another smutty chapter 21 preview

yep, chapter 21 of Juniper & Starlight is gonna for sure be up either laaaaaate tonight or early tomorrow. and i'm having too much fun with it. so here's another sneak peek of June and Astarion's first night together.

warning: Astarion being a damn menace ahead.

She’s close. She’s so, so close. She’s–

Astarion abruptly pulls away, leaving June teetering on the edge of ecstasy.

“W-why?” she sobs as he removes her hands from his hair and stands up. 

His mouth glistens with the proof of her arousal as he grins. And the man has the nerve to giggle - actually giggle - at her anguish. “Oh, my little Juniper tree, you didn’t think you were getting off that easy, did you?”

“I hoped.” 

“That’s adorable.” He tucks a loose ringlet behind June’s ear. “But we have all night, and no one to interrupt us, for once. I promised you a night you’ll never forget, and I intend to deliver.” 

‘Damn you,” June mumbles as she closes her eyes, tilting her head back against the tree as she tries to catch her breath.

“My, my! June, was that a swear? Did you just curse?” 

“‘Damn’ ain’t that bad,” she says. “Especially when it’s deserved.”

She hears Astarion giggle again, but this time he sounds farther away.  June cracks her eyes open, searching, and finds him spreading one of his new quilts out on the grass. He turns to face her, and his expression changes from mischievous and amused to pure, wicked hunger. His red eyes are dark and gleaming as he reaches out a hand, beckoning for June to come closer.

She pushes herself off the tree and moves toward him on unsteady legs. The tight coil in her lower belly is slowly easing, but the need within her is still on the verge of painful. She stops at the edge of the quilt when Astarion raises a hand. The glint of fangs when he smirks at her makes June shiver despite the summer heat. 

“On your knees, darling,” he commands. 

June obeys, kneeling on the quilt in front of him. Her mouth waters as she watches his nimble hands reach for the buckle on his belt. She’s seen the things those hands can do. She knows their swiftness and precision. He could have his belt off and his laces undone in the blink of an eye if he wanted. But no. Astarion takes his time, his eyes never leaving June’s face as he slides the blet through its loops and drops it onto the grass. Then he begins on the laces at the front of his trousers, where she can clearly see the outline of his hardened length. 

Astarion may be grinning at her, but June can see the spark of want in his eyes. The thin thread of restraint. He’s torturing himself, too, just for the sake of stoking her need higher and higher. 

What a cruel, beautiful, infuriating man.

14. is there a sound that drives them crazy? ( like the sound of nails on a chalkboard, styrofoam rubbing together, cardboard boxes, etc?)

l'aiha actually really hates the sound of snow crunching underfoot! it irritates the shit out of her. it might be slightly informed by the fact she hates snow and the cold in general, but trekking around in coerthas and garlemald were incredibly unpleasant for her, and that sound didn't help. :'D

aside from that, she doesn't like it when people chew with their mouth open, or tap their pencils on desks and tables and such... lots of little every day noises can get on her nerves when she's in a bad mood. she has extremely sharp hearing, so everything is intensified in a way that's sometimes difficult to deal with. she's learned a weird trick where she 'charges' her aether, internally, without releasing it—this is something she learned as one of her exercises to help it not stagnate, but it also produces an internal sound, not unlike blood rushing, that allows her to 'drown out' irritating external sounds.

y'shtola can visibly see when l'aiha does this because of her aethersight, and thinks it's INCREDIBLY funny. especially in situations where someone is talking and pissing her off, and l'aiha just starts ignoring them by churning her own aether. similar comical effect to when somebody tells the guy on the tv to shut up and mutes them.

tangentially related, but i think l'aiha has a bit of an auditory processing disorder too. she can't mentally 'filter' sounds based on importance, so she hears everything at the same volume—and because her actual hearing is so good, that's a lot of stuff! it means it can be hard to reach her in loud or crowded spaces, but it also makes her REALLY GOOD at picking up new sounds through the din.

for example, she can hear people moving even in the middle of busy conversations; so she's really good at picking up sneaky intruders even at moments when she should be too busy to hear them. or, an example based on my own life with an auditory processing disorder: she can hear linkpearls and other electronic alerts go off, even when others in a conversation don't. (the number of times i've let people know a timer went off mid-conversation because i was the only one who heard it LOL.)

Sometimes I read what other humans post under that hashtag “csa survivor”. A few days ago I found this poll.

The question was why didn't / won't you report and my answer was “think too much time has passed”. It made me think because I don't know how much time can pass until you can report something like this. It turns out that you can report that (I'm going to say it now.....)...that I can report sexual abuse from when I was a child (why is that so damn hard) until 30 years after it ended. But and here comes the big but (I like big butts and I can not lie....I'm fine....soooo fine) it starts to count when you turn 21 and not before. That means I can still report. I have no evidence because you know....why would I. But I could. It's good to know. It's stuff like that why I love this platform so much :) It makes me think and pushes me into a direction whenever needed.

I'm listening to music on shuffle right now and Vessel sings “it's too late for meeeeee....it's toooo laaaaaate”. Not helping.

I did something else. I checked if there are any support groups for survivors. There seems to be something?! They have a pamphlet that says “yes we have that” but then you look on their website and it says otherwise. But you can ask them anything at least that is what they are saying so I could ask.

I feel like I achieved something gigantic but I just looked stuff up that I was too afraid of looking up.

sunday - monday

day off tomorrow/rn.

and i am making my life harder by staying up toooo laaaaaate. so that's going to make this short, i've been focusing on fixing guitar sounds for this one song today, and when that's good it'll be done at least, i think, because there's a fun idea in one of the sounds i'm married to here at least.

okay, i'm making the sounds a little harsher in the 3k range, hopefully that will make them more cool sounding, to me, at least. i think it will, hopefully it won't absorb too much of the other frequencies though.

messing with it a little more... i would really like to sleep soon though. maybe i will just call it quits after this and listen tomorrow and see what i think?

other news... no other news, nothing really happened, i found out another co-worker of mine is quitting, i think today could have been his last day or it's soon, at least, sad to see him go, i like him and i barely see him. i like all of them honestly, they're all pretty nice to me and we all seem to have one another's back.

i also did put down more roach bait/insecticide, while waiting for this man to come and fumigate the kitchen... that's not even where all of them are, but this place is just old and the plumbing sucks so there's spots in the walls they really like, not just that, but the general moisture in the walls makes this place rather humid i think. unpleasant. it's always hot and weird in here, so bugs just seem to like it... saw some crickets in here today too.

the roaches seem to be enjoying the bait and it also seems to be killing them. so this is a win, hopefully it can also do damage to their egg cycle too, in some way.

anyway, the song is done now (i think).

this is one that's proven to be pretty hard to get right but some simple stuff has kind of come in handy w/ it, so hopefully i listen to it later and like, don't hate it. i hope.

fried rice is. a really good thing to know how to make.

like, all you need is leftover rice and whatever else you happen to have in your fridge, and bam ya got lunch.

it's an exercise in just throwing things together to see what works. no recipe, just doing and learning by practice. it's good for learning how to eyeball measurements, and how to guess when everything's hot n' done.

also it's super tasty :)
