Sweet potato sesame balls! Second time making these, bastardized off of this recipe:
https://jasmineandtea.com/sweet-potato-sesame-balls/
One smedium sweet potato. Sugar to taste, I used probs a cup. Glutinous rice flour until it makes a dough that doesn't stick too much. I started with 1 cup and added probably another whole cup in. One 16 oz bag of it was almost enough for two sweet potatos/batches, this time I was a bit short and it was a tad sticky in my hands but still cooked just the same. I couldn't mf find red bean paste so left that out sadly.
Baked the potatoes ar 425F for 1 hr 15 mins, let it cool a bit then peeled it. Threw that mf in with the sugar and glutinous rice flour and mashed it all together until it made more sense to use my hands and knead the dough until smooth. Make lil balls. Roll em in sesame seeds. Gently lower them into some oil in batches of 3-5 until they float up and then brown a bit. Yoink em and hashashashah eating them too hot!
I yielded 33 balls this time, didn't count the first time bc i was too busy shoving them in my face
#my cooking#sweet potato#mochi#ish lol#its a lot like mochi and ill probs try making these sans the sesame seeds and steamed instead next time#(not a fan of sesame seeds on mochi unless its warm and i like cold/cool mochi lol#i reheat these in the toaster oven)#obvi go to the original recipe for like. less nonsense and a more measured recipe but i like shit i can mainly eyeball/wing#and dont have a scale so idfk how much sweet potato she used bc the one she held up looked bigger than mine#but my dough needed way more flour to get to the right consistency so?????? no clue not smart enough in the kitchen
