His (Metal) Rose

A rewrite of an old headcanon! And like- my first x reader for LU in literal months if not a year-- HELLO! I AM BACK! :DDD

Summary: Four struggles with conveying his feelings verbally, so why not put his smithing skills to use?

Character: Four x Gn! Reader Warnings: No beta we die like Twi, some overthinking on Fours part? Words: 900+

Four hasn’t been the best with words in his life, stumbling through conversations and often struggling to convey his thoughts through words, which always lead to some tough conversations when it comes to personal relationships. Often his thoughts and feelings were questioned, some going as far as accusing him of actively hiding his emotions- which wasn’t true at all! Four felt a lot, he felt so much that it was so hard to single out one thought to begin verbalizing it, and it wasn’t like this was the Colours fault either– he's been like this ever since he could remember.

Four couldn’t count how many friendships -and potential courtships- he pushed away thanks to his lack of verbalization, so when he started to grow a connection with you, he was down right terrified. He was so scared of losing another person due to his own failings that he knew he had to do something. The hero could try to verbalize his thoughts, to sit you down and have a long and deep conversation but the thought of it made his skin crawl- he knows he would have to do it at some point but…he rather not now, especially when he's trying to not embarrass himself! But the longer he thought, the more he started to realize that if he can’t tell you how he felt…then maybe he could show you!

Yes, yes that is what he would do. He’ll make you something, something so full of every ounce of what he felt that he was sure you’d understand with just a simple glance!

Knowing he couldn’t act on this urge right away as the Chain was far from any nearby town, he decided on brainstorming. Taking parchment from Warriors journals and snatching the pencil that dangled from Legend’s utility belt -the hoarder cursed at him, something about mapping but Four didn’t really care in the moment- before putting his brain to work.

It didnt take him long to decide on a flower- A rose. He’s seen it time and time again, gifted petals and trimmed thorns, handed to a beloved in a show of care and understanding. Four scribbled dozens of different designs, each as elegant as the last but none of that mattered, not if he couldn’t bloom the fire forged flower with love melted into every burning vein. What was the use of a pretty rose if his love didnt keep the metal warm even on the coldest nights? If you couldnt feel the smooth petals and think of his thrumming heart for you then what was this all for? The smith spent quite a while planning the creation of the masterpiece which would be his rose- your rose- before he even THOUGHT about stepping into a forge. But, one day, with the final stroke of the graphite, the colour hero found himself satisfied.

And thankfully, it didnt take the Chain too long to finally arrive at the blessed town! Not even Time could have stopped him from running off as soon as they had booked into an inn, his energy and motivation higher than the clouds Hyila stood on. Now, to actually get access to a forge and materials…was a little harder than planned but Four wasn’t one to one for an answer when it came to fulfilling a task such as this!

It took him longer than he’d like to admit to get the hang of the new skill- and too many failed attempts that got smelt back down. Yet here he stood, rough leather gloves cradling an intricate metal rose, the petals curled like rolling waves on a calm tide with rippling edges. The rolling stem curled like a cat's tail, flowing as if blowing in the wind. Truely, a beautiful and brilliant piece yet something was still…missing. Sure, he poured every ounce of care into the vessel of his feelings and sure, he treated it as gently as he would you yet…a part of him -or many parts of him- felt like something wasn't there, wasn't representing the whole of him.

Twirling the rose in his hand gloves fingers, a pout heavy on his lips, as his eyes scanned the borrowed space, searching for something, anything to fill the missing piece.

Paint? No, it wouldn't adhere to the smooth metal. Patination? It would work, but he doubted this forge even had the equipment for such a thing. Frustration built behind the smith’s eyes. He was so close to finishing this yet he stayed slumped over this creaking workbench with a deepening pout.

Half tempted to ignore the scratching at the back of his mind that demanded perfection, Four sits up with a stretch only to stop mid way as a colourful hue glimmers under the workbench. Leaning back, the man almost jumps in joy as his eyes catch what seemed to be cut gems -likely artificial- shining up at him. It didnt take him long to find four coloured gems; red, green, blue and purple. Smiling ear to ear, the smith jumps up from his spot, grabbing all his materials and heading back to the anvil. It was time to put those jewelry classes gramps forced him through to use and to scratch that itch at the back of his head.

Finally, with sweat dripping down his brow, finally it was done.

Four admired the freshly polished, shining rose with a look of fondness. Pride swelled in his chest alongside the unimaginable adoration for you. A small thing it was, unable to even begin to tell of his love for you but even if it took thousands of bouquets to show you just that, Four was more than willing to be your smith.

I remember this anecdote about a gymnast telling someone expressing envy that what she actually wanted was all the skill without any of the effort, and now I’m thinking of Wars going off about how even without Cia being Cia, his figure skating regime was kinda hellish (he has no regrets but still).

War has been through SO much shit to get to where he is now, in both skating and dance. like yeah Cia did quite a number on his mental health but the whole environment he was raised in was hell for his mental AND physical health and even now at 21 he STILL hasn’t recovered from it

he’s been in ballet since he could walk so his whole entire life has either been dance or skating and he doesn’t know anything about else, and he’s had some bad instructors that pushed him into a HORRIBLE mindset. before college he’d been pushing his body to its breaking point (and in some cases past that) and getting PRAISE for it for years. it didn’t matter if it hurt or he was dizzy or not feeling great, he was raised in an environment where his ability to perform gave him worth and he got trained into this mindset of “if im not the best, im nothing at all” and the pressure from his mother and instructors only fueled it. his entire self worth became built on what he was physically capable of and what he could force his body to do. he went through a period of time where he could not physically eat enough food to properly fuel his body and he was very much underweight and VERY unhappy about it, and his overall physical health was bad but he got praised for that because him being so thin made his lines “look good”. and he had a lot of complicated thoughts about that because he had all these people telling him he’s beautiful and looks great and he was actively running himself into the ground at 13

and in addition to all this he had trouble at school which only reinforced this idea that all he has going for him is what he can do physically and that all his worth comes from his body. like forget Cia for a moment, he’s been believing chronic pain is worth perfection since he could form a coherent thought because it was trained into him and reinforced through praise and acknowledgment of his “improvement”

having natural talent only takes you so far, he spent so much time training under the pressure to be the best that he really didn’t have friends outside skating or dance until sky and twi because he simply didn’t have the time, and he really didn’t slow down until he got seriously injured at 18 and was forced to sit on his ass for a bit

he honestly cant even regret going through everything because he has no idea what life without dance and skating could even be like. he spent the entire time he was injured sulking and watching old performance videos and taking notes on how he could improve. it’s completely consumed his life. training was absolutely hell for him

thankfully he’s gotten better about taking breaks when he needs, getting enough sleep, and eating enough food, but he still kind of believes his skills are the only thing that give him worth as a person. if he’d been able to just have the skills without having to go through the years of working for it he’d be SUCH a different person :(

Age headcanons for the LU boys

So, for Gift Of Family I need to know all of the boys ages for when they're adopted and when the last of them is adopted. However, this meant that I had to figure out not only their age order but how close I could get the boys to their canonical ages as possible. So, I'm going to share with you my findings of not only how old I think each Link is in Jojo's comic but also how old I think they are in each of their games based on vibes, official nintendo art, Jojo's art, and Jojo's past QnA stuff. Let's begin.

Time

Time is both the easiest and trickiest. To avoid the trickiness, I decided to ignore his mental age and just focused on his physical age.

For Ocarina of Time, I've put Time as 9/16. First of all, we know he's a kid, maybe the youngest of all the Links, though I doubt it. But most of my reasoning for putting Time at 9 when he starts his adventure is simply because, ever since I was a kid, I thought it was a canonical fact that Time was 9 when he left Kokiri Forest. I don't know where I got this information, I can't find any proof of this being true, but nostalgia is very good at her job and I haven't seen anything from Jojo disproving this fact. So Time starts OoT at 9 and travels seven years in the future, making him also 16 at the same time.

Majora's mask was much easier. I hadn't made Time age up from 9 to 10 during OoT and, when MM opens, Time is actively trying to hunt Navi down. So i don't believe Time can be any younger than 10 when he runs into the Skull Kid. In fact, I believe he is ten during the entirety of MM, seeing as it only takes three days and Time doesn't really look any different then he did in OoT except maybe a little bit more maturity in promotional art. So, Time is no younger then 10 but no older then 12.

During LU I'd bargain that Time is exactly 30 years old. Jojo has stated that not only is Time the physically oldest of the Chain but she's also stated that it's been around 20 years since the end of his last adventure. I took the 20 year limit literally and decided that it'd been exactly 20 years since MM ended. And since I figure that Time was 10 at the time, Time is now 30 years old. I can see an argument for both 29 and 31 but there's not much of an argument outside of that.

Warriors

Canonically the comic's second oldest Link, Warriors is also one of the oldest heroes in his own game. Asuming that his only game inspiration is Hyrule Warriors, Definitive Edition not included, we can assume that Jojo's statement of Warriors being "about 6-7 years" out of his initial adventure is the only numbers we need.

We'll be basing Sky and Twi off of Warriors age scoring too but Warriors age actually came down to US military ages. While you can join the military at 16 (as far as I understand it) most people in training are 18 or older. While Hyrule is a fictional nation, we can assume that their age of maturity is either 17 or 18, seeing as BotW is very dependent on the Calamity arriving on Zelda's 17th birthday because she can only go to the Spring of Wisdom at the age of 17.

So with the numbers 17 and 18 to work with, my new moto was established. "When in doubt, go for the higher number." With this moto in mind, I decided that, as a recruit/trainee/whatever Warriors is at the beginning of his game, he's probably 18. And, with the idea that HW took around a year to finish, if not longer, then Warriors would end his adventure at 19.

So with Warriors at 19 by the end of his adventure, we can take Jojo's higher break number (BN for short), Warriors would have had 7 years between HW and LU. So one simple math problem later, I've figured out that the most likely age for Warriors to be is 26. I would have personally liked him to be a year older so he can be even closer to Time's age but he's more likely to be 25 than he is 27, so 26 it is.

Twilight

The third oldest, this is the first big age gap of the Chain (not taking Time into account because there was always going to be a large gap for him). Now, despite how old he seems in TP, I don't actually think he reaches the age of maturity, which, for the context of the Chain in particular, we will not be counting as anything younger than 19 because of Jojo's words early on in LU's existence.

I don't believe it's Nintendo canon but when I was younger I'd heard somewhere that Twi's age was 16 and, later on, learned that he was more likely 17. So I decided that 17 was the number I would be going with. Twi's BN was 4-5 so I took the 5 and made 17 into 22. Therefore, Twilight is the easiest Link to figure out and sits as a young adult which, yes, contradicts some of Jojo's earlier statements but I've taken Jojo's latest QnA as gospel for most all of my headcanons and anything that contradicts that is free game to be thrown out the window. Besides, it's not all a contradiction for Twi because...

Sky

Sky was another big dictator for the Chain's ages as a whole for one big reason. Early on, Jojo had considered Sky and Twi to be of similar age but Twi was probably older because he acted more mature. So, for a long time, I just considered them being the same age but, after doing the math, I have come to realize that Jojo has a little more grounds in saying that Twi is not part of the young adult gang. Not a lot more ground, but still more.

My first clue to this was that Twi's BN was 4-5 while Sky's was 1-2. This seemed like a large problem but then I remembered that Sky is one of the oldest canonical Links, if not the oldest in canon games (not counting Wild in TotK, who is an actual adult).

My next clue for Sky's age was the Knight's Academy. Though I could have gone with military age like I did with Warriors, as Sky is a newly minted knight, I decided to go by the educational system. In the US, high school ends at 12th grade, which makes most every student 18/19 when they graduate. For the Knights Academy I compared it to your average boarding school with high school grades. So that would make Sky, at youngest, 18 at the start of his adventure. And, to stay with my moto, I decided he could age to be 19 during his adventure.

With Sky now at 19, we can now add two years to make 21. Not as old as I would like Sky to be, as I love thinking about Sky and Twi being twins, but it's a lot closer then I could have hoped for in any form of canon.

Wild

The Chain's perpetual middle child, he is both, very technically, the youngest and the oldest of the heroes depending on how you look at it and how you count his age. However, since we're going for physical age, it's actually easy to figure out Wild's age.

Though there's an argument for everything from Wild being 16 during BotW all the way to being around 20, I believe he's actually 18 when he wakes up in the shrine. This is for three reasons.

The first is that Wild can't get a noble pursuit, so at the very least he is not past the age of maturity.

The second reason is that he is allowed to go to the Spring of Wisdom with Zelda. While he doesn't go into the spring himself, I doubt he would have been allowed near it if he wasn't at least 17. We've seen that Zelda had other people to travel with when Link was unavailable, as seen whenever she's in Gerudo Town without enemies pursuing her. It's clear no one was expecting the Calamity to start on Zelda's birthday, so there wouldn't be an immediate need for Link to break tradition just to protect Zelda.

The third reason is that adults flirt with Link after he wakes up. This may seem strange to point out because flirty characters are in many Zelda game but in BotW it's almost like there are no weird connotations, it's just adults interacting with each other. Still suggestive but it's silly and relaxed in most cases instead of a gross joke or something to appeal to teen boys. This implies that Link is at least recognized as an adult. And since, in BotW, the age of maturity is 17 at the youngest, I went a year higher and decided Wild was probably 18, maybe being 19 by the end of his adventure.

With the added fact that LU starts a handful of months after BotW, Wild can be no younger than 19 in LU. However, as the moto goes, older is always better and, because I think BotW takes nearly two years for Wild to finish, I decided that Wild was more likely to be 20 by the beginning of LU.

Legend

The last of the young adult squad, this guy was a challenge to pin down. He's done so much and it's so tricky to just choose time periods for him, it was nearly impossible to decide where to start or end. However, to make things simpler, I decided that each adventure takes a year to complete and the next adventure will only start around a year later. the exception to this is me mixing OoS/OoA/LA together for one long year of crazy adventures.

First thing's first, let's start going backwards. Jojo says it's only been around a year since Legend's last adventure, which is where I took the 1 year BN rule from. So, with that in mind, I wanted to find a number that kept him as young as possible while still making him undeniably an adult in the LoZ canon. So, 19 was my ending number for his age in LU.

After that was ALBW. Subtracting one year, he would be 18 by the end of that. And because of all that goes on in the story and that fact Legend is still very close to Ravio, I decided they knew each other for at least a year during that adventure. That puts Legend at 17 when he first encounter's Yuga and Ravio.

Subtracting a year from that, we get LA and Legend is now at sweet 16. This was honestly a surprise because I thought for sure Legend would be too young at this point to feel genuine feelings of romantic love but when I did the math I got 16 and it finally made sense why Marin would have such a big impact on him. As a person who struggles to have an understanding of romance, 16 was when I started understanding why people got crushes in the first place. So this makes perfect sense to me and matches Jojo's Legend sketches from this time period, as well as Jojo's design of Marin.

Now subtracting a year, which I will explain in a moment, we have Legend at 15 for the Oracle games. This came as a relief to me because seeing Din and Nayru for the first time, I immediately thought they looked too old to be shipped with Link. However, this feels slightly less creepy, but only slightly. Now, I subtracted a year because I had lumped these games together, and combining that with the two ocean travel times, decided that the ocean trifecta games had probably passed his birthday before he ever got back to Hyrule. So Legend is 15 when he lands in one of the countries.

Subtracting a year, we're all the way to the beginning with Legend being 14 when he defeats Ganon for the first time. However, I wasn't satisfied with him starting at the age of 14. Despite Nintendo's official art having Legend look like a teen in ALttP promotional material, art for later games in his story have him looking vaguely, if not noticeably younger. So I decided to play it safe and hack off one more year from the poor guy, making him unlucky 13. I honestly thought he would be twelve but him landing on a notoriously unlucky number just felt right and, honestly, it felt like it was destiny. Legend probably hates the number 13 now.

Before you ask me where Triforce Heroes comes into this mess, please don't. Not only does that game have three Links, not just Legend, Jojo has confirmed that Legend is not one of the heroes from Triforce Heroes. So let that mess stay in it's own little corner of the universe. We can question it another day.

Hyrule

For Hyrule, I actually have a semi-canonical age to work with. I can't find the evidence anymore because I forgot where it was, but in AoL, Hyrule is 16 when he saves the sleeping Zelda. And with Jojo's confirmation that LU takes place around two years after his adventure ended, that makes Hyrule 18. Hyrule is the entire reason I have such a weird maturity line, because Jojo categorized him as a teen but he's more likely to be considered an adult in Hyrule by now. Whatever.

The tricky one is the original LoZ. In promotional art he looks significantly younger but there's no way to cross reference this with Jojo's work because all of her Hyrule art is from AoL and after, as far as I can tell. So I had to get creative.

The age I think of for most Links in the LoZ universe is 12. This is for a specific reason I won't get into (Wind) but essentially all of the Links look like kids and teenagers, especially the toon Links and the pixelated Links. So I debated putting him at twelve but, when comparing the official art to the 12 year olds in my life, I decided he looked slightly older and settled on him being 13.

Four

Our next age gap, Four is a tricky one. He acts super mature and confident for his age but he's also super small for his age. So literally any age could be argued for him. In fact, I've seen arguments for everything from 12 to 30. So I had to start from the canon.

Jojo has stated that it's been two years since Four finished his last adventure. From this point forward, because Four knows who Ganon is, we'll be assuming that FSA is one of his adventures. So, assuming Four took one year between adventures, Four starts adventuring at 14. This is the oldest Four could be when he started his first adventure, not considering the times it took to complete his adventures and considering that out maturity age line is 19, Four being categorized as a teen with Hyrule and Wind.

Moving on with the number 14, I decided to start adding the adventure times. MC canonically takes a day, so that was out of the equation already. I don't know the canonical time progression of the FS games so I decided that they would each take half a year because they're rather short games. This now leaves our highest number at 13.

Now, unlike Legend, a one year break between games doesn't make sense for Four. He's more relaxed then Legend, with his confidence coming from him working on himself rather than from experience like Legend. So Four probably had a little more free time. So I added another year for each of our two free break periods. This now brings our biggest number down to 11.

Still, I wasn't satisfied. Four didn't strike me as being 18 when reading LU and he didn't strike me at 11 when studying MC's promo art. He looked younger. Much younger than any other Link, even considering the toon style and naturally short figure. So this was when I decided he was around Time's age when he started. But, to make things funny, I decided Four was 8 during MC.

Now with a starting age and two year BN rule established, my job became simple. Four would be 10 at the start of FS and, for the fun of it, I said he could celebrate his birthday halfway through, making him 11 by the end. Then, for FSA, Four would be 13 at the beginning of his journey. That leaves him at 15 by the time of LU. Maybe if we push he could be 16 but I'm not going to because I've already fudged his age enough for the hell of it.

Wind

Absolutely easiest of the bunch, we already have all of his canon ages. In WW and PH he's 12 years old, Nintendo certified and everything, seeing as WW happens on his 12th birthday. By the time of LU, Wind is canonically 13, going on 14. He is the last and smallest age gap for the chain but that just makes him even younger in all of their eyes. No wonder the chain tries to baby him. He's nearly a decade younger than Twi and nearly two decades younger than Time. Geez kid, slow your role! You don't need to keep defying the laws of the universe to show the other heroes how cool you are!

And that's the list. Honestly, I have more ages I could share, specifically the two Links we haven't met yet that I think I already know the identities of, including which hidden Link is which of the remaining Links in the timeline. But I'm not gonna do that because those two have little to nothing confirmed about them and trying to give you anyone else's ages without any Jojo support at all would have me pulling my hair out within seconds of researching. Therefore, this is where I end it until more information is available. Though I can tell you that Legend and Ravio are basically twins in all but blood and Malon is likely to be a year or two younger than Time because of her in game models in OoT. That's all I've really got though.

It’s super cool you asked this, since I actually started a list of different groups within the chain, and who tends to hang out with who and why!

So, let’s start with the one you mentioned: Legend and Four! Four recognizes Legend’s bunny form, but doesn’t figure out that it’s Legend immediately (but it isn’t long after he sees the bunny when Legend isn’t around that he makes the connection). I elaborate more on that here (though that’s less current day and more how it was during Four’s adventure). Nowadays the two aren’t the closest, especially once Four realizes that those events haven’t happened yet for Legend. Probably for the best considering how many dumb and embarrassing things he would later see Four do…

One big group are the wanderers, which consist of Wild, Hyrule, Four, and Warriors. Wild keeps trying to exile Warriors from the wanderer group for keeping them more on track than they would without him, but it keeps getting vetoed by Four who appreciates that at least one of them will keep them from straying too far. Hyrule flip flops sides, usually depending on whether or not Wars let him investigate the neat thing he saw. It’s all in good fun, and even Warriors makes jokes about Wild’s continued failed attempts to “kick him out of the group”.

Speaking of Wild, he and Sky both love birds, and bond over that. When they’re in Wild’s era, Sky is all over Gustlift (Wild’s loftwing). The giant birds are SO cool, he loves them so much, and Gustlift is very affectionate with Sky (and the others too). When they’re in Sky’s era, Wild is eager to tend to his hens and coo over them just like he does. Everyone thinks they’re crazy for it (Wild is offended because there are plenty of other legitimate reasons to call him crazy, and adoring birds is not one of them).

Wind and Warriors are the new downfall duo. When Wind discovered this, he proceeded to claim that Warriors was his great grandson, which Warriors continues to insist isn’t true (not that Wars really knows much about his bio family/lineage). Despite grumbling about it every time Wind brings it up, Wars is really fond of him (and Proxi is too). Wind also gets the most lenience as far as Wars’ no touching rule goes (though he’s just as likely as anyone else to get hit if he surprises him with it).

Sky, Hyrule, and Time are very close. They knew each other before the others, though if you asked Sky, he’d say he thinks the other two are closer with each other than they are with him. Time is much more likely to show his mischievous side to Sky, who knew him as the kid who put fish in his bedroll every other night and killed monsters with a fishing rod. Hyrule also defaults to Sky or Time when he wants to talk or if he’s stressed out.

Hyrule and Legend are fae buddies. Neither of them are human or Hylian, and their adventures have either made that worse (Hyrule) or were the cause of it in the first place (Legend). That sort of inhumanity is something they can bond over, both in a serious way and a more joking way. Like scaring the hell out of random travelers at night. That’s always a fun activity. (Besides, Legend has come to realize that the Hyrule is the Great Fairy’s ghost that helped him during his journey, in much the same way the Hero’s Shade helped LU Twi).

Time and Twilight are close too, and suspect they may be related to one another (mostly due to an heirloom in Time’s family which is an item belonging to Twi). They’re both a part of the leadership squad, which helps their bond. Oftentimes you’ll see these two standing or sitting next to each other, though they don’t really do it cautiously. There’s a lot of trust between them, and they often spend time just doing their own thing while sitting next to one another. Time also keeps trying to convince Twi to be his drinking buddy when they stop in towns, but his success rate isn’t great.

Speaking of the leadership squad, they’re close too. That consists of Time, Twilight, Warriors, and Wind. They like to play card games in their downtime, though when they play there’s a 50% chance someone is cheating. It’s almost become a part of the games themselves, a competition to see who’s cheating, how they’re doing it, how well they’re hiding it, and if it’s a new technique nobody has used yet. Time is the best at sleight of hand, Wind is known for using his magical items to cheat, Wars is incredible at bluffing, and Twi’s the most likely to get away with it. (Midna and Proxi are not allowed to participate in or assist in the cheating and often go off to do their own thing together while the boys play cards)

Twilight and Warriors are also reading buddies. Twilight was the one who taught Wars how to read, and he picked it up very quickly. He’s broke as hell though, so Twi gets him a new journal and bottle of ink in almost every town they stop at.

Twilight and Wild bonded at first because Wolfie reminded Wild of his loftwing. Once Twi revealed he was Wolfie, Wild still saw a lot of similarities. Their attitudes are pretty similar, they both watch out for him in particular, and they feel like family. Wild, in turn, reminds Twilight of the rambunctious kids in his hometown, who are like brothers to him.

Time and Sky are both happily married (well, Sky is just engaged so far, but it’s close enough) and talk about their homes and their wife/fiancée often. Sky in particular is eager to get back; he really misses her and wishes he could get a break from all the chaos. Time misses his wife too, but he knows how to handle it and is more than happy to be an outlet for Sky to vent about it or talk about Sun.

Speaking of relationships, Four, Twilight, and Legend have the “my boy/girlfriend is a little odd” club. Four is dating Shadow, who quite literally lives in his shadow and was created in his image by the calamity. Weird origin story for a romantic relationship, and he knows it. Twilight has Midna, his tiny invisible minish girlfriend who loves to both help the group and cause everyone problems for fun. Legend, meanwhile, has a 10 ft long mermaid girlfriend (Marin) and is having a great time making fun of everyone else in the club after they made fun of him first.

Twilight and Legend both have animal forms and bond over that. After both their forms are revealed, Twi can occasionally be seen as a wolf with a little pink bunny on his back. Legend will absolutely deny this happens at any cost (Twilight won’t confirm anything but won’t deny it either).

Four and Wild often bond over food and neurodivergency. They’re the cooks of the group and often make dinner together, sharing recipes and ingredients and stories over the cooking pot. As for the neurodivergency, Wild has a lot of adhd and sees a lot of his own struggles in Four. Whether Four has it or not is up for debate, but the way his disharmony with the colors presents in a way that Wild finds really relatable. The cause may not be the same, but the symptoms are similar and they bond over that.

I’m sure there’s many other little connections that could be made, but those are the ones I could think of off the top of my head!

Plagued with thoughts of wars and twi. What if the guys land in a very progressive hyrule and another alpha in a bar/market/townsquare can immediately tell twiis genderfluid and starts to flirt with him HARD. Like he wants the cowboy booty

Would wars still be a constipated idiot about it? If someone so blatantly flirted with his omega a random packmate?

Wars would absolutely get bitchy and be all up in his own head about the whole thing. It must be nice, Twilight must just love the attention, assuming poor Twi did anything to actively attract it in the first place. He'd be avoidant and snappy and not at all tuned into the fact that Twilight is trying to just be polite and certainly not welcoming these advances, although his brand of country-boy sweetness is making their friendly stranger think he's awfully interested.

Wild would attempt to step in and break things up, but who knows how much the alpha would even pay attention to a little omega. Wild, feeling slighted, could become more forward and might be rude, but before a spat breaks out I have a feeling either Sky or Time are going to intervene, giving Twilight a quick out and giving their best GTFO vibes to chase off any unwanted suitors.

Later that night, Wars is sure to be surly, but when Wild calls for him to join the two of them in bed, he'll boil down pretty quick.

Another drabble time, this one is shorter and more of a reflection o your part of the bots. I do write these drabbles in like, a vacuum, pretending the other groups don't exist just so that way their interactions with each other don't get spoiled.

Band guys this time, Twi, Aura and Umbra

You hadn't been traveling on the road that long with the bots, but they had already shifted your view of synths as a whole, just slightly, in that short time. You had been so surprised by how human they were. It was unexpected to you from the synths you'd seen and met, until you were staying with them.

It was small at first, catching them practicing their music. Actually practicing, and making mistakes. You had thought that it was just something they could do and were programmed for, but you had learned quickly that they had taught themselves how to play their music, their instruments. That they actively wrote and changed the music. It was fascinating to you, the way Aurora cursed after messing up a riff and then slowing himself down to play it slow and work through it. When Twi would play too hard and accidentally drag a sour note from his guitar, or accidentally snap the steel strings that they then had to fix, going easy the next time. Seeing Umbra re-play sections until they were satisfied that it was perfect, pushing themself hard enough that they almost shut down because they forgot to charge, but just had one more bar to do.

That had just been the start, and that had made you look closer at them as a whole which is what had you finally see the mannerisms that weren't learned or programmed, but just simple were. Synths could have subconscious actions, who knew?

Aura talked with his hands a lot, motions large and in constant movement going faster the more excited he got. His whole body would follow suit of his hands, rays spinning like a fan as he bounced around the space, sometimes leaving the ground for seconds longer than normal from those shoes of his. You'd even seen him knock things off counters or smack one of the others with his movements, and each time he'd be surprised, like he hadn't even noticed he was gesturing so much.

Twilight was more subtle than the Sun, but you noticed the seemingly subconscious mannerisms in them too once you were looking. How their hat always emoted with them and never seemed to be still, how they'd move their fingertips in the rhythm of one of his riffs, or even how he would slightly sway or rock when having to stay in one spot for long periods. Twi often hummed, not even realizing he was until it was pointed out to them and you'd even caught them on a few occasions flapping his hands over an art project, his hat following suit.

Umbra wasn't subtle, but simply more subdued it seemed. Their actions were never big or grand, but they couldn't be covered as something else either. Their rays were in constant movement, the magic they ket the metal afloat above their faceplate beyond you but mesmerizing to watch as they spun and pulsated. They'd always carry their drumsticks tucked in their boots, and you'd later found out it was so they could spin them and do fancy tricks when thinking or needing to get out energy or stress. You'd even found them finger or foot tapping on occasion, usually when deep in thought.

It was cute all their mannerisms, and you realized early on it had endeared you to your newfound companions, and found yourself mimicking some of their actions yourself subconsciously.

It made you happy to see that they were more than you had initially thought, and it saddened you to think that others would never get to see that realness and have their perspectives changed like your own had been.

Maybe with time it would happen, and you hopped it would for their sakes. The world deserved to know synths were so much more and you hopped maybe you'd find a way to make that happen someday, to have others see them how you now did.

I knew when I started writing Linked Moments I wanted it adjacent to Linked Universe, but not in the same timeline. I like the characters, their designs, some of their personality traits, but I want to do something unique!

The first few stories are always rougher as I find a handle on their personalities and how I want them to interact. Wild’s easiest because a) favorite, b) I read a lot of fics with him and c) I started replaying botw in preparation for TotK.

There’s some active decision on personality, but I really enjoy “discovering” each character as I write. Four, for example, fights every step of the way and just doesn’t flow well. I’m still trying to find a vibe off him and how he fits into the group.

Wild, Twi, Ledge, and Hyrule are definite favorites so we get a lot more of them. Wolfie is Wild’s safe person and I adore their interactions. I wanted him to be someone Wild could relax with when he’s still learning to trust everyone else. Also, someone who would connect to his more feral behavior.

I like to think that Wild was pretty darn wild when he first woke up. Obviously some basics remain, but you can’t convince me that boy didn’t put everything in his mouth to see if he could eat it 🤣

With Yiga disguised on the road he tended to stick to the outskirts unless he came in to a stable. He spent a lot of time with the dogs there, as well as observing wolves in the wild. He really likes wolves, despite an…incident we’ll explore later 👀

Hyrule is my cinnamon roll and he can totally kick your butt while smiling sweetly. I like his dynamic with Legend, so I try to keep that, but I also like having him buddied up with Wild.

I usually pick one or two relationships for each oneshot to focus on because otherwise it’s a lot to balance. Also, I want to show the different moments of growth between the pairs.

Thinks like Fae Touched, Wing Bois, and other oneshots are opportunities for me to explore different dynamics or back histories. Wild and Wolfie/Twilight is more of a precedence in Linked Moments.

Legend is our grouchy boy, but he understands trauma responses a little too well. He periodically recognizes what’s going on with Wild and really steps up into a calm role to help. He tries to provide what he needed but didn’t have 😭 It’s those moments that he’s very similar to Hyrule.

Warriors uhhhhh had ended up with some personal influences, woops. My writing has always been fairly personal in some way; either the genre, themes, or feelings. Lots of family fluff (especially in Encanto, which I wrote for before this). Writing is usually more grounded if it’s based on personal experience, so it’s a mix of that or straight up research. Usually if I’m worried about reception I post it under an alt account.

Time is a struggle for me although I know many readers liked his chapter with the Champion. He and Wild don’t operate the same and it puts a bit of a wedge on their interactions.

Wind is a loose cannon careening through the background and bodily throwing himself at people. He’s a tactile kid (even if he is a teen). I like seeing him have some depth, he’s a capable hero on his own.

Sky is a lot more of a gremlin at heart than I thought when I started writing. We haven’t seen much of him yet and he likes to cover up the chaos love with his “chosen hero” vibes.

G E N E R A L  —

NAME.         his full birth name is august ahn-evergreene, his last names being a combination of his maternal and paternal last names because his mother wasn’t going to allow her children to not have her last name in some fashion. however, in his twenties he drops evergreene and only uses ahn as his last name due to a rift with his mother / wanting an identity separate from her ( he’s not fond of his father either but he has a habit of leaving town so it’s easier for august to distance himself from that part of his family’s ‘legacy’ ).

AGE.         he appears in his late 20s ( 27-30 ) but is around 60 years old due to the extended lifespan of a mage.

HEIGHT.          he stands at 6′1 ( 185.42 ). no, he’s not a sloucher and is the type to internally judge people who do because stand up straight wtf?

WEIGHT.          170 pounds ( 77.1kg ). he’s lean and not overly muscular; doesn’t do much heavy physical activity anymore due to his current ‘condition’.

ETHNICITY.         korean-filipino american mage. he comes from a bloodline of magic-users. if commenting on his natural magical prowess, expect a dry ‘of course, i was breed to be.’ in response.

OCCUPATION.           he is what the people of crescent creek call ‘the overseer’, the highest sitting member of the council of novema ( or just ‘the council’ for short ). they are the ones who ‘govern’ the town and its people, establishing laws and stepping in to resolve high-level matters between residents if it should come to it. with the council needing to hear matters from the magi, vampires, fae, werewolves, and other beings, august has a constant headache.

SEXUAL & ROMANTIC ORIENTATION.         he would state that he’s heterosexual but admittedly he’s never fully explored his sexuality enough for that to be a definite statement. he hasn’t seriously dated in a very long time™ and it isn’t interested in changing that.

MBTI.         INTJ-A,  The  Architect  —  it can be lonely at the top. as one of the rarest personality types – and one of the most capable – architects ( INTJs ) know this all too well. rational and quick-witted, architects may struggle to find people who can keep up with their nonstop analysis of everything around them. these personalities can be both the boldest of dreamers and the bitterest of pessimists. architects believe that, through willpower and intelligence, they can achieve even the most challenging of goals. but they may be cynical about human nature more generally, assuming that most people are lazy, unimaginative, or simply doomed to mediocrity.

FAVOURITE  FOOD.           he’s very particular about getting his three meals a day in if he can but he probably has the most fondest for food that was often served at dinner time with his family or when all his cousins spent time at his lola’s house when they visited her. dishes such as bopis, kimchi, pancit canton, tocino and rice, korean styled steak, etc. are personal favorites.

FAVOURITE  DRINK.           his day isn’t complete without having a nice, chilled glass of vintage red wine during dinner ( and maybe just drinking straight from the bottle by the end of the night ). he does enjoy drinking rosé during a nice breakfast or lunch depending on the bottle.

FAVOURITE  HOBBY.          brooding. joking aside, he does enjoy sparring matches, ‘magical’ based sparring matches. he does practice taekkyeon ( korean martial arts ) and enjoys mixing spells in by shocking opponents, blocking their spells with his own wards, etc.

FAVOURITE  SCENT.             the smell of freshly cut grass as well as the scent of pomegranates, vanilla, cinnamon, and musk. the former is bittersweet and nostalgic, reminding of his years as a teen: when he was young, oblivious, and only had to be concerned about being late to football / soccer practice. the latter reminds him of someone he would rather forget.

FAVOURITE  PERSON.        i. his twin brother, ansel ahn. his death still hurts and he’ll always partially blame himself for it - despite the fact that there would’ve been nothing he could’ve done to change it. ( this is the part where that wand.avision quote is inserted in ). the loss of his brother dramatically changes the course of his life. ii. his lola, nora evergreene. she grounds him a lot. one of the few times he’s at peace is when he visits her for brunch every third saturday of the month. iii. his ex, audrey cramer. he would never admit it out loud though - at least not anymore.

T E N   F A C T S  —

he’s well versed in magical creatures : one of the 'gifts’ of being the overseer is the ability to traverse pass the veil - a barrier / entry way that exist between ‘earth’ and the many dimensions that exist beyond it. this ability, however, is one that has fallen out of use over the past few decades. ever the abnormally, august makes use of this ability for his own personal agenda. outside of the different races that already live within crescent creek ( witches, vampires, werewolves, fairies, etc. ), there are those that prefer to live freely in their own worlds rather than live in secrecy on earth. so yes, he has met unicorns and he thinks most of them are actually assholes.

on the nature of the veil : the origin of the veil itself is a mystery. all that is known that about its existence is that many millennium ago, those from different dimensions ( or ‘worlds’ ) were able to freely pass through it without the need of assistance or a spell. as time progressed and humanity began to rise, passage through the veil became increasingly more restricted, leading to entry ways within the veil being sealed and only accessible through the leader in each world ( ex. the overseer in crescent creek ). although the town of crescent creek has always traded with other towns, cities, etc. pass the veil, many of those trades have slowed to a stop entirely as those dimensions have become inaccessible. to somewhat ease panic and concern, the council has framed the issue being due to other dimensions permanently closing themselves off from earth ( a situation that has previously happened some worlds ). in truth, the veil itself has become 'infected’ by a foreign spell that’s led to the blocking of entry ways that lead into other worlds. due to not knowing the source of the spell and its affect on the veil, the knowledge of its presence is unknown to most people in crescent creek. // note: this is more of an overall ‘lore’ fact that explains the backdrop of what’s going on in this ‘world’ to understand other facts about him. in the grand scheme of things, this wouldn’t come up when interacting with him.

he doesn’t believe in astrologists, psychics, fortune tellers, etc. : which may seem contradictory considering he’s a literal magical being but in his experience, it’s typically humans pushing pseudoscience or mages using their magic to con clueless humans. people in that line of ‘work’ are hacks to him - especially since he’s seen it first hand with his own father’s profession.

over the past twenty years, he’s been continuing his brother’s research : ansel, his older, twin brother, had been studying the distortions within the veil in secret before his death a decade prior. although the status of the veil was supposed to be concealed to those outside of the council’s reach, ansel confided in his brother before his death. in august’s eyes, whatever spell that’s taken over the veil is an active threat and with the backing of onyx crane, a vampire on the council, and his cousin, faye evergreene, he began an almost obsessive-like determination to complete his brother’s work and find answers - even if it’s to his own detriment. // *note: with a big soap opera trope being people returning from the dead, it shouldn’t be shocking to discover that ansel, is in fact, not actually dead. he used a storm that hit the town as a means to fake his own death ( disasters that kill off characters is usually a soap opera storyline that happens during ‘sweeps’ period ) and left town for his own agenda.

the youngest overseer to sit in the council : his status as the overseer is one steeped in controversy due to...a variety of reasons: an overseer typically is replaced by another council member by vote or an apprentice to the overseer should they have one after an overseer’s death, resignation, or if they’ve been forcefully discharged from the position. none of these things applied to august’s own mother, tala ahn-evergreene, when he usurped her - blackmailing the council by threatening to expose the truth about the current threat of the veil. // *note: in every ( american ) soap opera, it is a staple to have a ‘thing’, whether it be a business, a central institution in town ( ex. a hospital ), or a position ( CEO of a company, chief of staff at a hospital, etc. ) that many of the characters are tied to or even fighting for control over. ELQ, the quartermaine’s family business on general hospital, often have storylines where family members are fighting over shares of the company, who should run it, or the family teaming up to oust an outsider that’s taken over the company ( funnily enough, there is a story like the latter happening on the show right now ). the point here is that being the overseer or even sitting on the council of novema is that ‘thing’ that people fight over to be on for various reason. 

he takes his personal upkeep very seriously : there’s a lot of things one could say about crescent creek’s current overseer but no one can ever say they’ve seen august ahn not look put together when he’s out and about ( this is him going out publicly basically ). as someone who values consistency and control in his life but pretty much never has it, august actually highly treasures the time spent doing his morning / nightly skincare routines, getting his acupuncture treatments, and so on. he supports the self care movement essentially.

he ( as well as his siblings ) once witnessed one of his father’s affairs : it was an awful experience. -10/10. doesn’t recommend. this incident shapes his attitude towards relationships in general and how he operates within them. august has a very black and white attitude about relationships: you are either with him 100% or you’re not with him at all. it’s unhealthy and he has to unpack that. // *fun fact: this is actually a real event that happened with this family back in the sims 2 over ten years ago - they just all had different names, were a different race, and so on at that point.. they’ve changed a lot:tm:. 

may be an active suspect for murder : it happens. when marlena cramer, a former council member, suddenly passes on, the town is overtaken by a wave of a grief...that soon becomes shock and suspicion when her death is rules to be from unnatural causes. between being one of the last people to see her alive and reports of him wanting her off the council, august becomes one of the prime suspects for her murder case. // *note: whodunit’s are probably up there with ‘who’s the daddy’ storylines in terms of being the most common soap opera staple ( ex. who shot j.r. on dallas ).

voted most likely to be successful in his HS yearbook : august was the picture perfect prom king, the jock that was friends with everyone on campus, and the one everyone expected ride off into the sunset with his hs sweetheart. on paper, august was well rounded - some would say outright perfect. today, those who knew him in high school would shake their heads and ask themselves what happened to the boy who always smiled at them when he passed you by in the hallway or whose laughter could easily be heard the loudest in a classroom. august, as he is now, is a stranger to those that once knew him.

it’s happening gradually but he is, in fact, dying : many of the worlds that had become unaccessible were not only blocked off but were actively decaying - many of its residents fleeing to other worlds before they were forever trapped in a dying one while others locked their entry ways to stop the spell from spreading to their own homes. the overseers in crescent creek were restricted from traversing the veil themselves due to the unknown risk of the spell, a rule that august actively ignores. every time he travels through the veil, the more the spell slowly eats away at him - a fact that he is well aware of and he has no desire to stop. he will keep traveling worlds ( and helping those he can ) until he finds the source of the spell and kills its caster himself.

COMMON  WORDS / PHRASES  THAT  ANNOY  THEM.         during a misunderstanding or argument, the worst thing to tell him is that he ‘doesn’t understand’. even if the person is somewhat correct, august is a person that prides himself on being an objective observer of a situation, rational in his thinking, and not someone who lets his emotions dictate his choices. saying something like that to him would just further annoy him.

WHAT  DO  YOU  FIND  DIFFERENT / DISTINCT  ABOUT  YOUR  PORTRAYAL?

         the whole concept of this ‘world’ is based around soap opera cliches and tropes so the character is intentionally ‘tropey’ and meant to pull from different fictional men from the genre - as well as outside of it. i would say him being the leading man is unique within itself because people of color in soaps ( at least within american soaps which this is all inspired by ) are generally never the leads or involved in what i actually watch soaps for: the drama, the love stories, the scheming, the cheating, etc. they’re usually the straight men to the white characters; living well off but boring lives and are rarely given front burner stories. all black people in a soap opera are usually always going to somehow know each other, only date each other, etc. you can switch black people out with latinos, asians, etc. and it would still be true. the characters of color are easily written off as a result of this.

        in general, soap operas are very white - and still are today. they have a history of casting white people as mexican characters, ex. lindsay hartley as theresa on passions. asian american soap characters are severly lacking - i could probably count the amount of i’ve seen on screen. a black actress formerly on general hospital mentioned how people jokingly called the show ‘generally white hospital’ behind the scenes. chad.wick bos.eman left all my children because of how much of a stereotype his character was - and he was right ( ironically, michael b. jord.an was his recast ). some shows are getting better, bold and beautiful currently has a story involving two characters cheating ( one of which is black ) and it’s hot af but it’s still not enough for the times we’re in. this isn’t a problem exclusive to soaps either - most media has a problem with this. people of color aren’t getting lead roles and especially not romantic lead roles - even if they do, the shows always make it a interracial romance with a white person ( ex. bridg/erton ) as if people of color of different races are incapable of dating each other.

Bc you’re the person I feel like I can run and go brainrot off to, can I offer twilight brainrot?

Twilight Princes was my first LoZ game. I never played it bc my Wii was busted and I didn’t own a GameCube. But it was the first game of the franchise that was introduced to me and the first play through I ever watched. So I’m projecting it onto Player for the sake of this.

Player, of course, knows Twilight is Wolfie. What do they do despite this? Act completely clueless. Let him tell them whenever he’s ready. It falls into Twilight knowing he can relax near them while he’s Wolfie and he takes advantage of it. They just talk and talk as they pet him. About the others, about their home, about stupid stories, maybe something they saw. About him.

And he’s always expecting a “but” whenever they go on about him. Something negative because I know he struggles with himself at times. And he’s always surprised when it never comes. It’s always “Twilight is pretty cool” or “I’m happy I’m desensitized to gore because if I wasn’t, I wouldn’t have seen how hot Twilight looked while fighting that Wizzrobe.”

And he just… gets flustered. Every time. Bonus if we’re running with him having a country accent like how twilight-pup gives him. Because then it’s compliments and gushing on his accent.

At some point Player just hits Wolfie with the “I’d trust Twi with my drink” but I feel like he wouldn’t understand the full weight of that sentence. Until he asks.

“So… what exactly does ‘trust with my drink’ mean? Heard someone say it while we were in town ‘n stuff.”

“It means trust. At least, in my time it does,” Player shrugs as they rummage through their bag. “Like— Okay. I guess it’s real talk hour. In bars and clubs, people aren’t exactly trustworthy. If you go out with someone, you have to know you can trust them. There’s a whole thing when it comes to drinks. People always have an eye and hand on their drink. If we don’t, we buy another one.”

“Even if it’s ain’t finished?” Twilight raises a brow.

“Mhm. Because it’s common for someone to possibly get… drugged,” they seem to droop at that. Frustration and sadness building in them. “Girls and guys alike go missing. Giving someone your drink—“

“— means ya trust them enough not to hurt ya,” he finishes softly.

The whole weight of the meaning would just crash down on Twilight. You trust him enough not to bring you harm when you can’t trust others. In a place where you might get hurt. You trust him enough to leave an item with him without worry.

And it just builds this overwhelming feeling in him that he drops down beside you and just… leans against you in a way. For the whole night. Like he’s full on emotional from how much you trust him.

It probably leads with him admitting he’s Wolfie and Player snickering because they always knew. Just a giggle of “I know. I’ve been knew. Since like— I first got my hands on your journey. You’re a cutie both as a wolf and a hylian.”

The ultimate trust, honestly and that's definitely a great way to explain their process with trust- just thinking about Player naturally asking Twilight to hold their drink either to go toilet, dance, etc. etc. I feel it would only make Twilight feel even more special as they actively show their trust in him.

Player would also be sure to lowkey tease Twilight about knowing but still not actively saying anything- more because they think the rest of the group doesn't know.

You're right in assuming Four hasn't had a near death experience. And I can totally see his most precarious moment in this mortal coil being having too much coffee, boy probably put himself in SVT. XD

Sky's closest time to dying is either going to be blood loss when he was shot, that one time the helicopter got shot down, a lot of other times after he got transferred, or when he had his episode that had him end up living at the ranch.

Time's had a good handful, but his most terrifying to him was probably when someone almost killed him as a teenager and he had to... retaliate.

Wild's would definitely be his brain altering memory erasing injury from the war. Oh and that one time he blanked out while riding his motorcycle, that didn't end well. Wind almost died in the battlefield and that's how Warriors found him. Wars almost died multiple times while in an active war zone as a soldier.

Legend hasn't had it too bad, honestly (at least he gets a break in this AU lol). I mean there have been violent moments in the ER but he hasn't almost died. He's probably more likely to explode his heart from caffeine than Four is, but Legend is a caffeine expert, he would never make such a rookie mistake as ingesting almost 500mg of caffeine for his first night shift what the hell Four.

Hyrule... oh Hyrule. Poor thing. He's got a lot of street smarts, we'll say that. Also, bold of you to assume he has a car.

Twi has had to throw hands plenty of times during his EMS period and when in the rougher part of town in the story. He hasn't almost died from it, but he's gotten hurt. The worst of it was one call where there was an active shooter.

So to be honest, Four and Ledge have had smooth sailing, Wind, Wars, Sky, and Wild had War Trauma, Time and Hyrule had messed up pasts, and Twi's had work hazards.

Twilight

His leg was broken.

That much he knew.

What he didn’t know is if it was broken in two or four places.

If this was broken in one he would have been fine- he could have walked it off even. He was strong, he could take it.

He knew that was a stupid thing to say.

He also knew that he wasn’t going to be putting any weight on it for a very long time. 

That being said, he also had to get out the predicament that he found himself in.

Crawling away from his hiding spot, he can hear the monster roar behind him quickly followed by the thunderous stampede of footsteps coming right for him.

Part of him wants to give up and just let it happen. He’s too tired, too weak, and too exhausted of this gig that maybe this will be his final curtain call and he can just fall asleep and go peacefully.

The other more determined part of him thinks that’s another stupid thing to say and wants him to get up and fight until he loses his head from his shoulders.

It’s louder than the other voice and Twi forces himself to keep moving despite the pain until he can at least get the none broken foot flat onto the ground. Pain shoots up his leg regardless when he tries stand and he can’t help but fall back down.

He growls deep within his throat and reaches out to grab his sword. It’s within his reach but he knows it’s only grasping at straws.

A loud, blood curdling, ear piercing scream rings out despite the noise around him and he ducks his head from the volume alone.

The rolling thunder stops before it can reach him and he nearly deflates from the relief that rolls over him instead.

“Link.” He hears you breath out, much closer and much more exhausted than he would have imagined. “Please... please... no...”

“I’m not dead.” He groans out. Although he feels like he got pretty close to that a second ago.

“Oh thank god!” You cry and land next to him, just as he tries to push himself up again.

Twilight is too focused on the pain to notice it but he has the faintest idea that you might be crying.

Lifting his head up, he can see the dead lynel just in front of the two of you along with multiple bokoblins with arrows sticking out the back of their heads.

“How did you-”

“Don’t ask. Don’t talk. Please just... save your strength.” You brush the hair out of his face and help him roll over, slowly maneuvering to sit up, getting your arms under him to lift him up.

Considering the close call, Twilight doesn’t plan on looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Legend

He really couldn’t have done a worse job, all things considered.

He was by himself, he was hurt, he was weaponless since he lost his bag sometime ago and he was about to be attacked by the upcoming monster group just up ahead.

He needed to get to the other side but those beasts were blocking the way.

There was nothing between him and them either so it’s not like he could sneak on by once he entered that room and get to the other side unnoticed. He could always get his Pegasus Boots to take him to the other side but then he risks being chased through the hallways and he’s not inclined to bring attention to himself or work work his body when he’s actively bleeding from his side.

The more he thinks about it though, the more he realizes he doesn’t have a choice- not if he wants to go forward and try to regroup with the others.

He takes the risk.

He places himself at the front of the room with his best shot at a straight line through the place and guns it.

The monsters notice him instantly and all make a move to grab their weapons and give chase. The power lasts him until he reaches the hallway, crashing into the wall as he goes. It agitates his side and knocks him over but he’s quick to get back onto his feet and dash down the remaining hallways.

Oh how he wishes he had a map to know where he needed to go!

He trips.

Legend goes flying to the ground, scraping his face and getting dirt into his wound as he skids against the dirt.

The monsters are gaining once more and Legend has to push him off of the ground with shaking arms.

“Link!” He hears someone call his name. He knows that he should recognize the voice but he’s too centered on the pain to really pay attention to it.

“Spiritual Guardians!” The voice cries and the monsters begins taking damage as they get closer.

When Legend opens his eyes, he sees himself surround by little spectral creature with cone like faces and long rat like tails. They might be mice but they’re also big and also look nothing like mice.

“What?” He blinks and barely registers you pulling him up and around yourself.

“Come on Veteran. This isn’t where you fall.” You grit your teeth and begin to pull him along. “Wild will be here soon and we’re gonna take care of the rest of it but you need to help me out here!”

“What are these things?”

“Possums. You learn to love them.” You joke and limp along with Legend, he didn’t even noticed you were hurt to.

“Thank you.” Legend swallows some of his spit- or maybe its blood- it taste like iron- and tries to not cough on the next breath that leaves him.

“You’re welcome, just don’t die on us. We need you.” You say. “This spell will last ten minutes. Try to hold on until we can get to the others.”

“Got it.” Legend sighs and rests his head against yours. He’s glad to see you.

Sky

Sky knew he wouldn’t be to run for much longer and he was going to be over taken by the monsters currently chasing after him.

The urge for him to go faster was strong but he was also slowing down and against his will.

This would not bode well for him.

Ahead of him there’s a lava river and a branch that he thinks he can swing on it to gain distance from his pursuers.

Familiarity fills him as he takes out his whip and cracks it at the branch. It latches on as he knew it would and he jumps.

Only for the branch to snap once it was holding all his wait.

There’s a force suddenly pulling him to the side and he crashes into the warm and dusty earth with little fan fair. It’s painful and not in any way, shape or form, graceful.

But he doesn’t land in the lava.

He boot might be on fire but he’s not dead and he’s not close enough to the river to take any damage.

He tries to push himself up from the ground but he’s too tired and he collapses.

“Hold on Sky I got you.” You say taking out the hook from his tunic and giving him a quick kiss on the forehead. 

He rolls over, out of breath, and watches you swing your fishing rod from the side your one and hook each monster that dared to come close to the edge of the river and pull them until they were over the lava, dropping them there only to go for the next one.

One by one you drag them all to their ends until there’s not a single monster left that still dared to attack him.

Sky looks up at you, a little more composed but still breathing heavily. “Thank you.”

You wink and throw your rod over your shoulder. “Don’t worry babe, I got you.”

🙄Sugar Coat😾

Sugarcoat has a crush on Sci-Twi, but considering her blunt personality, she hid it well.

If Sugarcoat had a power, it would be the ability to hear from far distances (sonic hearing).

She’s a Lesbian Ace.

She's half British.

She has a soft spot for cats, especially if they are kittens. She doesn’t like dogs, only because one bit her when she was younger.

Her favorite kind of flowers are Daffodils and Lillies.

She’s the smartest of the 5.

Her favorite foods are salad, fish, and blood sausage. Her least is soup.

In the future, she’ll become a food critic.

She's a hidden street dancer. This is something that she hides from her family, since she comes from a rich family that cares highly of their reputation. Her mother and Cinch are associates.

Still undecided, but I like the idea of her and Sliverspoon being related in someway.

😘Sour Sweet😒

I imagine her as either Latina-coded, African American coded, or both.

Sour Sweet is physically the strongest of the Shadow 5.

She likes to work out at times.

Sour Sweet's reasoning for her "two-faced" personality is due to childhood related issues. She always felt that she had to act a certain way to get what she wanted out of her parents (attention, acknowledgment etc.).

If Sour Sweet had power, it would be the ability to turn into any person of her choice (Shape Shifter).

She’s Bi.

Her nickname by her friends and family is Sweetie.

She’s into Salsa Dancing.

In the future, she would be an actress.

Her favorite food is fruit salad. Her least is beets.

She has a twin sister. Saying who it is would be spoilers for anybody who follows @ask-sonata-dusk.

She has some interest and attraction to Sunset Shimmer.

I do imagine Fluttershy & Sunny Flare dating at some point.

Sunny Flare is Principal Cinch's daughter.

Sunny Flare, Rarity, and Mystery Mint are cousins.

I imagine being one of those strong, kind, compassionate, but tough girlfriends that's protective of their partner.

Sunny Flare's personality I picture it to be thicked-skinned, witty, and sassy. A bit similar to Sugarcoat, she believes in telling it the way it is, no matter how much it hurts.

Sunny can be very assertive.

She's a Lesbian.

In the future, she’ll be a professional artist.

💪Indigo Zap⚡️

Indigo is a Non-binary Lesbian. She finds out that she’s non-binary when she’s in college.

She lives with her aunts because she and her parents don't get along.

She has a crush on Sugarcoat.

Her magical ability would be to control and bend metal at her will.

I imagine Indigo being even Japanese-coded and Korean-Coded. However, she grew up in America of course.

In the future, she would be a mass car driver.

Don’t know if I’ll keep this one (because not everyone HAS to be related in EQG), but I kind of imagine her and Flash Sentry being cousins (or at least distant cousins).

Similar to Dash, she’s very good at numerous sports and activities.

Indigo is into partying, like Lemon.

Lemon is a Lesbian.

If Lemon Zest had a special ability, it would be the ability to mellow other people's moods out. She would get them to calm down or be at ease by touching them and focusing.

Lemon is good at DJ.

Lemon and Vinyl are currently dating.

In the future, she would become a DJ.

Lemon likes sour candies and bubblegum.

When Lemon isn’t hanging out with the other Shadowbolts, she hangs out with Pinkie and Sonata (hey, she’s allowed to have friends outside of friends 🤷‍���️).

Lemon’s into yoga. In fact, she takes the same classes as Fluttershy and Rainbow.

🧮Principal Abacus Cinch👩‍🏫

Cinch has a twin sister who’s the opposite of her: Hibiscus Cinch. She’s a cool beauty which a touch of sass. For her to be her age, she’s very outgoing. Mystery Mint is her daughter and shares custody with her ex husband. So when Mystery’s with her father, she takes some time for herself, activities like riding her motorcycle. ((If you want to know more about her, feel free to ask)).

Cinch is Sunny’s mother and Rarity’s aunt. However, she’s not close with either one of them.

She’s married to Neighsay.

Cinch’s new occupation is a Librarian.

As expected, she has won many awards throughout her school years.

I imagine Cinch being the way she is due to her mother also being strict while growing up.

Hibiscus, Cookie Crumbles and the youngest sibling broke the family’s cycle of abuse/trauma bonding. Unfortunately, Cinch did not.

Her rough past unfortunately played into Sunny’s upbringing. They don’t have the best relationship, but it’s more complex than that.

With the above said, I do have some ideas for a slight Cinch redemption, but I’m not sure if I want to go through with it yet. Sometimes, people don’t change and unfortunately they stay like that.

Cinch’s favorite drink is mostly different kinds of tea, mint and earl grey especially. However, when stressed or angry, she drinks wine.

Hey I'm coming from your fic on ao3 "Change in fate". Can I ask you about your headcanon on Twilight's eyes please ?

Hey! You can totally ask about my headcanon on Twilight's eyes!

So, one of the weird things I noticed at one point is that Twilight's eyes are different colours in wolf and hylian form. It's very subtle, and might just be an effect of the lighting, but Twilight's human form has slightly grey-ish silvery eyes while his wolf form has much bluer looking eyes.

So, you can see what I mean here:

Wolfie's eyes are a bit more blue, while human Twi's are way more silver grey looking.

This, normally wouldn't be a big thing, especially because it might just be the lighting, but I am prone to overthinking things, and so I started overthinking.

So, I can't walk you through my thought process to get to here, because I don't remember it, but the end result is this:

Twilight isn't a Light Dweller anymore, but he's not a Shadow Being either. See, my thought is that the wolf form of his is a Shadow Being, it has to be because it follows the same rules as other Shadow Beings in his game. Light Dwellers cannot see the beasts of twilight unless they're those bugs or are actively attacking them. They also cannot see Link in his wolf form until after the twilight is lifted. Light Dwellers cannot harm Shadow Beings within the twilight, but Wolfie can. So, since the wolf form follows the same rules as other Shadow Beings, I believe that the triforce (which first created the wolf form) changed not just his physical shape, but also what Link was. He became a Shadow Being in order to do what he had to.

But what about his human form? That's still all Light Dweller. It's his original form, and so he's still very much a Light Dweller, even as a Shadow Being. And you can see that in his eyes. (See? I got back to it.)

So, my thought is that, by the end of his game, Twilight is neither fully Light Dweller nor Shadow Being, but somehow a mix of both. He possesses shadows in his soul now, and those shadows become a coat to protect him in his wolf form. (Insert wolf pun about having a fur coat here.)

How does this relate to his eyes? Eyes are said to be the window into the soul, and I took that literally.

In his wolf form his eyes are a more saturated blue, the light at his core shining through, even as he's cloaked in protective shadow.

In his human form, what you have bleeding through are those shadows, hidden in the center of his soul until he needs them, which is why his eyes are a bit more desaturated in colour, looking a more silver/grey colour.

So, uh, TL;DR - Twilight is both and neither Light Dweller or Shadow Being, and whichever one he is the other bleeds through to be seen in his eyes, which is why his eyes are different colours in his two forms.
