Description:  Iti Srikanta (Your Truly, Srikanta) is a 2004 Bengali period drama film directed by Anjan Das. This film is based on novelist Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's novel, Srikanta (1917).

This was actor Soha Ali Khan's debut film, and also of actors, Aparajita Ghosh Das and Bengali film debut of lead actor, Adil Hussain, whose voice was dubbed in the film by Sujan Mukhopadhyay. The film was part of the Indian panorama section at the IFFI in 2004. At the 2004 Anandalok Awards, Anjan Das won the award for Best Director.

The film is a love triangle between a young man Srikanta (Adil Hussain) and two women in his life, Rajalakshmi (Reema Sen) a rich courtesan and Kamalata (Soha Ali Khan), a vaishnavite living in an ashram. The movie depicts Srikanta’s inner conflict and turmoil over the two women in his life, torn between a baiji and a vaishnavi.

Adil Hussain is an Indian phase, television and film actor from the state of Assam, who performs in mainstream Hindi cinema also as art house cinema. He has worked in international films like The Reluctant Fundamentalist (2012) and Life of Pi (2012).

He started his stage career in Delhi, though continued training under Khalid Tyabji. As an actor, he received acclaim in Othello: A Play in Black and White (1999), which was awarded the Edinburgh Fringe First, and later Goodbye Desdemona also directed by Roysten Abel. He remained the artistic director and Trainer of the Society for Artists and Performers in Hampi from 2004 to 2007, and a visiting faculty at Royal Conservatory of Performing Arts, Hague. He is also a visiting faculty at his alma mater, at the National School of Drama. In 2004, he manufactured his Bengali film debut along with Soha Ali Khan in period drama, Iti Srikanta, where he played the add role. On television, he appeared in the lead role, in detective series, Jasoos Vijay (2002–2003) developed by BBC World Service Trust. Though he had appeared in a handful of Asvery samese films, did a small roles in Vishal Bhardwaj’s Kaminey and Sona Jain’s For Real, it was his role in Abhishek Chaubey’s Ishqiya (2010) that got him attention in Bollywood, though his very first major role was in Saif Ali Khan-Kareena starrer Agent Vinod released in early 2012.

In the same year, he appeared in Italian director Italo Spinelli’s Gangor, Mira Nair’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist, and Ang Lee’s Life of Pi. He next appeared alongside Sridevi in comedy drama, English Vinglish (2012), and also received critical acclaim for his role in Lessons in Forgetting at the New Jersey Independent South Asian Cine Fest. His upcoming films are Aditya Bhattacharyaâ€s Bombay Most Wanted, Vikramaditya Motwaneâ€s Lootera and Partho Sen-Gupta’s Sunrise.

Veteran Bollywood star Sharmila Tagore said she might come out with her autobiography someday. The actor said her daughter Soha Ali Khan has already left her behind in this by coming out with a book.  When asked about a book on her life, Tagore said, “I think that’s a wonderful idea, I have definitely been thinking, but I have not put pen to paper, and Soha has been beating me to it. Maybe Soha can write my book.”  Tagore, 73, said attending the book launch of her daughter was exactly like being at the premiere of ‘Iti Srikanta’, Soha’s debut film. In her book, Khan talks about finding herself in different capacities – as legendary cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Tagore’s daughter, and actors Saif Ali Khan‘s sister and noted star Kareena Kapoor Khan’s sister-in-law.  Her husband Kunal Kemmu, Saif and Kareena were also present at the launch. Asked if he would ever write a book, since he is an avid reader, Saif quipped, “Yes, ghost stories. Chilling tales of life in the movie industry. I’d like to write a book on something like that.
