probably an unpopular opinion but DBT/CBT is not the best treatment for depression.
#its a good treatment for standard depression or anxiett#anxiety*#but saying it can fix all issues#(especially chronic illness symptoms)#is fucked up?#i did 3 months of intensive dbt and cbt when i had literal encephalitis#because they kept telling me that it was just depression and anxiety exacerbating themselves#no girlie you can't treat adhd and encephalitis with dbt/cbt#behavioral activation will not work when i am having sleep attacks and seizures that drain me#providers need to stop saying that this is the answer when they haven't found the cause!#if its not working#trying harder will not make it work#you can't think your way out of a serious illness#also applies to severe standard depression#you have to treat that shit with medication before dbt/cbt will work#american medical system#yay!
