Rebecca gives you one book without Violet and Xaden miscommunicating and you guys call it cringey? Are you all ok? No seriously what was cringey about this book please tell me cause I don't get it.
Also, halden wasn't there to cause conflict between xaden and Violet. He was there to show Navarrian leadership's actual part in killing the venin which was 0. It was also to show the possible future of Navarre.

Deal // Part 2
 Harry Hook x Reader
request: So like one night the reader sees a cockroach crawling under a furniture and starts a wild hunt - like, legit, I see a cockroach I'll move all my furniture till I find it so I'm just picturing hook daydreaming when he's awaken from it by the reader screaming for him to come to her room now and not even like a normal person, just straight up jump through the window, and after a few minutes of finding, killing, and disposing of the cockroach, they start putting the furniture back in its place and talking about themselves, and sharing things would work as a kind of setup to a idea I have in mind for them getting together on a part 3
read part one here
requested by @nitakali (this oneâs for you fam youâre fantastic)
notes: so this is the second part to Deal and itâs NOT OVER YET YALL THEREâS GON BE PART 3 HANG ON TO YOUR HATS
Ever since the fateful night where you had embarrassed yourself in front of your crush, Harry Hook, you swear youâd been seeing him more than usual.
It started out small at first. Youâd occasionally catch a glimpse of a red jacket out of the corner of your eye, then brush it off as someone who also liked the colour red. It was a nice colour.
Then youâd actually start to see the pirate lingering around your usual route. Heâd never be looking at you directly- heâd have his back turned to you, talking to Gil.
After that, you had actually started to see him staring at you. Whenever youâd look up from one of your books or from talking to your friends, heâd be there to catch your eye. Within a second of eye contact, you had turned away, cheeks blazing red.
Harry started to visit his usual spot outside your dorm window more often. What started out as once a week eventually developed into every other day. Heâd sit on the bench, with his legs crossed in front of him and head placed in his hand. He would sit there for hours on end, just thinking. It only happened at night when no one was around. The silence of the night calmed him, almost as much as the lapping of waves used to.
Youâd be in your dorm, working on schoolwork or dancing around carelessly to music. Harry would glance up and see your silhouette twirling behind your curtains. A smile would unknowingly creep onto his lips as he shook his head, falling back into his thoughts.
Occasionally, youâd peek out from behind your curtains and gaze at the pirate outside your window. Youâd been harbouring a small crush on him, and it certainly didnât hurt anyone to look for a while.
Harry knew you were staring. That only fueled the fire, as he would look up straight at you with his signature smirk that would only widen when you retreated into your dorm, blushing.
It was another one of those nights where you were splayed across your bed surrounded by stationery and colourful notes, cramming for your upcoming test. You told yourself every time that youâd start studying in advance, but you always ended up here.
You had just made it to your last chapter when you saw something move out of the corner of your eye. You ignored it, going back to your reading when you noticed the black spot kept moving across your carpet. You set your book aside, getting off the bed to inspect the movement.
The brown little thing had legs and an antenna. Your mouth went dry as you screamed loudly, jumping onto your bed to evade the little creature. You flailed your arms around, trying to find something to defend yourself with. Besides your study materials, you didnât have much around you, and you didnât want to get cockroach juice on your textbook.
You groaned, pacing in tiny steps around your bed with a hand clapped against your forehead. âHarry!â
You thanked the gods for leaving your windows open, otherwise youâd just be screaming a pirateâs name in your room like a weirdo.
Said pirate heard your bloodcurdling shrieks. Who couldnât? It was like something out of a horror movie. He stood, edging slowly to your window. âWhat is it, Y/N?â
He could barely see you crouched on your bed, curling into yourself as you rocked back and forth. You couldnât see him from your spot on the bed, but you knew he was there.
âCome in, please!â You pleaded, eyes wide. You saw his shadow back away and you scrambled to stop him. âNo, forget the door, thatâll take too long! This is a life or death situation! Just come in through the window!â
Harry was silent as he stood still outside your window. This was the second time he had found you screaming in the middle of the night, and he was starting to wonder if what he was doing was a good idea.
He was shaken out of his thoughts by the small whimpers you were releasing. He sighed, but hoisted himself up and into your room with a low grunt. You let out a breath at the sight of him, feeling slightly safer with him in your room.
âWhatâs wrong?â He asked, worry evident in his voice. You shook your head quickly and squeaked out, âCockroach.â
Harry blinked, his shoulders relaxing. Heâd jumped in, yet again, thinking you were in genuine danger, but no, it was only a bug. Again. The pirate ran a hand over his face. âAre you serious? You screamed bloody murder for a cockroach?â
You narrowed your eyes at him, tossing a pillow his way. âHey! Those things are evil, and foul, and dirty!â You spoke exasperatedly when he dodged your throw.
âDarlinâ, you seem to have a thing for bugs.â He chuckled, leaning against your bed post. You retaliated almost immediately with a deadpan, âif that âthingâ is a genuine deathly fear of them, then yes, you are correct.â
Harryâs playful demeanor softened when he saw how actually scared you were, huddled up on your bed with your knees tucked to your chest.
âDonât worry, Iâm here now.â He spoke quietly, patting your hand softly. You looked up from your hands to him with a smile. âThank you.â
âNow, tell me where this little monster is.â He clapped his hands, hopping off your bed with a âthudâ. You raised a shaky hand to point to the floor, but your heart sank when all you saw was the normal white shag carpet.
âOh no.â You squeaked. Harry, on the other hand, grinned victoriously. âProblem solved.â
You gaped at him, eyes wide. âNo, problem not solved! That thingâs still in here!â Harry only shrugged, blue eyes scanning across your room for any sight of the bug. âItâs probably gone, love.â
You shook your head with a groan. âHarry, please. Help me find it?â
He contemplated his options. It was going to be a hard ânoâ, but when the pirate looked at you, that ânoâ turned into a âyesâ. Something about you managed to make him cave and he sighed, throwing his hands in the air. âFine.â
You grinned, despite the harrowing situation you were in. You wasted no time in pulling furniture away from walls, pulling out your bed sheets and pillowcases and checking the tiny nooks and crannies in your dorm. Harry did the same, only with less effort. He was still convinced the thing had left your room long ago.
After minutes of hard convincing on Harryâs part, youâd finally relented and agreed that the god-forsaken cockroach had long gone. The two of you had moved to put things back in their place, with Harry doing most of the heavy-lifting.
Not that you were complaining as you sat on your bed with new pillowcases in hand, staring at Harry push your heavy furniture back into place. The shirt he was wearing did little to conceal the movements of his prominent muscles.
You couldnât deny Harry Hook was hot.
You looked away, biting your lip as heat flooded your cheeks. You cleared your throat, tossing a pillow back in its place. âSo how are you liking Auradon so far?â
Harry turned with a hum. He looked at you, sitting cross-legged with your hair thrown into a very messy bun, and he couldnât help but give you a genuine smile. âItâs been getting better.â
âHow so?â You smile back. You started to work on tucking your other pillow into its cotton case. You raised your head to look at Harry who shrugged.
âAt first I hated this place. I wasnât used to all the... yâknow, buzz?â He ended his remark like a question and you nodded, understanding.
âthen I met you. And things got more interesting.â He finished with a smirk. You raised your eyebrows. âInteresting, huh?â
He chuckled, situating himself on the spot next to you. âItâs nice seeing you around.âÂ
You scoffed teasingly. âHook, you do know that if you wanted to âseeâ me you couldâve just asked?â This made the pirate look away, and you swore you could see a faint tinge of pink creep up his neck.
You grinned cheekily at his reaction. He recovered soon enough, to lean closer until his face was mere inches from yours. Your eyes couldnât leave his as you swallowed hard, trying to think of some snarky remark.
âHow âbout you, Y/N? Howâve you been?â
You leaned back, blinking quickly. âIâve been good?â You answered, but it only sounded like a question when the words left your mouth.
âSo, tell me about yourself.âÂ
âWhat do you want to know?â
Harry shrugged, head tilting up in thought. âAnything.â
You sighed, getting off your bed to tidy the pile of clothes littered across your floor. âWell...â you started, uncertain. âMy parents are Tarzan and Jane, thatâs why itâs really weird for me to be afraid of bugs, since I was practically raised in the jungle.â
Harry nodded in realisation. That explained a lot, from your choice of practical clothing to the abundance of potted plants in your room.
âI dunno... I kind of miss the jungle sometimes,â you sighed, fiddling with the leaf of one of your plants, âit used to be my home and now I can barely remember how the air smelled or how it felt to swing from the vines.âÂ
You chuckled sheepishly, âyeah, I was a wild kid. Literally.â
Harry laughs at your silly attempt of a joke. âIt sounds nice.â
You shake your head free of the memories, focusing on the pirate in front of you. âWhat about you?â
He didnât know what to say, so he shrugged again. âWhat about me?â He didnât think he was that interesting for you to keep asking for more about him.
âAnything!â You say with a giggle, plopping your head into your hands, looking up at him with wide eyes, âeverything.â
He tried to hold back a smile at your innocence and curiosity. He sighed, relenting to give you more information. âAlright, well... I know I shouldnât say this, but I miss the Isle sometimes.â
You tilted your head, silently asking for more. He continued, âI know that this place is a thousand times better than there, but itâs just like you said. Itâs my home. I have family there, just like you.â
You nod. âI get that, but hey,â you placed a warm hand on his, âyouâve got me now to keep you company.â
Harry canât help but smile. Heâs been doing that a lot lately, mostly around you. He knows whatâs happening, and he hates it, but at the same time loves it.
He opened his mouth to say something, but closed it soon after. You let out a light giggle, âwhat is it?â
He speaks quietly, uncertain. âCould I maybe âseeâ you sometime? Away from the midnight bug attacks?â
Heâs instantly reassured by your sweet laugh filling his ears.Â
âIâd love to.â

On the EVO donation drive
If youâre reading this on Tumblr and still following me you probably know that I pretty much only come around to post about EVO and then peace out a few days later. Iâm not sure how many of you that is because Im not 100% on how the new dashboard works but if you are here then you know Iâm around a little early. But Iâm posting *about* EVO anyway so there ya go.
If youâre reading this on Facebook then I know a lot of you guys probably only have at best a passing knowledge of what EVO is but youâve seen me post about it, particularly Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 a lot, so Iâm just gonna ask if you guys have any spare money please consider donating here:
https://www.generosity.com/fundraising/evo-2017-player-vote-ultimate-marvel-vs-capcom-3
Your money goes to the Make-a-Wish foundation, and you make a guy you know personally really happy as well.
And as a final pretense before I really get into this Iâm just gonna be honest this is gonna be pretty rant-y, so it might not be a super focused read and will probably contain a few expletives so just be pre-warned.
Originally I was gonna come here and I was going to break down the poll game by game, essentially breaking down why I felt like each game shouldnât be voted for and why Marvel should. But as it stands right now the winner is going to be either Marvel or Pokken, so this is mostly going to be centered around why I think Marvel is the most deserving game, and why I feel Pokken just might be the least deserving, or at least one of the least deserving.
And every time I look at that generosity page my stomach does flips because itâs literally like a best/worst case scenario. But the funny part about this entire situation is I feel like Marvel shouldnât even be on this poll. Marvel absolutely *should* already have its spot. Regardless of how you the individual might feel about Marvel 3 in particular, Marvel vs. Capcom has been practically synonymous with EVO. Up until only last year Marvel, be it 2, 3, or Ultimate 3, has always been sort of the penultimate game for EVO, only behind whatever Street Fighter was out at the time. I donât know if I agree with IFC Yipes in that Marvel made EVO (mostly because I havenât been around *that* long), but I do agree that without it EVO never would have reached the point that it has. And you look at Marvel 3 specifically, and that game has been a staple of EVO through damn near every iteration of Street Fighter 4, even lasting long enough to share the stage with Street Fighter 5, outlived who knows how many Netherrealms games, Soul Caliburs, Tekkens, Personas, you name it. And thatâs not to knock (most) of those games but to make a point that not even taking into account 2, Marvel 3 specifically has been a prefixture of this event for a long ass time
And never mind the countless moments that the game has given us. Back in 2013 what was one of the top things people talked about when EVO was over? Justinâs absolutely incredible run, beating odds on favorite Chris G and going on to nearly defeat Floker to win his first Marvel 3 EVO. Then there was the following year when he clutched it out against F Champ and beat Chris G once more to finally actually do it.
Hell even last year, Chris G, despite being the odds on favorite to win several years in a row, *finally* went ahead and took the one tournament that had alluded him for years. And the year before that when KBR (even though I dont much care for him) became the first non-American to win Marvel at EVO.
People have known for a minute with MvCI on the horizon that this was probably going to be Marvel 3â˛s last year at EVO, and so people were gearing up for itâs proper final sendoff and now youâre telling me that Marvel might not even be *at* EVO?
And I know thereâs a lot of people who agree with me on this because every where I go, even from people who voted for different games, even for people who voted for Pokken, I keep hearing the same thing: âIâm voting for Pokken, but Marvel absolutely deserves to be thereâ
âMarvel shouldnât even be a part of the pollâ
âThere shouldnât even be a poll, Marvel should take that 9th slotâ
And donât even get me started on how tight I am that there are not one but TWO Smash games, games that barely even qualify as fighting games, games that a good chunk of the FGC never wanted around in the first place, at EVO, but Marvel might not. Especially since yâall are a good chunk of the people pushing for Pokken (which weâll get to trust me). If I hear one more Melee player complain about Melee being on Saturday and not Sunday while Marvel might not even *be* at EVO I honestly might lose my shit.
And I mean no disrespect to my Smash 4 community, particularly the local Nebraska scene cuz yâall know I have nothing but respect for you guys. My problem really mostly is with Melee, that relic of a game that people just cant seem to let go of. But itâs so funny to me at how often the Smash crowd, particularly Melee, talks about how much they donât need the FGC and yet they wonât leave.
But it isnât even really about that. I could sit here and talk shit about Melee all day long but you know whatever. They have there spot and thatâs fine. But suffice to say that if it were up to me, Melee would get booted in favor of Marvel in a heartbeat.
But letâs talk about this poll for an honest minute though. If you remember the donation drive they did a while ago and compare it to this one, the last one blows this one way out of the water. Every single game on that list was at least, you know, a fighting game, with actual communities that would absolutely show up to play. I mean there was Melee and Brawl of course but again shit, at least those two games are closer to fighting games than shit like Windjammers, and Nidhogg. There wasnât goofy meme-y shit like those two, and ARMS. And dont get me wrong Iâm excited to play ARMS but THAT GAMES NOT EVEN OUT YET (and before anyone brings up âInjustice 2 isnât out eitherâ just know that in my book that game can go fuck itself for about the same reason. BUT EVEN THEN, that game at least has a known community that will come out and play it). We donât even know what community, if any, is gonna come out for ARMS, by that point, since itâll be coming out 1-3 months before EVO (Iâd remind you that ARMS doesnât even have a set release date. Just âSpring 2017âł), that game isnât even gonna have any real advanced tech discovered yet, if there even is any to discover. Not that any of those stand a chance at winning at this point but the fact that they were included kinda pisses me off. I can kind of see Windjammers since a lot of the FGC likes that game but Nidhogg? Do most of yall even remember that game? And ARMS? REally?
I know someoneâs gonna be like, âWell the last donation drive had Divekick, and Fighting is Magicâ. And I was one of the first people to say that FiM was probably the weakest, meme-ist option put up there but you know, that was happened because the FGC is filled with trolls. If you remember, the only games that made the donation drive were games that got at least 500 votes on the Facebook poll and Iâm pretty confident that 490 of FiMâs votes were trolls being trolls. And at least in Divekickâs defense, that game was made by a dude from that community, for the community. Divekick is basically one massive FGC in joke anyway so if Divekick had made it, it basically wouldâve been a big thank you to one of the FGCâs own.
But I think what makes me the most upset about the whole situation isnât even just that Marvel might not get the proper sendoff that it deserves, but that itâs Swan Song stands a strong chance of being snatched away by Pokken. And just, letâs review Pokken for a sec.
First off, this was the game that was being removed from Japanese arcades in droves because nobody gave enough of a shit to play it. And weâre talking about a culture that loves both Pokemon AND fighting games, and they wanted absolutely nothing to do with that game.
And then, when it came stateside, those of yall that watched tournaments saw that pretty much ever ad breakthere was a little vingette for Pokken. They tried their hardest to get people to actually care about this game, and yet... you pratically had to dig through the Twitch trenches just to find Pokken tournaments. People werenât watching, and people werenât entering. Then it got to EVO because Nintendo money, and it had one of the lowest entrants and viewer rates of any of the games there.
Then post EVO, a lot of majors didnât even run the game because people werenât entering or watching. And speaking of Nintendo, I would remind you that Nintendo themselves have since dropped Pokken from their Pokemon Championship Series. So not even the parent company gives a fuck about the game at this point.
So with all that being said, never in a million years did I think that Marvel would be neck and neck with Pokken. KI, maybe. MKX, maybe. Shit I figured even Windjammers had a better shot than Pokken and yet here we are.
And you might wonder where the fuck the money is coming from if nobody gives a shit about Pokken. Simple, its coming from Smashers (and you can go check smash websites, most of them are advocating super hard for Pokken), and people who are just fans of Pokemon and will throw money at anything Pokemon. And look I love Pokemon too. Itâs top 3 favorite Nintendo franchise and might be top 5 favorite franchises of all time. But I have no doubt in my mind that a lot of the people throwing money at this, barely know what EVO is, probably donât even know the dates of EVO, and have 0 intentions of watching that game at EVO much less showing up to play the game. Case in point, Shofu is out here on Twitter advocating and donating to this game, and you would think that Shofu, who runs one of the biggest Pokemon related YouTube channels, would probably have a lot of Pokken content right? Well guess when the last time he even posted a video about the game was. Iâll save you the search, it was 6 months ago. One of these videos were, ironically enough, entitled âtime to come backâ. And then there were two more videos within the same time span, and he hasnât touched the game since.
And this is kind of the additude that Iâm talking about. I read a tweet earlier that summed it up perfectly. About how people never want to watch or come out to support Pokken, and then want to wonder why there arenât any Pokken tournaments. That game died forever ago. You might even argue that that game was dead on arrival but even if you donât, then you have to agree that there hasnât been a game that died out quicker than Pokken did. For all the shit people gave SFxT at least that game lasted a couple of years as opposed to about 3 months. And at least that game had some potential at release, instead of being booted from Japanese arcades Yâall are throwing money at this game and I have no doubt in my mind that itâs going to once again have abyssmal turnout/viewership.
And thatâs to me, is the most upsetting thing. That Marvel stands a shot of being robbed by a game that people donât actually care about, but has a fanbase that will throw money at anything with Pikachuâs face on it. If it were KI, I wouldnât be super happy, but it would be ok. MKX, kinda upset because I hate that game but you know what, fine. Or even Skullgirls which to me would be best case scenario, if your top two games were SG and Marvel because easily and measurably those two deserve it. Skullgirls is a fantastic game with an ultra dedicated community that only got treated like shit by EVO. I have no doubt in my mind that had SGâs won the last donation drive that game would be one of the biggest in the FGC right now and might even still to this day be a mainstay at EVO. And so if *any* game was gonna be Marvel, Iâd wish it to be Skullgirls. But at least I can say of any of the games I mentioned above, people would come out to play it, and support it. In the example of MKX, it would be the exact same people that would be playing Injustice but fuck, at least itâs *someone*.
And I know someoneâs gonna be like âwell what did you ever do for Marvel?â and yeah, Iâve never been to a major, because I donât have money like that. But at least every time there is something local for the game, I go out and play. I took time off of work and drove an hour out one time just to get 0-2d in Marvel on a couple of occasions, but at least I went out there. And Iâm out here watching the streams, watching the VoDs; 90% of my âwatch laterâ playlist is Marvel shit that I didnât get to watch live.
And with that said, yeah Iâll admit that a bit of it is personal for me. Marvel is absolutely my favorite game out there right now. Without Marvel 3 I probably would not care about EVO and the FGC as a whole. But thatâs why I donât want to see it get robbed of a proper sendoff by a game thatâs just gonna die out again the minute EVO is over.
#a rant#read if you want#probably not gonna get into a discussion over it though tbh#EVO#EVO2k17#FGC
