Through the collective effort of over 64 ARTISTS doing their own parts, and after two months, it is complete.

Till this day, it never fails to surprise me how the biggest of events seem to always get started through the smallest of jokes...

This has happened multiple times already throughout the limited history of the Tumblr Narratorverse/Paraverse.

History of Lazarius and Kross

(The Complete Post here)

Lazarius would peer down at the single piece of parchment that was presented to him. It was from Verzatea. He knew exactly what it was. He knew that she must have salvaged it from the Estate while he was in Uldum with his sister, Zalra, Maliscia and the Headmaster. A time when his focuses were completely drawn on the Forge and making it.

“You bitch. . .” he said softly looking down at the box that was sitting next to the parchment with a wide grin on his face, clearly this was as loving a name as he could give her.

Lazarius recalled the day he met the lady Duskflame. Poeta De’Mour; his Grand Magus, marching up with the golden haired child who could have barely been breaking adulthood. Her optimism quickly crumbled when the Inquisitor scoffed at her attempts to impress. She was average, and barely able to hold a conversation. Pathetic he though.

“What is it, Ser?” Kross; his faithful steward and oldest friend would quarry.

“Something I did not suspect she knew enough about to remember.” Lazarius responded as he skimmed the tag. “Something I knew you would be unable to part with. . .”

“We are fearless, We are strong, We are Nine.” it read, he remembered saying that to her when they’d raised the Bastille. Oh those long months alone wandering the permafrost trying to find those cursed entrances to Azjol Nerub. For a long time the two of them shared a bedroll, camping night after night, attempting to rebuild a fallen order.

Opening the box, Lazarius would see that it was the skull. But not just any skull. No this skull was very important to him. She knew; very precisely, where to look and how to find it. Lazarius only showed her one single time and there was never another word spoken of it again. Lazarius slowly slid the box toward the spectral gilnean as his white eyes drifted from his master, to his Mistress.

“Raelyndia. . .” the withered old man spoke as his words were ripped from his throat like pulling a weed by its root.

The former Mistress of the Nine, her skull perfectly preserved for all these years. She peered back up at the old man and his charge as the two of them stood close together looking down at it.

“I had some inkling that you had recovered this. . .” Kross said softly as if fighting off tears of his own, though sadly the spirit was unable. “How did she. .”

“Know?” Lazarius continued as he finished his sentence. “I had kept it safe for you for a very long time. We recovered this when she and I raised the Bastille from its own grave. There was never a part of me that had been so bold as to wish to keep something from you friend. . . but my intention was to recover your body one day Kross.”

The withered old man looked to his master. The boy who’d grown into a prince, and went on to serve as a hand to his own Mistress, defying odds to reign supreme over this order. He saw the child he cared for, and adored as his own. He saw the man who was offering him so much more.

“When your time comes old man. And you are able to rest, I wish to lay you beside our Mistress. It felt appropriate for you both to sleep eternally together.” Lazarius placed an dark lambskin glove along the pleated coat of the elder. There was an embrace but only briefly.

“Master. . .” Kross had said softly.

Lazarius didn’t need to say a word. He could see it clearly that the old man was not only proud, but painfully blissful as well. No other cared for the spirit like he did. Yes there were nods and gestures. The order and council knew that he was loyal and would happily accept his sagely wisdom, but only Lazarius seemed to break through his defenses like this. And rightfully so, they had been together for over two centuries. Kross smiled, not something often seen.

“You honor my memory, Ser.” continued the steward. His white eyes blinking several times as they moved from his former love, to his current master.

“Our time together Kross, all we have been through . . . everything we have seen.” Lazarius chuckled and squeezed the old man tightly. “Do you remember when I returned from Nyalotha-”

“No you did not go to Nyalotha.” Kross quickly snapped and looked back at the Inquisitor. “We aren’t sure where you went.”

Lazarius couldnt help but laugh. Oh that debate went on for years. “Yes yes yes but do you remember afterward?”

“I remember having to hold you down on an operating table with Abbigael and saw through your breastbone to remove the cursed creature devouring your heart. . .yes, if that is what you are referring to.” Kross hardly remember the memory as a fond thing.

“Oh yes I know you playing doctor was not one of your shining moments . . . but you did save my life.” Lazarius responded as he tried to break through the old man’s gruffness. “You helped me then, and even years after when we merged the two . . . if I hadn’t had the original host, I would have died again.”

“This is starting to sound like a thank you.” Kross would mumble as he looked back at him again.

“It is . . . I was getting there. You inadvertently saved me twice Kross. You’ve killed for me . . . you’ve protected me. Without you I would have been lost long ago, countless times.” Lazarius was being sincere. His black eyes contrasting against the pure white of his steward.

Kross waited for a moment as the words sunk in. He wasn’t wrong. But then again the old man was far too humble to just sit there and receive such praise. “I would like to believe that some of my patience and wisdom has helped you to grow more patient in these recent years.”

Lazarius nodded and smiled. “You are a great influence to me, Kross.”

There was a sudden knock on the chamber door as the meek little chirp of a mouse would suddenly pierce through the hall. “M-m-master . . . Lady Vari is in the dining hall . . . she. . . “

Kross absolutely knew what was going on. She’d gotten to the mead again. Vari was quite hostile these days and always wandered the halls and rooms looking for something to grasp to. Trying to reach some connection to her life. He calmly and carefully let the lid of the box shut and peered to his master.

“I will tend to her, she is. . .” Kross began and let his words drift.

“I know.” Lazarius said, already knowing that they shared something he and his twin could not. And that was death. Lazarius would gladly allow this moment to pass without him. Kross could get through to the Harbinger like no other. Another prime example of his value to this order. Every person here shared a unique link to the old man. It was always a blessing when he suddenly appeared, and a forlorn reminder that he was only a specter in the wind when he had vanished.

“Tell Lady Duskflame. . .I said Thank you.” And vanish he did. The gilnean would slip into the mist of white vapor that often manifested when he came and left. Lazarius held tightly to the skull of his former Mistress. He peered down at her open eye sockets, the bleached white bone of her cheeks and curves of her nostril airway. He lightly ran his finger across the brow and smiled.

“Thank you. . .” Lazarius whispered softly to the skull. He was actually thanking his Mistress. Thanking her for not only everything she had done to teach him and mold him into what he was today, but for the greatest gift she could have given to him without even knowing. In her own selfish act of preserving her lover’s fragile mortality, she inadvertently gave Lazarius the greatest weapon she ever could. Admiral Algus Kross.

this is the True story of Today’s reading in the Scriptures with chapter 13 from the book of Matthew:

[The Parables of Jesus]

Later that day, Jesus left the house and sat by the lakeshore to teach the people. Soon, there were so many people surrounding him that he had to teach sitting in a boat while the large crowd stood on the shore. He taught them many things by using stories, parables to illustrate spiritual truths, saying:

“Consider this: There was a farmer who went out to sow seeds. As he cast his seeds, some fell along the beaten path and the birds came and ate them. Others fell onto gravel that had no topsoil. They quickly shot up, but when the days grew hot, they were scorched and withered because they had insufficient roots. Others fell among the thorns, so when they sprouted, the thorns choked them. But other seeds fell on good, rich soil that kept producing a good harvest. Some yielded thirty, some sixty, and some even one hundred times as much as he planted! If you’re able to understand this, then you need to respond.”

Then his disciples approached Jesus and asked, “Why do you always speak to people in these hard-to-understand parables?”

He explained, “You’ve been given the intimate experience of insight into the hidden mysteries of the realm of heaven’s kingdom, but they have not. For everyone who listens with an open heart will receive progressively more revelation until he has more than enough. But those who don’t listen with an open, teachable heart, even the understanding that they think they have will be taken from them. That’s why I teach the people using parables, because they think they’re looking for truth, yet because their hearts are unteachable, they never discover it. Although they will listen to me, they never fully perceive the message I speak. The prophecy of Isaiah describes them perfectly:

Although they listen carefully to everything I speak,

they don’t understand a thing I say.

They look and pretend to see,

but the eyes of their hearts are closed.

Their minds are dull and slow to perceive,

their ears are plugged and are hard of hearing,

and they have deliberately shut their eyes to the truth.

Otherwise they would open their eyes to see,

and open their ears to hear,

and open their minds to understand.

Then they would turn to me

and I would instantly heal them.

“But blissful are your eyes, for they see. Delighted are your ears, for they are open to hear all these things. Many prophets and godly people yearned to see these days of miracles that you’ve been favored to see. They would have given everything to hear the revelation you’ve been favored to hear.

“Now you are ready to hear the explanation of the parable of the sower:

“What was sown along the path represents the one who listens to the message of the kingdom but doesn’t understand it. The Adversary then comes and snatches away what was sown into his heart.

“The one sown on gravel represents the person who gladly hears the kingdom message, but his experience remains shallow. Shortly after he hears it, troubles and persecutions come because of the kingdom message he received. Then he quickly falls away, for the truth didn’t sink deeply into his heart.

“The one sown among thorns represents one who receives the message, but all of life’s busy distractions, his divided heart, and his ambition for wealth result in suffocating the kingdom message and it becomes fruitless.

“But what was sown on good, rich soil represents the one who hears and fully embraces the message of the kingdom. Their lives bear good fruit—some yield a harvest of thirty, sixty, even one hundred times as much as was sown.”

Then Jesus taught them another parable:

“Heaven’s kingdom can be compared to a farmer who planted good seed in his field. But when everyone was asleep, an enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat and ran away. When the wheat sprouted and bore grain, the weeds also appeared. So the farmer’s hired hands came to him and said, ‘Sir, wasn’t that good seed that you sowed in the field? Where did all these weeds come from?’

“He answered, ‘This has to be the work of an enemy!’

“They replied, ‘Do you want us to go and gather up all the weeds?’

“ ‘No,’ he said. ‘If you pull out the weeds you might uproot the wheat at the same time. Let them both grow together until the harvest. At that time, I’ll tell my harvesters to gather the weeds first and tie them all in bundles to be burned. Then they will harvest the wheat and put it into my barn.’ ”

Then Jesus taught them another parable:

“Heaven’s kingdom can be compared to the tiny mustard seed that a man takes and plants in his field. Although the smallest of all the seeds, it eventually grows into the greatest of garden plants, becoming a tree for birds to come and build their nests in its branches.”

Then he taught them another parable:

“Heaven’s kingdom can be compared to yeast that a woman takes and blends into three measures of flour and then waits until all the dough rises.”

Whenever Jesus addressed the crowds, he always spoke in allegories. He never spoke without using parables. He did this to fulfill the prophecy:

I will speak to you in allegories.

I will reveal secrets that have been concealed

since before the foundation of the world.

Jesus left the crowds and went inside the house where he was staying. Then his disciples approached him and asked, “Please explain the deeper meaning of the parable of the weeds growing in the field of wheat.”

He answered, “The man who sowed his field with good seed is the Son of Man. And the field is the world. The good seeds I sow are the children of the kingdom realm. The weeds are the children of the Evil One, and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest points to the end of this age, and the harvesters are God’s messengers. As the weeds are bundled up and thrown into the fire, so it will be at the close of the age. The Son of Man will send his messengers, and they will uproot everything out of his kingdom. All the lawless ones and everything that causes sin will be removed. And they will throw them into the fiery furnace, where they will experience great sorrow and anguish. Then the righteous will shine like the brightness of the sun in their Father’s kingdom realm. If you’re able to understand this, then you’d better respond!”

“Heaven’s kingdom realm can be illustrated like this:

“A person discovered that there was hidden treasure in a field. Upon finding it, he hid it again. Because of uncovering such treasure, he was overjoyed and sold all that he possessed to buy the entire field just so he could have the treasure.

“Heaven’s kingdom realm is also like a jewel merchant in search of rare pearls. When he discovered one very precious and exquisite pearl, he immediately gave up all he had in exchange for it.”

“Again, heaven’s kingdom realm is like a fisherman who casts his large net into the lake, catching an assortment of fish. When the net was filled, the fishermen hauled it up on the shore, and they all sat down to sort out their catch. They collected the good in baskets and threw the bad away. And so it will be at the close of the age. The messengers will come and separate the evil from among the godly and throw them into the fiery furnace, where they will experience great sorrow and anguish. Now do you understand all this?”

“Yes,” they replied.

He responded, “Every scholar of the Scriptures, who is instructed in the ways of heaven’s kingdom realm, is like a wealthy home owner with his house filled with treasures both new and old.”

Right after Jesus taught this series of parables, he left from there.

When Jesus arrived in his hometown of Nazareth, he began teaching the people in the synagogue. Everyone was dazed, overwhelmed with astonishment over the depth of revelation they were hearing. They said to one another, “Where did this man get such great wisdom and miraculous powers? Isn’t he just the craftsman’s son? Isn’t his mother named Mary, and his four brothers Jacob, Joseph, Simon, and Judah? And don’t his sisters all live here in Nazareth? From where then did he get all this revelation and power?” And the people became offended and began to turn against him.

Jesus said, “There’s only one place a prophet isn’t honored—his own hometown!” And their unbelief kept him from doing many mighty miracles in Nazareth.

The Book of Matthew, Chapter 13 (The Passion Translation)

Today’s paired chapter of the Testaments is the closing chapter 10 of the book of Ezra where the Israelite men were told to divorce their foreign wives since the foreign nations did not worship the True God our Creator and were involved in idolatry. and Paul wrote of this in his Letters in the New Testament as well, of not seeking to be unequally joined with unbelievers. although if a person already has done so, or maybe has come to believe since marrying, then he instructs to remain married if the partner is willing to stay, possibly to inspire them to come to the same shared faith, in hope and in Love.

[Ezra Takes Charge]

Ezra wept, prostrate in front of The Temple of God. As he prayed and confessed, a huge number of the men, women, and children of Israel gathered around him. All the people were now weeping as if their hearts would break.

Shecaniah son of Jehiel of the family of Elam, acting as spokesman, said to Ezra: “We betrayed our God by marrying foreign wives from the people around here. But all is not lost; there is still hope for Israel. Let’s make a covenant right now with our God, agreeing to get rid of all these wives and their children, just as my master and those who honor God’s commandment are saying. It’s what The Revelation says, so let’s do it.

“Now get up, Ezra. Take charge—we’re behind you. Don’t back down.”

So Ezra stood up and had the leaders of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel solemnly swear to do what Shecaniah proposed. And they did it.

Then Ezra left the plaza in front of The Temple of God and went to the home of Jehohanan son of Eliashib where he stayed, still fasting from food and drink, continuing his mourning over the betrayal by the exiles.

A notice was then sent throughout Judah and Jerusalem ordering all the exiles to meet in Jerusalem. Anyone who failed to show up in three days, in compliance with the ruling of the leaders and elders, would have all his possessions confiscated and be thrown out of the congregation of the returned exiles.

All the men of Judah and Benjamin met in Jerusalem within the three days. It was the twentieth day of the ninth month. They all sat down in the plaza in front of The Temple of God. Because of the business before them, and aggravated by the buckets of rain coming down on them, they were restless, uneasy, and anxious.

Ezra the priest stood up and spoke: “You’ve broken trust. You’ve married foreign wives. You’ve piled guilt on Israel. Now make your confession to God, the God of your ancestors, and do what he wants you to do: Separate yourselves from the people of the land and from your foreign wives.”

The whole congregation responded with a shout, “Yes, we’ll do it—just the way you said it!”

They also said, “But look, do you see how many people there are out here? And it’s the rainy season; you can’t expect us to stand out here soaking wet until this is done—why, it will take days! A lot of us are deeply involved in this transgression. Let our leaders act on behalf of the whole congregation. Have everybody who lives in cities and who has married a foreign wife come at an appointed time, accompanied by the elders and judges of each city. We’ll keep at this until the hot anger of our God over this thing is turned away.”

Only Jonathan son of Asahel and Jahzeiah son of Tikvah, supported by Meshullam and Shabbethai the Levite, opposed this. So the exiles went ahead with the plan. Ezra the priest picked men who were family heads, each one by name. They sat down together on the first day of the tenth month to pursue the matter. By the first day of the first month they had finished dealing with every man who had married a foreign wife.

Among the families of priests, the following were found to have married foreign wives:

The family of Jeshua son of Jozadak and his brothers: Maaseiah, Eliezer, Jarib, and Gedaliah. They all promised to divorce their wives and sealed it with a handshake. For their guilt they brought a ram from the flock as a Compensation-Offering.

The family of Immer: Hanani and Zebadiah.

The family of Harim: Maaseiah, Elijah, Shemaiah, Jehiel, and Uzziah.

The family of Pashhur: Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethanel, Jozabad, and Elasah.

From the Levites: Jozabad, Shimei, Kelaiah—that is, Kelita—Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.

From the singers: Eliashib.

From the temple security guards: Shallum, Telem, and Uri.

And from the other Israelites:

The family of Parosh: Ramiah, Izziah, Malkijah, Mijamin, Eleazar, Malkijah, and Benaiah.

The family of Elam: Mattaniah, Zechariah, Jehiel, Abdi, Jeremoth, and Elijah.

The family of Zattu: Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, Jeremoth, Zabad, and Aziza.

The family of Bebai: Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, and Athlai.

The family of Bani: Meshullam, Malluch, Adaiah, Jashub, Sheal, and Jeremoth.

The family of Pahath-Moab: Adna, Kelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezalel, Binnui, and Manasseh.

The family of Harim: Eliezer, Ishijah, Malkijah, Shemaiah, Shimeon, Benjamin, Malluch, and Shemariah.

The family of Hashum: Mattenai, Mattattah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, and Shimei.

The family of Bani: Maadai, Amram, Uel, Benaiah, Bedeiah, Keluhi, Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib, Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasu.

The family of Binnui: Shimei, Shelemiah, Nathan, Adaiah, Macnadebai, Shashai, Sharai, Azarel, Shelemiah, Shemariah, Shallum, Amariah, and Joseph.

The family of Nebo: Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jaddai, Joel, and Benaiah.

All these had married foreign wives and some had also had children by them.

The Book of Ezra, Chapter 10 (The Message)

my personal reading of the Scriptures for monday, march 15 of 2021 with a paired chapter from each Testament of the Bible, along with Today’s Psalms and Proverbs

Our Torah reading for this week is Vayikra ("and he called"), the very first portion from the Book of Leviticus (ספר ויקרא). In Jewish tradition, the Book of Leviticus is sometimes called the "Book of Sacrifices" (ספר הזבחים) since it deals largely with the various sacrificial offerings brought to the altar at the Mishkan (i.e., Tabernacle). Indeed, over 40 percent of all the Torah's commandments are found in this central book of the Scriptures, highlighting that blood atonement is essential to the Torah. Indeed, since the revelation of the Tabernacle was the climax of the revelation given at Sinai, the Book of Leviticus serves as its ritual expression, as it is written: "For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it for you on the altar to make atonement for your souls, for it is the blood that makes atonement (kapparah) by the life" (Lev. 17:11).

Unlike narrative portions of other books of the Torah, the Book of Leviticus begins with the LORD "calling out" (i.e., vayikra) to Moses to explain that the way to draw near to Him is by means of atoning sacrifice. It is noteworthy that throughout the book, only the sacred name of the LORD (יהוה) is used in connection with sacrificial offerings, and never the name Elohim (אלוהים). This suggests that sacrificial offerings were given to draw us near to experience God's mercy and compassion rather than to simply appease His anger.... In other words, the Name of the LORD represents salvation (i.e., yeshuah: ישועה) and healing for the sinner, not God’s judgment (John 3:17). Indeed, the word korban (קרבן), often translated as "sacrifice" or "offering," comes from a root word karov (קרב) that means to "draw close" or "to come near" (James 4:8). The sinner who approached the LORD trusting in the efficacy of the sacrificial blood shed on his or her behalf would find healing and life...

God’s sovereignty means he is in control of all things. Not one atom in the universe is outside his control. Because he is sovereign over all, he causes all things to fulfill his plans and purposes. God is sovereign of the angels of heaven and the demons of hell. He is in control of every nation, every leader, every event of history. And he causes all things to work together for good for his children, as he promises in Ro 8:

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (RO 8:28)

Have Faith in God’s faithfulness and love for you

But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. LA 3.21-23

Here’s how to have more faith this year: Regularly call this to mind. Meditate on this. Dwell on this. Thank God for it when you wake up each morning: His steadfast love for you never ceases. Nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. RO 8:38-39

If you regularly call these verses to mind you will find your faith growing this year more and more.

Have faith in God’s care for you

casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. 1 Pe 5.7

God doesn’t simply love you, he cares for you! In my early years as a Christian I believed that God was so busy running the universe, he couldn’t have time for my petty needs. But I was wrong. He deeply, intensely, personally cares about his children. He cares for you. Jesus is a sympathetic high priest. He knows what you’re going through. He knows the ways you are tempted, because he’s been through it too. So come to him, cast your cares and anxieties on him because he’s waiting to help you. He cares deeply for you. Meditate on this and thank him for his care and your faith will grow.

Have faith in God’s Wisdom

Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments and how inscrutable his ways! RO 11:33

God’s wisdom is infinite. In his wisdom he created and upholds the universe. In his wisdom he planned our salvation through the life, death and resurrection of his very own Son. Who could have thought of that? Because God is infinitely sovereign, loving and wise, his plans for our lives are perfect. He has a wise plan for your life. In his wisdom he takes us through the things he does because he knows they are the most perfect things we need.

Whatever God allows you to go through it is because in his wisdom he knows you need it. And he has the wisest solution for all you need. So dwell on his wisdom and your faith will grow.

Have faith in God’s goodness

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! PS 34.8 God is not only sovereign, loving and wise, but he is infinitely good. He cannot do and will never do anything that is not good for us. As I meditate on God’s goodness, he causes me to grow in faith and peace and joy. I know he only has good in store for me. And even the things that don’t seem good, I know he is working for my good. And as I mentioned earlier, the greatest good he has is to conform me to the likeness of Jesus.

What a good, loving and wonderful God we serve! Meditate on his word this year. Try to memorize his word. Think about his attributes. And finally, PRAY FOR MORE FAITH! He’s waiting to give us more and more faith in him. May this year be a year we all grow more and more in the knowledge of our Lord.

this is the topic of Today’s storytelling from the Scriptures just as seen in these lines:

Another story. “God’s kingdom is like a pine nut that a farmer plants. It is quite small as seeds go, but in the course of years it grows into a huge pine tree, and eagles build nests in it.”

The Book of Matthew, Chapter 13:31-32 (The Message)

“Consider this: There was a farmer who went out to sow seeds. As he cast his seeds, some fell along the beaten path and the birds came and ate them. Other seeds fell onto gravel that had no topsoil. The seeds quickly shot up, but when the days grew hot, the sprouts were scorched and withered because they had insufficient roots. Other seeds fell among the thorns and weeds, so when the seeds sprouted, so did the weeds, crowding out the good plants. But other seeds fell on good, rich soil that kept producing a good harvest. Some yielded thirty, some sixty, and some even one hundred times as much as he planted! If you’re able to understand this, then you need to respond.”

Then his disciples approached Jesus and asked, “Why do you always speak to people in these hard-to-understand parables?”

He explained, “You’ve been given the intimate experience of insight into the hidden truths and mysteries of the realm of heaven’s kingdom, but they have not. For everyone who listens with an open heart will receive progressively more revelation until he has more than enough. But those who don’t listen with an open, teachable heart, even the understanding that they think they have will be taken from them. That’s why I teach the people using parables, because they think they’re looking for truth, yet because their hearts are unteachable, they never discover it. Although they will listen to me, they never fully perceive the message I speak. The prophecy of Isaiah describes them perfectly:

Although they listen carefully to everything I speak,

they don’t understand a thing I say.

They look and pretend to see,

but the eyes of their hearts are closed.

Their minds are dull and slow to perceive,

their ears are plugged and are hard of hearing,

and they have deliberately shut their eyes to the truth.

Otherwise they would open their eyes to see,

and open their ears to hear,

and open their minds to understand.

Then they would turn to me

and let me instantly heal them.

“But your eyes are privileged, for they see. Delighted are your ears, for they are open to hear all these things. Many prophets and godly people in times past yearned to see these days of miracles that you’ve been favored to see. They would have given everything to hear the revelation you’ve been favored to hear. Yet they didn’t get to see as much as a glimpse or hear even a whisper.

“Now you are ready to listen to the revelation of the parable of the sower and his seeds:

“The seed that fell on the beaten path represents the heart of the one who hears the message of the kingdom realm but doesn’t understand it. The Adversary then comes and snatches away what was sown into his heart.

“The seed sown on gravel represents the person who gladly hears the kingdom message, but his experience remains shallow. Shortly after he hears it, troubles and persecutions come because of the kingdom message he received. Then he quickly falls away, for the truth didn’t sink deeply into his heart.

“The seed sown among weeds represents the person who receives the message, but all of life’s busy distractions, his divided heart, and his ambition for wealth result in suffocating the kingdom message and prevent him from bearing spiritual fruit.

“As for the seed that fell upon good, rich soil, it represents the hearts of people who hear and fully embrace the message of heaven’s kingdom realm. Their lives bear good fruit—some yield a harvest of thirty, sixty, even one hundred times as much as was sown.”

Then Jesus taught them another parable:

“Heaven’s kingdom realm can be compared to a farmer who planted good seed in his field. But at night, when everyone was asleep, an enemy came and planted poisonous weeds among the wheat and ran away. When the wheat sprouted and bore grain, the weeds also appeared. So the farmer’s hired hands came to him and said, ‘Sir, wasn’t that good seed that you sowed in the field? Where did all these weeds come from?’

“He answered, ‘This has to be the work of an enemy!’

“They replied, ‘Do you want us to go and gather up all the weeds?’

“‘No,’ he said. ‘If you pull out the weeds you might uproot the wheat at the same time. You must allow them both to grow together until the time of harvest. At that time, I’ll tell my harvesters to make sure they gather the weeds first and tie them all in bundles to be burned. Then they will harvest the wheat and put it into my barn.’”

Then Jesus taught them another parable:

“Heaven’s kingdom realm can be compared to the tiny mustard seed that a man takes and plants in his field. Although the smallest of all the seeds, it eventually grows into the greatest of garden plants, becoming a tree for birds to come and build their nests in its branches.”

Then he taught them another parable:

“Heaven’s kingdom realm can be compared to yeast that a woman takes and blends into three measures of flour and then waits until all the dough rises.”

Whenever Jesus addressed the crowds, he always spoke in allegories. He never spoke without using parables. He did this in order to fulfill the prophecy:

I will speak to you in allegories.

I will reveal secrets that have been concealed

since before the foundation of the world.

[Jesus Explains the Parables]

He answered, “The man who sowed his field with good seed represents me, the Son of Man. And the field is the world. The good seeds I sow are the children of the kingdom realm. The weeds are the children of the Evil One, and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest points to the end of this age, and the harvesters are God’s messengers. As the weeds are bundled up and thrown into the fire, so it will be at the close of the age. The Son of Man will send his messengers, and they will uproot everything out of his kingdom. All the lawless ones and everything that causes sin will be removed. And they will throw them into the fiery furnace, where they will experience great sorrow, pain, and anguish. Then the godly ones will shine like the brightness of the sun in their Father’s kingdom realm. If you’re able to understand this, then you’d better respond!”

“Heaven’s kingdom realm can be illustrated like this:

“Heaven’s kingdom realm is also like a jewel merchant in search of rare pearls. When he discovered one very precious and exquisite pearl, he immediately gave up all he had in exchange for it.”

“Again, heaven’s kingdom realm is like a fisherman who casts his large net into the lake, catching an assortment of different kinds of fish. When the net was filled, the fishermen hauled it up on the shore, and they all sat down to sort out their catch. They collected the good fish in baskets and threw the bad away. And so it will be at the close of the age. The messengers will come and separate the evil from among the godly and throw them into the fiery furnace, where they will experience great sorrow, pain, and anguish. Now do you understand all this?”

“Yes,” they replied.

He responded, “Every scholar of the Scriptures, who is instructed in the ways of heaven’s kingdom realm, is like a wealthy home owner with his house filled with treasures both new and old. And he knows how and when to bring them out to show others.”

Right after Jesus taught this series of parables, he left from there.

[Jesus Rejected in His Hometown]

When Jesus arrived in his hometown of Nazareth, he began teaching the people in the synagogue. Everyone was dazed, overwhelmed with astonishment over the depth of revelation they were hearing. They said to one another, “Where did this man get such great wisdom and miraculous powers? Isn’t he just the wood-worker’s son? Isn’t his mother named Mary, and his four brothers Jacob, Joseph, Simon, and Judah? And don’t his sisters all live here in Nazareth? How did he get all this revelation and power?” And the people became offended and began to turn against him.

Jesus said, “There’s only one place a prophet isn’t honored—his own hometown!” And their great unbelief kept him from doing any mighty miracles in Nazareth.

The Book of Matthew, Chapter 13 (The Passion Translation)

Today’s paired chapter of the Testaments is the closing chapter #36 in the book of Numbers:

The heads of the extended families traced back to Joseph through Gilead (son of Machir, son of Manasseh) approached Moses, the community’s leaders, and the heads of Israel’s extended families to share their concerns.

Zelophehad’s Family: We appreciate and accept that the Eternal One told Moses, my lord, that among the land given by lot to the Israelites, whatever would have gone to Zelophehad (our kinsman) as an inheritance should be passed down to his daughters. The trouble is, if they marry outside of our tribe into another Israelite tribe, their land will go with them. That will reduce the territory designated to our family and increase the other tribe’s inheritance. And in the great 50th year, the Sabbath of Sabbath years called the Jubilee of the Israelites, whatever land used to be ours through their connection to our family will certainly revert to whichever tribe they married into. In other words, their inheritance will be forever taken away from the territory that belongs to our extended family.

Moses (to all the Israelites): The Eternal has said that these descendants of Joseph are right. In light of it, He has determined that Zelophehad’s daughters should marry whomever they think is best, but they should do so within the clan of their extended family so that their land stays in the family. The same goes for any future Israelite daughters in a similar situation. Let them marry whomever they will, but only within the clan of their father’s extended family. There shouldn’t be any permanent transfer of land from one tribe to another because the territories should be fixed as each tribe’s inheritance for all time.

The daughters of Zelophehad didn’t argue or dissent. They obeyed the command of the Eternal One as articulated by Moses. Mahlah, Tirzah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Noah each married one of their cousins from a clan of Manesseh (Joseph’s son). Thus, they and their land stayed within the Manasseh clan.

These are the directions and instructions the Eternal One gave through Moses to the Israelites before they entered Canaan, as they stood on the Moabite flatlands next to the Jordan River, east of Jericho.

To learn the truth you must long to be teachable,

or you can despise correction and remain ignorant.

If your heart is right, favor flows from the Lord,

but a devious heart invites his condemnation.

You can’t expect success by doing what’s wrong.

But the lives of his lovers are deeply rooted and firmly planted.

The integrity and strength of a virtuous wife

transforms her husband into an honored king.

But the wife who disgraces her husband

weakens the strength of his identity.

The lovers of God are filled with good ideas

that are noble and pure,

but the schemes of the sinner

are crammed with nothing but lies.

The wicked use their words to ambush and accuse,

but the lovers of God speak to defend and protect.

The wicked are taken out, gone for good,

but the godly families shall live on.

Everyone admires a man of principles,

but the one with a corrupt heart is despised.

Just be who you are and work hard for a living,

for that’s better than pretending to be important

and starving to death.

A good man takes care of the needs of his pets,

while even the kindest acts of a wicked man are still cruel.

Work hard at your job and you’ll have what you need.

Following a get-rich-quick scheme is nothing but a fantasy.

The cravings of the wicked are only for what is evil,

but righteousness is the core motivation for the lovers of God,

and it keeps them content and flourishing.

[Wisdom Means Being Teachable]

The wicked will get trapped by their words

of gossip, slander, and lies.

But for the righteous, honesty is its own defense.

For there is great satisfaction in speaking the truth,

and hard work brings blessings back to you.

A fool is in love with his own opinion,

but wisdom means being teachable.

[Learning to Speak Wisely]

If you shrug off an insult and refuse to take offense,

you demonstrate discretion indeed.

But the fool has a short fuse

and will immediately let you know when he’s offended.

Truthfulness marks the righteous,

but the habitual liar can never be trusted.

Reckless words are like the thrusts of a sword,

cutting remarks meant to stab and to hurt.

But the words of the wise soothe and heal.

Truthful words will stand the test of time,

but one day every lie will be seen for what it is.

Deception fills the hearts of those who plot harm,

but those who plan for peace are filled with joy.

Calamity is not allowed to overwhelm the righteous,

but there’s nothing but trouble waiting for the wicked.

Live in the truth and keep your promises,

and the Lord will keep delighting in you,

but he detests a liar.

Those who possess wisdom don’t feel the need

to impress others with what they know,

but foolish ones make sure their ignorance is on display.

If you want to reign in life,

don’t sit on your hands.

Instead work hard at doing what’s right,

for the slacker will end up working to make someone else succeed.

Anxious fear brings depression,

but a life-giving word of encouragement

can do wonders to restore joy to the heart.

Lovers of God give good advice to their friends,

but the counsel of the wicked will lead them astray.

A passive person won’t even complete a project,

but a passionate person makes good use

of his time, wealth, and energy.

Abundant life is discovered by walking in righteousness,

but holding on to your anger leads to death.

The Book of Proverbs, Chapter 12 (The Passion Translation)

Let all the priests bless Lord-Yahweh!

Let all his lovers who bow low before him

praise the Lord-Yahweh!

So bless the Lord-Yahweh who lives in Jerusalem

and dwells in Zion’s glory!
