokes your hair, kissing you on the top of your head. "Get some sleep, alright? We have a long day tomorrow."
"M'kay."

Figured I'd take my shot with a second one, Ruby's suprised when Penny brings Jaune home to have him play the role of the happy couples stud. After all it's only logical that they birth strong child and who better.
"Ahhhn~ Yes yes!"
Ruby stared awkwardly at her ceiling as she bit down the bile forming in her chest. Her eyes closed tight as she rocked back and forth on her shifting bed, hoping to ignore the sounds of delightful pleasure happening behind her. "More! More! I'm breeding ready!" Her fingers grasped tightly onto her bedding, her teeth gritting as she tried to ignore the sounds of her wife... being fucked... being rutted... being mated by one of her closest friends. The sticky squelching sounds of bodily fluids exchanging with one another, quickly threw off her concentration. And yet, she knew she had to fight back the tears.
When Penny had come to her, talking about how she'd wanted a child. Ruby had, incorrectly, assumed that she wanted to go to a donation center. She HAD NOT expected for Penny to want to be bred, and creampied. She hadn't expected her loving wife to be stuffed by a big fat cock, or having her being dicked down. She hadn't expected Penny to bring her best friend over. So when she found Jaune at her door, a bashful look on his face as he asked the question.
"Hey Ruby, Penny called me, do you know why?"
Something had been wrong... something had been VERY wrong. And she could feel it in the pit of her stomach.
So when Penny came prancing over... wearing... wearing a sheer silk nightgown... one that didn't hide ANY of her lady bits... Ruby felt her heart drop. "Friend Jaune! I'm glad you could make it!"
"Hey Penny."
Jaune's smile didn't make her feel any better.
"Penny?" Ruby turned towards her wife, "What's going on?"
"Oh! I had mentioned wanting to have a child, remember?"
Ruby of course nodded, "Well friend Jaune is here to help!" Then when Penny turned towards Jaune... a twisted smile on her face... one that exuded sexual desire... one Ruby herself had never seen before. She felt her heart crack.
"Okay but... why?"
"Oh... didn't you discuss this?" Jaune turned back to Penny. "Penny, if Ruby is uncomfortable with this I don't think I want to go through with it."
"What? What are you talking about?"
“Well Ruby!” Penny quickly turned towards her, grabbing onto her hands and pulling them towards her heart. “I was hoping that we’d have friend Jaune here to be the father of our children.” Ruby blinked, confused at first.
“But… and I’m sorry no offense Jaune.”
“None taken.”
“Why Jaune?” She didn’t mean any offense by it… in fact… well Jaune had been a long time crush of hers. She’d only never made a move on him because of how anxious she’d felt about the entire ordeal. He had been one of the first people, if not the first person other than her family to accept her for who she was. He’d always been there when she needed him, and she’d always felt safe.
She had never been sure if those feelings were that of love… or of something else. But she’d held back, especially as Weiss had ended up falling for him. And now they were married, speaking of, “Wait, what about Weiss?” Maybe she could pull the plug here and now?
“I’m right here.”
Ruby nearly jumped out of her skin at the sudden entrance of her childhood friend. “What?! Don’t suddenly do that! What are you Blake?!” She was so flustered by the sudden arrival that she didn’t even notice the dry look Weiss had bestowed upon her.
“No. But I’m already aware of the situation.”
Oh… maybe she was here to say no. “So… you’re not okay with it right?”
Weiss simply shook her head, “No, I’m not okay with it.”
“Oh thank go-”
“I love it.”
“What?”
Weiss beamed brightly as she placed her hand upon Jaune’s shoulder, ushering the taller man down so she could pull him into a deep kiss. Ruby felt her face flush hot, the public display of affection proving to be a little too much for her still naive mind. “You see Ruby.” Pulling away Weiss brought her attention back to her, “I love the idea of my Jaune here breeding other women.”
She didn’t miss the little shudder that ran through her old best friend. “Just… it's so enticing, watching him push them down, breeding them like the dirty sows they are. Filling their needy wombs with his rich virile Arc seed. Oh, you’ll both love it, I assure you.” The woman stroking her rounded belly, proof of their 8th child.
Honestly, Ruby wasn’t so sure she WOULD love it. But, she wasn’t even sure she could say no anymore, not with Weiss' sudden intervention. “Uh… Weiss what’s that?” She’d suddenly noticed the strap attached to Jaune’s shoulder, now that Weiss had brought attention to it.
“Oh, it’s a camera darling. To commemorate the event.”
Her brow crinkled in as she frowned at the sudden realization dawning on her. This… this wasn’t going to end well for her and she didn’t like it one bit.
“Now then, a few questions.” Weiss hurried them in the door, tugging Jaune along with her, who gave Ruby one last sorrowful glance.
“Have either of you ever been with a man before?”
“I have not friend Weiss!”
Penny raised her hand, a pleasant smile that would have normally caused her heart to race flashed across her face. Though now it only proved to make her feel… ill inside.
“Excellent!” Weiss clapped her hands together, “It’ll be an interesting experience.” Ruby felt her heart sink when Weiss turned her attention back towards her. “I assume you’re both alright with this then? I don’t want you to be uncomfortable after all. And I know Jaune doesn’t want you to either.”
“Yeah.” Jaune nodded, “I want this to be a fun experience for everyone involved… oh uhm… you’re not both lesbians right? I’d honestly feel bad if you were.”
Ruby WASN’T a lesbian persay. She wasn’t even sure what she was, she just liked who she liked. And at one time it HAD been Jaune, but now she loved Penny.
“No. Both Ruby and I are fine with both sexes.”
Ruby nodded meekly in response.
“Okay perfect, well I promise that Jaune will make this an experience that neither of you are going to forget.”
“Yeah.” She felt a hand press down on her shoulder, “Ruby, again, if you don’t want this please say something.”
She felt her heart swoon just a tad at Jaune’s concern. Her chest rose and fell and her face grew just a tad bit warm. Turning her attention towards Penny, she knew she COULD say yes. But seeing how happy and excited her wife was, how into this Weiss appeared to be… and… this could be her chance to get with Jaune for once… well it couldn’t be all bad?
No! It WAS FAR WORSE than she could have ever imagined.
“Oh yes! More please! More!”
Ruby sat there, silently sobbing to herself as her wife, her precious wife with whom she exchanged vows of solidarity with, was now on her back. Her hands tightly grabbing their bedding sheets as her best friend, and childhood crush, pounded her like she belonged to him.
She dared not look, the sounds of slapping flesh already being far too much for her to handle. Her lips trembled as she tried to silence out the sound, and she may have succeeded or at least she would have if Weiss hadn’t shifted closer.
“You know Ruby~” Her tone sent a terrified shiver down her spine, “I was the one that got Penny interested in this whole ordeal.”
“Wha?”
She looked up trying to say something, but found a single finger pressed against her lips. “Isn’t it amazing?” Weiss turned her attention towards Jaune and Penny, forcing Ruby to follow her line of sight.
Ruby’s heart dropped, tears began to trickle downwards as she SAW… no she could smell it, hear it, FEEL it… her beloved wife was on her back, her face… oh gods her face… it was contorted into the most twisted of pleased slutshammed faces she’d EVER seen before. “It was pretty easy getting the idea in her head, I told her it’d be easier to have a child if someone ACTUALLY bred her.” She heard, but did not see Weiss chuckle, too enraptured with the terrible scene in front of her. “It really was easy, your wife is suuuch a slut. She’s just so naive~” When she felt Weiss’ icey could fingers wrap around her shoulders she tried not to flinch. “It really didn’t have to be Jaune, I could have SO easily convinced her to sleep with ANY man.”
“B...bu...but why?” Why then? Why was this happening, why her? Why Jaune?
“Its simple~ I just LOVE seeing my husband fuck little stupid sluts silly. I mean just look at how happy Penny is.”
Ruby HATED how right Weiss was, Penny was… she was FAR happier than she’d EVER been when they had sex. “A silly little toy could never match up to the real thing… look at it… look at her stomach.”
Ruby could see it, she didn’t NEED Weiss telling her. She could see her wife’s belly inflate as Jaune’s… his cock pounded inside of her. Her stomach ballooning as he penetrated her over and over and over and over. The big meaty head of his cock skewering her so much smaller body, the thick bulb protruding through the other side.
“Penny Darling.”
“Y..yesh!?”
“Ruby wants to hear what's happening. She wants to know how much you love having my husband’s COCK inside of you.”
“Oh! OoOooKaaY!”
Ruby KNEW Penny didn’t mean anything by it, but she was just so excited. “Look Ruby! Jaune’s… oOooH hiiiiis hiiiis BIIIiIiIGG! CooOoCCCK! Itssssssszzzz! Its Puuuushiiing against MmyyyYy Ceervviviiix!”
Ruby could see it from here, the shape of her uterus forming on the outside of her skin. “HeeeEesssss hiiiiittttting mmmeeeeee soooo Sooosososooo deeeeep!”
“You want deeper though right?”
“YYyyyEeesssh pleeeeaassee!”
“Darling, can you please put her into a mating press for me?”
“Yeah!”
Jaune’s voice came out exasperated, his focus solely pushed upon her wife. Ruby was FORCED to watch as Jaune pulled on her wife’s legs, pinning them back and showing the extreme flexibility that came with the once gynoid. “WhoaooOh!” He’d pulled her legs practically behind her head, forcing his cock even deeper as he rose her lower body.
“Look at it, look at how DEEP his cock is going inside of her!” Weiss simply smiled, “You’d never be able to do that Ruby, but it’s okay.”
SMACK SMACK SMACK
His pace grew faster and faster, the bed underneath them started to shake as he unleashed sound defeaning thrust after sound defeaning thrust.
Ruby couldn’t believe it, she couldn’t take the emotional damage that she was feeling as her best friend pushed her wife into ecstasy. “Gods it feels SO good to have him inside of you. Its so amazing, I don’t think Penny will be able to have it any other way now.”
THUD THUD THUD
The bed jolted up and and down as he practically pinned her wife into her own bed. Thick juicy fluids squelched from their connected bodies. Beads of sweat staining their sheets as he practically pushed his entire body on her. Ruby could hardly see her wife anymore, but she could hear her squeals of pleasure. She could only watch as a man took her from her. She could only silently regret her decisions. And still why did it have to be this way, for Weiss’ sick pleasures?
“You know.” She flinched as Weiss’ hand fell upon the pit of her belly, rubbing gentle circles above her womb. “It doesn’t have to be this way.” Ruby gave her a betrayed look, scrunching her face together. “We really DID come here to help you two have fun~ And… well I’m sure Penny would LOVE if you both got pregnant together~”
Ruby meant to open her mouth, “After all, it’s not fair, now is it? Just letting Penny have all the fun?”
Ruby bit her lip, turning her attention as Jaune pulled up onto his legs, squating down on her wife and slamming his cock one last time into her depths. She could SEE his balls inflating, she could SEE the pulsing of her stomach as the bulge of his cock quite literally throbbed. She could see her wife’s belly inflating in front of her, “See?”
Weiss turned her attention back to Penny.
“Penny describe what’s happening.
“MmmNnn~♥ Fri...Fri… Ma...Mate…Br...bree...breeder J...Jaaauuune iiiisss filling My… my wooomb, with Prec...precious life giiiving seed! I can FEEL my ovaries drinking the… the preciiious fluiiids! I… I’m… I’m breeding ready!”
Ruby felt Weiss release her, shifting over towards Penny. “Oh Darling, you’re going to be JUST the most gorgeous pregnant woman.” Ruby watched Weiss run her finger over the outline of her wife’s uterus, tracing the very shape with a single soft touch. “Mmmn~ I can’t WAIT to see you nice and full. I bet you’ll have twins AT LEAST.” Weiss of course turned her attention back towards her husband, “I bet you can’t wait right? You LOVE it when women get pregnant with your children, you’re just raring to go again, right?”
Ruby turned her attention to Jaune, who had been mostly quiet this entire time. Surely he wouldn’t betray her? He’d been hesitant from the start after all! “Yeah… it’s REALLY hot... and…” No. “We should go again, I can dump a few more loads inside of her, just to make sure she’s nice and knocked up.”
“Yes please!”
“Perfect.”
Time seemed to still as Ruby did something she truly didn’t expect of herself, “STOP!”
All eyes turned to her as she flushed red, one that ran down the length of her unclothed body. “I… I…” She grit her teeth, “I’m next!”
“Perfect~”
Little did Ruby know, but she’d fallen into Weiss’ Trap, one she’d never be able to escape from.

________
You wanted to slap yourself. What the hell was wrong with you today? Why did you tell Peter that?!
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean...” Completely baffled with you behavior, you were deeply ashamed, unable to look the guy in the eyes and wanting nothing but fall into the earth.
“Ah, I got it. It’s Steve, isn’t it?” All of a sudden, Peter let out an irritated sigh, rolling his eyes skywards and rubbing his neck. “Of course, who else would say such nonsense. Blackmail, really? Funny he didn’t call me a stalker or anything.”
“Listen, I didn’t mean it, I’m really-”
“It’s ok.” He closed the locker, slamming its door loudly and making you jump. “It’s not your fault. If I heard that from somebody, I’d be scared too.”
He spent a couple of seconds staring into the wall until he rubbed his neck again tiredly and huffed. It took him less than a minute to regain his composure, and you heard him murmuring, “What a freak.”
He didn't return to the corridor, heading to the sports hall for his PE class, instead moving to the bench in the locker room and motioning you to sit. Feeling terribly awkward, you hoped he wasn't going to do anything out of anger, even though he had every right to be upset at your stupid behavior.
"About what he said," Peter took a deep breath, "it's nothing like that. I don't dig up some nasty stuff in the web to blackmail people. I've never done it. The reason why Mr. I-am-better-than-you said that is because I've made him take me into his little bodyguard group when I heard him talking to Loki. You're nice, and I wanted to help. Of course, Steve started acting like I was some creep, so he refused, and I had to remind him that, technically, he had to report your issue to the administration, not play a hero. I said that if I go and tell the whole story to the dean, Steve's gonna be in trouble because he knew who thieves were and didn't report them."
It was a loud off your mind. Goodness. Rogers called this a blackmail? Really? Just because Peter pushed Steve into taking him into their group?
You were less and less sure Rogers was sane. You definitely had to be careful around him.
"I can't believe he called it a blackmail." You admitted quietly, and the guy sent you a tired smile. "Peter, I'm so, so sorry. It was so stupid of me."
"Nah, don't worry. I'd freak out too if I didn't know the whole story."
You knew your apologies weren't enough, but you hoped Peter didn't take it to heart - if you can take such an accusation easily, that is. Shit, shit, shit, why did you believe everything these guys were saying? You didn't even know them in the first place! Why on Earth did you go asking them their opinions on others if all of them were biased, and every guy could twist the truth the way he liked? You shouldn't have let their words affect you that much.
"Whatever. At least now you know what Rogers is like." Peter sent you a grim smile and got up, picking his bright yellow sackpack from the floor. "Shit, I gotta go if I don't wanna be late. Let's meet in a library later, alright?"
"O-of course." You hurriedly stood up and left the lockers room after him, turning to the library: your Lit class was cancelled, so you decided to go study right away. At this time, the library was usually full, and you felt safe there.
Your thoughts were all about the guys again even when you were staring at your laptop, trying to focus on Excel numbers. Why did you feel like the atmosphere between them was so dense? If they were at such terms with each other, why did they group together to help you? What, because all of them loved you so much? It was ridiculous. There was something else to it, and you didn't know. You had a feeling no one was going to tell you the truth until you figured it all out by yourself.
Weird. It was all so weird. Steve's plan, their behavior, the relationships between them, and your nagging feeling they all were hiding something. Was it them who were actually following you?
The thought scared you to the point you started shivering. Oh shit.
"Hi there," the guy appeared behind your back so suddenly you almost jumped, looking at him wide-eyed, "sorry, did I startle you?"
"H-hi Jake! No, it's ok, I was just... studying." Both of you were talking in hushed voices, knowing the librarian would kick you out immediately if she heard some noise. "How are you?"
"I'm great, how're you?" You could hear concern in his voice: he was one of Thor's friends you met yesterday, and although you spoke briefly, Thor definitely told him more about you. "You look a bit worried."
"Oh, it's Math, I didn't really understand the topic, and we're having an exam on Monday... guess I'll be studying the whole weekend." You gave him your best smile to reassure you were totally ok, and the guy relaxed a little, smiling at you, too.
"I'm sure you'll pass. Thor said you're very smart."
What, he said that to all of them? Was he simply boasting about his girlfriend to his friends or was there something more to it?
"You're too kind. Thank you."
His smile grew wider, and he landed on the next seat to yours, resting his hands on the table. Apparently, there was something he wanted to talk to you about, and you grew uneasy.
"Listen, about these incidents... Thor told us all about it, so if you see any freaks following you around, you can message any of us, and we'll come right away." Looking at his serious expression, his bushy brows furrowed, you hoped he eas being sincere with you: you had enough with people you could no longer trust. "And also... that kid, if he's giving you troubles or anything, just let me know, and I'll tell him to keep his hands to himself"
Oh, he was talking about Peter, wasn't he? He had probably seen that silly photo. Wow, you though, Peter was totally right about Instagram: it was the best news source in the academy.
Thanking him for his concern, you laughed a little, convincing him there was nothing serious except for the theft and promising to tell him if anything weird would be going on. While it should have made you feel safer, in fact, you only grew more frustrated with this situation. You wanted to forget about these freaks and just spend you day like any normal student would, but everywhere you went people were staring at you as if you had a horn; one boyfriend or the other was always close to protect you from some unknown danger, and although you believed they tried to help, you hated the feeling they were hiding something from you. Why did you have to be going through all this? Wasn't it really better to drop off school, spend a year working and then apply to a better place?
Thinking of the faces your parents would make once you returned home, you realized it wasn't. This school with all those creeps wasn't worse than home that never felt like a safe place you wanted to come back to. Besides, all money you saved up until now were only good for buying food and things like that: you'd never afford to rent a decent place unless you found a well-paid job. It meant staying with your parents, and it wouldn't be much better than here, just different. If you wanted to drop off, you had to find a good place to stay.
Well, you could at least try, right?
When Peter met you in the library, the two of you no longer talked about anything important, simply studying together to prepare for the exams next week. It didn't feel off: from time to time you met his gaze, and the both of you smiled. You were thankful he didn’t talk about Steve or other guys or that weirdo in the lockers room.
Once you returned home, you went straight to bed, completely exhausted. Luckily, you did much more than yesterday, so you could rest now, but then you thought of Thor kissing you and bit down the pillow, angry at yourself. Why did you keep thinking of him right now?
______________
When you woke up the next morning, you felt like something was off: your body ached, your throat hurt, and your headache was only making it worse. Dammit, you caught a cold, probably. And that’s when it was finally the day to meet Steve, the guy you thought was a mastermind behind all these manipulations that were making you sick to the core.
Anyway, it’s not like a mere cold would prevent you from doing everything you had planned. You left your bed and went to the bathroom, moving the dresser before again.
Honestly, it felt terrible. It was definitely because of that flimsy dress you wore to school yesterday when the weather was becoming chilly. Argh. Watching your puffy eyes and swollen nose, you sneezed. Today you had to apply way more makeup to look decently.
Steve showed up earlier than either Thor or Peter: you had to skip your breakfast, hoping to buy something cheap in the cafeteria.
“Good morning.” He said with his everyday polite expression that soon shifted into a concerned one. “Are you alright?”
What, was it that bad? You did your absolute best to apply enough makeup and do your hair. Did you still look so sick?
“Good morning. Yes, I’m ok, just feeling a little sleepy.” You yawned on purpose, covering your mouth with your hand, and Steve’s face softened.
“Did you study all night?”
“Yep, exams are driving me a little crazy.”
“I understand. I also stayed late last night.”
Of course, the student council president studying all days long to be number one student in the academy. If you didn’t know of his twisted nature, you’d think he was the most typical nerd.
You spent most of the time either in silence or talking about studies, the academy, and everything related to it. Steve acted like a gentleman and a scholar, albeit a little too demonstratively. Walking with you as if he were a king of the place, he constantly replied to greetings of others, waved to his acquaintances and smiled. You felt so off you wanted to find Loki and walk with him: unlike Steve, he was considered unpleasant by the prevailing majority of students.
“Are you sure you’re going to be alright?” America golden boy asked you for the last time, and you forced yourself to smile.
“Of course. Thanks for coming, see you later, Steve.”
As he finally left you in peace, you almost fell down into your chair, your fever only getting worse despite the fact you took some painkillers. It was going to be a long day.

A/N: I'm not saying I'm incapable of writing an angsty ending for a Fred Weasley story, but I'd rather not do that, so here comes a stupid story that occurred to me this morning, enjoy <3

"Y/l/n!" I sighed. "Is it true?"
"Your mom is into divination?" George question made me throw my head back in desperation as both twins made their way through the Great Hall to meet me.
I knew that day would be a bumpy one the moment we entered in the Divination classroom. The fact that a muggleborn aced a new subject since class one was strange.
I knew I would have to give some explanation to my friends after. Ron was particularly shocked by the fact that my muggle mother had taught me —against my will, may I say— lots of Divination-related things. I knew Ron, being Ron, would surely tell every soul that would listen about his discovery, but I had hoped for him to wait until the third period at least.
"Secrets spread like wildfire here." I said.
"Are you secretly a soothsayer?"
"Yes, Fred. You see, I have the Sight." I ironically stated, and, seeing this as a perfect opportunity to get closer to the boy I fancied, I added "Want me to read your palm?"
They shared an amused look, fully aware that I was joking. Even in the Wizarding World, divination wasn't something to believe in.
There were supposed to be people able to see the future, such as professor Trelawney, but no student had seen her predict a thing, so she wasn't the best example.
George was the first one to sit down. "Predict my future, oh, you who were gifted with the Sight." I snorted as he laid his palm before my eyes.
I picked his hand on mines, "Hmm..." Fred hovering over my form from behind wasn't ideal for me to concentrate. "Okay so..." I felt one of his hands toying with the clasp of my necklace, brushing my nape. "Will you stop touching my necklace and sit down?" I demanded.
"Yeah Fred, sit down." George reprimanded his brother. "She's trying to see my future." I heard Fred chuntering before he plopped down on my other side, leaning on a tad too close for my liking. "Alright, fortuneteller, is there a love line?"
Of course he would ask about that. "Let's see..." I traced said line, unable to remember to the T what my mom had tried to teach me. "So, the heart line is arched... Which means..."
"That you can't tell a thing?" I slapped Fred's arm.
"Which means he's balanced." I corrected him. "You're able to realize when you need to take care of yourself, and when you should let a someone in." George seemed invested. "You'll have just one serious partner, but they'll be the right one."
"Well, that doesn't sound half bad, huh?" He looked at me with a content smile.
"My turn." Fred spoke, smacking his brother's hand away and replacing it with his left one. "The line of life or whatever." He scooted a bit closer and I felt my heartbeat pick up. "What's my fate?"
"Are you left-handed, Fred?" I questioned with an eyebrow raised, already knowing the answer. "I need your dominant hand." Oh well, that came out wrong.
"Straightforward, are we?" George snorted at his brother's remark as he exchanged hands, turning to straddle the bench to be more comfortable. "Alright, what do you see?" He had leaned on to the point where he only needed to tilt his head down a couple of inches to rest it on my shoulder.
"A hand." I deadpanned, which earned a playful push from him. "Okay, okay— I see..." A puzzled frown took over my gaze. "Wait—" I turned to George. "gimme your hand."
"What?" Fred questioned, shifting his position ever so slightly.
"Uhm..." The frown grew bigger, and I had to remind myself what I was doing was a joke. "You... don't have a lifeline?" I dubiously informed. "I mean— it sorta... Starts? but then it fades away." I widened my eyes and froze, remembering what that meant.
I saw Fred tilting his head slightly. "Is it so bad that you won't tell me what it means?" He asked jokingly in order to lighten my distraught mood.
"It— well, it means that you'll die at a young age." My eyes met his and, despite the amused smile that always danced on his lips, fear slipped out of his orbs now, too.
"Wait what?" George propped himself on his forearms to see his brother's palm. "Can't be. Check mine?"
"I just did, you git." George wasn't even smiling. Maybe he did believe it. "Yours is fine."
The three of us stayed in silence for an instant. Even if none of us believed in divination, the fact that Fred had no lifeline was rather unsettling.
"It's fine." I cleared my throat, turning to my bag and leaving Fred's hand over the table on the process. "Apart from seeing the future, I can fix lifelines." They looked at each other when they saw me grab a sharpie. "Don't move." I demanded, holding down Fred's right hand before tracing a black line where the lifeline was supposed to be. "There. A long, healthy life."
When I looked back at the twins' faces, I saw them ready to laugh. Distress had already left them, and that helped my own evaporate.
"Merlin, Y/n!" Fred dramatically exclaimed. "You've just saved my life!"
"She sure did." George agreed, patting my back.
"Now go and tell Ron to shut up." I didn't want to imagine what would happen if people started to believe I could actually predict their future; the twins were sceptic and even they had somehow fallen for it.
I was so focused on George getting up that I didn't even notice Fred's hand flipping and wrapping around mine.
A soft kiss was placed on my cheek and I felt my face heating up even before meeting Fred's proud grin. "Figured I'd give my savior something in repay." His eyes seemed to flicker to my lips for a second; it's just my imagination, I thought, unaware of Fred's thumb caressing the back of my hand until he removed it in order to stand up.
Four Years Later
FRED'S P. O. V.
One second I was laughing at Percy's joke, and the next one everything was black; not only visually, everything was pitch black in every fucking sense.
I heard nothing, I couldn't touch anything, my voice was gone.
My mind was completely blank, until a thought slipped in my brain: 'you'll die at a young age'.
My head was spiralling now. I was dead. That's what death felt like? Nothing?
Y/n's words kept going on and on, frying my brain. How ironic it was that the voice I would have forever in my mind belonged to the girl I had been in love with since I was fourteen, and the words were what we thought to be her silly prediction.
I had no idea how long it had been, but suddenly I felt it; a tear running down my cheek. A flaming hot tear, burning its way off my face. Then I felt something else, some sort of rope wrapping tight around my right hand and wrist, so tight that it made my pulse speed up.
My pulse.
It dawned on me that my heart was beating fast against my chest. It was beating.
I needed to breathe.
"FRED!" Someone forced my eyes open; It was Percy. I couldn't see him right away because the lights were blinding to my eyes, but I recognised his voice. "FRED SAY SOMETHING!"
"Y/n..." I couldn't hear my own voice, but I felt her name going through my vocal cords.
"HE'S ALIVE!" Ron cried. "you're alive-" my sight was blurry but I could pick out my younger brother's crown in front of me as he sobbed over my chest.
"We gotta get him out of here right now!!" Of course it was Hermione who got everyone moving. As both my brothers managed to pick me up, I felt my eyes closing once more. Not even the fear of not waking up again stopped me from passing out.
READER'S P. O. V.
I had volunteered as Healer to help Madam Pomfrey during the Battle, that's why it was me who received two Weasleys practically dragging a third one into the improvised infirmary.
I recognised him from his jacket. "Fred..." At first I thought it was his corpse, that's how bad he looked.
"Y/N!!" It was only when Fred seemed to tilt his head up due to Ron's cry that I reacted, rushing to help them. "Keep him alive!" I only nodded, taking Ron's place as he took off.
With one of his arms over my shoulders and the other over his brother's, we managed to carry him to one of the stretchers; his painful weak groans went directly into my ear as we moved him, triggering the tears I was holding to fall.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
FRED'S P. O. V.
"—alive, somehow." Y/n's voice, though it sounded far away, let me know she was close. "No, don't wake him up."
"Listen, you gotta get him to St. Mungo." It seemed George the one talking, but his voice was too shaky to tell. "in an hour this is gonna get really ugly, I want him out."
"George, we're besieged." Her tone was hopeless.
"Look at him, You said it— It's a bloody miracle he's still breathing." my brother's voice shattered; all I wanted was to get up, hug him and say I was okay, but I felt my brain spinning once more. "Bill and I will escort you out of the castle so..."
~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next time I opened my eyes, terror inundated me; everything was dark again. I gasped for air and propped myself up, instantly regretting it. A stabbing pain attacked every part of my body, triggering a shocked cry out of me.
"What are you doing?!" Y/n whisper-shouted, before placing both her hands over my chest to push me back to the bed again. "Are you mental?" Her fingertips moved out of the way a bandage that covered my eyes. "Oi, listen," when she noticed my shaky hands desperately trying to reach my face, she took them in hers. "You're safe."
I tried to say something —anything—, but my throat was sore, and the only thing that was able to leave it was her name.
"Shhh." She hushed me, letting one of her hands travel to my face. "You have to rest." I would have sworn she was crying, but I couldn't tell. "Everything'll get better." Her thumb stroking my cheek was the most soothing thing I had ever felt, so it wasn't difficult for me to close my eyes, this time willingly, though I was equally scared. "I'll stay by your side." The reassuring squeeze her hand gave me, made me aware that she had noticed my fear.
Before drifting off, I felt Y/n's lips placing a chaste kiss on my forehead, making my heart hammer against my chest.
I was still alive.
A Month Later
READER'S P. O. V.
It was Ron who sent me an owl the moment Fred finally got out of the hospital. He informed me that, instead of going to the Burrow to rest a few days—as planned—, ha had gone straight to the shop.
That's how I found myself the next morning inside Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, which was not-so-surprisingly full of people again.
Due to the huge amount of customers, it was relatively difficult for me to spot the twins.
Apparently, I turned out to be easy to spot.
"Y/n!" I turned in the stairs' direction to be met with a very enthusiastic George who, before I could even greet him, engulfed me in a hug.
"I see you can't catch a break." I observed, pulling away with a big smile on my face. That place really made the trick to bring joy to everyone.
"You can't imagine." He replied, his gaze wandering around before pulling my hand. "Oi, Fred! Look who dropped by!" He shouted over the hubbub, leading me to the till counter, behind which I saw the reason why I had come in the first place.
Just as Fred's eyes noticed me, he attempted to rush out of the till. I left George's side as soon as I realized that he, in fact, couldn't really rush out.
"Merlin's beard!" Despite he had just had to grip the counter in order not to fall, he tried again. "Take it easy, will you?" I scolded him, steadying him by his forearms and helping him step back to rest against the till. "Do you want to go back to the hospital?"
"If you're the one taking care of me, I wouldn't complain." The first time his eyes fell on my lips, I missed it because I was still securing him. The second time it was impossible to miss. "You know? Your sharpie saved my life."
I snorted at his nonsensical words. "You're delirious, Weasley." My hands finally left his forearms, just to be picked up on his. "Still suffering from the concussion?" I joked, trying to deviate my own attention from my fast heartbeat.
Another glance at my lips.
"I should get going." George spoke behind me.
"I was going to visit you tomorrow." Fred stated, his gaze now focused on my eyes.
"Sorry to break it to you, love," I pointed out, motioning at him with our hands still held. "But you can barely walk."
"Yeah, but I needed to see you." He looked somehow sheepish; I doubted I had ever seen him like that before. "I'm gonna be as clear and concise as possible—" He cleared his throat and forced himself to look at me. "I'm pretty much in love with you." I didn't know my eye could go as wide as they went. "Thing's I've known for a good couple of years now." He shrugged. "Telling you scared me, but then this happened." He gestured at himself. "And now not being able to tell you scares me even more." His eyes scanned me before looking around. "This wasn't the ideal place to tell you, but I didn't want to wait any longer."
I gulped, trying to process it as fast as possible.
"For Godric's sake, Y/n," he gently tugged my hand. "Say something, please." Fear started to take over him, even if he tried to keep it at bay. "It's alright if you don't feel the same, we can still be friends, I promise—"
"How do I kiss you without hurting you?" I questioned, already feeling the heat on my cheeks.
I could tell by his face that, out of everything I could have said, he was not expecting the answer I had given him. "Ever the caring one." He let go of my hands to cup my cheeks. "Just kiss me," he sounded so happy, it was contagious. "I'll deal with the pain later."
I listened to him and, holding onto his blazer, stood on my tiptoes and crashed my lips against his— only because I had been wanting to kiss him for too fucking long.
I got lost in the kiss and my brain completely dismissed that an entire wall had collapsed over the boy before me just a month ago; my hands went up to his neck, pulling him closer and, consequently, earning a painful groan from him.
"Shit! sorry." I was quick to let go, suddenly very aware of our surroundings, too.
He just shook his head and pulled my back to him, this time by my hips. "I said I'll deal with it later." He spoke against my lips before going in for a second kiss.
I was more gentle now, careful not to cause him too much pain.
To our dismay, we were interrupted.
"You said love confession!" George snapped us out of it; this time the groan Fred let out was from annoyance. "not snogging session in front of our customers! Get to work!"
He huffed, unwillingly separating from me. "If you stick around until lunch time, we can resume this."
I pretended to think about it. "I guess I can find something to do until then." My smile was as wide as his, and it grew wider when he pulled my into a hug, placing a kiss on the crown of my head. "I love you too, by the way."
His laugh reverberated on his chest. "Good to know."
"Freddie! Now!" This time it was me who groaned at George's demands.
"Help me out, love." Fred requested, pulling away from me so I could help him move behind the till counter. "See you in a couple of hours?" I nodded, pecking his cheeks and walking away from the shop.
It was when I started to walk down the Diagon Alley that it clicked.
His lifeline.
The sharpie.
"OH MY FUCK—"

“My King,” Okoye called, handing T’Challa a bag he forgot. “Next week.”
“ I know Okoye. I promise I will be ready to leave.” Okoye nodded before reboarding the jet. The king watched before beginning the short walk up to his friend's front door.
He rang the doorbell before staring up at the building. It’d been years since he’d last been in this apartment. Freshman year of college to be exact. Anaya’s parents had invited him to spend Thanksgiving with them after finding him and their daughter studying together on a surprise visit to their daughter's dorm. They weren’t in the room, lucky for them, but it seemed that her parents were invested in a dream that wouldn’t come true. Not that either of them was ready to admit they couldn’t be together either. At least that early on.
So much has changed since then. They graduated. Got two Ph. Ds respectively and then moved on. Anaya became a celebrated fashion historian and critic, and T’Challa a king. Halfway across the world, they’d reconnected by chance in Paris and hadn’t let go since. Somewhere T’Challa had been holding on to a silly notion that maybe he and Anaya could give being together another go, but he knew it was a fruitless endeavor.
Same as his ringing of the doorbell had been. Worried, the king began knocking on the door. “Quit your racket! She’s not here!” An elderly woman crooned from her front porch. “Pardon?”
“She ain’t here! The baby called.” The woman chuckled to herself, “Ran outta here like a firecracker. Her two friends following close behind.”
“She was pregnant?”
“Don’t know how you missed it sonny, big as a blimp, carrying high though. My bets on a girl you know,” she paused to size up the young king. “And you must be that no good bastard baby’s father. Walking out on her like that you know I should-!”
“Ma’am, I promise you I am not him. As much as I wish I could have been,” the king mumbled the last part.
“Well then now’s your chance son. The real father ain’t here, and I hate to see that child grow up without a father figure. What’s keeping you from claiming that child?”
“A lot more than you’ll ever know..” T’Challa looked up, despair written across his face. The woman's gaze softened. “You’ll never know till you try. At least go and see her. I mean you came to her house. All dressed up with flowers and a bag of gifts. You must really care for her.”
“I do.”
“She’s at the university hospital.” The old woman instructed. “Thank you,” the king nodded. “Anything to see her happy, ever since her parents died she’s been sitting up in that house all alone. Make it right.”
Two hours and four phone calls later, T’Challa pulled up to the hospital in his hired car. The driver opened the back door of the SUV to allow the king and his baby present out into the air. He nodded at the driver before making his way up to the reception desk. “Hi, how may I help you?” The woman looked up from her computer. “You must be looking for our maternity ward. This your first?” She nodded at the gifts. “You could say that,” T’Challa chuckled.
“May I have your name and the patient’s?”
“T’Challa, and Anaya Johnson.”
“Great, Ms. Johnson is in room 408 in the maternity wing. Go down the hall, on the left, there will be an elevator. Take that up to the fourth floor, make a right and it should be the fourth door down. You can’t miss it.”
“Thank you,” the king smiled hoisting up the big teddy bear, careful not to crush the flowers and various other bags. “Would you like an escort Mr. T’Challa?”
“I believe I can handle this one,” The king insisted. “Very well, and congratulations.”
The king frowned. “Thank you.”
Four floors up, and three doors down, T’Challa finally stood outside of room 408. He took several steadying breaths before knocking. “Who is it? A familiar voice called. He heard footsteps on the other side of the door before it carefully creaked open.
“T’Challa?”
The king smiled in surprise. “Tella? Hi.”
“Hey, what are you doing here?” The brown skin woman beamed, opening up the door, her eyes widening slightly as she saw all of the gifts.”She said she hadn’t heard from you in months.”
“Yeah, I was on my way to visit Anaya and her neighbor told me she was here, having a baby.”
“Yeah, um come in. She and Jean went for a walk, the doctor said it would help with contractions.” Tella grabbed the bear from T’Challa and moved to set it in a corner, while he found space to set down his other gifts. “So how’ve you been? We used to get status updates from Anaya for you. Then you just vanished.”
“Well, there is a lot I haven’t told you all. Wakanda is a monarchy, and my father, and his father, and his father, and his mother, and her father, and his mother, and so on, have all ruled our country. Now it is my turn.”
“To rule?”
“To rule.” The king nodded. “So you vanished because you became king?”
“I vanished because there was a coup, an attempt on my life, which was almost successful. The coup sent my country into a civil war,” The king explained.
“T’Challa, this doesn’t even sound real,” Tella interrupted. “I mean, how is anyone supposed to believe you?”
“May I see your phone?” T’Challa stopped her.
“T’Challa,”
“Just let me prove it to you. I did not ghost Anaya by choice. I still want to be with her.”
“After all this time-”
“Please, I know it seems implausible, but let me show you,” the king reached out a hand.
“Fine T’Challa-” Tella handed over her phone. “Ask siri,” the king instructed.
“Seriously?” Tella frowned. “Just ask her.”
“Siri, who is the king of Wakanda?”
Her phone glowed before responding, “T’Challa Udaku was crowned King of Wakanda after the passing of his father last summer during a United Nations Assembly. I found this article online from the New York Times and several other sources.”
“T’challa if this is true, I mean since this is true, the prospects of you and Anaya getting together is now even more impossible. Why are you here?”
“Because she is my friend, and I love her. She is having a baby, and I will support her.”
“You are not its father!”
“Don’t you think I know that? Do you know how much it hurts me to know that I’m not? That I may never be the father of any of her children.”
“This isn’t about you T.”
“I know, but the child’s father is not here. I am. Even if he was, I still would be, because she is my friend too Tella.”
“I just do not want to see her hurt. Don’t give her false hope T’Challa.”
“On the contrary, I believe it is she who gives me false hope,” the king sighed. Tella pulled him in for a hug. “Just give it time, and who knows, you’re a king now aren’t you?”
“That I am,” T’Challa nodded as the room’s door squeaked open. A nurse helped Anaya back into the room and T'Challa couldn’t help the way his eyes widened at Anaya’s pregnant form. His heart erupted in butterflies, imagining if that had been his child. Tella slapping his arm startled him back to reality. Tella jerked her head towards where the nurse was trying to help Anaya and maneuver the IV stand back into the room with her. T’Challa hurried over to wrap an arm around Anaya’s waist and grab her other hand. The nurse smiled in thanks and surprise. No surprise could top Anaya’s expression. She gaped as T’Challa shot her a smile. “Long time no see,” The king teased as he helped her further into the room and onto her bed. A grimace stole her smile as another contraction hit.
“I’ll grab Dr.Ben and she’ll be right in to check on your progress, Ms. Johnson.” The middle-aged black woman smiled at the expecting mother. “Thank you,” Anaya smiled before turning back to her best friend. “What are you doing here?”
“I came to surprise you, only to find out from your neighbor that you were in labor,” The king smiled.
“Mrs. Patterson told you where I was?”
“I guess so,” the king frowned. Anaya and Tella laughed. “What did you do to her? Mrs. Patterson doesn’t like anyone. Especially men.” Tella explained.
“She did almost try to beat me up when she thought I was your ‘bastard baby’s father’.” T’Challa told the two women who groaned. Anaya grimaced her way through a contraction and T’Challa stepped over and offered her his hand. The mother smiled at his touch and threaded her fingers through his as the contraction dissipated.
“I’m gonna go find Jean in the gift shop,” Tella excused herself, leaving T’Challa and Anaya alone. “What’s been going on with you King T’Challa,” Anaya teased as she tried to push herself into a seated position.
“Nothing much. The world of politics cooled off for a while and I wanted to apologize for being awol these past months.” T’Challa helped rearrange the pillows so she could sit up. “What about you soon to be umama?”
“Well, this has been my life pretty much, still don’t know how I’m going to manage working at museums and shows towing this one around.”
“Where’s the father?” T’Challa asked softly. A tear formed in Anaya’s eye, “He doesn’t want to be involved. We were drunk that night and you know..”
“You don’t have to explain,” T’Challa squeezed her hand. “Thanks,” she murmured. “What are you having?” The king inquired, sweeping some box braids back over her shoulder. “I don’t know. I wanted to be surprised.”
“Your neighbor thinks it’s a girl,” T’Challa laughed. “She’s been telling me about me carrying high since it became visible I was pregnant.” Anaya laughed. “I guess we’ll find out today or tomorrow.” T’Challa chuckled. His face quickly fell as she slipped into another contraction. He tried to help her breathe the way he’d seen on television but ended up making her laugh. “You’re really bad at this,” Anaya reclined back onto her pillows rubbing her stomach absentmindedly. “Thanks for the vote of confidence,” T’Challa smiled. “It’s two quick ones and long out. Not in out in out,” Anaya explained. “I’ll do better next time,” T’Challa promised.
“How long are you visiting, you don’t have to stay. It could be another day or so before I give birth.”
“I’m here for the week, until next Tuesday. And Anaya I want to stay. Besides, I can give Tells and Tonya-Jean a break to walk around.”
“Thanks,” the pregnant mother smiled. Her face contorted as another contraction washed over her. “There you go,” T’Challa soothed as she squeezed his hand. He helped her breathe through and eventually, she settled back. “At this rate, it’ll only be a couple of hours until they’re here with us,” the mom to be sighed. “Then I’ll be here as long as you’ll let me be here,” T’Challa kissed the back of her hand. Sweat had gathered on her forehead and he reached for something to dab it away. “I want you here as long as you can be, distract me.”
“Why? You are not enjoying the miracle of life.”
“Says the man not currently pushing a baby out of his body.”
“Fair enough,” he raised his unoccupied arm in surrender. “Tell me about Wakanda and being a king,” Anaya asked, groaning through another contraction.
“Well,” T’Challa started.
Eight hours later, the room was silent. Tonya and Tells had gone home to catch up on sleep. Anaya was sleeping off her exhaustion and the king of Wakanda sat rocking a sleeping baby girl. Well, she was sleeping. Sydney Iesha Johnson’s big brown eyes fluttered open and stared at the man holding her. She stretched out her tiny body and T’Challa’s heart soared at the feeling of her moving around in the swaddle.
“Hi pretty girl,” he whispered. “Hi,” he cooed, smiling as she yawned. “You are so beautiful, just like your mommy. She was the most beautiful girl in the world and now she’s tied with you.” He rocked the infant softly. “T’Challa?” Anaya croaked. “Hey,” the king stood up and walked the baby over to her mother. “She was fussy in the crib, and the nurse suggested I hold her, I hope you don’t mind,” he rambled. Anaya laid a hand on his arm and shook her head. “It’s fine. I love seeing you with her.
“You know I’m here for you right? Both of you now,” the king searched her eyes. “I know I’m not her father, and I’ll never try to be that for her, but she’s a part of you and that makes her important to me.”
Anaya teared up and nodded.
“I want you to move to Wakanda.”

Day 9, a horror piece starring a favorite animated character
I had to have my friend play a weird version of mash with me to figure out who to choose because my list of potential favorites was too long, but we landed on something I could work with, so enjoy lol.
"Come on! Come on! Are you serious?" Mic slapped the dash repeatedly, causing the plastic cat mounted above the radio to bounce.
"Hey cut that out nimrod," I swatted his hand away and adjusted my little ornament so it was level again, it's little black tail returning to its swaying rhythm as the car bumped along.
"Shoto, you know I can't do a road trip without any tunes. What am I supposed to do for the next five hours???"
I sighed, massaging the bridge of my nose as he spun dials and pushed buttons madly.
"I don't know, maybe sit quietly and read the map while I focus on the road?"
"siT qUiEtLy???" He shouted as if I had just insulted his mother.
"Yeah. It's two o'clock in the morning and we've been working like dogs all day," I swatted his jamming fingers out of the way and pushed a dial. Immediately the cacophony of static cut to silence and Mic slumped in his seat. A broken man.
"Today was awful Shoto. We didn't find the victims, we didn't learn any clues, and we didn't catch the bad guy. All that work for nothing and now your crappy stereo just kicks it five minutes into the drive home???" He placed both feet on the dash and threw his chair back dramatically, groaning.
"Put your seatbelt on! Good lord get a grip or this going to be a long drive."
"It's not my fault I'm fussy."
Once again, I sighed. The dark scene of tree lined highway in front of me stretched on and on in the headlights glow. The canopy was so thick and reaching that not a pinpoint of night sky was visible above their interlocking branches. Out the side windows lines of dark tree trunks spanned infinitely onward into the dark. Under different circumstances I wouldn't mind the scenery, but Mic was right unfortunately. It had been a bad day, and I was so tired. A full day of dealing with stuck-up pro hero detectives with something to prove. An entire 20 hours of investigation, picking through a brutally gruesome crime scene, looking at photos of victims and how they were found, having to tell distraught families that their loved one were still missing. All of that work and still nothing.
I sighed and tapped my fingers on the wheel, shaking my head. It would be another full day tomorrow. Bright and early, we'd report back to that little village inn and be in the thick of it. Honestly we shouldn’t even have been there.
"Hey Mic," I started, "do you think they still nee-"
"WOAH SNAP OUT OF IT!"
Out of nowhere Mic grabbed the wheel and jerked, sending the car swerving towards the slopimg ditch. The car tipped sideways as we straddled the road and the hill as I pulled back, yanking it from his hands and mounting the road again in chaos as gravel spattered the undercarriage and the car bounced.
"What the hell mic!!" I screamed. My heart beating so hard it felt like it was going to punch out of my teeth.
"You almost just drifted us off the road!" Mic yelled defensively.
"No i didn't! I was literally just driving straight- you scared the crap out of me!"
"If you're tired just pull over! Stop trying to be noble!"
"I'm not tired, you're insane!"
"YES," Mic shouted, his quirk sending his voice out in warbling notes, "I AM INSANE, BUT I AM ALSO ALIVE AND I'D LIKE TO STAY THAT WAY!"
"FINE!"
I slammed on the breaks and the car skid along the gravel until coming to a halt in a cloud of dust.
I unbuckled aggressively, fed up, and opened the door.
"Come on man-"
"Swap with me."
"Dont be pissed-off,"
"I AM PISSED OFF! MIC!" I threw my hands up in defeat.
"I'm pissed off at the commission for not getting heroes out here before things went to shit, even though the signs were there! I'm pissed that after a full day of investigating, we didn't find a single lead on who slaughtered those people! I'm pissed that there are victims still missing and nobody in that forsaken little village trusts us! I'm pissed that you just grabbed my wheel and tried to kill us! And I'm pissed-" I jabbed at the buttons on my pathetic outdated car stereo- "that my stupid old car is a piece of junk and now we have to drive in silence!"
Mic sat still while I fumed, not speaking, not turning to me. Finally I gave up and opened my car door, stepping out into the night.
I crossed infront of the car, my legs casting long shadows through the headlights that put up a wall of light in the swirling dust- so thick I couldn't see two feet infront of me.
I made it to mics window and rapped my fingers knuckle on the glass.
He reached down and spun the lever awkwardly like a dork, cracking it a few inches.
"Listen-" I started, but he cut me off.
"Aizawa, it's been a long day." He didnt look at me, just stared out the windshield at the towering obscured trees.
"We shouldn't have been called to this case. We're still new, this is our first homicide, and really only you have a quirk that could have been of any use… today sucked… but you gotta let it go man. We are not going to win every day. It's part of the job."
"I know I just,"
"You worked really hard today and I can tell you were getting frustrated… taking on too much… it's good that you care, but you can't burn out now… we only just started. So relax?"
For the third time that night-or the fourth, honestly I was losing count- I sighed.
"I'm sorry, I'm just- I am just really tired. And frustrated."
"I know youre frustrated," he teased, "you don't usually shout unless you're real messed up. Usually you just grumble and whine."
"Oh shut up, I'll relax okay... You still okay to drive?"
Mic turned and smiled at me through his cracked window, "of course my dude!"
He cranked the window shut and I gave a dry chuckle at the stupid way he moved.
He stepped out and I slid behind him into the passenger seat, flopping down and buckling before leaning my seat back and closing my eyes, kneading them with my palms. They were so dry. I had used my quirk all day while questioning witnesses at the scene. Maybe Mic was right, maybe I was tired… but still… I would have noticed if I had dozed off…
Speaking of which,
"Mic! Let's go!" I called from inside the car. It had been long enough, it wasn't a big car, it's not like he could have gotten lost between the passenger's side and the drivers?
Well… it was Mic.
"Eeeerugh!" I groaned and lifted my seat back to its upright position, "Come on!"
I froze, blinking as my eyes adjusted to the light and tried to make sense of what i was seeing.
Mic was standing five feet infront of the car with his back to me, his golden hair illuminated in the old yellow light. He was in the middle of the road, waving his arms and shaking his head. Talking, but to who? Suddenly I heard his voice grow louder, he was using his quirk.
"What the?" I went to unbuckle but in the corner of my vision I caught something so fast I couldn't make any sense of it. Mic was there one moment, and the next  I was just staring at empty clouds of dust swirling where he had once stood.
"MIC!"
I ripped my seatbelt off and yanked on the handle. Locked. I pulled the small locking node by the window and tried again, but the door didn't respond. It was like someone had engaged the child-lock. Had Mic done this? Was this some sick joke?
"Youre not funny!" I groaned as I felt my heart begin to beat faster,
"We need to get home and feed the cats or they're going to destroy our curtains! Get your ass back to the car, we gotta go!"
The dust began to clear out front as I continued to fiddle with the door, yanking the handle and pulling on the buttons. Finally I gave up and grabbed the window lever, but then I stopped when I suddenly registered something.
I let go of the window and slowly raised my hand to my scarf, feeling it react subtly to my touch. Turning slowly to my left, careful not to be reactive, I looked to the driver's side to see something sitting in the car beside me. It was sitting rigid, perfect posture with neck twisted to stare right at me. It's ragged lips parted violently up to gumms, revealing a twisted smile of horribly crowded tiny teeth, reflecting in the light, only out-shined by its lidless eyes that bore directly into mine.
I didn't move, I couldn't move, all I could do was stare at the hundreds of bunched and crowded teeth with gums caked in red. Red like the spatters of blood at the walls of the crime scene we had left not 10 minutes ago. And then I remembered the victims, the bodies- seventeen of them carried out in zipped black body bags after being discovered with no injuries except for mouths torn to shreds, missing every tooth from their skull.
A cold sweat erupted down my body as I sat locked in a staring match with the thing. I realized my quirk was active and buzzing, and it felt like I was trying to melt it's face off with my horrified glare.
"How did you get in here?" I asked, buying time, desperately trying to formulate a plan.
"What did you do with Mic?"
The humanoid did not answer, but it's teeth began to part slowly, sounds of spittle and separating moist flesh permitted the silence of the car as it moved slowly, unhinging its jaw and growing wider and wider.
"This isnt a quirk," I realized, leaning back as it began to inch closer, my eyes burning and boring into him, trying to stop the slow horror from unfolding.
It was inches from my face when without warning, the headlights of the car flickered off and the engine rattled to death and finally silence. The glow died instantly, replaced by pitch darkness that pressed in around us from all sides. I could still make out the whites of the round and lidless eyes, the glinting of tooth and molar, now inches from my face.
"What the hell are you!?" I choked, suddenly hit with the putrid stench. I squeezed my scarf but it did not move, and through the dark and silence the creature finally answered...
I hope you liked this! This is actually my first time in like, my whole life of writing, that I've ever done a fanfic. Let me know if you want a proper story and ending cuz I have one in mind :)

♡ reblogs are appreciated ♡
Tumblr media
okkotsu yuuta is not an early bird.
he doesn't like getting up before the sun, but he learned to love it when he once watched it rise with you. he doesn't like cold showers in the morning, but he's willing to take them to be presentable for you. he doesn't like alarms, but he's willing to make as many as he can to wake up with you.
yuuta is not an early bird, but at 5 in the morning, fully-dressed and awake, he's in front of an old convenience store, six feet away from where you sat down.
reluctant to call out your name, his gaze and shoulders heavy with unnecessary guilt.
he eventually greets you.
"good morning," he tells you at 5:16 a.m.
his voice is raspy, possibly from how it's only been 53 minutes since he woke up.
you don't mind it anyways; you've gotten used to hearing its soft whispers of "good morning" whenever he comes by your place to pick you up, or the lighthearted bursts of laughter when he finds himself in a stupid situation, or how he leans into your ear to tell you how wonderful you look when it's too crowded and you're struck with unpleasant thoughts.
it takes you minutes to reply, hesitant and distracted with thoughts wondering why he was here even if it had been you that called him over last night.
he figures you haven't noticed him yet, so he takes three steps towards you.
one for each year you both spent calling and finding home in each other.
the first year, when you first ask him to go stargazing with you even though there were barely even stars at night with how bright the city is.
the second year, when he's not-so-shy to let you know about how he carries an extra scarf from fall until spring because he's memorized your forgetfulness.
the third year, when things start to fall apart, but you're both still able to mend it back together. (or pretend that it's fixed.)
and the fourth—
"you really came, huh," your voice is low and almost inaudible except for the pained chuckle at the end of your sentence.
full of regret, your head hangs low. maybe it wasn't a good idea to have invited him.
he was stupid to have actually come anyway.
and honestly, he didn't want to come had it been someone else that invited him out at morning.
but it's you who invited him, and he's never been able to say no to you. not when he doesn't like seeing you disappointed.
"of course," he lowers his gaze to the ground, unable to look at you without feeling his head and chest ache every second. "you know i'd never flake out on you."
—then why was there never a fourth year?
something stings your eyes and blur your vision for a moment.
they're gone when you blink, leaving behind a wet trail down your cheek that was quick to dry when the breeze passes you by.
a sore, forced laugh leaves your lips, followed by a cough that has him rushing to your side and patting your back gently while worried eyes watch over you for every second that passed by.
"are you okay?" despite his hoarse and harsh-sounding voice, his tone is sweet and mellow, dipped in genuine concern, rough hands handling you delicately.
everything's silent other than your cough resonating in the empty parking lot and his soft pats on your back ringing in your ears. it remains empty aside from the two of you.
too bad it wasn't open for 24 hours so that there would be a few vehicles around or aisles for you to hide behind and then you wouldn't have to face him.
that's what you've always done though.
run away from reality and its problems.
it's time for you to face it again.
"sorry," you cough into your elbow. "yeah, i'm fine."
yuta knows about how often you lie about your condition, so he asks one more time in hopes of getting an honest answer.
a nod is all he gets. he doesn't question you again.
he wants to though.
he wants to ask if you're okay and if you two can try again.
still, he doesn't because he knows that he's going to get both a 'yes' and a 'no', and he knows which answer belonged to which question.
backing away from you, he sits when he deems the distance between you two not too far nor too close. you're more than a hand's reach, and that's enough for him. he wants to be closer, but to have you around is already enough for him.
it's already 5:28.
time passes too quickly.
despite wanting to cherish the moment, sit in silence and hopefully, peace as well, he stops his stalling and questions your need to see him in the morning when there's so much more time left on the clock.
as he's fulfilled your desire to meet him, you fulfill his of basking in the stillness of the world—with you.
you, and not someone else.
you, because you're the one he wants to have around.
you, because he—
—loves you.
he loves you, and not someone else, because he can't see himself with anyone else other than you.
(and he'll keep on loving you, even if you tell him to stop for his sake and yours.)
"do you still remember?" you mumble in your folded arms on your knees. "when we first met."
of course he does. it was somewhat unusual and unforgettable aside from the fact that the place you're both at right now is where you two met.
a cold, lonely dawn spent at an empty parking lot of a convenience store. two kids feeling empty and drained until he decided to strike up a conversation with you, wondering why you were there when you could ask him the same. neither of you judged each other about it though, understanding one another regardless being in different situations.
that's when you both got on the same vehicle and drove to a road that led to now.
it was like any other roadtrip, fun yet tiring, but neither of you realized that when everything was romanticized since the moment you two got on. it really was stupid of you two to think that meeting at a convenience store was romantic because it's not.
it really was stupid of you to ignore the warning signs.
"yeah," scratching his nape, he tilts his head to get a glimpse of your face, but he only sees your back. "we danced around even though there wasn't any music playing."
"it was dumb," you turn away from him as if you were going to get the urge remake the mistakes you made then if you saw his undeniably pretty features.
"it was fun though," a shy, embarrassed smile tugs at his lips. he hopes you're smiling too.
"wanna do it again?"
this was dumber.
though you're not going to make the same mistakes again. this was the end already, after all. there's no more mistakes to be made when there's no choices to be made.
the deep inhale of the cold air stings your lungs as you finally face him for the first time today, standing up and holding a hand out to him.
he swallows the last bit of hesitance that was preventing him from taking your hand, then starts to pull you into him.
"still no music?" one of his hands run to your waist.
you answer him as he's about to intertwine his other with yours by taking out your phone and a slow, gloomy melody begins to play. it echoes in the empty space lightly when you settle it on the cold cement floor.
no comments were made about the choice of music. his hand rests on your waist while yours on his shoulder, the others laced together.
for a moment, you're both back to the start.
dwelling in the glum atmosphere, savoring each other's company.
still unable to look each other in the eye so you two opt for the ground or anywhere other than the eyes or face. stiffly and awkwardly swaying, feet pausing every few seconds in doubt, choosing which steps to take because it's not used to dancing.
bathing in the lowlight of mornings that turn into something better because that's what you two are good at: romanticizing the hopeless and the unromantic.
"i wanted to have a last dance with you," you mutter, afraid he hears it. "that's why."
with the little space between your bodies, he does hear it. like your first meeting, he doesn't judge you for it. he likes dancing with you anyways.
"it doesn't have to be the last one," he wishes to say but it remains as a thought, the lack of courage not allowing him to use his voice. knowing he's going to regret doing so later, he still keeps them to himself.
so instead, he says something else.
"we can always dance again, if you'd like."
fuck.
that's even worse. (is it?)
on his shoulder, he feels your fingers claw at him. he wasn't supposed to say that. at least he doesn't mind it, but maybe you do.
you said it yourself, this was the last. maybe you said that because you didn't want to anymore, he overthinks.
with closed eyes, your fingers loosen up on the cotton material, relaxing and exhaling slowly through your nose.
"that's—" he tenses up at your voice.
"that's cool."
did he hear you right?
"i don't mind dancing with you again but," the corner of your lips curl up, a burning sensation in your lungs when you inhale the cold morning air and finish your sentence. "someone might."
someone, meaning the person you see himself with in your stead. the person whom you're convinced is better than you. the person whom you're convinced is more fitting for him, unlike you.
your eyes meet, and he can see through you.
you always lied about how you felt, until now.
it's all obvious with the way your voice stutters, eyes falter, and hands tremble; with how you avoid his gaze as much as you can because it's become unbearable to look at him without having your heart be spared from being torn into little pieces.
yuuta's done beating around the bushes. biting his lip, his hands squeeze your waist and hand, his gaze shaky.
"you didn't have to end this."
having enough of it, too much for him to contain, he bursts into tears and lays his head on your shoulder, shuddering and holding onto you tightly, as if that was ever going to stop you from letting go.
"it was better for the both of us."
the music gets drowned out by his choked sobs, the sky growing a little brighter than before each minute.
the sun rises slowly and lights up the dark corners of the world, and there's nothing you can do but watch another day begin again.
there's nothing you can do to stop yuuta crying.
there was nothing you could do to stop yourself from falling out of love.
(and even if you could prevent it, the road was always going to lead here.)
and as your shoulder gets soaked in tears, while you softly tug at the black tufts of his hair, you remember that there never was a fourth year because you—your insecurities—cut it off before he could. (because he never would, and neither would you.)
at your reply, he wonders why he even came here in the first place. was it because he was hopeful that you'd take him back again? (definitely.)
it's too early for this, and okkotsu yuuta is not an early bird.
he doesn't like getting up before the sun, but today, he did just for you. he doesn't like cold showers in the morning, but today, he took them to be presentable for you. he doesn't like alarms, but last night, he made as many as he could to make sure he doesn't wake up late and make you wait for nothing.
yuuta is not an early bird, so he faces the consequences of being left.
(while he's busy facing his consequences, you're facing yours: having to wake up knowing he's someone else's because of you.)
(you never wanted to leave, but it was better than to have him abandon you.)
(even if he never was going to.)

The story... Of my precious one.
So, I was knocking around ebay and I see a listing pop up for an 'Allan Tracey " action figure. Meh, thinks I, it'll just be the carton one from 2000's...but I click... And audibly gasp, like full out" my fucking Gods!" scream.
Because I know that face anywhere, and that ain't no Alan... THAT'S JOHN BITCH!
Tumblr media
He's lost the tip of his nose, he's wearing what might be either a sack or a sock... We aren't quite sure.
I show him to the girls and @misssquidtracy proclaims him to be hideous and haunting her when she closes her eyes... @olliepig says he has a flipper for a foot... I squeaked a protest because I was already in love by this point, totally and utterly in love with this gorgeous beast. @inertplanetary went awww because she's supportive. Not like those other two cow bags... Anyway....
I slap a bid in quicker than I would slap the next person that tells me Gerry hated John.
For six days I watch, I lurk, I pray to every Thundergod up there, because damn do I deserve some luck right now. So I pray, I pray with everything I have inside. I pray that people will be put off by the sack, that they will think he is ugly too, that they will miss him because he's misspelt and mislabelled. I want him more than anything in the world...
You see, I know my shit, I've done my research, and I know that they DO NOT make John stuff very often, either they make a full set or they make Scott, Virgil and Alan, you never get Gordon or John, and I was fully aware that in recent times there had been no John action figure made, which meant... Original from the 60's yo! So I tracked that sucker down...
Tumblr media
Made by Fairylite, limited production run, genuine 60s and I was determined to get him.
I'd stuck on 99p and it didn't move at all. Twenty minutes before the end and I was sweating, like heart palpitations, anxiety attack for days, because I hate bidding on things, hate it. This little voice in my head, the one I always listen to says "up your bid" I'm like, but no one else is here... But I do it anyway, throw in £25 as a starter.
And I wait...
I have a minute to go and I literally cannot look, I'm laying on the couch with my big chief John sat on my shoulder like a gorgeous blue parrot and the cat staring at me. My eyes are covered... Kid had control of the stereo and for some reason best known to itself her Spotify takes that moment to throw up "Phantom of the Opera" dun... Dun dun dun dundun... I scream at her to get rid coz that's not helping my anxiety... She scrambles... Finds soothing 5sos apparently.
Eyes still covered... I peek... 25seconds to go. Close eyes again...
I feel my phone vibrate at 15 seconds, that means I got outbid.
I almost start to cry. It finishes. I opened my eyes....
Some bastard had tried to outbid me in the last seconds but aimed too low and I got him!!
Tumblr media
Baby was coming home!
I was an anxious mess until my lovely postie handed me a box five days later...
Tumblr media
He looked like a mummified body... The sack didn't help. But my gods he was gorgeous!! Just the most amazing nose missing, slightly crossed eyed, fading at the temples boy I had ever seen!
I quickly order him something more dignified and it arrived today
I get the scissors and prepare him...
Strip tease... Oh mmmmmyyyyyy @selene-tempest I'm sorry about this...
Tumblr media
Cover ya bits baby, this is a family house... Cat is trying to help but its not Virgil so she doesn't really care, he's the only one she's got a crush on. She doesn't mind Scott but she does not care for Alan.
Tumblr media
JOHN'S SPACESUIT TIGHT!
It won't go over his peachy ass! I had to wrestle this bad boy on.
Tumblr media
Baby too thicc... He got muscles for days...
Look at those pecs...
Tumblr media
And he's on the John shelf!!!
Edit: I wanted to have him sitting next to Big Chief John but the suit is so tight he can't bend, coz he muscle man. So until I get him more wardrobe items he's standing like Bond in the background.
Also his flipper feet are too big for the shoes that came with it. So he barefoot.
It was a saga, it was a battle that I valiantly and willingly fought... And he's mine! I'm in love.

Tumblr media
When you sat down next to the blonde you immediately sensed that he tensed. You didn’t like how the things between you turned out to be so awkward. You two were never like that. And now you were scared to say a word to him. Suddenly texting seemed more appealing so you took out your phone again and started typing. You noticed Harrison glancing at you as if he tried to see if you are in a good mood for taking up this conversation. He didn’t want to be noisy and check who you’re texting so he quickly shifted his head to the slides that were displayed by your professor. However, he looked down at his phone when he felt it vibrate just to see that he got a message from you. Frowning, he touched the icon of your contact and read your message.
From Y/N:
Want to go out for a drink with me?
You watched him looking through the text anxiously, hoping that he didn’t get the wrong idea. You wanted to make things right, not only because you hated having unfinished business with people but also because you liked him and his company. Another thing was that he was Tom’s friend. You wouldn’t want him to feel bad about your misunderstanding with his best friend. When you opened your mouth to add something, Harrison turned to you with a lovely little smile. When he nodded some loose curls fell on his face making you smile in return and laugh inside. You didn’t miss the light in his eyes when you moved your hand slightly to put his hair back in its place just as you did with Tom. This time, however, you stopped midway and a crimson flush crept into your face. The blonde’s smile turned into a smirk when he caught up to your actions and before you could do something he moved a little closer to you to give you a chance to brush the messy curls out of his face. But instead of that, you slapped him on the arm and sank deeper into your seat what brought a laugh out of Harrison. He thought that you were adorable in your shyness and he definitely enjoyed making you flustered. The simple gesture made you hope that maybe nothing is lost yet. You just had to apologise and assure him that what had happened was just an accident. It would be easy, wouldn’t it?
After your lecture and interaction with Harrison, you felt a lot lighter. Your mind was at peace again and you could enjoy yourself knowing that everything will be alright between Harrison and you. When you got home the first thing you did was to lay down on a sofa. With a smile on your face, you stretched your body and closed your eyes. This moment of silence was what you needed after all these hours of anxiety and stress. Breathing deeply you slowly started to drift to sleep when the sound of the door opening brought you back to reality.
“I just got the best news EVER,” very excited Tom marched through the door with an enormous smile on his face. Noticing you laying on the sofa he stopped dead in his tracks hoping that he didn’t wake you. Looking up, you had to laugh at his wild eyes gaze, and tensed figure. You stood up to greet your best friend opening your arms for him. Tom smiled widely and embraced you in a tight hug but his strength and force made you lose your balance and collapse back on the couch. Brunette landed on top of you and you yelped in surprise. You could feel his weight on you but for some reason, it didn’t bother you at all. Actually, you found it really nice to be able to enjoy the way his muscles flexed when he tried to steady himself not to crush you. For anyone who walked through the door, the scene would seem unpleasant but you were comfortable feeling the heat radiating from his body. Every since you two started hanging out, a feeling of comfort and mutual understanding was created. With Tom things were always easy, you didn’t argue much and on top of that, it was really hard for awkwardness in your relationship. You loved him for his incredible ability to turn bad situations into good ones and brush everything off with laughter. Yet, this time you haven’t heard him giggling or saying some playful words to make you blush. You moved your head to look him in the eyes and this time you saw something you’ve never seen before. His gaze studied your face patiently, not missing any spot on your skin. His mouth was slightly agape as he tried to find the right words to say but your beauty was so mesmerising he couldn’t tear his eyes away from you. Your bodies were so close that you could feel his shallow breath on your face and you started wondering why was he so nervous out of a sudden. Little did you know that Tom has realised something at that moment. He realised he couldn’t find any flaw in you despite watching you the whole time. He realised that you make him the happiest and that he would never be the same without you. And most importantly, Tom realised that he could never make you as happy as he wished to. He has always made sure you were doing alright and that you knew he was there but he couldn’t force himself to love you. He tried, he really tried to develop some feelings. He would lay in bed at night thinking about you and what is wrong with him that he can’t love such an amazing person. Tom never believed in soulmates but he truly thought you had his heart and soul. When you were gone, he always felt like there was something missing. A puzzle that combines his messy lifestyle with his fucked up mind. You always had the right things to say to make him feel better and he never felt like you were judging him. He truly found someone with a pure heart and soul that is right for him and understands him without words. But if you weren’t the right one, where were they? Truthfully, Tom was tired of being alone. He wanted someone to love him and he wanted someone to love. You were there for him but somehow it wasn’t enough. He lacked the feeling of crazy love. He wanted it to consume him and intoxicate all his senses. He wanted to be in a daze that would make him do all the cheesy stuff his friends would tease him about but he wouldn’t care because of the happiness. It killed him that it wasn’t you. He knew that, all too well, but he didn’t stop being close to you. He wouldn’t dare to even try and lose you. At that moment he knew that he would take up every fight to keep you by his side even if it meant to hurt himself because despite all that you were his home and he needed you to breathe. You were his safe zone and if he couldn’t have you by fate, he would have you by choice.
As the seconds passed by your heart started to beat more quickly anticipating his next move. The way Tom was looking at you made you forget how to breathe. All you could do was stare at his beautiful honey brown eyes sparkling in the yellow light of the lamp standing on the table. Finally, after what felt like hours, Tom whispered "I got the job," seemingly getting out of his thoughts but you saw that he was still trying to figure something out in his head.
"This.. this is amazing, Tom," you replied not paying much attention to what he was talking about since all you could do was drool over him.
"Yeah, I'm going to the USA," he laughed like he couldn't believe he got the part but still didn't move one bit. Tom's body was towering over you making it hard for you to focus on his words.
"Mhmm.. I'm proud of you, Tommy," the nickname quickened his heartbeat as he always got warm inside when you called him that. He thought the nickname was childish but he always melted when it came out of your mouth. He wanted to kiss your forehead as an act of thanking you but you suddenly yawned.
"I'm sorry that I woke you up. I was just excited," his pretty smile was replaced by a pout when he remembered the state he found you in. You took his face in your hands and giggled at his cuteness.
"I was just falling asleep, don't worry," you answered truthfully, not wanting him to feel bad for disturbing your peace.
"Are you still sleepy? We can lay down if you want," Tom proposed, concerned about your lack of sleep out of nowhere.
"Well, I'd say we're already laying down..." hesitation was evident in your voice almost as you were worried to bring up the topic. The look on Tom's face shifted quickly after he registered your words and looked down between your bodies. That was when he felt his crutch touching yours and a wave of embarrassment mixed with lust washed over him. He must have got lost in daydreaming about you not to notice that he was basically crunching you. He was surprised you could even breathe in this state. "But.. I-I don't mind..." your words eased his panic but didn't help the blood coming south.
In the trance, you moved your fingers along his smooth skin hoping that would calm him down. You weren't sure what you were doing but you enjoyed this little moment and didn't want it to end. Tracing the shape of his nose you licked your lips what made Tom close his eyes and exhale deeply.
"We need to stop or I'll do something we will both regret," when the words left his mouth you stopped your movement but kept your hands on his face. Tom was scared to open his eyes. He feared for your reaction. A few seconds passed by while you tried to find the right words. Were you surprised? Yes. But you couldn't fight the smile that crept on your face and the butterflies erupting in your stomach. Although, you weren't sure how you felt about what you've just heard you needed to feel him. It may be wrong but you wanted it.
"What if I don't mind?" you said softly just millimeters from his lips. Tom finally opened his eyes at your confession and you could see the confusion painted on his face.
"I-I-I.... Look um..." this was the first time you've seen your best friend so nervous that he couldn't get the words out. He seemed to be really troubled but he finally gave in resting his own hand on your cheek. "W-what does this mean for u-us?" he couldn't help but ask. Tom didn't want you to think that he was just taking advantage out of the situation. He needed to know your point of view on this because he didn't want to hurt you in any way and this was a dangerous field.
"I don't know but I really want this" your words made the brunette's eyes darken. Licking his lips for the last time, he moved your head closer to him and brushed his lips against yours in a sweet but passionate kiss. Your lips were moving softly in sync as if you kissed for the millionth time. You were making out for a good few minutes until the taste of him was so intoxicating you forgot how to breathe and had to pull out for a second to catch some air. Your break didn't last long because Tom pulled you back in taking advantage of your parted lips and pushed his tongue in. You moaned at the action and the sound made Tom thrust his hips against yours. At that moment you felt something poking your thigh. You didn't want to stop your make-out session but you knew you weren't ready to go further yet so you patted his chest softly to signal him that you wanted to stop. Tom pulled out slowly trying to see if he hurt you in any way. "I'm alright," noticing his worried gaze you assured him that there was nothing bad happening. "I'm just umm... not ready for t-the next s-step," suddenly you got anxious hoping that you didn't say anything wrong to make him upset.
"Oh.." was all he said, not fully realising what you were trying to hint on.
"I mean... you know," you looked down at his bulge hoping that he would understand your clue.
"OH!" he followed your gaze and finally caught up to what you meant. "Noo, don't worry about it. We um.. we don't have to go further if you don't want to," Tom tried to make you comfortable but he couldn't hide the flush on his cheeks that was a result of his embarrassment. He didn't know why he felt so awkward out of a sudden. You, on the other hand, felt more confused than awkward. You had to figure out your own feelings towards your best friend but you couldn't lie to yourself and say that you didn't enjoy it because that was probably the most amazing kiss you've ever had.
"Thank you," you didn't really register your words but it seemed that neither did Tom because he started to get up and fixing his clothes and hair. You only watched him, not wanting to move.
"Do you regret it?" Tom asked in a small voice noticing your absent look. He didn't know how to feel about the situation too. He allowed himself to let loose this one time and he just hoped it didn't destroy your friendship.
"Do you regret it?"
"I asked you first."
"Trying to be smart, Holland?" he genuinely smiled at your remark because then he knew that nothing has changed. You wouldn't joke with him if you were mad or upset.
Taking a deep breath, you got up and turned to face Tom. "I don't regret it. Do you?" he let go of a deep breath he didn't even know that was holding and shook his head. "That's... good." you summed up the situation making Tom burst out laughing. "What's so funny?"
"You are so weird," you faked an offended look at what he added "But so am I. That makes us a good match."
You nodded your head because maybe he was right. Maybe you two were a good match.
After the incident, things started to get more intense between you and Tom. You didn’t know if it was your imagination or if he made it his mission to frustrate you even more by caressing you while you were falling asleep or casually holding your hand when going on walks. Whatever it was, it rendered you warm inside. You couldn’t fight your butterflies and stop yourself by slowly falling for your best friend. Subconsciously, you hoped you two would end up together, his family loving you and all your friends saying how you make a good match. However, it didn’t seem as he had any intentions to make the first move. Even though Tom was very touchy with you, he never asked you out or even brought up the subject of the relationship. It was even more confusing because he wasn’t messing around with anyone nor he had any female friends he was interested in. You knew because as your relationship with Harrison started progressing you found yourself gushing to him about Tom. Harrison always tried to assure you that Tom liked you too and after many days of contemplating you decided to talk with him about your feelings. You were even more nervous because he was supposed to leave for the USA for his new job in a couple of days. You weren’t sure where this conversation would leave your relation but the fear wasn’t that strong to stop you from confessing your admiration for him.
Tom invited you to his get-away party so that was when you wanted to talk to him. His family wanted to say a proper goodbye before he would leave for long months that’s why they all came to celebrate his success. You were one of the first few people who has come so you helped around the kitchen and talked a bit to Tom’s brothers. You’ve known these people for so long that at this point you treated them like your own family. You had fun talking with Tom’s grandparents and playing with the youngest members of the family. Tom was watching you from the kitchen with a smile on his face as you were humming Baby shark with children. He loved that you felt so comfortable around his family and that they’ve basically accepted you as their own child. His parents would even ask him about you sometimes, hoping that there was something more between you. He always brushed them off saying that you two were just friends because that was the truth. Even though no one questioned your friendship, everyone knew that it wasn’t just Tom who was coming over, it was always Tom and Y/N. When his parents wanted to invite you for dinner or a nice family gathering they would just tell Tom to pass you the invitation. Everyone treated you two as one because they knew that your bond was special and Tom’s family has never seen him happier than when he was with you. They were grateful that he had someone in his life who kept him grounded. “She’s the one, mate,” is what his brothers keep telling Tom. He would just smile mysteriously because it wasn’t true but he didn’t want to let anyones’ hopes down.
When the children ran away you giggled and glanced at the room to spot someone you could talk to. That was when you noticed Tom at the foot of the stairs who was talking to Harrison. He must have sensed you looking at him because he turned his head directly to you. The action made you smile and you started to make your way to take up a conversation with the boys. After finally scrambling through the crowd, you stood eye to eye with Tom who took your hand and led you to his room. You didn’t know where Harrison went but you guessed that Tom wanted to talk to you about something important. Otherwise, why would he take you to his room giving air to Harrison?
