Stargate SG-1 is so good. I love it so much 🥺
#might spam you over the week. i think i'll use it to get a distance from snw for a while#i mean i'll watch the kirk-uhura episode on friday but maybe kirk will disappoint me and since the episode after is the xover#i might just... wait until the season is finished or something#(i mean i don't think kirk will disappoint me since the bits in the trailers sounded good... but you never know lol)#it's not that season 2 is bad but i want less spock and i don't think that's happening any time soon#hopefully he won't really have a big role in uhura's episode but then again they might finally introduce him and uhura and the lute who even#knows#which is obviously what i have wanted ever since the announcement but me and spock have a complicated relationship atm lol#i should forget about spock#i hope the transporter scene with kirk and la'an is happening#i hope that kirk's smile when he beams aboard is aimed at la'an#even if that was the only scene they'd share in that episode i'd be content#but the trailer could lie to me#even though so far the trailers actually delivered what was 'promised'#in s1 they felt more misleading but this time what i thought was happening in the trailers happened in the show so far#anyway#stargate is good :D#leni's nonsense

50 Great Things in Children of the Comet
Strange New Worlds | Children of the Comet | Ghosts of Illyria Part 1 & Part 2 | Memento Mori | Spock Amok | Lift Us Where Suffering Cannot Reach | Serene Squall | The Elysian Kingdom | All Those Who Wander | A Quality of Mercy
Strange New Worlds season one, episode two let's gooooo...
There's a system named Persephone!
Disclaimer: Hazing is bad. But dinner in the captain's cabin is a really great introduction to Uhura's character. We get to see how she acts under pressure before the stakes are MUCH higher later in the episode
Ortegas' off duty attire is always so on point. Love it. More officers in their civvies, please
First mention of Enterprise Bingo (although wearing your dress uniform to a casual gathering is not one of the items on the list in the current iteration of the game seen in episode five - I'm guessing the rules change as new waves of cadets/yeomen/ensigns are stationed on the ship with a few fan favorites like singing the Scorch probably carry over)
Captain's dinner sounds like such a great opportunity for the lower decks to mingle and get to know the senior officers in a less formal setting. Plus, all the senior officers are also helping to make dinner which is an additional low-stress way to work in some team-building. A+
"My father like to say that I was unburdened by conversational boundaries." "So this will be fun for you, then." 😂
Ortegas immediately gets drafted to help refill drinks because she's senior staff, leaving Uhura without her wingman and man did I feel that moment of panic as she's left standing alone at the door
The captain is making enough ribs to feed an entire deck of people jfc lol
Hemmer and Uhura, as we will see, are always great together. And who can resist a character introduction where each side underestimates the other and ends up taking everyone down a peg.
Number One in the background casually listening in and ready with a glass of wine for Uhura after she tells Spock and Hemmer to get a life 😂
Spock trying to figure out when it's okay to laugh at someone else's misfortune is endearing
Uhura is IMPRESSIVE. Thirty-seven languages. T h i r t y - s e v e n. I can't even name 37 languages off the top of my head. And not just speaking those languages, but studying the linguistics of those languages as well which is a whole other animal. Damn girl.
Number One watching Pike as he chokes on the where do you want to be in 10 years question 🥺
Uhura being unsure of whether she belongs in Starfleet is relatable and refreshing to see! Also nice that her grandmother's stories inspired her to join - and nice to know some people really do get to retire from Starfleet and live, presumably, happy, quiet lives
Number One staying behind to wash dishes by herself so she can check on Pike and Pike being all I have to do this and her being all the future isn't written, I refuse to believe there isn't another way
Bridge troubleshooting!
Pike stage whispering "I love this job!" to Number One and then her s m i l e
This crew has the best WTF expressions
Guys we are just at the credits now
Ready Room troubleshooting!
Uhura's expressions is the correct expression for when one realizes their first away mission will be to a chunk of rock hurtling toward impact with a planet instead of like, a mission to make contact with a new alien species that looks like giant bunnies or something #ignoreme
La'An, be nice to Kirk and Uhura, they don't have balls of steel like you do. But nice continuity from the first episode as they receive the painful anti-cosmic ray hypos
Chapel flirting with oblivious Spock
And Kirk is immediately zapped by the space egg - but love the tricorder defibrillator and the fact that the Starfleet insignia on the exosuit is the point where the shock is delivered
The Deneb character designs are really beautiful - I would love to check back in with them post-planetary climate adjustment
Bridge troubleshooting II!
Spock being offended at Uhura's joke about him and Chapen is amazing, as is his insistence that logic is better suited for situation such as these (okay Mary Bennett)
The Shepherd ship is cool but excuse me where the eff were they hiding this whole time??
I am digging the alien designs this season. But why are they all blue except for the Gorn?
Oof, great example of the slide between religious observer (this is our sacred holy comet, pronouns are he/him, please stop shooting photon torpedo casings at him) and zealot (our sacred things are more important and sacred than anyone else's, even life itself, and therefore it does not matter what the consequences are, M'hanit will not be stopped).
Spock's pep talk on the comet
Spock realizing his earlier criticism of Uhura's motives and presence on the Enterprise after the captain's dinner was too harsh, contributing to her spiral into self-doubt, and then trying to fix it by saying that "Today, quite simply [she is] the only person for the job. Will you rise to see it through?"
The holy sparkling cave is muuuuuusical 😍
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME what position on the bridge does Number One even have? She just sits at whatever station she wants to, I guess? Even if there's already a crew member stationed there? Isn't she supposed to be the helmsman but she has never once actually driven the ship?? Help, I don't know how TOS-era bridge crews work #UnaNeedsADesignatedChair
Musical comet troubleshooting!
La'An claiming she can't sing and leaving Spock out to dry 😂
Spock and Uhura singing together and then the cave resonating the same tonal sequence gives me chills every time... and the way her face lights up when the egg opens! "So the right time for genius."
Star Trek impact falls are the best
Escape pattern April-Omega-3
Crazy space monks
Pike knowing about Ortegas bragging during the Academy is gold and I bet he picked her for the ship because of that energy
Evasive pattern Ortegas-Gamma-1
I like the way the shields aren't a bubble around the ship, more like an electric skin around the hull with luminescence when hit
Also, seeing actual evasive maneuvers on a ship larger than a shuttlecraft is exciting
The plan to move M'hanit is cool... the most epic game of "I'm not touching you" ever
Spock laughing
The space monks were right?! Still zealots
The completely unironic way Number One suggests that Spock's Ice Shuttle Adventure was foretold
Spock rescinding his criticism of Uhura, changing his opinion to be favorable toward her and acknowledging the strengths she brings regardless of how she has come to join their crew (A+ growth, Pike would be proud)
Number One and Pike sharing a drink in the ready room and having another heart to heart
#st:snw#star trek strange new worlds#children of the comet#this might be my favorite episode of the season#snw great things

(long text, I like to talk 'bout ships)
Ok, first of all, Scotty and Uhura - I love it! It came out of nowhere but they look so happy. Worf and Jadzia are perfect for each other. But killing Jadzia, however important to the plot it was, was just so brutal to Worf. Poor baby deserved a happy relationship more than anyone. Leetah and Rom? Who even got the idea? I don't know but they are so cute and just the right amount of cheesy. And Leetah is a nice step mom!
Okay, I feel awful for not remembering Sisko's new wife's (or was it just girlfriend's?) and Mile's wife's names. I only remember that they are bad arse women and their husbands know how lucky they are to be with them. 10/10 would love to see more relationships like that in Star Trek.
Worf and Deanna would have been really cute too. Deanna and Riker is also ok, but that will they won't they got pretty annoying.
Now, I haven't watched much VOY, so I forgot her name. I think his name was Neelix. If I remember correctly, she was killed off pretty quickly? Also, I think a father-daughter-kinda-relationship would have fitted better.
I stopped watching DIS after season 2 (I simply don't like it). The relationship between Spock's sister and the kinda-Klingon-spy was very angsty (weak, vulnerable men instead of women feels just so good), but then it got very weird with his character arch, I don't like it. DIS also brought the first gay main cast couple to Star Trek, which first was very cute! But then they killed one of them of in season 1 and I felt betrayed (killing the gays? again?). Sure, he got resurrected or something like that but their relationship got strained and that's just to much drama. I want less relationship drama in Star Trek. Give me relationships like Miles and Keiko (yey, finally remembered her name)!!
Now to PIC who made Seven canonically bi... I don't hate the idea in itself, but that one really came out of nowhere! They had a whole season to work on this and the just put a scene at the end where they're holding hands. That just makes it all feel so forced. As if someone said "Dang it, DIS has lgbt+ characters, we need one too!" Just let Picard have a boyfriend, you cowards. Now that would have been interesting.
Odo and Kira and Tom and B'Elanna have one thing in common. I don't like agressive impulsive characters. Yeah, they get calmer and more mature through the series, but I can't get rid of the first impression of them. That relationship Kira had at the beginning of the series was ok, I mean it was important for character development. I don't care much for Archer so whatever. And I haven't seen DIS season 3 so I have no idea who her new boyfriend is.
Now, I really DO NOT like that will they won't they around Picard and Beverly! Pining!Picard is totally fine with me, but Beverly deserves someone better.
I also did not like the other relationship Kira had, end of story. And Julian and Leetah definetly do not make a good couple either! I'm so glad Leetah stayed as a side character and the didn't kick her out of the show after the breakup with Julian. Julian and Ezri was a TERRIBLE idea, but I don't exactly hate it for multiple reasons. First, they break up pretty quickly in the novels. Second, it's important for BOTH their character development. Third, she gets to be one of Julian's closest friends next to Garak and Miles, I'm happy they stayed friends. Fourth, I remember reading a Star Trek novel where Julian was like "What am I doing? She is too young for me!" so I forgive him for this dumb desicion.
Archer and T'Pol is just a horrible idea! Why couldn't T'Pol stay single. Also, everyone else on this ship would be better for her than Archer lol.
I don't like Lorca and the Admiral. I don't remember why, but I remember I did not like it.
Spock and Uhura is definetly not my tea for multiple reasons. First, they break up in every film, that does not sound like a happy relationship to me. Second, it feels like Uhura can only be an important character if she's a love interest. Look at TOS! Uhura! She made me think "Yeah, she is a strong talented woman who needs no man at her side." Now that's a woman I was looking up to as a child.
I can't think of a single person who thought Data and dang-it-I forgot-her-name-too was a good idea. The whole plot was just there to say "Data can fuck" and I hate it. Chakotay and Seven was also a terrible idea.
If you've read this till the end then wow thank you why would you do that I can't believe I've spent an hour on this post.
Fuck it Star Trek canon relationship tier list it may be missing some but it’s only because everyone refused to beta test it for me

snw2 #10
My personal episode ranking based on my enjoyment: 3 - 9 - 6 - 4 - 10 - 2 - 8 - 1 - 7 - 5 (might change after I do a rewatch)
I loved the whole season so much <3
Sam Kirk is really lucky that he can't die lol
AFTER 20 EPISODES THEY FINALLY GAVE ME A MEANINGFUL SPOCK AND UNA INTERACTION. WOW. will wonders never cease? Send me gifs! :D
Why was I right thinking that there would be another legacy character surprise in the finale? [I'm kinda not a fan of how much he's trying to copy the original tho...]
also La’an just remembering the roster of Cayuga… reading Jim Kirk’s personnel file (but apparently not Sam’s?)
glad to know that my prediction that Spock and Chapel won't end on a bad note this season came true (I mean, yes, at the beginning of the season I thought they would end it (because I didn't expect them to end Spock and T'Pring), but as the season progressed, and especially after the musical, I was like nah, they're still not finished with Spock/Chapel, and it's nice that their relationship ended on a hope - considering the looong hiatus. I mean maybe they both apologize, Chapel leaves, and that's it, but until then...)
(before the musical, before the whole business with Kirk/La'an, I was like, yeah, the season might end up with Spock/Chapel separated, but when they broke La'an's heart, I was like there's no way they're gonna end all three romantic relationships as separated by the end of the season)
Marie isn't dead either, so there is also hope for them to figure out how to save her. idk like they can freeze her, can't they? (that's typically what happens when a character is put into a stasis at the end of the season - well, they might subvert the expectations, but I think letting her live is already subverting the expectations) [if she can't be saved, I don't think Pike would start another romantic relationship... not with anyone in Starfleet, at least]
The finale doing what I more or less expected with the relationships, makes me feel good about what I still expect for Kirk/La'an (don't wanna people start saying La'an's gonna die in the first ep of s3 now tho - like what writing would that be if she lost a love, got her heart broken, and then was immediately killed by the Gorn who took her entire family and were half of the cause why she can't be vulnerable and is distant from everyone?)
guess only babies are really really aggressive and adult Gorns are more like the one in the Arena
kinda fun that I expected the Enterprise crew to be split up, but a bit differently - i.e. Pike's group stuck on the planet
now La'an is back among the Gorn (that was also a cliffhanger I expected) :( With Sam and others. Maybe in the first episode of s3, Kirk will come and save the day LMAO (I don't want that but it's just fun to think about - fun things to think about VS what I want to see in the show are two separate things) (yes, don't @ me that Kirk didn't know what a Gorn was)
"Sam, trying to play a hero?" "Shut up, Jim."
(and then the Farragut will take in Scotty. Even though some novels did always have Uhura and Scott serve under Pike - maybe SNW will give us background for Scott/Uhura 👀 (even though I personally like Chekov/Uhura)) But no, I don't expect Scotty to stay.
s3 bring on McCoy!
