Last week I was in the Miami area and visited several noteworthy gardens. Here are some pictures from Vizcaya Museum and Gardens. They were spectacular.

Giulia's network made sure to keep Nagisa and Skull informed about the Vongola situation. Going blind and unaware is a death sentence in the Mafia.

As one of the few surviving Skies of Vongola blood, she was in danger. Even if they don't know about her.

Beyond Sawada Tsunayoshi, Iemitsu’s civilian son, and the bastard Xanxus—who, despite his resemblance to Secondo, seems to lack enough blood to claim the Ring—there was his CEDEF apprentice too. Known by the codename Basil, his birth name being Bruno, he was 'officially' the bastard child of a brief 'fling' between Sawada Ieyoshi, Sadako's late older brother, and a Mist named Carlita. At least that what a little trusted few of Vongola's members were told by Nono and his Guardians, and the External Advisor.

Iemitsu eventually discovered his nephew’s existence, took the orphaned boy in, and trained him to kill and fight without much fuss.

Treated as a mere commodity, without even being openly acknowledged as a Vongola-blooded son due to his lesser flames.

Timoteo di Vongola was a man who regretted little and didn’t hesitate—bathing himself in blood and lives. He was accustomed to power and lead the Alliance for over 50 years, he wont survive and rule this far if he wasn’t a ruthless and heartless cunning old snake.

For all he loved to pretend kindness, the weasel wasn’t fooling anyone.

For all that Vongola gave Iemitsu their condolences, they were still glad to be rid of the threat his family was.

Perhaps Sawada Iemitsu was naive and delusional as his wife if he reallt though his actions won't have consequences.

The Mafia takes and takes, rarely gives.

A spineless civilian child won’t stand a chance. The little broken Sky needed to learn, not just to physically fight, but to survive, to understand the powers that made him and his loved ones pawns in their twisted vile games. His 'family' uses him like a puppet master, their toy and this love-starved child needed to understand and fight it.

This is the Mafia—cruel and unforgiving, filled with murderers and criminals. She expected nothing less than people being treated as less than human. She wasn’t naïve or clueless about what she had gotten herself into.

A clueless cowardly civilian child—naïve and trusting. He wouldn’t survive a day. He won’t die; the hitman and the old man won’t allow it. But his delusional friends probably will, those stupid children playing mafiosi and romantizing criminals wont get it until its too late and all of them are trapped or dead on the ground.

The Mafia had no patience for weakness. Either he adapted, learned to survive, or he would be killed without hesitation.

Kindness wouldn’t save him. His friends's delusions won’t save him, his 'father' didn't care if he was hurt and beaten as long he was useful to the Vongola.

They were arrogant men, believing they could do whatever they wanted without consequence. They took as they pleased, who and what they pleased, without hesitation or remorse.

Once they had made their intentions clear—they wanted to steal her people for themselves. Neomaris couldn't afford to be passive.

The Sun Arcobaleno was particularly annoying and violent, acting as if he could shoot and threaten her people as he pleased—especially since they were just "lackey’s family" in his eyes.

Maria Defina di Pescatore made her displeasure clear, as well as her lack of welcome for the hitman. She also reminded Don Vongola of his responsibility to ensure his little pet hitman didn’t alienate his allies or made more enemies for the Vongola.

Mortals are often sadistic, cruel, and greed little creatures, who love to harm each other for any reason, for money, power or pleasure—no different from any god she knows. The underworld wasn’t hard to adapt to.

She wouldn’t demand or expect ethics, morals, or kindness from them—not even a little. No one would help her; she could only help herself.

Even the Vindice were cruel and unfair, despite their claims of neutrality and law. If they gave her trouble, she could simply alert Lord Hades about those wayward undead.

It wasn’t uncommon in a world of blood inherited powers and bloodlines to send seducers to have Flame Active children with their targets. Harder to achieve with women, but still possible.

By revealing his, and his family, bloodline to the Vongola and the Mafia, Iemitsu failed to see the danger he posed to Nono. As CEDEF head, the blond wasn’t a threat for now—but his siblings and son were another matter entirely. And the Vongola were greedy; one Sky wasn’t enough when they could have them all.

Massimo Ranieri was a second son—brasher but smarter than the firstborn. The dark-haired man wasn’t set to inherit anything unless he took it for himself. Sawada Ieyoshi was eldest son of Ietsuna and Giotto’s heir in a twisted way, was an even greater threat than Sadako simply by being male.

Carlita had been his Mist Guardian, so she knew how to 'persuade' people's minds. With dirty blonde hair, light blue eyes, and a playful laugh, she was pretty young lady. It wasn’t hard to target an untrained civilian under her influence.

Just like that, her uncle Ieyoshi was the first collateral damage of Iemitsu’s reckless stunt and carelessness.

Massimo coveted the bloodline that could usurp Ricardo’s. Children were easier to control and mold into weapons and loyal tools—perhaps for the next CEDEF, perhaps for the Varia—to replace his more talented bastard brother as commander. Or maybe he wanted a girl?

Iemitsu had been 18 when he joined the family, Sadako was seven years older at 25, and Ieyoshi was already 32. Her mother hadn’t been malleable enough, and they needed more.

A bride—for him or his own future sons?

Out of his brothers, Massimo was the only one still unwedded. After his Primo-blooded bride 'death', Enrico Fermi was given another fiancée, a second cousin of Dino, Gabriella Cavallone, who died a few months before him in a failed abduction attempt. Perhaps it was another of the old man’s attempts to control the Cavallone, beyond sending his pet hitman to mold their last heir after Cavallone Nono's death.

Federico Ferrino was married off to the niece of the old Vittorio. Was the middle son searching for a better wife—someone to aid his claim?

Regardless, little Bruno being born with Rain instead of Sky was clearly a great disappointment.

Nevertheless, whatever they were, his plans never came to fruition anyway.

Massimo drowned not even eight years later. Bruno’s existence and Flames were discovered, and the Rain was placed in CEDEF under his uncle.

Trained from a young age and trapped in the family, unable to escape—for traitors are dealt with brutally—made to kill, fight, and sacrifice as nothing more than a tool for the family.

A test—to prove himself useful or be mercilessly discarded.

Here's the Siren of Tarent, Skuma ("Foam" or "Froth"), as she's stealing "the Fairest of them All" from the sirens' garden. Her tale, "the Siren wife", comes from Giuseppe Gigli's "Superstizioni, pregiudizi e tradizioni in Terra d'Otranto" (superstitions, prejudices and traditions in the Land of Otranto), which was included in Italo Calvino's "Italian Folktales". It's based on the more tragic legend around the Monacella at the Castello Aragonese, included in Arcangelo Valente's book "Vase vecchie e case nuove" (old houses and new houses). I used @gretlusky's tutorial on Deviantart for this picture.

I find it strange that in Tapis Rouge, all of these location and food names are all French, but shouldn’t they all be in German instead Since the original Snow White story has German origins? Although now that i think about it, i’m confused on why Epel’s hometown event pulls from Finnish culture rather than German as well 🤔

It’s true that the original Snow White story is German. However, Twst does not have a precedent of exclusively using the roots of the original story to inspire its world. For example, The Little Mermaid is Danish, but Azul’s surname and the eateries associated with him, La Grotta in the Coral Sea and the Mostro Lounge at NRC, sound Italian. The Lion King is basically Hamlet, an English tale, but with animals—but Sunset Savanna is distinctly very African. By that logic, Fairest City/Maquillaville doesn’t need to German just because Snow White is.

We should remember that Fairest City/Maquillaville is in the Shaftlands, which is a massive span of land encompassing many different environments. It’s been equated by fans as being “twisted Europe”. However, the locations aren’t necessarily one-to-one of particular countries. For example, Epel’s hometown, Harveston, isn’t simply inspired by Finnish culture, but by a blend of Nordic cultures. This is also true of other places—for example, Sunset Savanna has onsen tamago (hot springs eggs), which is a Japanese food item, not African.

Twst never 100% copy pastes real world cultures, and it never claims to. Instead, it takes an eclectic approach and tries to combine elements of the real world and its Disney source material to come up with something truly unique.

Destination: Finland

Lando always went on a ski trip with his friends during the winter break and this year he invited you to go along. You started on the easier slopes, as you both had to get the hang of skiing again, but by the end of the day you were tackling some of the more difficult ones along with your group of friends. Afterwards, the group settled down in the ski lodge with cups of hot chocolate around a crackling fire. You all spent a few hours joking around and catching up after not having all been together for a while. To finish off the day, you and Lando went alone to the sauna where you had the chance to decompress together before heading to bed. All in all, the day was well spent and you asked Lando when you would be able to come back even though you knew the answer would be next year.

During the winter break, you and Oscar did not want to travel too far from his home in Australia, so you decided to go to the nearby country of New Zealand. You had no idea where you would find space for it in your apartment, but you knew you would cherish the memories it brought to mind.

To Carlos, it would not be a good vacation without some golf. So, you both decided to head to Miami where you could find the best of what both of you loved doing, golf and relaxing on the beach. While Carlos golfed in the mornings, you relaxed on the beachfront balcony of the house you were staying in. And during the afternoons, you would both head to the beach to relax in the sand and waves. One morning you decided to spice things up and have Carlos try to teach you to golf, but after accidentally hitting the ball into someone else’s golf cart, you quickly scrapped that idea. Your favorite memory of the trip was definitely the day you spent completely together on a snorkeling trip to see a nearby coral reef.

When Lewis wasn’t racing, he still loved to be doing something adventurous. Lucky for him, you shared his love of an adrenaline rush. So the perfect destination was Dubai. Every day was filled with excitement, from riding ATVs though the desert to eating at luxurious restaurants in the city. Lewis even convinced you to go skydiving with him at the end of your trip which was an experience you knew you would never forget. There was never a dull moment when you and Lewis traveled together and you knew that once this vacation ended, you would already be planning for another.

Everyone knew one of Daniel’s favorite places was Austin, Texas. So when he had a week off after the race in Texas, Daniel of course convinced you to stay with him on vacation there for the next few days. He took you to his favorite bars and barbecue restaurants to savor the food. He also took you to a ranch where you got to ride horses through the American countryside. On the last day of the trip, the two of you decided to go to a country music concert and dance the night away. Both of you loved music and so this was the perfect memory to end what was a great few days of exploring the Texan landscape. And of course you had to get a souvenir cowboy hat to remember the trip by.

Destination: Mexico

As you and Yuki are both foodies, you decided to go to a place with one of your favorite cuisines, Mexico. You arranged to travel throughout the country to try different foods from various regions. Between meals, you would spend time seeing some of Mexico’s most scenic beaches and visiting some of the tourist destinations like Chichen Itza. The best part, however, was getting to spend so much uninterrupted time with your boyfriend who was always away from home. Though you knew Yuki lived the fast life, all you wanted to do with him was relax. And what better place to do it than in such a warm and beautiful country. As for your favorite food you tried? There were too many good dishes to choose!

Alex Albon

Destination: Phuket

Alex was thrilled when you agreed to go to the country he raced for. When you got there, he excitedly showed you around all of the sights and took you to eat his favorite local food. After a few days of frantically touring Alex’s favorite places, you both decided that it wasn’t truly a vacation unless you relaxed a little bit. So, you spent the rest of the week at the beach in each other’s arms, just savoring the other’s company. There were a few splash fights in the pool and the time where you jokingly pushed Alex off of the boat, but otherwise you spent your time relaxing on the sand. Thai sunsets were truly like no other and you knew you would savor your memories for years to come.

Logan Sargeant

Destination: USA

When you realized that Logan hadn’t traveled much around his own country outside of Florida, you immediately decided that you were going on a road trip to fix that. The plan was that you would go up the east coast, stopping in all of the major cities to see the sights. From Carolina beaches to the nation’s capital, there were surely a lot of things to do. And when you had a boyfriend who drove cars for a living, of course you got to the be the passenger princess. Every time a road sign showed something that sounded cool, you insisted that you stop. Your personal favorite destination was New York, where you got to show Logan a lot of the famous landmarks that everybody would recognize. Once you hit Boston, you decided to head back south to his home state and warmer weather. You would cherish these memories forever.
