🐦🍎 I'm Wishing For The One I Love 🍎🐦
Oopsies, I think I found myself back in my Disney phase/hyperfixation once again. Quite typical of me 🤭
Made this doodle as a little tribute to the late Mary Kay Bergman. For those of you who aren’t familiar with who she is, she was a popular cartoon voice actress who voiced iconic characters such as the majority of the female South Park characters during the show's earlier seasons (including Wendy), Snow White, Daphne Blake, and even Timmy Turner.
Sadly, she took her own life, but she’ll forever be remembered through the characters she voiced. I remember watching a lot of YouTube videos talking about her, and the projects she worked on, and it still makes me so sad that she’s no longer with us because she seemed like such a funny, and kind-hearted lady.
I even heard that she was close friends with Tara Strong (who would later go on to succeed her as the role of Timmy Turner) and at one point gave her a dog as a present, which makes this all the more heartwarming but also heartbreaking. Also not to mention how talented she is at not just voice acting but singing, too.
Seriously Blame Canda has been stuck in my head for a good while and it’s mostly because of Mary’s singing 💀
Since she voiced Wendy and Snow White, I thought it would be a fun and fitting idea to do some more crossover stuff. I absolutely love Disney Princesses and South Park sm, and I definitely had a blast with this artwork.
The dress that Wendy is wearing is heavily based on a Snow White Barbie doll that was released way back in 1999 (coincidentally the same year the South Park movie came out), and I thought that it would be a perfect fit for Wendy. Though I did add in a few elements from the Disney version of Snow’s dress such as the cape, bow on her head, and color palette.
I can kinda see this as being a part of some sort of play by the school, and to add onto that I can also see Stan playing the part of Florian lol
I may or may not make some similar art like this in the future, just basically drawing other South Park ladies dressed up as not just Disney Princesses but other Disney gals, even some of the villains. Not sure who would be who, but I'll probably get it figured out later. Depends if I'm motivated enough to do so.
Fly high, Bergman. May your legacy live on 😇

She could never do it like Rihanna have her last album in 2016 and still be in the chart. Or MJ who has been dead for nearly 15 years. Her music has no impact.
omg I wish I had the link to a TikTok that went over this. TS was compared to a singer back in the 70s who had a similar range of commercial access but no one has heard of her because her legacy died with her own death and there was nothing culturally significant about her music and image in the long run. She just fit the times. (Controversial take but they said Lana is one of the artists from our era whose music will carry on long after she’s dead , not because of commercial success but because of her songwriting, musical originality, etc. and as a Lana stan that makes me go 🤭)
taylor might be remembered for being the artist who made her fans bully her exes idk🤷‍♂️😂

I think that anon has me confused I’m not saying due to Fred Astaire’s Will a project can’t be made on him because clearly it can. But I’m speaking from a moral stand point. I’m not trying to be the morality police but personally I don’t think it’s a good idea or look to portray a real person who never wanted that. A biopic is suppose to celebrate and honor that person’s legacy and I don’t think doing a movie on a person who never wanted one about their life does that.
I think Tom would be amazing in the role but it’s off putting being that Astaire never wanted this. So making an Oscar bait movie is just nasty work to me. On the studios part for sure but even on Tom’s part accepting the role. Stans don’t get mad I know how you all get when someone isn’t giving non stop praise but being critical and logical. Just cause the studio disregarded his wishes doesn’t mean Tom has to go along and due the same. Plus there’s ironically already another Fred Astaire project in the works. With Jamie Bell who funnily enough was the original Billy Elliot in the movie.
Thanks Anon. Yea, I get your points. I understood what you were saying.
I'm so confused, because one person is saying he said this, then another is saying that it was "urban legend".... Like, at this point, I'm like Oprah....
Tumblr media
Also, do we even know that Tom knew that Fred said this? 🤔 Like, before he accepted the role, I'm not sure he even knew that Fred had ever said this tbh. I know I surely never knew, and I'm actually AMERICAN!! ROFL 😆 🤣 I grew up watching his films! I never even knew he said this at all until the biopic was announced.
Hmm.... 🤔
Anyway, IF he did indeed say this, then yes, I can see why some would find a morality issue with studios making a film like this. Maybe there was more to Fred's quote however (if he did indeed say this) that hasn't been delved into.
This was one article I found:
Tumblr media
.
Supposedly, in 1997, they made some vacuum cleaner commercial using Fred's dancing footage.... 👀 So, not even a biopic film, and it seems STILL people were upset at that too! 😳
Tumblr media
Either way, I just hope this biopic film doesn't cause too much backlash on Tom. 😔😩
Oh lawwwd..... Is it too late to cast Tom as Gene Kelly instead?? Rofl 😆 🤣 😂
There might be less backlash over a Gene Kelly biopic. Tom already did a brief "singing in the rain" number for LSB lol.... 🤭

WALES ENTHUSIASTS PLZ THAT MADE ME LAUGH 🤭💀 //
YOU LAUGH BUT I KNOW AN ENGLISH FAMILY WHO HAD NO CONNECTION TO WALES BESIDES ENJOYING GOING THERE AND GAVE THEIR CHILDREN VERY WELSH NAMES
That’s quite weird lol but fair play. I - a white person with a name that is very much indicative of my cultural heritage - actually back and forth on whether I think like oppressor cultures stanning oppressed cultural names is dope or appropriation because I’ve read contrasting takes. On the one hand it’s like helpful in “fuck this you will pronounce this name” but on the other like it doesn’t erase the ~legacy.

Anon. Do you may remember what this singer was called?
