thinking about joey richter right now
theres something about the way he plays his characters. im not sure what it is. it might be how drastically his voice changes from role to role, or how costuming affects his figure, i dont know. but none of joeys characters look like each other. not really
jon's characters are always jon. paul, richie, trevor, daniel, gary, boy jerry? they look just different enough to seem connected, but not the same. maybe its because his mannerisms barely change- paul and richie both fiddle with their hands while theyre just standing, doing nothing else. maybe its because he just... acts them similarly. but even gary and paul, they feel like the same person. the only exception to this is wiggly, which comes down to vocals.
all of coreys characters are the same way. frank pricely and solomon lauter blend together in my brain like paul and richie do. angela too- despite her lack of characters. lex and grace are angela in a way that none of joeys characters really encompass.
pete and ted, despite being played by the same man, and being brothers, are so strangely distinct from each other. then, wilbur cross, ethan green, thrash and dan reynolds look nothing like the spankoffskis or eachother. all the way back to ron weasley and owen carvour. they dont look like joey. they sound like him, usually, owen and wilbur especially, but they dont really ever look like joey. i had no idea that dan reynolds or ron weasley were even played by him until i was told.
not sure what it is that makes him special. none of his roles- none of them- look like each other. even lauren, kim and curt, who all have a similar phenomenon. emma perkins, brooke and jingle (her elf from black friday) come to mind for lauren, while officer bailey, agent curt mega (of course) and mark chasity come to mind for curt. they just seem like the actor theyre being played by, and they seem like each other.
but joeys characters dont blend together like that in my mind.
#could 100% expand on this tbh#its almost like same face syndome in art#I FORGOT ABOUT BOY JERRY#fixed#like i feel like a lot of them have half sfs#bryce has it sometimes#rose and brenda look way similar#but her cop character doesnt at ALL#only exeption to corey is pokey#whcih again comes down to vocals 100%#anyway idk what this means tbh#my brain works funny sometimes#raspy rambles#starkid#hatchetfield#joey richter#npmd#tgwdlm

The Seventh Plague of Egypt painting in R1999 (1.9 spoilers)
Talking about the manifestation of the 1914 storm. (Callback also to my first post here)
As we know the Storm manifests as the embodiment of the critical point in the era, for example money becoming food as symbolic of the hedonism of the 1920s concluding with the Wall St Crash of 1929.
When the 1.9 PV dropped alot of people were confused on what exactly this moon shape was and chalked it to being the effects of the Storm and the 1914 syndome involved people turning into paintings.
Why this shape in particular?
This the Seventh Plague of Egypt by John Martin in 1832 depicting the scene in the Bible where Moses brings forth the ten plagues to force the Pharaoh to free the enslaved Israelites. The painting refers to the 7th where he brings forth fire and thunder down to the Earth. The building and structures to the right of the painting depict society and civilisation: so the painting can also be read as divine punishment over civilisation in a sense, the building of Thebes here serving as a testament to the peak of Egyptian civilisation at this point.
Back to R1999, the Storm through the painting presents itself almost as divine punishment on the world; in particular to Aperion and Vienna, while different have similarities in the way they praised their math and art as the height of their respective places, yet only to be struck by the chaos of war that ultimately destroys both places in the Storm.
What is also notable in relation to the painting is that Vertin stands in almost the same position as Moses in the painting: the far left and facing the 'Storm'. Again Vertin being allusions to biblical figures like Noah and Christ is not uncommon, but the fact that Moses in this particular painting is the one who brings forth the Ten Plagues parallels Vertin being in a way the bringer of the Storm, as the foreteller and Timekeeper able to predict the arrival of the Storm within 24 hours.
(Maybe more can be said on how the various Storm syndromes could mirror the Ten Plagues?)
(Conclusion: someone in BP is probably an art buff or something, though its interesting how they incorporate paintings and biblical theming in ways like this)
