            Your eyes were starting to water due to the number of flashes from the cameras that were going off around you. The bright lights made it difficult to keep your eyes open, but you knew that this was just part of being in the spotlight.

  Jack places a hand on your arm, slightly shoving you towards the exit. You ignore the yells of your name and continue to make your way off the carpet.

Your bodyguard, who had been standing nearby, steps in to create a path through the crowd, shielding you and Jack from the relentless paparazzi.

  "Did you talk to Jenna?" Jack asks, leaning close enough for his voice to be heard.

You send the bearded man a glare, shaking your head. "No. I don't even think she's walked the carpet yet."

Jack raises an eyebrow before turning his head to the carpet, which is still filled with celebrities and flashing cameras.

He scans the area, searching for any sign of Jenna among the chaos. He then turns back to you with a smirk on his lips. "I think you're just ducking her."

You roll your eyes at Jack's teasing remark.

"Please, like I have time to play hide and seek with Jenna. I'm just trying to avoid the relentless paparazzi."

You gesture towards the swarm of photographers jostling for the perfect shot.

Jack hums, his smile widening. A thought clicks into his head, causing his smile to drop.

"Oh, yeah! I talked to Melissa, and she is fine as fuck."

You thin out your lips. Jack probably didn't know she was married.

"I'll tell her husband you said that."

"You know what they say. Don't let your husband distract you from finding the love of your life."

You chuckle at his joke.

"May I say you look amazing tonight?" The interviewer states, smiling as they admire your appearance.

You smile, bringing your hands together to calm yourself before responding.

"Thank you so much."

"Are you a big fan of the Scream franchise?" The interviewer asks, moving their microphone closer.

You nod, your eyes lighting up with excitement.

"Absolutely! Ghostface is such an iconic character, and I love the twists that they put in the movie. It just always keeps you on your toes."

The interviewer chuckles, sharing your enthusiasm. "I completely agree! The Scream franchise has definitely left a lasting impact on the horror genre with its clever storytelling and memorable characters. Speaking of memorable characters, whose is your favorite?"

You pause for a moment, looking up at the sky as you bite down on your lip.

"Uhh... It's hard to choose just one, but if I had to pick, I would say Roman Bridger. I didn't suspect him at all, and his reveal as the mastermind behind everything in Scream 3 was a total shock. Plus, Scott Foley's performance was absolutely chilling."

The interviewer nods, appreciating your choice. "I couldn't agree more. He's surely one to remember."

You nod again, smiling. "For sure. I've always wanted to play Ghostface. Taking off the mask and revealing your plan must be so fun."

The interviewer laughs and says, "I'm sure you'd do great."

Before you could respond with a thank you, the interviewer speaks up.

"Jenna! It's so nice to see you." You turn to see Jenna, your heart dropping at the sight of her.

You force a tight-lipped smile at the brunette. "Hey Jenna, long time no see," you say, trying to sound casual.

Deep down, you can't help but wonder if she still thinks about you.

Jenna returns the smile. "Yeah, it's been a while," she replies softly.

Memories of your past together flood your mind, and you can't help but wonder if there's still a chance for reconciliation.

"You guys are so stunning, I can't even!" The interviewer gushes, snapping you out of your thoughts.

Jenna chuckles, her eyes meeting yours briefly before she turns her attention back to the interviewer.

"Jenna, I've gotta ask. Are you a fan of Y/N's music?" Jenna nods her head, glancing at you again before answering.

"I am. They're very talented musically, and I'm waiting for another album."

You try to fight back a smile, but it fails miserably. The interviewer notices your failed attempt to hide your smile and chuckles.

"Seems like there's mutual admiration here," they remark, noticing the subtle connection between you and Jenna.

You tilt your head, shrugging a bit. "I guess you could say that. Jenna's very talented herself, both musically and in acting."

Jenna feels the butterflies in her stomach erupt as you compliment her.

She's missed you, and she wants nothing more than to reconnect with you. She blushes slightly and responds, "Thank you."

You walk over to Jenna, interrupting her conversation with Percy. "Jenna."

Jenna turns towards you, a surprised expression on her face as she pauses mid-sentence.

After a brief moment of hesitation, she nods slowly, her curiosity piqued. "Sure, why not? Let's go."

Percy furrows his eyebrows, watching you and Jenna walk off together.

When you arrive home, you take off your jacket and help Jenna with hers.

Jenna mumbles a thank you before making herself comfortable on the couch.

She looks around the unfamiliar surroundings, seeing as you've changed a few things since the last time she was there.

Jenna's eyes linger on a Polaroid of you and her, capturing a happy memory from months ago. Of course, Jenna still loved you, but was she ready to take the risk of getting hurt again?

She couldn't bear the fact that things might not work out between you two, causing more heartbreak.

Fame had always been a double-edged sword for Jenna. While it had brought her success and recognition, it also came with constant scrutiny and pressure.

It's what ruined you two. Jenna being constantly busy due to acting and you constantly being busy due to singing made it difficult for you both to find quality time together.

Despite the love that still existed between you, the demands of your respective careers created a growing distance that neither of you knew how to bridge.

You walk into the living room, two glasses of wine in your hand. "Actually," Jenna speaks up, and you raise your eyebrows in anticipation.

She continues, "Could we sit on your balcony?"

You nod, a smile tugging at the corners of your lips. "Of course," you say, leading the way to the balcony.

As you settle into the comfortable chairs, the city lights twinkling below, Jenna takes a deep breath and says, "I miss moments like this, just being together without any distractions."

You take a sip of your wine, pausing to savor the flavor before responding. "Me too," you say, gazing out at the night sky.

"I missed you."

Jenna's eyes soften, and she reaches over to gently touch your lap. "I missed you too," she whispers.

"I hope you know that I'm not dating Percy."

"I know," you reply, a small smile forming on your lips. "I knew you wouldn't downgrade like that."

Jenna chuckles softly, her dimples beginning to show. "That's hilarious."

A silence falls over the two of you.

"I couldn't imagine being with anyone other than you," you snap your head towards her, your heart swelling with love at words.

She always knew the right thing to say.

"You're the only one who truly understands me, Y/N." Jenna's eyes meet yours, her brown pupils glistening in the moonlight.

"I can't find myself being vulnerable or trusting with anyone else." She finishes off, breaking away from your gaze.

You don't say anything, you just place your hand over top of hers, which was resting on your lap.

he pushed the door open and pony and darry were both sitting in the living room, darry on the couch and pony on the floor, leaning up against his legs. they both turned around and stared at soda as he shut the door behind him and started wiping his shoes off on the doormat. he must have been a sight for fresh eyes; his hair plastered to his face and his clothes sticking to him with rain.

none of them knew what was about to happen. none of them had been late getting home since pony ran off, since…

“i’m sorry,” soda stuttered, bending over to take his shoes off, only to realize he didn’t know what to do with himself after the fact.

darry stood up, and even though he knew it was okay, that he was safe, he felt himself go tense. there was a moment when all three of them felt the weight of what was happening, darry deciding whether or not to yell, soda feeling tears welling in his eyes, and pony sick to his stomach with worry watching the two of them.

darry sighed, his eyes softening, “ponyboy, go get soda a towel, please.”

pony nodded and pushed himself off the floor, taking off down the hall. darry hurried forward and enveloped soda in a rib-cracking hug.

“are you okay?” he asked quietly, his hand rubbing the back of soda’s head, just like their dad used to.

soda nodded quietly.

“honey, you’re soaked…” darry pushed him back to look him over. “why didn’t you call? i’d have come and picked you up from work.”

soda didn’t know where to start. it was time for them to know, and he’d known forever that it was safe to, that it was okay to tell them, but the words always fell flat when he tried to string all the thoughts together.

he was spared the trouble of having to explain himself yet by ponyboy coming back and throwing a warm towel over his shoulders. darry scrubbed his head for a second and muttered, “go dry off and change, you’re gonna get sick.”

soda dragged himself back into his and pony’s bedroom, peeling his wet clothes off and sitting down on the bed, with the towel wrapped around them. he could feel his heart hammering in his throat in a way that had nothing to do with how cold he was. he pulled on a sweatshirt and pajama pants and haphazardly toweled his hair dry, not bothering to run a comb through it or even try to make it look presentable.

darry and ponyboy were on either side of the couch watching tv when he walked back out. he threw his clothes in the dryer and piled in next to pony, who curled up into soda’s side and looked over at darry, waiting patiently for what was coming next.

“i wasn’t at work,” soda started, throwing an arm over pony’s shoulders and tugging him closer. “i was over at steve’s.”

darry tilted his head, “well, why didn’t you just say so, pepsi? steve’s house is no big deal.”

soda sighed deeply, not sure how to approach it gently, “yea… me and steve…”

he couldn’t do it. there was no way he could tell them, not yet. maybe not ever.

unfortunately, pony had caught on immediately. he looked over quickly, “what’s up, soda?”

“what about you and steve?” darry looked over curiously.

shit. he’d noticed, too, there was no going back now, they knew something was happening. it began to occur to him how incapable he was of taking any of it back, how he would never be able to undo it.

“steve and i…” he started, and he had to close his mouth and open it a few times before he could get the words to sound right in his head. “we’re to- he’s…”

soda huffed and pressed his lips together anxiously. pony sat up slightly, his brows furrowed, “it’s okay, take your time.”

“we’re together,” soda spat out, unable to beat around the bush any longer. “he’s my boyfriend.”

there was a palpable silence that hung in the air for almost a full minute after soda spoke, so tense you could cut it with a knife. all any of them could do was stare silently, the only sound being soda’s ragged, terrified breaths.

“that’s all?” darry asked, and soda nodded quickly. “baby, that’s okay! i thought something was wrong!”

soda felt like he could melt into the couch from the relief. he threw himself at darry, his eyes filling with tears as he felt a lump swelling in his throat.

“i thought…” he cried, gripping darry like a lifeline. “i thought you’d be mad.”

“hey,” darry held soda’s face in his hands. “you’re our brother, there is nothing you can do that could make us stop loving you.”

soda gave a heavy sob and darry and pony squeezed him between them.

“you don’t gotta cry,” pony whispered, his hands rubbing up and down soda’s back.

what on earth had this poor kid done to deserve this? losing their parents would have been enough for anyone, but for ponyboy, losing johnny had been like losing half of everything he was. they may not have had it figured out yet, but there had always been more love between the two of them than soda could have felt with anyone, more than darry had with paul or any of the girls he’d taken out in high school. and ponyboy’s person was gone, sad, scared, and in pain.

“it’s okay,” pony sniffled as soda gently tried to wipe away some of the tears.

“no, it’s not,” soda sighed, tear’s prickling in his own eyes. “it’s okay that it’s not. it’s allowed to hurt, baby.”

pony sighed deeply, “thanks for telling us, soda. i guess it does run in the family.”

UHHHHH i spoke about this a lot in my recent MA thesis and it's the foundation for my phd (or at least a big chunk of it) and yes i'm sorry this bitch is going off about her academics again.

so. euripides was athenian and it's fairly safe to say that the athenians altered menelaus characterisation on a HUGE scale and it was mainly euripides as he wrote the most works featuring him. and it's also fairly safe to say that euripides didn't like menelaus OR helen OR hermione simply because they were spartan and given the context of his time, he couldn't really be pro-sparta. so, he used menelaus' family in a myriad of ways to just mock ALL spartans and spartan culture. i won't go into that too much now and i'll focus specifically on the plays you asked about! :)

ORESTES (i assume you meant orestes? aeschylus did the oresteia but euripides just did this one?): so here we see .... menelaus being not very great with his family. but not in a mean way he's just .... useless .. coward like almost? he's a big fence sitter tbh. he doesn't wanna get involved in orestes' shit and that is painfully obvious. again. that's meant to make menelaus look shitty that he doesn't care about his family and his brothers death and his nephew literally having visions of hell BUT. personally? i dont blame him ASDFGHJK. man just got his wife back. got home. dealing with grief and loss and survivors guilt and maybe ptsd and shit .................... and then orestes turns up like 'help me fix my problems' BRO HE GOT HIS OWN DAMN PROBLEMS. and THEN they're like 'ok uncle that's cool. we're gonna kill ur wife and daughter though' LIKE LEAVE THE OLD MAN ALONE. i LOVE menelaus and agamemnon's dynamic. so i'm not saying menelaus didn't care about aga and aga's family. im NOT saying that. but (and i KNOW its my modern perspective) i can see why menelaus couldn't be arsed. and he wasn't even mean about it? he was just nonplussed. AGAIN the ancients would have HATED that, but my modern ass can relate tbh. and lets not forget. he's caught between a rock and a hard place. if he helps orestes, he risks greek wrath. which (in this play anyway) is already strong enough against him cause of helen and troy. so like. euripides has kinda put him in this impossible situation and then makes him the 'stupid funny lazy ass not helpful uncle' guy when he just backs out. which i think is unfair. AND TO TOP IT OFF. APOLLO COMES AND THEN TAKES HIS WIFE. AFTER EVERYTHING HE DID TO GET HER BACK. justice for this old man i s2g.

HELEN: OH HERE WE GO! SO helen is often referred to as a tragi-comedy which i think is very accurate. and euripides is using it to condemn war as a whole (athens had recently suffered a big loss) like if helen wasn't even in troy what was the point of the war? he makes menelaus very .... pathetic, for lack of a better word. and helen seems to take the reigns in their relationship, which would have been a huge no-no to the athenian audience. it would have made helen look domineering and unmanageable and menelaus weak and foolish. he also has menelaus cry a lot. cry and lament his losses as a king. again, the athenians would have hated a man crying. a GREEK HERO crying. but we have our 21st century vision and tbh ................ menelaus is fantastic in this play. he is so. real. he is so human. he is a man who is tired. who is lonely. who is heartbroken. a man who meets his wife who isn't his wife but actually is his wife ... and we're supposed to laugh at him because he's confused? he gets lambasted by so many characters and it's supposed to be funny and i think it is! i do think menelaus in helen is just .... an incredible character. he's so funny. he's so NORMAL. he reacts how you would expect a man to react. you see so many menelaus' in this play. menelaus defeated. menelaus in love. you see a menelaus in action when he comes up with the plan against proteus but also a man who respects his wife and knows when to shut up. i, much like the athenians back then, do have a giggle at menelaus in this play. but i don't hate him. it makes him all the more endearing to me and i love him.

these two menelaus' are (shockingly) two menelaus' that i like! i love helen's menelaus and i'm indifferent to orestes' menelaus tbh. but i think they're fine as portrayals and they make sense to me!

overall, me and euripides have a complicated relationship. some of his menelaus' i cannot tolerate. and some i adore. and i can actually connect his helen menelaus and his iphigenia in aulis menelaus to homeric menelaus. they're not identical by any means, but the way he behaves and his choices and stuff. you can see homeric menelaus in there somewhere, which is why i love them so much.

ok so strider definitely contributed to virion’s paranoia. thats just. yeah. he didn’t really Mean To it just kind of Happened. bro did not realize that saying “keep your eye out for anything or anyone when you’re out alone on the streets because if someone Can hurt you, they Will” would scare a kid into being Perpetually Anxious!!!! virion definitely looks over his shoulder like every ten seconds whenever he’s out, even if he’s not in costume, bc strider drilled that into his head. Always Be Cautious Always Be On Your Toes!!!! strider also taught him basic street fighting. showed him how to fight dirty!! virion does tend to carry around a few concealed weapons and he started doing that because of strider

meanwhile chungus (i love u chungus ur name is so fucking stupid) taught virion how to fight fair!!! i’m still working on chungus’s backstory and trigger event but i like to think he was a wrestler and/or boxer in school, so he taught virion the Rules of fighting, how to take down an opponent without really hurting them, how to take down people who are heavier and bigger than him, etc. it’s not knowledge that virion uses a lot but in fights with no weapons he still automatically goes into Proper Boxer Fighting Stance. also he has totally accidentally put someone in a headlock because of instincts when they’ve snuck up on him

greyson!! greyson taught virion how to hold all manners of weapons. daggers swords shields you name it!! not really because greyson thought it would be particularly useful, just mostly for fun bc no way this kid is ever going to need to use these!! he got a lot more little habits from greyson tho, like stuff he doesn’t really notice but it is from greyson. he taps his fingers on his arm when he’s impatient, picks at the skin around his nails, stuff like that. he also knows a lot about medieval weaponry bc greyson liked to infodump and virion Absorbed that knowledge. will sometimes find himself going on tangents about how catapults were used in the 1500’s if the topic somehow comes up but he will shut the fuck up once he realizes what he’s doing and gets reminded of greyson and suddenly feels Bad and Horrible at the reminder. yeagh

min did try to teach him stuff but there wasn’t much she knew that she thought would be super useful. she was learning math and physics in college before leviathan hit her hometown, but virion was never really one for academics!!! but he did try to listen to her on the rare occasions she talked about it. he picked up more little habits from her, like he chews on things like his hoodie strings or even his hair when he’s thinking really hard, she taught him how to braid hair and he’ll find himself copying how she braided his sometimes when he’s messing with ashe’s hair, and whenever he’s holding a pen he clicks it really fast like a million times before he even does anything with it. keep his ass out of school he cannot pick up a math or physics textbook without thinking about min and he will think about her the entire class

RAMMM ILY RAM..... he taught virion how to hold guns. any gun he could think of ram was like okay i gotta teach this kid how to shoot and handle this thing correctly and safely. btw i decided ram’s trigger event was him and some friends being stupid in college and playing drunken russian roulette. u can imagine!!! how well that went!!! i wanted to make his sudden innate Knowledge about guns be horribly ironic and also painful for him <3 so now he’s fucking Insistent that virion learn how to handle guns and how to Know when they’re loaded and to ALWAYS KNOW WHERE THE BULLET IS. VERY IMPORTANT. whenever virion’s handling a gun he Always makes sure he knows how many bullets he has left, where his ammo is, never leave the safety off when he puts it down, etc etc. Very Persistent with gun safety. ram has also drilled it into his head to never drink when holding weapons. actually very insistent that virion Never Drink Ever actually. also his southern mannerisms rubbed off on virion juussssst a little bit. virion calls wibby “darlin” once and william has a heart attack over it. virion doesn’t even realize he’s doing it!!! he says ain’t and y’all sometimes and doesn’t even notice until one of the other wards points it out and asks why and virion has an internal breakdown about it

ALPHONZ..... MY LOVE...... i think. for the first little bit after joining the greats, alphonz was in his breaker state A Lot and was not able to get out of it half the time. so in virion’s early life, he just has memories of this bright glowing angel-lookin guy in the room whenever he was around the greats. out of his breaker state tho!! alphonz tried to teach virion religion for a bit, but virion’s parents managed to convince alphonz to leave it alone because if virion wanted to go down that path someday he’d find it on his own, etc etc yk and alphonz eventually conceded. he did read bible stories to virion as bedtime stories though!! virion thought they were fun little fiction stories, and also alphonz’s voice was just nice to fall asleep to, so his parents didn’t mind. to this day virion can probably still recite like half the bible from memory. he doesn’t believe in god but maybe he’s got like. an old cross necklace that alphonz gave him once and he wears it under his shirt sometimes like in memory of alphonz. he chews on the pendant sometimes—thanks min for the chewing stim!!!—and the metal has small scratches and teeth marks. if the chain ever breaks or he loses the pendant he will lose his mind
