When your mom married Sakumo three years ago you thought your Clueless fantasy was about to come true. Your new step brother, Kakashi, was stupid hot. He was blessed with a gorgeous angular face, deep brown eyes, thick silky silver hair and a mouthwatering scar over his left eye. He loved to walk around the house either in fitted muscle tanks or shirtless with only loose gray sweats, showing off his chiseled frame. On top of that he had big masculine hands with perfectly manicured fingers that you would daydream about grazing your most sensitive areas. He was going to be your Josh and you were Cher waiting for him to fall madly in love with you.
Only it turned out he was a complete and total ass.
Soon after your parents got together he had been accepted to Harvard and loved to lord over everyone what a genius he is. You quickly grew a distaste for the prick and got cheeky whenever he felt the need to remind you of his superiority.
Currently you are a freshman in college starting your second semester at UMass. You chose to live at home to keep your mom company since you didn’t like the idea of living in a tiny dorm room with some random roommate you didn’t know. Kakashi on the other hand, just got kicked out of the dorms last semester and was finishing his Junior year at home with you and your parents.
It turns out you were not the only person he liked to mouth off to. He got into several arguments with many of his dorm mates and the RA. Eventually he was banned from on-campus housing and now you were left to suffer through daily interactions with the world's most annoying step brother.
Always his insufferable self, recently Kakashi has been extra creepy. He seems to have forgotten what a shirt is and rarely had one on his back. Sometimes you thought you caught him palming himself out of the corner of your eye and you would catch him staring at you when you get ready to go out with your friends. Most annoyingly, sometimes he’d hang out in your bedroom when you were trying to get ready for bed.
“Can I help you?”
“Just making sure you’re not so brain dead that you forgot how to put on pants. I know it can be hard for some people.”
“Oh is that so? Cause I was just making sure you didn't forget how to shut your mouth. I know it can be hard for some people.”
“Careful, now. You should really mind who you’re speaking to that way.”
“Sorry, I don’t take kindly to creeps who think I’m too stupid to put on pants. Is that why they kicked you out? Cause you were trying to show girls how to put on their pants?”
Kakashi furiously charged up to you and got right in your face. You were scared but you weren’t gonna show him that. Instead you glare at him.
“Watch it kid or you’ll find yourself in a world of trouble.”
“Threats don’t work with me big bro. Try again some other time.”
Angry, he left the room. Closing his door with a snap.
It had been like this for weeks. His unwelcome presence always looming around. You hated the way he looked at you. It was like he was hunting for a reason to tear you down. Whether it was your degree, your ‘public university’ education, or your slutty outfit choices. The guy needed a life. Most of the time you’d quip back but sometimes you just didn’t have the energy and instead roll your eyes. Tonight was one of those nights. Sakumo and your mom were out of town on a romantic getaway so you were going out while Kakashi tried to lord over you as the ‘man of the house.’
“Ah you going to see your boy toy? You know you’re never going to get a respectable man dressed like that.”
I’m not going to see any boy toy, I’m going out with my friends.”
You see him give a smug smirk at your answer
“Besides, it’s not up to you if I’m looking for a respectable man or not. Maybe I’m not looking for one at all.”
“So just looking to be a little whore. I see how it is.”
You glare at him before rolling your eyes.
“I’m out. See you later, loser.”
You catch Kakashi’s face paint in fury as you leave. He hated how you constantly try to undermine him. He hated that you were such a brat. And he truly hated how no one ever put you in your place.
********************************************
You loudly came home at 2am from partying with your friends. You were a little inebriated and stumbled to the kitchen to get water before heading upstairs to bed. You make your way up the stairs, tripping over your high heels. You get to your bedroom and when you turn on the light you see Kakashi already laying in your bed.
“Seriously, what’s your problem?”
“I have no problem. I’m not the one getting home at 2 am after a night of underage drinking.”
You were hit with a wave of sobriety at his words. If he told your mom, you’d be screwed. Seeing your expression, he knew he had you cornered. Kakashi stands up and walks past you as if he’s leaving the room, putting himself between you and the door before changing his mind and closing it.
“Remember when I said you should watch it?”
He turns to you, taking a step forward. You begin to stumble backwards towards the bed.
“You’re such a filthy brat” he spits.
You continue to stumble backwards, your heels slipping off your feet.
“And there's nothing I love more than putting a brat in her place.”
Your eyes widen in fear as you see a dark smile stretch across his face. Calves hitting the bed, you fall down to the floor and Kakashi weaves his strong hands into your hair, pulling it back so you’re forced to stare up at him. Your mind hazy, you begin to realize exactly how he imagines putting you in your place and it causes you to tremble.
He tugs down his sweatpants and pulls out his length. Its weight slaps you in the face with a heavy thud. You flinch in his grasp but his fingers tighten in your locks as he begins beating you with his manhood.
“Drunk little girls like you don’t deserve to brush their teeth with a toothbrush. They only get to brush their teeth with cock. Now open that brat mouth for me.”
“No!”
Kakashi spits on your face. “I said open”
In your outrage you open your mouth about to hurl an insult at him when he shoved himself between your lips and pushed your head all the way down to his stomach. You were gagging and retching around him. You pushed against his thighs with all your might but your pathetic drunken arms were no match for his robust muscular physique.
“That’s it. Choke on my cock you twerp.”
He groaned as he feels you constrict around his tip in an attempt to swallow air. Your eyes were tearing up from oxygen deprivation and your entire body was rigid in your struggle. He roughly pulls you up and down on him, pummeling your throat with a manhood much too large for your mouth. You feel your jaw lock as you open wide, tears falling freely from your eyes.
He pulls you off of him and slaps your drool and tear drenched face.
“Look at you. Just a little slut swallowing me so good. It seems college has at least taught you how to swallow dick so I guess your tuition has been put to good use.”
Your chest is heaving as you gulp down fresh air, seeing two of him with inebriated eyes while the pain of your hair being pulled registers in your hazy mind.
“Again.”
He plummets into your mouth once more, fucking your face while you choke. Drool dribbling past your lips and down the front of your dress. He threatens you,
“Don’t even think about running to mommy. I’ll tell her all about how drunk you were and how you came onto me and you’ll be grounded and not allowed to see your little friends for the rest of the semester. Got it?”
He shakes your head with the hand grasping your hair. You whine ‘yes’ with a full mouth as you cry out from the pain. He retreats from your throat and you cough while he shoves you face down on your bed. He bends you over its edge, ass facing him. You desperately bring your hands to the back of your head, trying to pull off the hand tangled in your hair. He pushes you down into the mattress with force majeure and you sob from your dishonorable predicament.
“Resisting is futile little sis. This is what happens to brats who don’t know their place.”
He pulls up the skirt of your mini dress and yanks down your strappy thong.
“Who are you wearing this slutty underwear for, huh? I thought you weren’t going to meet up with any boys” you hear a hum of amusement from his chest. “Did you wear this for me?”
“Fuck off” you choke.
“Ah, you see? You shouldn’t have said that.” He spreads your legs and brings his hand up to forcefully slap your sex. You yelp and flinch.
“This is the very attitude I was talking about sis.” He slaps you again, this time harder.
“Someone’s gotta beat this out of you.” He slaps you again, this time with significant strength.
Kakashi catches some arousal dripping out of you when he removes his hand from your folds. He lets out a chuckle. “Seems like you’re enjoying this.”
His words burn you with embarrassment and reignite your struggles till he plunges his fingers inside of your gummy cunt. You gasp at his uninvited intrusion. He feels around, stroking in and out, coating his knuckles in your secretions. As he toys with you he hits your sweet spot and an involuntary groan spills past your lips.
“Oh, you like that, huh?”
You shake your head ‘no’ but when he does it again you moan once more, walls tightening around his fingers. He pulls out of you and spanks your cheek causing you to cry.
“You’re not supposed to enjoy it brat.” he snarls before sinking his fingers into you again.
He maliciously milks your sweet spot, driving you to a crazed state. You struggle to refrain from moaning but if you fail and a cry slips past your lips be brings a heavy palm down on your rear with so much force that the red handprints quickly turn purple. He repeats the torturous process till you are thrashing in his grasp and he has to pull you up by your hair to pin you down on the bed with his body weight on top of you to stop your struggle.
Kneeling on either side of your arms, weight on your chest, he can see the mascara run down your cheeks. He swells with pride seeing you made messy by his hands. He shoves himself back into your mouth. You kick and try to push him off of you but he has no patience for your misbehavior. He reaches behind himself and gives you a slap between your legs.
Your resulting squeal vibrates along his shaft. A pleasured growl rumbles from his chest so he continues to reach around, beating against your cunt while he thrusts in and out of your mouth.
Your fingers begin to dig into him, scratching up his legs as you desperately try to get him off of you. He rips himself from your mouth and grabs you by your wrists.
“You wanna play rough, sis? I can give you rough.”
He gives you a shit eating grin as he leans all his weight on your restrained wrists and uses his knees to spread your legs. You feel the heat of his length rub against your folds as he gets his body into position. You quickly realize you’re losing the war and he’s going to get exactly wants. You squirm and wiggle your hips trying to stop him from sinking in. In his frustration he pulls down the top of your dress and slaps your tit. You feel the sting as your arm goes to his chest but he quickly recaptures your wrist.
“Stop moving” he warns
“Fuck you loser!”
“Gladly”
The most sickening smile splits his face as he sinks himself deep into you. A loud groan is pushed out of you as he shoves your organs out of the way with his fat cock.
“Wanna say that again?” he croons in your ear
You look up at him with doe eyes, not ready for how he is about to tear you apart and shake your head ‘no’
“That’s what I thought.”
He glides into you slow and deep, making sure you feel every vein as he violates you. He loves watching your eyes go wide every time he bottoms out, pausing to feel the full effect of him stuffing you. You whimper and groan stretched more than you thought possible, helplessly trapped. There was no running, no way out. You were alone and defenseless.
Nevertheless you struggle under his weight, trying to free your wrists. Annoyed by your incessant struggle he decides to bring them above your head and pin them together, freeing up his hand so he can grab your nipple, squeezing it between his index finger and thumb. You squirm as he applies pressure.
“Keep resisting and see what happens” Kakashi threatens as he pulls up with your bud trapped in his pinch. You draw breath through your teeth, the pain consuming your thoughts. Not even registering that he hasn’t stopped rutting into you the entire time.
“Gahh!”
“Understand?” You’re so focused on the pain in your nipple that all you do is whimper. “Answer me!” he barks with a twist of your nub
“Nggh! Fine!” Your eyes are screwed shut. You begin to open them when he releases your captive bud but you flinch when he slaps your tit again.
He grabs your face, smushing your cheeks together.
“See, I knew you could follow directions. That’s a smart girl”
You loathed him but you couldn’t help how your walls were restricting around him. His size massaged your sweet slit in such a gratifying way. Your body completely betrayed your mind. It seemed completely out of touch with the gravity of your situation. He left you breathless, your lungs forgetting how to breathe, as he pummeled into you.
Anger on your mind, you watched him as he watched you. You pan over his stinging brown eyes, his angular features, and the mole that sits just below his drool inducing lips. He was hot and you hate him all the more for it.
Disgust written on your mug as he studies you, anxiously waiting to watch you break. He picks up a little speed and you groan into it. You immediately regret the noise when you see a smug simper stretch on his face. You try to give him a glare but he hits you with a particularly sharp thrust and your face betrays you as your mouth falls open and your profile softens from pleasure.
“I knew you were just a weak little slut.”
“Shut up.”
He slaps your face. “Wanna try that again?”
You attempt another glare at him but he thrusts up into you in a way that hits a sweet spot and you mewl for him.
“Ah! Thank you, ah.”
His chuckle makes your stomach twist as you realize what you said.
“Ahh, she has manners.” condescension thick. You truly hate him.
He continues to thrust against the same spot making you pant under him. You cry pleasured screams from the sensation. He kept going, enjoying the view of you coming undone against your will.
The sounds of your submission were getting a touch too loud. Trusting that you would behave, he strips off his shirt to reveal his well defined muscular frame beneath. He balls up the hem and shoves it in your mouth before returning a hand to your wrists, obediently still crossed together, waiting to be restrained again.
You hated how good it felt. The recognition of him pleasuring you made you feel slimy on the inside, and desperate to get him off of you. He was your brother. Your arrogant asshole of a brother, yet he had you panting and crying beneath him. He was such a sick fuck.
He gains speed. Beginning to bang the headboard into the wall. The sound thundering through the quiet night. Good thing the parents weren’t home to hear you cause he was beginning to lose his composure. He had been so careful to conceal his hunger but it was evident in his eyes that he was wild with lust. You sing into your gag, eyes beginning to roll back into your head. His unrelenting pace, his careful aim, and his grunts combined into a euphoric melody that had you spasming around him, calling his name through the gag. Your body stiffened as the orgasm tore through you.
“That’s a good brat. See how good it is to behave?”
You dumbly nod your head as the aftershocks course through your system. He strokes slowly allowing you to fall limp before he barks at you again.
“Get on your knees” he says, lifting his weight off of your wrists. He helps you flip over on your stomach and his hands pull up your hips so they are aligned with his pelvis. You attempt to support your weight on your arms when he pushes your head back down, roughly shoving you into the mattress.
“Brats get fucked like whores. Lift your slut face off the sheets and there will be consequences..”
You cry out as you obey his command. He pushes in just the tip and you anxiously close around it before he pulls out again. You hate the way you whined from how empty you felt. He pushes in just a little deeper before retreating again, toying with you to prove his point. This time when he begins to line up his tip you rock your hips all the way back so he ‘s buried inside of you. You hadn’t anticipated how the angle would overstimulate you and you gasp about to pull away but his hands grab your hips and hold you steady. He begins to chuckle.
“Such a twerp, complaining about something you did to yourself.”
You loathe yourself for how you sought him out just now. He was assaulting you and you were practically begging him to fill you. It was all a game to him and your pathetic response was exhilarating.
He brings his hand down on your backside that was already bruised and purple from his earlier battery. You feel tears prick at the corners of your eyes, cries muffled by his shirt. He strikes you more. Every time you try to tuck your tail under to avoid the abuse he pushes down on your back. You were not running away from him. You were a mouse trapped in the maze.
He begins to ram into you, the plush tissue of your behind rippling violently as his hips collide into you on repeat. Your fingers spread and grip onto your duvet for dear life as he bullies himself deep into you.
You can’t handle the feeling. He’s too big! You lift yourself up trying to change the angle, trying to find relief, when his formidable hands sweep across your neck and choke you. He pulls you up just enough that your arms couldn’t reach the mattress and your entire body weight was supported by his grip on your neck. His hands sink into your trachea with every plummet into your slick cavern.
You claw at his hands on your neck, trying to get under his fingers to lift the pressure from your windpipe so you could breathe. Your attempts were futile. Eventually your hands grip his wrists, giving up on being allowed to breathe.
“I told you not to lift your face. Here I thought you were learning your lesson.”
Seeing the gag start to fall out of your mouth, he lifts one hand off your neck to stuff it deeper before returning it to your throat. You spasm around him, tears spilling from your eyes, back involuntarily bowing, allowing him to push against your diaphragm. He knocked the wind out of you without allowing you to catch your breath. His cruelty leaves you putty in his hands, pliable and bending to his will. Gushing around his girth, broken and winded.
“Now you’re starting to get the picture.”
Pleasured cries permeate through the fabric in your mouth. He doesn’t plan on letting up any time soon either. He’s enjoying the view too much. Your glutes shake with each thrust while they’re spread wide open. He hones in on your puckered rear when he remembers what he found when he was snooping in your room.
He pulls out of you and grabs you around the waist, pulling your back into his cut chest, possessively holding you so you can’t run away as he drags you across the bed where he can reach into your nightstand drawer. He pulls out your tiny black plug with a blue gem on the end. You look over and through your dazed state you realize what he grabbed and you start to protest.
“No, no, no, no” you say through the cloth.
He shoves you down pulling your hips up once more and shoving your face back into the bed so your cries cannot be heard. His spit falls onto your rear, pooling over your sphincter where he pushes down on the tapered tip of your plug. You begin to wail.
“What’s all the fuss for? This is your’s, is it not? I thought whores liked having their holes stuffed.”
You tried pulling away but his grip on your hips tightened and he slammed back into you enjoying the friction of where the plug encroached on the space in your tunnel.
You looked so beautiful with the blue gem protruding out of your dirty hole. He was definitely going to do this to you again. He was going to make you beg him for it once he was done putting you in your place.
The thought of you coming to his room, plug in place, to get another taste of his fat cock made him ravenous. He rails into you using every drop of athleticism he has. You start to scream and go dizzy. His heavy balls slap into the bundle of nerves swelling between your legs. Eventually they swing into you with so much voracity that you twitch with each stroke of his hips. Your face began to melt into the mattress from his pounding and you are certain he will break your neck from the force.
He flips you over, pushing your hips up so your knees are by your face, ass high in the air. He stands on the bed and sinks himself between your lips, thrusting down into you with all his might. Abdominals flexing with each thrust, passionate grunts bending you in half. The impossible positions shredding what was left of your once tight pussy.
“Take it little slut.”
He can see the helpless tears leak from your eyes as you feel every inch of him being swallowed up by your soiled cunt.
“Fuck Kakashi” you moan between labored breaths.
He smirks. He had you just where he wanted you. He only needed to push you over the edge. He reached down and begins whirling circles around your clit. You shriek and knock your knees together. But his silky chuckle cuts your mind like a knife. The fucker was laughing at you. You squirm but your current position was so compromising you couldn’t move. He plays with you rubbing more vigorously. You scream and holler under him unfamiliar with such intensity as this.
“Ple-Pl-ease” you dumbly whine.
“Please what, sis? You’ll need to speak up”
“M-may I c-cu-mm?”
He pounds into you without relenting. “Sorry, I didn’t quite catch that”
He was such an abhorrent ass but the heat in your lower belly was boiling over and you needed to release. You try to phish your voice from the back of your mind but it’s swimming and the way he drags along your ridges while swirling your sensitive bud has you desperate for him.
“Gah! Please l’me cum!”
The glint in his eyes sickened you but you didn’t have the strength to care as he readjusted his stroke to pound into the sweet spot he found earlier. Your entire body convulsed under him as you had the most intense orgasm of your life.
Kakashi, pleased with his successful session of taming you, feels his own gratification on its precipice.
He pulls out of your quaking cunt with a slap to your sensitive clit causing your hips to fall to the mattress with a cry. Your destroyed state was erotic. Helplessly shaking, sweat all over your body, dress bunched around your stomach, hair knotted and messy, ass still plugged and tears drenching your face. His fingers seek out your hair to hold you still while he paints your face white.
“That’s a good girl. Take your reward.”
You tremble in his arms. When his seed can no longer shoot from his tip and simply oozes from his slit Kakashi presses himself against your lips. You part them slightly to give it a kiss leaving him to shutter from sensitivity.
“Yes, very good”
He brushes your cheek with his thumb pad smearing his cum along your skin. You look up at him pathetically and he smiles down on you.
“There we go sweet sister. That’s much better.”
You make a little whine that he finds so precious.
“Go clean yourself up little one.” he pets your head before pulling on his sweatpants and tucking himself away. “I’m going to bed. Feel free to join me if you want.”
He grabs his shirt, throwing it over his shoulder before lacing both hands together behind his head as he walks away.
Your lip quivers as you entertain the idea, realizing you were hopelessly hooked.
Shakily you get up, pulling your dress off the rest of the way and walk naked to the bathroom. Kakashi glances over from his bed as he sees you through the crack in his bedroom door before exhaustion lulls him to sleep.
He wakes up a half hour later to your weak-willed body slipping into his bed completely naked. He opens his arms, letting you settle into his chest before he closes them around you. You exhale with a small sigh and in your mind you know you would be yearning for the next time the two of you are home alone so he could tie you up and brutally defile you again.
He plants a kiss on your forehead, mind flooded with gratification at finally breaking you down into such a needy state.
He reaches down between your cheeks to see you kept your plug in tact. He gives it a small tug and you look up at him with a whine. He nuzzled your nose and whispers to you in his silky smooth voice before gently pressing a kiss on your lips.
“Such a filthy brat”

List of Your Ten Childhood Ships
Thanks @lizzybeth1986 for tagging me. So I’m counting childhood as “before high school” so up until spring of 1997. I am an 80s baby, who was a 90s child (and a 90s/00s teenager, but that is a list for another time).
1. Zack and Kelly, Saved by the Bell
Saved by the Bell was one of my favourite shows in my tweens and I had a big crush on Zack Morris (yeah, he was blonde but the cocky, scheming type has always had appeal). I loved Zack and Kelly together and consistently rooted for them.
2. Jake and Tiffany, California Dreams
I watched a lot of Teen NBC when I was young 😂 and of course I liked the leather-jacket, motor-cycle wearing musician and his cute blonde surfer girlfriend. I feel like Jake Summers had a major impact on my taste for the rest of my life.
3. Lir and Amalthea, The Last Unicorn
This movie broke my heart at the age of 4. I always joke that this is what made me a villain lover, because I hated how Lir being a hero meant he had to give up Amalthea and let her save the unicorns 😂.
4. Sony and Brenda, General Hospital
I grew up watching soap operas, mainly General Hospital because it is the one my grandmother and then my mom watched. While Sonny and Brenda definitely influenced my teen ships years, they also influenced the pre-teen years and ai couldn’t resist this combo. “Why settle for a spark when you can set the world on fire?”
5. Anne and Gilbert, Anne of Green Gables
I am a Canadian girl, I grew up on the Anne books and I fell in love early with the spirited Anne Shirley and the incredibly patient (but not pushy) Gilbert Blythe. I love their love story.
6. Elizabeth Wakefield and Todd Wilkins, Sweet Falley High
This one did not hold up 😂 and the series itself did a good job of murdering this ship, but when I was a kid I loved them together and the one where he comes back after moving was my favorite. I remember I even specially ordered it because our local book story didn’t have it and neither did the library.
7. Cher and Josh, Clueless
I love Clueless, it is one of my all-time favorite movies and definitely influenced pre-teen Misha. Is the step-sibling romance a little weird? Yep. But at the time, all I cared about was the chemistry and that Paul Rudd was cute.
8. Westley and Buttercup, The Princess Bride
Again, I was an 80s child. I grew up on this movie. This is what true love was. And ok, the fact that the far:boy went off and became a bad-ass pirate was pretty cool.
9. Xena and Ares, Xena Warrior Princess
This is one that also falls into “high school” ships, but I started watching the show in elementary school, so it counts. I fell in love with Ares the first time he appeared, when he was very obviously the bad guy.
10. Sabrina and Harvey, Sabrina the Teenage Witch
I just thought these two were so sweet together (see I have layers, I like sweet ships too) and I liked that the obstacle in their relationship was never their feelings, it was everything else and Harvey was just such a perfect first boyfriend.
Honorable Mention: Blossom and Vinnie, Blossom
Tagging @jerzwriter @the-unconquered-queen @ladysophiebeckett @boneandfur @walkerismychoice @liliplayschoices @brightpinkpeppercorn @shynmighty @countessogilvy @hellomynameisdevi

the summer i turned pretty 1x05 review -- if i can't have conrad there's always jere
Belly, I'm sure they gave you a schedule. You knew there was going to be dancing.
Also details like Belly is seemingly fine with Nicole stepping in to be her dance partner during rehearsal but she should feel if not guilty then at least awkward around her so she almost kissed Conrad.
This is why Taylor says that you're self-absorbed and don't care about anyone else, Belly.
Also, it's wild to me that your best friend will have that conversation with you and then you proceed to make a woman's funeral about yourself. Where is the self-reflection?
Like you were all "omg what am I going to text Conrad, what emoji should I put with my text" and you're just ... dancing with Nicole?
And anons want to ask why we hate Belly when we've liked messy teens before? SERENA HAD MORE SHAME. SERENA. And Serena had moments, man, where it was just like, I don't know why you're mad at Blair, you slept with her boyfriend.
"Does Jere take anything seriously?" "Yeah, food and flirting" SOUND JEALOUS, STEVEN
Every time Jeremiah is supposed to be extroverted and fun-loving and charming, I'm just like
Conrad, you MUST know that Nicole would be where Belly is since she was a deb and you took her to the deb ball last summer.
I also like the blatant advertisement for Alexa.
You two are terrible. NICOLE IS RIGHT THERE.
Then Conrad texting Belly and Belly grinning with Nicole right there?
"You think I was just a petty fuck." "You're hotter than he is." She's not wrong. All of these pretty Black women/women of colour (and girls) and these basic to ugly white men (and boys) on TV. It needs to be stopped.
"If Shayla called you right now" -- jealous boyfriends.
Nicole is the one who's being played hot and cold.
Jeremiah telling her to bring him to a Frank Ocean concert knowing that he likes Belly is not fair to her, like in terms of the drama that would cause with Conrad and Belly, I don't care because they're both being terrible but Nicole does not deserve this.
"I mean we grew up together so I always thought of her as this little kid but now ... she's not." a) that sounds way creepier than intended like some Jacob and Renesmee shit b) they honestly should've done more to indicate that he's really seeing her now. Like I obviously know he's supposed to because of all the dialogue around how she's pretty now from everyone else and "omg Belly you look SO hot" in a simple, cutesy floral tank top but I mean if it's going to be Annie and Jeff then be Annie and Jeff.
Of course Annie and Jeff actually had tension
At least be Josh and Cher
COME ON, MAN.
"I'm bummed but I'll be fine" because Belly is terrible.
Cam does not deserve the lyrics to this song he was nothing but NICE to Belly if anything this song should be playing with Cam walking away.
I just find it super lazy to rely on portraying the munchies to show how high they're supposed to be.
Is Jere supposed to be Puck or something?
Lol when your mom puts you in the friendzone with your crush.
"Well I'm sure you got a perfect score" *laughs* oh we're doing racism in this episode. And it was actually done well. Just not when it's antiblackness which isn't surprising
"How come no one ever wants to play with me?" she booped you on the nose bro.
ok finally. something that is ACTUALLY hot and cold. "i'm not waiting for you anymore" does he know she'd been waiting for him?
Also not waiting for him shouldn't then mean making out with Jere.
"What happened to the boy I loved since I was ten" well Belly either he always knew you liked him and ignored it because he didn't see you the same way even when he was idk nicer I guess or he was clueless that you liked him but either way you never had his affection before this.
Also I like how in season 2 Jere was all I USED TO LOOK UP TO YOU EVERYONE ALWAYS THOUGHT YOU WERE BETTER THAN ME IN EVERYTHING and there is literally nothing to suggest any of those dynamics this season.
I can't fuck things up with Belly and treat her like shit but you know who I can do that to? Nicole.
Well if I can't get attention from one brother then I can from the other. "Susannah said when I was born she knew I was destined for one of her boys. I always thought it'd be Conrad" but Jere's the one in front of me so. You didn't think about him at ALL Belly.
It's funny actually watching the pool kiss because it's actually quite short and tame.

HARD FEELINGS, the new collaborative project of Hot Chip's Joe Goddard and Amy Douglas, have signed to Domino and unveiled their debut outing 'Holding On Too Long' which is teamed with a Katie Paul-directed video. Douglas says of their debut single, "'Holding On Too Long' is the common denominator of the entire musical union of Amy and Joe. In this "opera of sad bangers" here is its key aria, its "Un Bel Di" from Madame Butterfly or the "Mad Scene" from Lucia Di Lammermour, the unforgettable moment of the story wherein our heroine stands up defiantly and has her moment to wail, scream and cry her pain and fury centre stage to the world." HARD FEELINGS was formed after Goddard reached out to Douglas on Twitter after hearing her work, and simply asking: "Amy, can we make a thing?" [via Line Of Best Fit]

After recently announcing her debut album Flaw Flower is due June 25 via Illegal Data, London-based musician Harriet Zoe Pittard, aka Zoee, is sharing another slice of her multi-faceted art-pop sounds with her new single'Host'. Speaking about the track, Zoee said "Host’ describes the disconcertingly replicant-like nature of a once starry-eyed lover who becomes increasingly detached. The video is inspired by The Twilight Zone and was shot on location in a forest close to where I grew up in Berkshire."

Nashville-based songwriter Madi Diaz releases 'Nervous,' a new single about recognizing unhealthy coping mechanisms. The song’s frank lyrics are bellied by infectious guitar and Diaz’s buoyant voice: “I know why I lie to myself // I’m not really looking to get healthy // I have so many perspectives I’m losing perspective I make me nervous.” The accompanying video was shot in Nashville and directed by Jordan Bellamy. It was inspired by and includes an homage to the final scene of Andrei Tarkovsky's film The Stalker, a film that has always resonated with Diaz through its otherworldly nature, as well as its thoughtful and often anxiety inducing pace. “You know when you hold a mirror up to a mirror and you get an infinite amount of reflections from every angle? That’s what ‘Nervous’ is about,” says Diaz. “It’s when you’re in a loop of looking at yourself from every vantage point until you’re caught up in your own tangled web of bullshit. It’s about catching yourself acting out your crazy and you’re finally self-aware enough to see it, but you’re still out of your body enough and curious enough to watch yourself do it.”

Buzzy duo XVOTO have announced that their eagerly-awaited debut EP will be arriving on June 4 on One Two Many. Sharing new single ‘Friends’ alongside the news, Jazz Alonso explains that the track is rooted in “the people who have irreversibly changed you and then having to pretend you’re unphased by them when you’re in the same room. Meanwhile you’re trying to work out what your new boundaries are: can you talk about the past? Can you cry together? Can you show how much pain you’re in around them? ‘If you fish me, I’ll play dead’ means: if you make a move, I’ll pretend I’m dead inside and don’t want you back.” Accompanied by a new vid, Jazz adds, “For this video I always imagined an aquarium because of the fish lyrics and because I think looking at fish in a tank is a really nice symbol of looking back at a relationship: you’ll always have your take on it and feel you have control over that narrative cause it’s a memory, but the reality is that truth is fluid and moves. You’re not looking at an image, you’re looking at something that’s alive. Then the scenes of us getting tattooed on our backs are symbols for something beautiful that scars you - you might move on from something but it’ll still inform the way you move forward. In the video there’s some cheating, some reminiscing, some beauty and some pain.” [via DIY]

Ashe has released new cut 'Me Without You' as the latest singe off her debut album Ashlyn. It comes teamed with a Jason Lester-directed video. Ashe says of the new single, "'Me Without You' is my follow up to 'Moral Of The Story'. It's saying you thought that I needed you to be who I am. There is my past relationship...I had multiple people... You know, assumed that I needed them in my life to feel confident or to be me and "Me Without You" is just this record that's like, ‘Ooh, I am so good on my own'." [via Line Of Best Fit]

Mia Nicolai is a true internationalist. Born in Amsterdam to a Russian mother, she learned from a young age to move between languages and cultures, accepting them as equal. This all fuels her future-pop vision, a trans-genre approach laden with colour, one that picks from multiple sources. New single 'People Pleaser' is a surging, coherent, ultra-potent offering, a song that dwells on identity, and the processes by which it is defined. "This song is about the journey towards finding yourself," she explains. "It can be very difficult to be true to your inner values when all you do is please the people around you instead of your inner needs. I’ve always come across as a strong-minded person. But in reality, I’m capable of helping everyone BUT myself. At some point I felt so uncomfortable in my own skin that I couldn’t even breathe properly..." We're able to share the dazzling new video, directed by Isabelle Griffioen and produced by That’s What She Set. A surreal but completely engaging experience, it embodies everything Mia Nicolai sets out to do - put people on the back foot, and alert them to her presence. [via Clash]

Singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams has shared her poignant new single 'Mess It Up' and its accompanying video via Interscope Records. Directed by Matty Peacock, the video for 'Mess It Up' finds Abrams attempting to bake a cake and repeatedly dropping the gorgeously frosted final product on the ground. That bittersweet back-and-forth between determination and disappointment is a perfect match for Abrams’s incisive lyrics, which simultaneously convey a deep longing for forgiveness and an unshakable sense of frustration. Produced by and co-written with her frequent collaborator Blake Slatkin, the track’s stark guitar work and driving rhythms slowly take on a powerful momentum, ultimately building to a sweetly triumphant climax. [via Vacancy]

Vocalist and guitarist Maya Delilah shares the visuals for her new single 'Need A Word With Cupid'. The track unravels into a punchy number that gives you a hit of both dopamine and female empowerment. Written about realising your worth after a relationship breakup, Maya’s lyrics are little witty statements that we can all use to remind ourselves who the hell we are. “Last Tuesday morning I just realised you’re shit” – it’s the truth. The video sees her waiting in cupid’s reception ready to get her money back because, damn, this boy was not worth her energy. At. All. 'Need A Word With Cupid' is a brilliant narrative that’s not only relatable but also incredibly good. Brimming with smooth guitar tones and a catchy beat, this is a single that leaves you wanting so much more. A self-love anthem for the modern woman, 'Need A Word With Cupid' is an indie-pop bop. Maya says: “'Need A Word With Cupid' was written after my breakup when I felt a sudden hit of empowerment after the realisation that my ex was not worth another tear over. It’s an energetic and uplifting song with soul influences and of course a guitar solo to end.“ [via LOCK]

With her debut EP Digital Meadow arriving on May 28, Dora Jar is sharing the video for her single ‘Multiply’. “I am my truest form when I am changing shape, morphing sounds, and shifting my point of view,” she says of the forthcoming EP. “This project is an exploration of my impulse to shape-shift. That’s my ambition.” [via DIY]

Telenova's new-arriving single 'Tranquilize' makes it two-from-two for the band, deeper solidifying their rich blend of sounds while showing how it can move into further areas, taking on new energies - or emphasising other energies - as more songs come to light. 'Tranquillize', for example, has a heavier weighting on that live instrumentation, giving the song this more alt-pop-meets-R&B spin when combined with Angeline's brilliant-as-ever vocals. As she explains, the single was the first for Telenova, written on the day they began working with one another. "I was actually flicking through a thesaurus and the word ‘Tranquilize’ jumped out at me, it just rang so nicely on the tongue and was so inherently visceral," she says. "I was humming gibberish over the hypnotic Rhodes chords that Josh had laid down, and we heard what sounded like ‘Poseidon’s on the water’ - it was the first time in a writing session with Ed and Josh, and the first time I’d been in a writing session where a poetic, literary lyric idea like that wasn’t shunned and coined as ‘unrelatable’. It resonated. We followed the thread, playing into Siren mythology as a metaphor for falling in love - the power of attraction to transfix and tranquillize you." The single also arrives with an official video clip, directed by Angeline - solidifying her multi-talented craft. "I wanted to capture the world of the song in a Lynchian-inspired dreamscape - starry-eyed and a little unhinged - but like, David Lynch meets Gucci," she says. [via Pilerats]

International superstar P!nk has more than two decades of experience topping the global pop charts, and she is here to continue her reign with the new single 'All I Know So Far'. 'All I Know So Far' was produced by pop mastermind Greg Kurstin and co-written with the songwriting duo Benj Pasek & Justin Paul. The single comes off of her upcoming album All I Know So Far: Setlist, due out on RCA Records on May 21. The accompanying video for 'All I Know So Far' tells Pink’s life story with help from Cher, Judith Light, and Carey Hart. The visuals, directed by longtime collaborator Dave Meyers, also features an appearance from her daughter Willow. The new album will feature live recordings from her 2019 'Beautiful Trauma World Tour' along with a recording of her highly-buzzed MTV Video Vanguard Award acceptance speech. P!nk’s daughter Willow will also make an appearance on the album with the song 'Cover Me in Sunshine', which the singer previously shared back in February. [via Consequence]

Movie Review: Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again
Disclaimer: I am posting this review a few days after the movie first aired in the U.K. and while this isn’t a movie warranting a spoiler review I will be talking about the movie in general. So if you do not want to ruin seeing the movie beforehand don’t read on.
General Reaction:
Wow, ten years later and ABBA combined with these actors still make for a great movie. While this movie isn’t as good as the first movie, I was not really expecting it to be, the first movie was somewhat of a special movie and to try and monopolize on that was a risk but fortunately this movie did not diminish what occurred in the first.
Now I said it wasn’t as good as the first and my above comment is very much the case but the reasons for that are in talent both in front of and behind the camera either not returning or not committing. For instance Phyllida Lloyd directed the first movie but didn’t return for the sequel, I feel that is because her two hit movies starred Meryl Streep and she herself did not return to the centre stage here. Both presences I felt were missed not only because the energy seemed slightly somber in this movie due to the apparent death of Donna Sheridan but also in both the choreography and delivery of the big dance numbers.
Also moving filming locations from actual Greece to Croatia was 1) Noticeable for someone who watches Game of Thrones and 2) Unnecessary unless something was wrong from a production standpoint with using the same location from the last movie.
I’ll get to songs further down after talking about the cast but like every musical movie for me there were hits, growers and something this movie had that the first one didn’t which is a cringe-worthy number. Also there was a slightly riskay opening number with “When I Kissed the Teacher” which yes was performed by the younger Donna in the late ‘70s so I guess was okay for the time but in today’s culture may have been something someone behind the scenes should have double-checked.
Cast:
The original cast made the present day scenes in the movie feel like a reunion which was very nice to see. As an ensemble I do love this cast; Julie Walters and Christine Baranski had more to do in this movie given that Meryl Streep was not present and so they were the maternal figures to Sophie who by the way looked so much like Donna at certain points in this movie it was uncanny.
The dads did not sing really at all apart from the end number and even then you could not hear them so I appreciated that, their dad dancing was in full swing, I really liked their relationship being three potential fathers to the same girl yet still being so close.
Dominic Cooper surprisingly did not do much in this movie despite the end of the last movie making it seem like Sky and Sophie were going to set sail, instead where we find both of them at the start of the movie is surprising and again I think a bi-product of Meryl Streep not starring. However the first Mamma Mia movie was really the first time I had seen Dominic Cooper in anything and since then I’ve seen his range as an actor in both the MCU and Preacher so to see him back where I first saw him was fun to see how far he has come.
Lily James as young Donna was about as close a match for me as Alden Ehrenreich as a young Han Solo because both sets of actors and actresses do not share that instant striking resemblance, again I saw more similarities between Amanda Seyfried and Meryl Streep than I did Lily James and the former is playing her daughter. However this is probably my favourite role of hers as she played the ‘70s free flower-child type of role very well.
The three young versions of the dads were more evenly matched, particularly Josh Dylan who portrayed young Bill. However I do think the movie missed a trick in not casting one of Stellan Skarsgård’s sons like Valter who I think is age appropriate for the role more-so than young Harry because Hugh Skinner is 33. I do like how all three captured the mannerisms of their older selves particularly with how they all speak and their character traits picked up on in the first movie.
Then of course Cher and Andy Garcia, I am talking about them together because they gave me my favourite part of the movie with “Fernando”. Again I am not doing spoilers in this review but there is somewhat of a twist and nudge to this number that I clocked onto when we first meet Senior Cienfuegos. All I will say is this movie is very much about familial relationships and leave it at that.
Songs:
This is why I love reviewing musicals because I can talk about the songs in depth. As I said before, Iwill be talking about my favourites, growers and problems.
My favourite number is definitely Fernando, I love Cher and have never hid this fact but also Andy Garcia, who I don;t really know as an actor but know he is in the original Oceans trilogy which I do want to watch, was the perfect duet partner for Cher in that number. Cher lights up any scene when she sings but there was definitely something almost magical about that number.
Then there’s “Super Trouper” which was already big in the first movie but as the ending number of the number and led by Cher but then involving the entire main cast it was definitely an event level number.
Other numbers I knew of ABBA’s and liked in this movie were “One of Us”, “The Name of the Game” and “Knowing Me, Knowing You”. All of which had a good scene playing over the number which developed the story and were sung very well by Seyfried, Cooper, James and Irvine.
I also surprisingly liked songs I hadn’t heard ABBA sing before, my taste of ABBA stems from what I grew up with my mum listening to which were basically the first movie soundtrack and the above mentioned songs. However “"Why Did It Have to Be Me?” “Andante, Andante” and “Angel Eyes” were what I consider to be growers for me after this movie. I did miss not having Baranski sing “Does Your Mother Know” or Walters singing “Take a Chance on Me” but “Angel Eyes” was a good compromise.
The only two numbers I could not get into were “I’ve Been Waiting For You” and “My Love, My Life”, the latter is the number that everyone is gushing about and yes I know for a fact if my mum and nan saw the movie they would also gush and the former is a tribute from Sophie to Donna but I like the uptempo numbers more.
Then there are the numbers that return in this movie that I cannot make my mind up on, the epitome of this is “Waterloo” performed by Hugh Skinner and Lily James for the pure and simple reason that during the number when Donna sings the line “Couldn’t escape if I wanted to” I genuinely believed her because Harry just seemed to turn slightly insane with this number. “Dancing Queen” and “Mamma Mia” also return because they’re classic ABBA but they didn’t do much for me aside from make me feel good to hear and see those songs performed again.
Overall I rate the movie an 8.5/10, the first movie for me is a 9 but there was just something about this movie that slightly knocked the score down for me but I cannot quite say what it is because I don’t actually know. It’s still a charming movie with a wonderful cast and great music and has that rewatchability factor to it but while I went for repeat screenings of the first movie 6-7 times which is a record only recently beaten by The Greatest Showman, I do not see myself going numerous times to see this movie...maybe once or twice more.
So that’s my review of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, what did you guys think? Post your comments and check out more Movie Reviews as well as other posts.

Sansa=Cher and Jon=Josh
When I think of Sansa and Jon, I think of another couple who grew up as siblings, bickered a lot, and ended up falling in love. CHER and JOSH! You might think this is ridiculous but there are actually some pretty awesome parallels.
Josh is the nerd/poet, outsider who was raised by Cher’s dad. Josh loves Cher’s father and wants to be a lawyer like him.
Jon is the warrior/bastard(actually nephew), who was also an outsider and was raised by Sansa’s dad Ned Stark. Jon loves Ned and Ned raised him as his son. Jon is like Ned in every way, shape and form.
Cher is the rich, highly feminine/girly girl who starts off clueless, has a heart of gold and is often misunderstood.
Sansa is the highborn, feminine/girly girl who starts off clueless as well, has a good heart but is also often misunderstood.
Both Josh and Jon “claim” that they wouldn’t want a women like Cher and Sansa. Beautiful, feminine, and in their minds completely out of their league. But in actuality, that’s exactly the type of women they want!
Both Cher and Sansa never even thought of the possibility of Josh and Jon. They both wrote them off at first.
Both Josh and Jon (for Jon I’m not sure it’s romantic feelings but more so deep unexplainable feelings) caught feelings first.
Cher realized her feelings later on when another woman came into the picture. I’m pretty sure Sansa will realize her feelings when Dany comes into the picture.
Being an overprotective brother was used by Josh (consciously) and Jon(subconsciously) to cover up their true feelings.
Bickering was used for both Josh and Cher and Jon and Sansa to cover up the true tension between both couples. (Mind you, Josh and Cher’s bickering looked like a normal brother and sister relationship unlike Jon and Sansa’s)
I compare these two to show that:
1. They can’t be together because they grew up as siblings is a played out excuse.
2. Jonsa is possible because this trope has been done before.
If ex step-siblings can fall in love in modern times, cousins in Pre-Medieval Times can as well!

Changes of Romantic Perceptions
As the title suggests, this blog post in on the changes surrounding perceptions of romance, my romance. Well not so much changes in my romantic life but more so changes of my notion of romance. It occurred to me today that what I wanted a few years ago was so different than what I want now. What I wanted when I was 7 is different than what I want now.
We all grow up with different notions of romance. Different notions of how it is supposed to be. Different notions of how we are supposed to be. We learn from our surrounding environments and tend to mirror whatever it is we hear or see. My environment was...Bollywood movies. At the young age of 7 I started watching Bollywood movies and my idea of romance had formed. I was never that child that wanted a “prince charming”, at least not the conventional one. I didn’t watch Snow White and hope for a prince to come rescue me. I never thought twice about Prince Eric from the Little Mermaid. For me, what really started my ideas of romance and what it should be, were Bollywood movies.
The first Bollywood movie I ever watched was Kuch Kuch Hota Hai; a story about friendship, unrequited love and of course the conventional happily ever after. This is the movie that started it all. When I was 7 I really resonated with the character of Anjali because not only did I look exactly like her (short hair pulled back with a hairband, not so great eyebrows and dressed like a tom boy), but I also thought we had similar personalities. As I grew older the parallels between the character and I only grew. I liked a best friend, the best friend liked my best friend. Classic. But what I got out of this movie was that I wanted a best friend in a relationship. I wanted what Anjali and Rahul had before all the mess with Tina. I wanted to be best friends with whomever I fell in love with, because yes being in love is a wonderful feeling but being in love with your best friend is a level of comfort and a naturalness that is indescribable. However, from this movie I also learned that I needed to be more girly to get the guy. I had to wear more makeup, grow out my hair and change up my entire wardrobe. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai taught me to wait for the right one. Anjali never gave up and I knew I couldn’t either.
Moving on to the age of 13 when I saw this gem of a movie. Pride and Prejudice is a renowned novel made famous for many reasons, Mr. Darcy probably being the main one. I loved the initial fighting between the characters of Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. The sheer disdain for one another and the immense amount of tension made me crave for what they had. I thought that I needed to find someone I disliked only to fall in love with them because that’s what happened and look how it all turned out! What I really fell in love with was Mr. Darcy’s eloquence. The way that he said what was on his mind and how he spoke his feelings without holding anything back. The scene above is when he tells Elizabeth how much he loves her and while it doesn’t quite work out at first, I love this scene because he tells her exactly how much he loves her. It’s something that doesn’t happen often. We always assume that our loved ones love us back but sometimes it is nice to hear just how much. Mr. Darcy also did everything in his power to make Elizabeth Bennet happy without telling her. His acts were selfless. At the age of 13 I held out for my Mr. Darcy. The man who would tell me how much he loved me and make me happy without asking for anything in return. I was 13...you can guess how lucky I was.
Moving on to a little older me, maybe 15. I watched Clueless at a pretty young age but upon watching it in high school, I became immediately hooked. I had gone from watching this movie almost once, to watching it at least 8-9 times before the end of high school. This is the stage of my life where I discovered I wanted the “average joe”. The guy who is sweet and soft-spoken and usually goes unnoticed. In this movie Josh is a huge sweetheart. He looks out for Cher and he is always just, there. He’s there through her bad relationships, he’s there when she finds herself stranded in the middle of nowhere and he is there when she doesn’t even want him to be. Josh was down-to-earth and I never realized how important that was to me until I watched this movie. He was interested in real world issues and not merely thinking about his wardrobe or if he looked perfect. To him, there were more important things. What I learned from Cher was similar to what I learned when I was 7; I needed to be more girly. But I also needed to start finding something I cared about. Cher found her passion and let go of all the trivial things and her life worked out for her. So at 15 I started to look for things that really interested me in hopes that one day things would fall into place.
Jim and Pam from the Office. This was the goal of 19 year old me. I think many people can agree that Jim and Pam are extreme couple goals. This went back to me wanting to be best friends with the person I fell in love with. Jim and Pam were nothing without each other. When one was gone, things just weren’t the same and I wanted to be with someone who I knew I was going to feel their absence. I wanted to miss someone and I hoped they would miss me too if we weren’t together. I love Jim because he is the kind of guy that would buy you flowers just because. Or take you out because he thought you deserved it. No reason. Jim was the kind of guy that would tell Pam when he was having a good day and when his day was going terribly wrong and Pam would be there for him regardless. I wanted to be that person. Most importantly, Jim laughed at Pam’s stupid jokes but she wasn’t funny at all. Anyone who has watched even an episode of the show knows that. But to Jim, she was the funniest person he knew. They didn’t need much but each other and that’s all a 19 year-old me could ask for.
This is where I am now. 23 years old and I have quite possibly taken a step backwards. I’m kidding. I know Enchanted is a movie meant for children but I see it as a lot more than that. I watched this movie back when I was 14 and took it for what it was. A fairytale. I then watched this movie again when I was 22 and it was like watching the movie for the first time. I watched this movie and realized a few things. One, I wanted to rely on myself more to find what I wanted in romance and a relationship rather than waiting for it. Two, I wanted a little bit of magic in my romantic life. And three, I wanted someone who would dance with me. Giselle, while naive at times is strong and hopeful. She is happy with what is out there and doesn’t dwell on the past too much because she looks forward to the future. Robert tries. I think at the end of the day that’s all we can ask for. Someone who tries and who will keep trying. No he isn’t perfect but people rarely are. Robert is chivalrous and takes care of Giselle in a way that makes her feel more empowered than saved.
In the span of 16 years there were quite a few things that changed in terms of my perceptions of what romance should be and what I was looking for in a partner. Reflecting on all of this above, I realize that I don’t need to look the part. I don’t need to be an Anjali or a Cher or a Giselle. I think being me is enough. And I do not want to dislike the person when I first meet them. While interesting and great for those who like the chase, that is not who I am. I would rather skip all of that and get straight to the getting to know each other part. But other than that, I don’t think anything has changed and if anything I want all of the above. I didn’t realize it until putting this post together that, I already do.

When I look at you...
Billy climbed down from the wagon, package under one arm. ‘See you Thursday,’ he called, ‘and tell Josh he won’t be pulling the same stunt as last week. We’re onto him.’
Vasquez slapped the reins and laughed. ‘He’s already thought up a new one. Prepare to be cleaned out one more time!’
Billy raised his hand in thanks for the lift and set off down the path to where the low house lay in the shelter of the cottonwoods. It wasn’t as though he needed a wagon ride from town – he was still perfectly capable of walking, but as the years had crept up, a little assistance at the end of the day was shamefully welcome.
Instead of going in the front door he walked around the side of the house, past the newly-dug bed where Sam’s boys were competing to raise the tallest sunflower, and round to the back porch where he knew Goody would be at this time of day. He found him just as expected, gazing out across the plain to the distant hills, spectacles laid on top of his papers and coffeecup on the table next to him.
Goodnight turned at his approaching step. ‘Successful trip?’ he asked, with the same dazzling smile that made Billy’s heart turn over, no matter how many times he saw it.
‘Yes,’ said Billy, ‘saw to the livery business, and called on Trent about the mine. Got us some good Tennessee whisky as well.’
‘I’ll fetch some glasses,’ said Goodnight, making to rise, but Billy held out the paper-wrapped package and said more hesitantly, ‘And I bought you a present.’
‘Any occasion?’ asked Goodnight, concern crossing his features. ‘Not something I should have remembered?’
‘No,’ said Billy cautiously, ‘just something I thought you needed.’
As Goodnight started to open it he said hastily, ‘I’ll go get the glasses,’ and ducked inside, suddenly uncertain of his own judgement.
When he returned, glasses in hand, Goodnight was shaking out a fine new wool vest, a look of puzzlement on his face. ‘A new vest?’ Thank you, cher, it’s most suitable, but there really wasn’t any need.’
Billy took a deep breath. He’d tried to prepare for Goody’s reaction, but clearly this was going to be tricky. ‘I know you favour navy, so I bought it the same; you can change your lapel pins over…’
Goodnight looked even more perplexed. ‘Well, yes, but perhaps I should keep it for Sundays until this one’s seen a bit more wear …’
Billy swallowed. There was going to be no easy way here. ‘It’s a size larger.’
Goodnight blinked, and they both looked down at the vest he was wearing, creased horizontally where straining buttonholes showed the pale shirt beneath. ‘Are you saying – ’
‘It’ll be more comfortable. And more expanse to show off your watchchain,’ said Billy firmly.
‘- I’m fat?’ finished Goodnight, fixing him with a deadly glare.
‘I’m saying your vest is too small,’ said Billy, staring him down. Goodnight broke first, lips twitching, and they dissolved into laughter together.
‘I am fat,’ announced Goodnight solemnly. ‘I’m fat, and what hair I still have is white, and I sigh whenever I sit down. Why you stay with me I don’t know.’
Billy settled into the chair next to him and gazed at him affectionately. ‘Have you looked at me lately? Billy Rocks, terrifying knifeman, is now Billy Rocks, elderly Asian gentleman. I have brown spots on the back of my hands, and my shoulder gives me trouble when it rains.’
Goodnight reached for the bottle and poured two glasses, saying contemplatively, ‘Perhaps I should shave off my beard to make myself look younger.’
‘Rule still applies,’ warned Billy instantly, ‘shave off your beard and I cut my hair.’
‘You’ve been threatening me with that for twenty-five years,’ said Goodnight, reaching across to run a stray strand through his fingers. ‘I don’t believe you would.’
‘Try it and find out,’ said Billy, leaning over for a soft kiss and the reassuring scratch of a grey beard.
‘Thank you, Billy,’ said Goodnight. ‘I appreciate it. For saving me from ridicule.’
‘No one would dare ridicule you,’ said Billy, ‘and we’re all trying to age as gracefully as we can. Even Sam’s pretty grizzled these days. Though Vasquez does seem to be the exception – some kind of Mexican witchcraft, it must be. He gave me a lift back from town and I swear he was looking at me like I was his grandfather.’
Goodnight laughed. ‘Really, Billy.’ They sat back, drinks in hand, in the evening sun and Goodnight’s eyes grew soft as he gazed at him. ‘Looking at you is my favourite occupation, and when I do, I don’t see an elderly Asian gentleman. I see the wild prizefighter I first met in Texas, so handsome I thought I might die there and then; I see the suspicious stranger who rode out with me for that first year. I see my love Billy when we finally found each other. I see the hero fighting Bogue’s men in the smoke and flames, and I see the pale-faced ghost with the bleeding gut wound who got up from his sickbed to find me in mine, and that is still the single most welcome sight of my entire life. I see you the day we finished this house, taking my hand to walk into our home; I see you sitting down at the creek fishing with Sam’s boys when they were small; and I see you as you were this morning, putting on your hat to go out. When I look at you I see our whole life together.’
Billy felt his throat close at the naked devotion in Goodnight’s face and the flood of memories conjured by his words. Speaking his love had never come easily to him, but as he looked at the man beside him he saw exactly what he meant, and his answer flowed from his lips without effort.
‘And I see our life in you. I see you skinny and jittery when we first met, sitting on your fancy horse, talking, talking, talking like I’d never heard a man talk before; I see the look on your face when you watched me and didn’t think I knew; I see you angry, standing up for me in a hundred boarding-houses and saloons. I see you shooting like a demon from the belltower; I see you in shirt-sleeves all sweated, working beside me to build this place; and I see the proper gentleman holding forth on politics in town meeting.’ He brings a hand to touch Goodnight’s cheek. ‘Same blue eyes, though. Never could resist those.’
‘We’ve been so lucky,’ said Goodnight, voice cracking slightly. ‘All these years. Some near misses, for you and for me. I’m grateful for every second of it.’
Billy took his hand. ‘I could never have guessed that my life would be this way,’ his gesture taking in the house, the town, the plain glowing in the setting sun and the two of them together on the porch, ‘and sometimes I still can’t believe that I get to have it with you.’
‘I love you, Billy,’ said Goodnight softly, ‘did I ever tell you that?’
Billy stood up, took his other hand and tugged him to his feet, ‘I love you too, old man, and a hundred years with you would never be enough.’ He wrapped his arms around him, feeling not just flesh and bone, but the weight of years and memory in his embrace, and he rested his chin on his shoulder to murmur, ‘Let’s hope we still have a few more years to come. And you can get as fat as you like, you know, as long as you keep the beard.’

At the beginning of the present, Topanga and her eventual husband Corey Matthews had been at odds since they had been solely pre-teens on the time when she sported massive frizzy hair together with her mental angle. Fishel has been on and off of tv ever since Boy Meets World went off the air, however she made each ‘90s child’s goals come true when she and co-star Ben Savage reprised their roles as Topanga and Corey when Disney Channel rebooted the present with the spin-off Woman Meets World.

Ever since then, Stewart has been criticized for her awkward and sometimes-stunted performances, a persona that could be very reflective of how she is when the cameras aren’t rolling. However don’t be mistaken, Stewart truly has some performing chops and makes use of her awkwardness to her benefit. Catch her and her grown-up look in Clouds of Sils Maria, Café Society, and Equals.
