i tbh cant take western books based off hindu mythology seriously (fantasy books especially) cause even reading the back blurb feels like "rivers of ghee flow through my veins....my ancestors....ate mangos by the ganges....karmic balance...laal dupatta" type milk and honey writing. and while that's a preconception i should probably get over sometime soon, kaikeyi is the ONLY myth retelling book thats on my list rn. indian or not. this is so risky to me though because my options are 1) its good 2) its bad in the circe way or 3) its REALLY bad in the shannon chakraborty way
