i know earlier you were asked what your *favorite* fish was but do you have any fish that uou just really hate. just a really bad fish?
hmm I cant say that I do. I certainly dislike invasive species of fish like the asian carp and the sea lamprey, but I only dislike them being where they are negatively impacting ecosystems. like I actually really like sea lamprey, just not in canada.
and as for the asian carp. its literally not even their fault! in the 70s they were having issues keeping algal blooms under control and it was messing up stuff for wastewater treatment plants which was a huge issue. so they got the bright idea to take the asian carp to north america and introduce them into the ecosystem so that they could eat the algae, since that is their main diet. naturally the overabundance of food caused them begin their own little baby boom, and start to out compete other fish in the area. and by the time they realised they had fucked up the asian carp had already spread to multiple different areas.
I honestly don't think I'm capable of hating a species of fish, like they all do their own thing and have their own merit. some of them are kinda fugly but I think that adds to their charm. like take the bump head parrot fish, theyre ugly for sure but they're also an important part of the reef ecosystem. heres pic to prove the ugliness, they kinda look like if the nerd emoji had a goose egg.
(theyre also endangered in the south pacific thanks to overfishing)
but yeah my point is that I dont have a most hated fish, not even the sunfish despite their objective uselessness. thanks for asking tho lol!
#kinda went on a tangent there sorry#i do however have a most hated plant#that being the dreaded invasive species of phragmites which are a blight upon my country#everytime i see one i get the urge to kill it#but theyre sooo hard to kill which so why i hate them sm#like u could use a herbicide that u can buy at a store#but itd be bad for the surrounding plants#u could use another herbicide (only with permission from the government) but that ones even worse like nothing would grow there for years#u could try and pull them but they are so sharp at the sides that you would have to use some pretty heavy duty gloves#so thats like super tough physically#or u could burn them in a controlled fire but that can also mess up the ecosystem worse than just leaving the phragmites be#plus its hard to actually fully kill them cuz of their root system#its like gigantic which is how they swipe water and nutrients away from other plants#so itd be hard to pull it all out or burn it all#i hate them with all my being#oh look another tangent#oops#g3n3s1s-l0v3#ask#fish
