#i hate ship wars for a myriad of obvious reasons (annoying. who the fuck cares get a job. ur so mean for no reason)#BUT also bc im now overly cautious#like this when im literally just talking abt. yk. using characters as a narrative tool. aka the things all characters are literally#made to do.#like it genuinely does come from a place of love for all three characters and the narratives as a whole

anyways to me its like.

elymei is so compelling to me bc its about grief and thus 1. elysia HAS to die 2. mei has to already be struggling w grief

the fact that elysia and kiana are similar–

mothers named cecilia/celia, technically not supposed to exist in this world, both playing similar roles in mei's arc as beams of light helping her deal with grief and accepting the loss half of love, both being representative of the old kevin and his ideals, both being the reasons why mei joined/left WS

–is pivitol to why i think elysia slots in nicely in mei's arc!!! i think mei sees kiana in elysia in a way. the fact that mei internalizes this idea that no matter what, you will always be linked with your loved ones through elysia is soooo important to her. remember this is a girl who's entire life has been characterized by loneliness!!!

and i dont think elysia could've been replaced w kiana bc i genuinely think elysia already being dead and being someone that mei's never known is so important for mei.

also. ok touching on a bit of why elymei works for me on elysias side. BUT ELYSIA HAS TO DIE ITS LITERALLY HER FATE FOREVER. like not evenn just lore reasons i just also think the flame chasers sims dying is important since it both 1. gives mei and kevin sm to grieve for/let go of and 2. symbolizes this death of the previous era as the current era is truly entering their prime. <- also why i think eden being the last flame chaser sim to die is soooooo important to me.

there is no end game available for elymei!!! bc its never meant to be an endgame thing!!!! its narratives only truly suit a transitional period to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
