searching 'peplum' films on youtube should give you like, so many of these films

that aside, I'd recommend looking up Steve Reeve/other popular sword and sandal actors' acting credits and checking out whatever sounds most fun. they've got everything. You like biblical antiquity? They got biblical antiquity! You want the Trojan War? They got the Trojan War! just. be sure uhhhhhhhhh to watch them some of them with a critical eye.

last book: that is not fanfic? 😂 The last book I've read is Persuasion (and yes, it was my first time). I'm currently reading Emma and a very Italian book written by the same awesome author who tagged me for this game (@hermiola 💜)

last movie: I can't tell you the last 'new' movie I watched at the cinema because I'm a bit ashamed (it's a Xmas movie made by two Italian youtubers, but what don't we do for our kids?). Last movie I watched on my couch, though, is Underworld: Rise of the Lycans (and yes, I don't feel fine about it 🤣)

last TV show: I'm watching THERE SHE GOES for the first time and I've just re-watched Around the world in 80 days. Apparently if you go on twitter and search the tag Santocielo, which is the title of the movie, you can find all of this but still. It's a comedy movie made by a well known comedy duo around here, and this all started when some italian good omens fans noticed the similarities in the first poster for the movie.

Admittedly this all started as a joke, but people started saying it was gonna be italian Good Omens and tagging the actors, Ficarra & Picone, as well as Neil Gaiman and the GO actors (Micheal Sheen for sure, that ive seen around that is).

I’ve been itching for some jjba content, so here’s a self indulgent Goodfellas inspired Bucciarati/Reader fic. If you’ve seen the Scorsese film, worry not, content will not be 1:1. If you haven’t, I strongly recommend it! This is your slight spoiler warning, at least for the relationship dynamic in the film. If you like going into cinema completely blind like I do, I’d bookmark this for later.

This is the first time I’ve officially made something like this since I was in middle school… kinda the first time I’ve formatted on either of these sites as well, so bear with me. ALSO, not proofread… I don’t know what I’m doing. I never write stuff like this. If you’re insane and w a n t to give writing feedback/grammar corrections/tumblr formatting tips, by all means go ahead.

Prologue (Bucciarati)

“She’s from Sorrento.” The boy said to him nonchalantly, as if mentioning the weather or some other trivial fact.

Bruno wasn’t sure why Mista had pulled him aside after their usual dinner meeting, but he assumed these three words were the easiest way for the gunslinger to break the ice. For his sake, he was willing to swim.

“Who?” He asked, stopping to lean against The Lebeccio’s back alley brickwork. Bucciarati had never paid much attention to the civilians his team members mentioned in passing, let alone where they were from. It would be too time consuming; that level of care was reserved for those close to him. Despite this, his gut was telling him two undeniable facts about whatever was going to transpire: (1) it was turning Mista into a lovesick fool, and (2) the kid was planning on getting him involved somehow.

“The girl I’ve been complaining about. Lucia.” Mista answered, confirming his first suspicion. “I’ve been trying to sleep with her for a month. She won’t go out with me alone.”

“No.” He replied bluntly, already knowing what was coming next. Ask Abbacio or Narancha or someone who likes that kind of thing.

Mista whined, “No, what?”

“No, what?” The man mocked with a bit more edge in his voice than intended. He still cared for his friend, despite his frustration. After a quick roll of his eyes, he shifted his weight back to its natural position, getting ready to take his leave. “Do you think I’m stupid, Mista?”

“Wait, hear what I have to say.” The other spat out, scrambling up to stand in Bucciaratis' path.

Bruno crossed his arms with a sigh, leaning back against the wall with what can only be described as a sense of reluctant annoyance. “Okay,” he breathed, “what?”

“She won’t go out with… you know… me alone. Prejudiced or something.” Mista began, acting as if he picked flowers for a living. “And they don’t even know our line of work! Being cautious? You fucking belive that? In this day and age? What is this world coming to?”

Yes, Bruno thought to himself, I do believe that. I’ve seen you kill multiple people. You look like you’ve killed multiple people.

Mista continued ranting, “She won’t go out without her girlfriend, but we have to make a good impression, so you come along for her friend-” So that’s why he’s asking me, I’m the only one who’ll act right.

“See? I knew it.” He cut the younger boy off, cocking his head to the side.

Mista babbled with frustration, “What the fuck is wrong with that?” His body language told Bruno this was important. He was acting childish, yes, but time with the young adult had given Bucciarati enough insight to know this meant he was running on passion alone.

“When even is this?” He asked, inflicting no change in his voice.

Eagerly, Mista responded, “Tomorrow night.”

Bruno sighed, reaching into his pocket to grab something. “I’m meeting Polpo.”

“You could meet Polpo. Come early and then go.” It didn’t seem that the boy would let this go without a fight, but of course, this had been expected.

Fine. If you insist. But I’m leaving the second I need to be out the door. “Why do you do this?” He let out, pinching the bridge of his nose with one hand, gripping the small notebook with the other.

“Don’t give me that- I'm asking for a favor. Please, help me out… A month!” The boy continued, keeping the same sense of urgency in his cadence.

Bruno found a smile creeping to his face, head shaking in disbelief. “I don’t understand you-“

“She’s beautiful!” Mista interjected, “Her family lives in Sorrento. These girls have money. You may wind up with a big score.”

“You with your mouth- that is not how you talk about a lady.” He scolded, pursing his lips while flipping the small book open.

Mista grinned watching the man uncap a pen, Bucciarati was putting him in his calendar. Despite everything, he was right there when needed most. “So you’ll come?”

“I can’t guarantee better behavior than you’d get out of Narancha,” he sighed, snapping the calendar closed, “but I’ll be there. If that’s what you want, Mista.”

”I owe you big time!” He grinned, playfully patting Bruno on the shoulder before turning to sprint away. Lord, you have no idea.

The cozy, family owned restaurant was an appropriate choice of venue, all things considered. It was dim, but not dark enough to obscure lines of sight. It was quiet to accommodate their conversation, but hosted enough chatter to make the silence feel natural. Most importantly, though, it was outside of Pasiones territory, meaning chances of recognition were slim. The reason Bucciarati had been invited in the first place was for his ability to keep a low profile, which would mean nothing if they were treated like anything but the average customer. This was the best solution. However, this also meant that Bruno would be forced to leave much earlier for his meeting with Polpo… something that had been clawing at his nerves since meeting the others at the door.

Introductions had been short. While Bruno was obsessing over how he would phrase his reports later that evening, Mista was awkwardly introducing his date who awkwardly introduced her friend. There was no time to dwell on this, as they had been called to a table almost immediately. The couple walked hand in hand, leaving the stragglers behind them, shoulder to shoulder.

Naturally, the boys seated themselves with an optimal vantage point, eyes towards the doors and ears tuned for anything. Between nervous glances at his watch, Bruno observed as his friend tried to impress the girl to his left, rolling his eyes at behaviors a little too intimate for a first date. It was then that he remembered the person sitting to his right, and he adjusted his attention towards her for a moment… before realizing he didn’t remember her name. He leaned back, looking at his watch once more to play off the change in his composure. What small talk could interest them at this point, anyway?

It’s not that Bruno had tried to forget the girl's name. It just wasn’t important. He didn’t plan on needing to use it again once Lucia decided to indulge in some alone time. Besides, he was excruciatingly aware he was just being used for a layer of security. He wasn’t here out of romantic interest, there was no reason to assume she didn’t feel the same. Bruno was aware this wasn’t his best behavior, but all things considered, that was the least of his concerns. He didn’t need to be charming, he just needed not to be a capo. Honestly, he was still a bit upset he had to be here to begin with.

I have a meeting with Polpo around 11:00, and here I am a backup guy for Mista.

The gunslinger leaned over, whispering in Lucia's ear. Whatever he said, it seemed to have been the exact thing the girl wanted to hear. The curtain fell, and she instantly leaned into his charm. Bruno, however, retained the same level of interest in his date for the entirety of the evening. Of course he noticed the boredom in her eyes, she was stuck in the same boat he was, after all. Regardless, he couldn’t wait to get away.

“What did you say you do for work?” The girl asked him dryly, an attempt if nothing else.

Bringing a glass to his lips, Bruno kept the reply short. “I didn’t.”

He ordered dessert while they were finishing dinner.

“So how did you two meet?” Lucia asked at one point in the night.

After exchanging a glance with Mista, the capo responded bluntly, “It doesn’t matter.”

While they drank wine, he asked for the check.

“What are you doing?” Mista finally confronted him, squinting and raising his shoulders.

Bruno pointed at his watch, standing up from his seat. “I got to go.”

“We just got here.” The boy exclaimed, looking between the girls for reassurance.

Bucciarati clenched his jaw, they had already discussed this. “I got that thing.”

“Just stay a few more and we’ll leave together- we don’t want to go out one at a time.” Mista begged.

Gently, Bruno extended his arm to his date, signaling it was time to go. “I have a prior engagement, Mista.” He snapped once more.

Besides, didn’t you want to be alone with the girl?
