Would the muses want kids?
Maybe one day but definitely not now: Astor, Ganondorf
Combining these because they essentially have the same view on this. Both of them are certainly not looking for spawns at the moment. There are too many plates spinning to toss a damn baby into the mix. That said, once their goals are reached and they’re at a comfortable place, they could be drawn to the idea of an heir to continue their legacy/goals. Both of them essentially see their children as an extension of themselves, though Ganondorf has more room to grow on this depending on his partner and circumstance. It’s not a make it or break it thing for either of them.
Yes, always wanted at least one: Rhoam, Revali, Link
Rhoam always wanted a child, though he was content with one following the birth of Zelda. Revali, too, always presumed that he would have a child one day, who would no doubt be as magnificent as himself. Link knows that he may not be able to have a child due to his duty, but he would like to be a father one day, if he can manage it.
Yes, multiple! A big family would be wonderful: Sonia
Sonia always wanted numerous kids and would have gladly adopted in addition to any children she gave birth to. Unfortunately, she only has one before her death.

Mipha!
Mipha… where do I start!?
First impression:
I thought she was a very pretty fish-lady, and was instantly blown away by how romantic her memory with Link was (some poeople already know, but before I played the game I looked at fan art and stuff and really liked the concept of ZeLink people were drawing - it must be a canon ship if people are so intense about it right? and I almost always fall for the canon ship in a piece of media. So I got into the game wanting to rescue the princess Link was in love with. Turns out that princess wasn’t Zelda, and from my first impression I was like ‘oh ok, so we’re not avenging zelda then… we’re avenging fish’
Impression now:
She was so wonderful why did she have to die!! Link loved you, your design is so cool, why did you die!! A strong powerful (dagnam play AoC and you’ll see what I mean) warrior princess who loved her people and her family and Link. what a woman she was (and is in aoc).
Favorite moment:
Okay, so I know its a bit basic and there are some awesome moments in AoC (like the date her and link so on) but the first memory, the first time you’re introduced to her, it still gives me chills. Mipha's touch is and always will be my fave. I love it.
Idea for a story:
The tensions between Hyrule and Zora’s domain bubble over, leading to a siege or something, and link betrays Hyrule to join Mipha and bring the war to an end.
Ooh another one: Link tries to run away from the duty assigned to him and is forcibly kept at the castle by Rhoam but the champions help zelda and link and they leave central hyrule to try and figure out the various powers without the added trapped in the castle stuff. Mipha rescues link from a tower like rapunzal effectively.
Unpopular opinion:
Link should have rescued her instead being with Zelda during the calamity. She was strong and could battle effectively, but if Link had gone with her, they would have dominated water blight as a badass couple. If link and mipha had defeated water blight, they could have joined the rest of the champions (due to the sheikhah slate being available for teleportation), weaken Gannon through attacking the blights and then go and kick is butt in the castle. What a good happy ending that is! (I think I just described AoC a little bit…) anyway.
Favorite relationship:
LINK AND MIPHA THEYRE SO CUTE TOGETHER AND SO BADASS AND I LOVE THEM.
They are the perfect couple, and the proposal armour is just so sweet and I adore them both :)
Favourite headcanon:
Oooh. There’s a lot to pick from…
The symbols on the Zora armour represent Link and Mipha’s marriage, and tying the families together:
the Rhombus with the luminous stone is what I head canon Link’s family sigil/ crest to be:
Tumblr media
And obviously the three cresents are Mipha’s family crest
Tumblr media
And here we see them combined, with a white stone in the middle
Tumblr media
White gems are often related to hope (link), healing (mipha), unity, and wholeness. So a unity between the rhombus and the crescents and the ideas of healing and hope? Am I reaching. Yes. Do I also love this head canon? Yes.
2) Link understands Zoran (the Zora language) but can’t speak it very well on account of the fin movement and whistling required. Mipha regularly says ‘I love you’ or other comforting things via subtle tail or fin movements when in company. He has little hand gestures he uses, sign shorthand I guess, to tell her the same.
3) the champions all knew about Mipha and Link's relationship. because their little found family deserves to have a fun time trying to set them up on dates or make them do things together, so that even though things are tense between hyrule and the domain, the two can spend time together.

@purpledemoncat asked me for headcanons about my Master Kohga’s Nana (also named Master Kohga as described in the linked post), so here we go.
Was her father’s third child, but her much older sister and brother were both killed before she was born. Her father was already nearly 100 years old and very much wanted his heir to be a child of his, so he remarried and had Nana (hnnngh it feels weird to call a child “gramma” but I don’t know her pre-Kohga name and probably wouldn’t post it even if I did, for reasons).
Growing up with such a much older father, who was pretty strict about training her to be Master someday, definitely influenced her personality. However, her mother (who was around 40 at the time of Nana’s birth—big age gaps don’t bother Yiga and Sheikah very much since they live longer than Hylians—look at Robbie and Jerrin) did soften her a bit.
As in, unlike Great-Granddad, sometimes Nana would let herself have fun! She not only let the Clan have festivals and parties for morale and tradition-continuing purposes, she’d join in with the dancing and drinking and game-playing! She was very good at the Yiga equivalent of Go and was fond of smoking safflina in her later years. She was also a fan of big jangly jewelry (at least to wear around the Complex). However, when it came to Clan business, Nana was no-nonsense and hard-working.
Once when Nana was around 25, she and an older cousin were coming back across the snowy Highlands after a scouting mission together that this cousin had asked to be partnered with her for. When they were almost home, this guy just casually declared that when her father died he intended to Challenge her for the Master position. She uh. Well she immediately kicked his feet out from under him, slapped a binding talisman on him, dragged him by his leg to the nearest cliff, and dangled him over it by a hand around his neck. She told him if she thought he’d be better than her for the Clan she wouldn’t be doing this. But since he’d announced his intent so smugly, as though he wanted to be Master for power, she really couldn’t allow it. Did he understand that? That he should only Challenge her if he intended to take responsibility?
Nana Ascended to become Master Kohga at 31. Nobody Challenged her! How about that!
Favorite plant-type food after bananas? Hearty radish! Favorite meat? Marinated venison tataki, specifically from deer taken on Satori Mountain (with the marinade containing apple juice from the Mountain too)!
Learned SO many powerful arcane techniques from her father and aunts and uncles. Her signature one was self-duplication, and she could make two more of herself. Full-bodied copies like we see Maz Koshia and her grandson do, not spirit-y ones like Impa’s. She’s the one who taught our Best Guy!
Current Koh’s prized demon carver was her favorite weapon too. He’s very proud to have and use it.
Nana married shortly after becoming Master Kohga but didn’t have her only son until six years later. This wasn’t for lack of trying. Nana and Granddad’s relationship was pretty intense. He was younger than her, a Blademaster, and it was one of those “we knew each other when we were kids and I didn’t pay attention to you but now suddenly I noticed you grew up hot” kinda things, ha. They were courting when she Ascended and he was her Right Hand until his death. (Before her grandson was born; he only knows of Granddad from stories.)
Wore her hair in twin poufs as seen here. And she was always a chubby gal. It hid a really strong core; as suggested by that lil’ story above she could flip big dudes over her head. Woman was 6’2” and broad and no slouch in the fighting department.
Once led a raid on Castle Town itself, back when the King before Rhoam was reigning. Which was ballsy as hell. They did it in disguise of course, and via stealth, and got away with all kinds of nice luxury stuff and plenty of rupees.
However in general, especially as she got older, Nana was less about straight-up raid attacks and more about shady dealings with Hylians willing to sell crops at low prices. Under her, the Clan got an amazing deal on rice by blackmailing a farmer near Hateno Village. She was big on playing the longer game and strategizing to improve the Clan’s well-being while not giving away its location, operatives, or anything else. Most Hylians caught up in her web of transactions had no idea they were involved with the Yiga—just as the Clan had operated for millennia, but more ambitious than ever.
Speaking of being protective of the Clan, Nana was very strict about dealing with intruders getting near Karusa Valley, especially if they disrespected the frog statues dotting the areas all around Gerudo Canyon and the Highlands, or strayed too close to the usually-magic-hidden gates leading up to the Clan's Complex. If obfuscation and gentler dissuasion didn't work on those stumbling into Clan territory, better to make sure the bodies would turn up somewhere farther away looking like something other than a vicious sickle made them. More rarely, if she was angry enough, Nana would say that a nosy group of travelers ought to be reduced to one, who could go home and remind others of the "wicked spirits" inhabiting Satori Mountain and the Highlands.
Nana was a good mother in many ways but really put a lot of pressure on her son to learn everything she knew about martial, arcane, and leadership skills. After Granddad died, Nana even chose Dad’s best friend Chisao as her Right Hand instead of him, for a few entire years, to drive home the point that she thought he ought to be taking his responsibilities as her Heir more seriously. Luckily Dad really wasn’t hurt by this—but this is a post about Nana, not him, so more stuff about him will have to wait!
By contrast, Nana absolutely doted on her grandson. Sure she was determined to also teach him as much as she could, but she was readier with the bananas than the sticks with her handsome smart talented [pre-Kohga name redacted] than she was with her son, ha. Definitely the “oh no the child came back from hanging out with gramma and now he’s hyper and knows how to be two of himself” kind of grandparent.
All in all Nana was incredibly proud to serve the Clan as its Master Kohga and did so for 65 years. She died at 96, more annoyed about it than anything because that’s really not that old for someone with Sheikah Yiga blood. Kohga was 9, his father 59. She was quite beloved by her people and left behind a legacy of relative prosperity (as in, the Clan was and is still marginalized and had all the disadvantages that came with their position outside Hyrulian society, but everyone was fed etc etc which was not always guaranteed, y’know?).
Shortly before she passed, she warned her son that although the King of the time was old and unlikely to do much against the Clan, his young son Rhoam had "the attitude of snot and a fire in his belly to prove himself. You'd best be wary of him." But that's information for another time because it's getting off topic again and this post is already very long!
So that's some stuff about Nana Master Kohga! Her grandson loves her very much and still talks to her sometimes. <3

Robbie's memoirs
First entry: Let me start from the beginning. It was 100 years ago... Calamity Ganon had already swallowed Princess Zelda. Dr. Purah and I had already taken Link to the Shrine of Resurrection and left him to recover. Dr. Purah and I departed for Kakariko Village, where we left Lady Impa... All three of us couldn't stay together, of course. We couldn't risk Calamity Ganon getting all of us in one strike. If that happened, there'd be no one left to deliver Princess Zelda's message to Link when he recovered and woke up... We had to ensure at least one of us would be able to talk to him. So Dr. Purah and I set out to survive as long as we could. We were lucky... We found large amounts of ancient energy in the Necluda and Akkala regions. We could continue our research. Just as we had in Hyrule Castle, we could again set ourselves to finding some way to seal Calamity Ganon away. We decided who would go where in the only fair way: rock, paper, scissors. I set out for Akkala soon after. [Robbie doesn't say that he won - my personal headcanon is that this means he lost]
[[More*]]
Second entry: I was all set to go to Akkala, but first I decided to go with Dr. Purah to the ancient energy source in Necluda. ...Actually, that implies I had any choice. Dr. Purah laid on a pretty heavy guilt trip when I suggested her going alone. "In a world as dangerous as ours, are you seriously asking me to travel alone?" She's so darned pushy... Anyway, Dr. Purah promised Lady Impa that they'd meet again someday, then she and I set out from Kakariko Village... But not before loading a cart with the Guidance Stone Dr. Purah had been using at Hyrule Castle. We traveled for some time. South of the Pillars of Levia, across Lake Siela, and through Blatchery Plain... Then we came upon Fort Hateno. Link had battled an army of Guardians there, and it was where he'd been defeated. A master swordsman such as Link, who'd impressed King Rhoam enough to be made Princess Zelda's personal knight... Well, even someone like that has their limits. I'm sorry, Link... I spent so much of my life researching the Guardians... Even with all my knowledge, I wasn't able to give you the weapons or power you needed to succeed. Those were my thoughts as I looked upon the broken husks of the Guardians strewn around Fort Hateno.
Third entry: Lost in my thoughts, I didn't notice that Dr. Purah had slipped away. I knew Hateno Village wasn't much farther along the road, and that the Calamity had barely touched that area... So I felt safe letting her continue on her own. We parted ways without even saying good-bye, I suppose. Stirring myself back to action, I set out on my own journey back toward Kakariko Village.
Fourth entry: With Dr. Purah "escorted" safely to Hateno Village, it was time for me to head to my new home in Akkala. I returned to Kakariko Village to collect the remaining Guidance Stone, then I immediately set out for Akkala. I made my way through the Lanayru Wetlands and headed toward Ternio Trail. I knew that once I cross the Akkala Span, I would officially be in Akkala. The autumn leaves brought some joy to my spirit as I crossed Shadow Pass then headed north from Ordorac Quarry. Akkala is known for its long stretches of nothing. I'd set out hoping that would still be the case... I was attacked by a Guardian here and there as I went, but remember, I'd spent my life studying them. Dispatching them individually was no challenge at all. In time, I reached the lighthouse in Akkala. What a perfect place to keep an eye on the monsters out there. I unloaded my Guidance Stone and settled into my new home.
Fifth entry: And so began my life of solitary research... I knew I had to continue to research the ancient soldier gear for Link... He could wake at any time. I quickly settled on a routine. First, I would carry the blue flame from Tumlea Heights. Next, I would melt the ancient materials, refine the result, and then shape it into ancient soldier gear. It's difficult to say how much progress I made on my research. The routine demanded so much focus, day after day. But then I had a clever thought! I realized I could automate the entire refinement process! It took some significant work, but I was able to successfully remodel the Guidance Stone. Thanks to my effort, it can refine any ancient material inserted into it and offer something in return. I named this machine Cherry, after the first girl I ever loved...
Sixth entry: My research didn't end with the creation of Cherry, not at all! I realized that if she was able to refine the ancient materials... There was no reason she couldn't also manufacture ancient soldier gear, too! Anyone could make ancient equipment! I also decided then that I wanted to be able to five her a voice so she could speak. I was filled with ambition then, but it was no easy task to make my dreams a reality. Automating the manufacturing process was extremely difficult. It took me decades to figure it out. I'll spare the details of all the things that went wrong... But I will say it was complex enough that I had to put my desires to remodel Cherry on the back burner for a while.
Seventh entry: Days and months came and went. Before I even realized it, I'd reached the ripe age of 90. I would have been lost in my work even then... But around that time, a young woman named Jerrin arrived. She'd first trained with Dr. Purah, then Lady Impa had sent her to aid me. She quickly proved herself quite capable. She carried the blue flame from Tumlea Heights and even reworked and improved my designs for Cherry. The very fact that she had trekked all the way from Kakariko Village alone proved she was no ordinary girl. Her intellect, her spirit... In hindsight, is it any surprise that we eventually ended up married?
Eighth entry: Thanks to Jerrin's redesign, Cherry was soon crafting ancient soldier gear perfectly and speaking beautifully. She spoke better than any machine I'd ever heard. It would have been hard to tell she wasn't a native Hylian. If I said, "Good morning," she'd respond with a sweet, "Good morning, Robbie." And she was helpful! "Cherry, where'd I leave my book?" "It's the third book from the right on the second shelf, Robbie." She also knew to ask if she needed something. "Robbie, could you increase the furnace heat a little?" I'd always go personally to fetch more blue flame from Tumlea Heights. I didn't realize our interactions hurt someone... That someone...was Jerrin. Perhaps it was due to her namesake, but my exchanges with Cherry hurt Jerrin.
Ninth entry: Despite the fact that she knew Cherry was only a machine, she still felt uneasy with my interactions with her. She was in tears when she told me. She knew it made little sense, and yet she couldn't help how she felt. I was devastated. I hadn't even realized the pain I was causing. Although Jerrin had designed Cherry, she was now being hurt by her own creation. We agreed to restore Cherry to her original, mechanical way of speaking. I took it upon myself to make the changes.
Tenth entry: From then on, I was careful to not refer to her as Cherry. Doing so would anger my wife. Instead, I called her... ancient oven. Some time later, Jerrin gave birth to a baby boy, a beautiful young one who bore all the features of his mother. We decided to name him Grante, and together we passed the time as a happy family at Akkala Ancient Tech Lab. It was, unfortunately, only a temporary peace. Princess Zelda did her best to contain Calamity Ganon... Around the time Grante turned three, a letter from Dr. Purah arrived. It was a shock to receive it. The last time she'd written, it was to talk about an assistant from Kakariko Village, whom she felt was useless. She was writing now to let me know she'd completed research on powering up the runes, like Stasis. Hearing this reinvigorated my interest in researching ancient soldier gear.
Eleventh entry: Grante grew fast, and it wasn't long before he towered over me! He loved to carry blue flame from Tumlea Heights, calling it a chance to train his body. I could see the curiosity in his eyes, and so I encouraged him to travel the world and see as much as he could. He'd always been independent. But I was still surprised when, the very day I told him to travel, he left! Writing about Grante's training reminds me... A few days before he left, I thought it might be a good idea to have Grante study with Dr. Purah. I wrote to her to ask what she thought of such an idea, and she sent a letter that simply said... "Don't send anyone here!" I wonder what happened to her to make her say such a thing...
Good grief Robbie is wordy

Rhoam feels under cut, featuring TotK spoilers and blog headcanons
Just thinking about how Rhoam is the "Defier of Prophecy" in AoC yet in BotW that prophecy has its way with him thoroughly. Like he wouldn't even be alive in my TotK verse if not for an accident of fate. He thinks it nothing less than a miracle that this object had the power to send him AND his twelve best guardsmen forward in time, and he's too palpably aware that he's not supposed to exist in this time. Hyrule has changed so much, before you even speak of the kingdom itself being destroyed a hundred years prior. And in TotK he's in all of the pain because he's at first worried for Zelda and wondering where she could be– then, after he witnesses the dragon tear memories, he Knows and he's just grieving. In his mind, That Event sealed the fate of the last remnant of all he knew– gone. All of it. Beyond retrieval. Zelda becoming a dragon means the last link in the Hyrulean royal family's bloodline is gone. (I mean, he wouldn't know about Enid's line and Lambda being the perpetuation of that, so.) By that point Rhoam is probably in despair– even if Ganondorf is defeated, what does this mean for Hyrule? Rhoam just knows he is now 100% obsolete (as opposed to 98%) with Zelda being effectively Gone.
It's nothing less than a miracle when Zelda is restored to her original form, to him– of the same sort that spared his life and those of his guardsmen. He probably hugs Zelda with more emotion than she's ever seen in him in her life– and I have no idea how Zelda feels or what she does about that. And afterward Rhoam is probably super protective, though he knows damn well he can't just act on that urge to keep her close and safe when she's a grown woman.
Just. He's traumatized For Real and it's making me smile a bit because I love torturing characters :)

Learning to Swim Compendium Entry
Compendium entries are intended as world-building for the LtoS fic and are entirely my own headcanon.  Feel free to use/riff on these ideas in your own fanworks.
On Hylian Gestural Language
Hylian Gestural Language, or Hylian Sign Language, was initially discovered by Gabin the Fruit Merchant, a Hylian of Castletown.  Whilst travelling the far reaches of Tabantha Region Gabin discovered a small village of Hylians, long cut off from and forgotten by most of Hyrule.  The people of the village spoke with a combination of truncated words and hand-signs that Gabin learned while he sheltered in the village.  When Gabin left he took the knowledge with him.  Eventually the gestural language became common short-hand within merchant circles, often used to carry out less than savoury business.  There were also rumours that the language had been co-opted by the Yiga clan to communicate noiselessly.
Hylian Gestural Language remained quite niche and useful for very little besides trading until Princess Nyore Hyrule was born.  The Princess came into the world with little ability to speak due to mal-formed vocal chords.  Her parents, the King and Queen of Hyrule, desperate to give their daughter the best possible life sought all kinds of solutions from magical to scientific.  Eventually they came to know of the merchant language and commissioned Talu, great grandson of Gabin, to teach them.  Due to Royal sponsorship the once rudimentary language was better-developed, recorded in the Royal annals, and further disseminated amongst the people of Hyrule.
By the time of King Rhoam and Princess Zelda, Hylian Gestural Language, while still quite bare-bones linguistically, was well-known and well-used.  It was taught to the Royal Family, and most of the upper-class and well educated, including formally trained Knights and Guards of Hyrule.  In addition, the sign language was known amongst Hyrule’s other prime races, namely the Rito, Goron, Gerudo and Zora peoples.
Now, one-hundred years after the Calamity, Hylian Gestural Language, as Hylians knew it, has been mostly lost.  Once again it finds itself a language of Merchants, Yiga, and Outlaws.  There may yet be a few scholarly sorts among the now dispersed Hylian population that know of it from their parents.  Now the long-lived Zora alone remember the language as it was.  And Link, of course.
Hylian Gestural Language, even at its peak, was always practical.  It includes letters, numbers, basic greetings, and other essentials.  One might say ‘tomorrow’ or ‘yesterday’, or ‘thank you’, but not describe the colour of a thing or the way a meal tastes.  Link uses it in combination with spoken word and acting-out to communicate.  Of course, to anyone but those who remember the language, he seems especially mysterious and quiet.

Actual Headcanons
Sort of
Okay so
Who starts the conversation?
-Before the Calamity, Zelda. Link would make comments here and there but he wouldn’t talk unless asked something. After the Calamity, Link starts the conversation. Solely because he’s already adjusted to how everything is. He goes on and on about the new things and things he misses, his adventures while he was getting stronger so he can beat Ganon. Zelda listens to all his stories, having seen them all from afar while she was fighting Ganon, but loves hearing all the details.
Who wakes up first?
-For someone who fought Ganon for 100 years straight without a break, Zelda is always the first one up. Link’s sleep schedule was so out of whack before they defeated Ganon, and now that it’s reached some sort of stable schedule he sleeps until Zelda wakes him up. She usually goes to the Ancient Tech Lab to hang out with Purah at dawn, so she can catch up on all the progress they’ve made over the past 100 years. When she gets back around 10 ish she wakes Link up so they can had breakfast.
Who cooks?
-That’s the chef himself, Link. He loves cooking food almost as much as he loves eating it. He is teaching Zelda, who is fully aware that she lacks cooking skills because she never needed it. She’s getting better at it, sometimes she doesn’t burn the eggs. No matter what, the food they serve each other is also coupled with a kiss on the cheek.
Who says ‘I love you’ first?
-Lover Boy Link at your service. We know Zelda loves Link and he knows it too (not that she really knows a bird outed her feelings). But Link says it to her when she’s talking about possible solutions for the Divine Beast Vah Ruta. After spending the last few months going around Hyrule, meeting new people, remembering his past life, and going through the trials set in front of him all he could think about was saving her. Link knew he should be doing it to save Hyrule and that was part of his motivation, but the main drive for him was to get Zelda back. He refell in love with her during his journies, so when she was being the geek she is, it slipped.
How does the other react?
-Zelda sorta just stops and stares at him, because she’s known she’s loved him since she shielded him from the Guardian. But to hear that he loves her? She wants to cry on the spot because she’s so happy. Zelda gets all flustered and Link just sorta repeats it because even he’s surprised he said it and she just throws herself on him. Kisses and giggle ensue, because these two teenagers that have seen more than enough tragedy for their lifetime are in love with each other and together.
How do other characters react to the couple?
-The entirety of Hateno thought they were already engaged when they became official. Whoops.
-Impa has this knowing grin when the two of them go visit her for the first time since the confession. She knew that Zelda was in love Link 100 years ago, she’s just surprised it took him this long to figure it out for himself.
-They don’t tell Kass or anything when they go to Rito Village, but he tells Link in private that he doesn’t need a song to see how in love they are with each other. Link gets embarrassed but smiles and thanks him. Teba also makes a “is that your girlfriend?” Comment bc he doesn’t know what the princess from 100 years ago looks like. When Link says yes, he’s a bit surprised but proud anyway.
-Riju, my favorite companion, is estactic. She’s read Urbosa’s Diary and knows for a fact that there was something between Link and Zelda even if they didn’t know it. She’s also a tad off put bc she has this school girl crush on Link but she brushes it off because she’s never seen Link so carefree and happy as he is with Zelda around.
-Sidon, my lovely Zora, is a little surprised to say the least. He never really considered that Link had feelings for Zelda, just sort of focused on the fact that Mipha loved him enough to want Link to be her husband. But he’s happy for them anyway, and says to Link that Mipha would be happy he found someone he loves.
-Yunobo just sorta goes “oh, they’re together? That’s great!” And goes on with his life. Meanwhile, Daruk’s spirit is facepalming bc he saw all the signs and didn’t put two and two together. He really thought that one conversation was about food. Typical Hylians.
-If I’m gunna mention Daruk’s spirit I have to mention all of them.
-Urbosa is highfiving Zelda’s Mom because she got her wish for Zelda. She’s been on this team since Link first requested to meet with her. Those two were bound to be together, especially after all they’ve been through.
-Revali could care less, honestly. But he’s forced to listen to all the spirits talk about them and forces out a “Well I guess the two of them deserve each other” which was meant to be an insult but no one took it that way. He can never win, guys.
-Mipha is actually really happy. She’s had this feeling that Link was never really ever going to be truly hers. She saw how he saw past her, always looking for something else and how when he looked at Zelda, that’s all he saw. It’s why she never gave him the armor. So when she sees Link accept his feelings and let someone in, she’s beyond happy because Link deserves it. Zelda, too.
-Rhoam is just sorta going “well no one else is fit to be the king of Hyrule, so I guess Link is okay” when the Queen and Urbosa roll their eyes. He knows how much Zelda liked Link because she would have him hang out with her in the castle all the time.
Who proposes?
-Zelda is the first one to mention marriage. Since they’re in the process of rebuilding the castle and Hyrule Town, she will be the Queen once it’s completed. She’s already got royal stuff planned and all these projects started, but she brings up the point that if they get married, the ceremony would have to this whole thing since Hyrule has been without a royal family for a century. She’s sitting at the desk staring at pieces of parchment, when Link comes up behind her and places a hand on her back. Link then causally holds out a ring and tells her that they could get married tomorrow just for them.
Wedding?
- They go to Kapson in Terry Town the next day, with Purah, Impa, and Paya as their audience. They have this small ceremony with a dress Impa had saved from when the late Queen got married. Link had to go to Bolson of all people to get a tux of sorts, which ends up being a fancier version of the Royal Guards outfit bc Bolson is extra, even more so when he’s getting an outfit for the new King of Hyrule. He also joins the audience, but much more of a background character who throws flower petals at them.
-The ceremony for the kingdom doesn’t happen for another three years. They’re 23 by this time, the kingdom almost fully restored. With the castle finally back in order and Hyrule Town buzzing with merchants and residents, they decide to announce the news that they’re engaged. Yes, they’ve been married for three years at this point, but this is for the public more than them. Only close friends from the different races know, as well as most of Hateno Village (But they thought they were married a month after Zelda arrived). It’s this whole shebang with a new dress and classy tux. Impa walks Zelda down the aisle, telling her how happy her parents would be if they were here.
Do either of them want kids? One more than the other?
-Link is a SUCKER for kids. He loves them. He would have 50 kids of his own if he could. He doesn’t have many memories of his actual family, so it’s sort of a coping thing for him. Zelda wants children, but is more concerned that being in a different realm for 100 years would affect her ability to become pregnant. She’s also terrified that she’ll have a girl and have to name her Zelda per the family tradition (she doesn’t want any of her children to bear the responsibilities she did).
Do they have kids?
-Yes, they have two little girls. Neither are named Zelda. Instead they name them after story characters their parents used to read to them. (Tetra and Lana for me, but ya’ll can pick what you want)

How would you rank "The Champions Ballad" memories from favorite to least favorite, and why?
under the cut for spoilerssss
maybe i’m biased because this was the first cutscene we unlocked but i loved loved loved Urbosa’s. getting the confirmation that she’s essentially Zelda’s surrogate mother and the whole “little bird” thing was so heartwarming, and it was really cool to learn that she was actually close friends with the queen—though i’m still salty that we never learn her name or what she looked like. the absent mother trope is tired. but seeing Zelda happy with her Strong Mom is everything i’ve ever wanted and that fight scene was fkn sweet
i felt that Mipha’s interaction with Zelda was sort of… lacking? which doesn’t actually surprise me because i sort of suspected that they weren’t very close. but her sibling bond with Sidon seemed really genuine and i found that seeing her almost as a warrior—actually holding a weapon and surfing down/up the waterfall—really affirmed her character as much deeper than a soft-spoken, lovesick princess. like, i knew this, but nintendo didn’t really show this, and i would have liked to see more of that side of her. also that backflip at the end there was graceful as fucki’m considering Daruk’s memory tied with this one because it wasn’t All That Deep but it was super sweet. “tiny princess”! with a doggo!! which he’s scared of!! but he wants to help protect Hyrule!!! and Zelda is the light of my life and i would die for her
the inauguration ceremony was sort of weird? it just felt really out of place to me. i also thought that King Rhoam’s speech was oddly optimistic in contrast to the side of him we saw in the Father and Daughter memory in the main game. it was super #aesthetic though, and it was cool to see the castle and Hyrule court as it was, as well as that small glimpse we got of Castle Town. i don’t spend a lot of time in central Hyrule during gameplay so seeing what was once a thriving world was kind of a sad reminder of what was lost. i tend to forget when i’m just running around out in the wildseeing the champions taking the picture together was wholesome as fuck and i cried for real at the cuteness of it (Mipha shuffling closer to Link! Link and Urbosa being all concerned about Zelda! Daruk pulling them all in for a group hug!! Purah!!!) but all i could think about was where it sits in the timeline of Link’s memories. like did the Subdued Ceremony memory take place before or after that scene? logically probably after but i think that’s a major shift in tone? i just have trouble finding it believable which hurts me because i loved it so much
i really disliked how Revali was portrayed so his memory was my least favourite purely for that reason. personally i love Revali and i had really hoped that Nintendo would redeem him a little but instead they just cemented the fact that he really is kind of just an asshole birb. i always had this headcanon that he had a soft spot for Zelda because he recognised just how hard she was working so seeing him being so abrasive towards her really bothered me. his diary was even more infuriating in that regard but it was sort of hilarious just how much he detested Link before he even met him. his hateboner was so intense and it’s so funny. but yeah. birb is still a giant asshole but i love him anyway
in all i really loved the dlc. it wasn’t exactly what i wanted (i.e Zelda and Link making out for another 120 hours of gameplay) but it was pretty much what i was expecting from a “postgame” dlc. it was especially nice seeing Zelda as the mature, collected, diplomatic young woman that we all know she is, and how she seemed happy and at ease in a couple of the memories, considering how little of that we got to see in the main game. also i’m still not over that winter coat. i love her.
i could go on with more about the diaries and about the gameplay itself but anyway give me a 3rd dlc with the zelink sex scene we all deserve k thanks

Different cooking styles of the muses—
Astor: The best way to describe it is elegant? Akin to food served in fine dining, Astor likes to take his time with proper brining, seasonings, particular cuts of meat, plating, etc. Everything he does is very intentional and builds off his knowledge of food and cooking.
Ganondorf: Efficient. While Ganondorf has the knowledge and ability to cook, he prefers to spend his time elsewhere. So if he is cooking, it’s to fuel and sustain. Expect a one pot meal that’s packed with protein and spices.
Rhoam: Camp-style. Most of his cooking days were spent in the army and it shows in what he likes to cook with lots of simple, but yummy, recipes. He loves cooking with fresh protein and produce most.
Sonia: Cozy. She’s one for cooking soups, porridge, pudding, rice and chicken dishes—the sort of thing you would want to eat after coming in from a cold rain. As a midwife, she always had fresh sweet rice porridge ready for the new mama to enjoy post-birth.
Revali: Simple. He never really learned to do any complex meals himself. He knows some standard basics and just rotates between them, things like easy stews, rice paired with a simply seasoned protein, etc.
Link: Mobile just deleted the entire section for this so rather than type it all back out I will simply say—he’s an amazing cook and he’ll cook whatever sounds tasty regardless of how inconvenient it may be.

In honor of today being a sick day for Baby V, here’s some thoughts on the muses when they’re sick—
Astor: Hates it. Hates it so much. He, by some crazy luck, almost never gets sick, but when he does, it hits HARD. Everything hurts, fuck food, fuck the shirt on his stupid back—he just wants to lay down and not move until it’s over. But it’s Astor, so instead he just keeps working. Miserably. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ganondorf: Also rarely gets sick, but when he does, it doesn’t impact him terribly. His appetite is lower and he’ll tire quicker, but over all, he’s business as usual. Even so, he doesn’t risk it getting worse and usually drinks some healthy mixed drinks to help it pass quicker.
Rhoam: Sickness hits harder in his old age and he’s still not used to it. As a young man, he could take a run and “sweat it out” just fine. Now he’s laid up in bed for a good portion of the day, though he still does what he can while sitting up. He gets severe wet coughs and a bit of swelling, particularly in the legs.
Link: He gets sick about as often as your average soldier, though you wouldn’t know it. He’s known to work right through fevers with little indication that he’s not feeling well. He tends to want to eat more when he’s ill and loads up on carbs in particular.
Revali: He’s DYING—and he wants you to know it, but also, he’s still training, and he wants you to know THAT, too. Once he’s done training, he’s curled up in bed with soup for the rest of the day, lamenting how illness could befall one great as he.
Sonia: She gets very shaky when she’s ill, so there’s not a whole lot of hiding it. The sunshine is natures medicine according to her, so she spends a lot of time relaxing outside with fruit and food that’s gentle on the stomach. She’ll use the forced downtime to catch up on her reading.
Demise and Hylia do not get sick, for they are Gods

Silly Muse Habits When They’re Deep Asleep (even if it’s rare)
Astor: Drools, sleep talks (it’s usually nonsensical)
Ganondorf: Snores, randomly has his elbow in the air
Rhoam: Snores, ends up sideways in bed (this can not possibly be more comfortable, his legs are hanging off the edge)
Link: Smacks lips in sleep, randomly sits up and then plops back down (no he was never actually awake)
Revali: Chirps and talks in sleep, kicks legs
Sonia: Snores (and it is actually the cutest tiniest snore ever) and rolls into a cocoon

Rhoam's Youth
Tumblr media
As a young man, Rhoam was considered quite handsome. He was all muscle and tone back then and his hair was a reddish brown, kept cut just above his shoulders in waves with a neatly trimmed beard.
Despite this, his immense size was a tad intimidating to the ladies of court and he wasn’t often sought after. This was just as well, since he only had eyes for one. The then-Princess Calista only grew to be 5′0ft, resulting in quite the height difference! Zelda, clearly, inherited her short stature from her mother.

The King of Hyrule is, unfortunately, destined to die before he sees his daughter take the throne.
In his default verse, he falls during the battle of Calamity. However, in verses such as Age of Calamity, he is granted a few more precious years alongside his daughter and kingdom—but his life is claimed very suddenly when he suffers a heart attack in the early hours of the evening.
Unbeknownst to him, this is not Rhoam’s first heart attack. He has had smaller variations in the past, but none that caused him lasting damage. It was presumed to be related to stress, and nothing more.
At his funeral, the Princess of Hyrule remains calm and dignified before her people, and does not cry.
She is crowned the following day.

rhoam + religion
Tumblr media
Is Rhoam a religious man?
Well. Let's dig into that, shall we?
He is, of course, a believer in Hylia—after all, his wife and his daughter share Her blood, Her spirit—it's all a bit complex. And beyond that, Rhoam's own ancestry cements the notion of Hylia as a powerful Goddess, having come from a Sheikah bloodline himself (albeit quite mixed over the years.)
And all that said...
He has never been able to place his faith in religion. If he was able to, he would have done so with Zelda and her powers, and not worried over their appearance, trusting that Hylia would awaken them when the moment was right. As it is, Rhoam has experienced too much death in his life (as a reminder, he is the only son out of four to survive into late adulthood, his parents passed before Zelda is born, and he becomes a widow a mere 7 years into his marriage) and seen the horrors and unpredictable nature of war too much to trust anything except the results of hard earned effort.
Thus, his relationship with religion is a bit complex. The Gods are there, yes—and they will help those who help themselves. So get to work.

Pros and Cons of Muses as Parents: Astor, Ganondorf, Rhoam
Astor
Pros: He’ll take on all overnight care for the baby because his ass is awake anyhow so might as well, has a nice voice that could probably calm a baby down, provides well financially, ensures children have a high quality education, encourages their confidence, doesn’t typically lose temper with them, will protect them, won’t beat them, will meet their emotional needs even if just on a superficial level.
Cons: Doesn’t see his children as their own individuals but rather an extension of himself, will have paths and roles for them to take and won’t allow deviation unless it suits his own needs, will use emotional manipulation to them to keep them under his control, will encourage them to view others as inferior, will throw them to the wolves once they’re adults and insist that the strong will survive, will place his goals above them.
Ganondorf
Pros: Hands-on father with no cultural engrainment of “women’s work vs man’s work”, thoroughly protects and provides, patient with mistakes, stern but calm when correcting poor behavior, creates a consistent routine for them while also allowing them space to be children, ensures they have the best education and physical training, instills respect for their other parent, provides physical and emotional support when necessary, encourages them to forge their own path.
Cons: Doesn’t see them as their own individual and while he encourages them to forge their own path he still expects them to support the goals which best serve him, will use physical punishment for severe offenses once past a certain age, won’t accept any excuses for poor performance, will discourage showing any sign of “weakness” on a physical or emotional level, will ultimately place his goals/kingdom before his children.
Rhoam
Pros: Provides and protects, can be a playful parent, encourages his child to never give up trying even in the face of doubt and failure, gives great hugs, won’t using beating as punishment, has a large chest that babies fall asleep easily on.
Cons: Has high expectations that will not compromise, operates on a “sink or swim” mentality, will use emotional manipulation on his children as means of “motivation,” is not a good listener or communicator, discourages showing any vulnerable emotions, will always be a king before a father and place his kingdom before his children, will leave numerous aspects of child-rearing to the mother or staff.
