Something I’ve noticed lately, and maybe others have, too (unless it’s flown under my radar because I don’t really go out of my way to look when I should be if I want answers), but...I don’t recall Crestoria ever getting any merchandise the same way Luminaria is getting? Or if it has, nowhere near the same amount of what I’m seeing?

I mean, at least it’s getting a manga adaptation but. That’s honestly it AFAIK?

Am I overthinking this?

#tales of series #i think it was the way cresty was managed by whoever developed it that's the reason why the game failed #it's not bamco - it's another company that i can't think the name of off the top of my head #and i think that same company's had problems in the past managing other mobile games #i don't think crestoria was unpopular b/c it had a small following #and the backlash to the shutdown was pretty loud - at least on the western side #then again maybe it's also b/c mobile games are stigmatized here #due to MTX & predatory practices but i don't recall tales mobile games to be that bad?#all i know was that cresty meandered more toward the side stories w/ legacy characters #& less toward the actual main story #like idk if i were writing a story that took place in a dystopian landscape that's making peoples' lives hell & has to be overthrown #i'd make that more of a top priority over whatever unrelated hijinks the side cast is getting into #and i know ppl loved having the other tales charas in crestoria but i think bamco made a big mistake caving in #& inserting them into the plot that should've had just kanata and the others created just for crestoria #luminaria's still young but it's abundantly character-driven w/ an overarching narrative going on in the background #& while idk how the game feels personally each character has their own unique playstyle #that & the official merch i'm seeing as i lurk on twitter tells me there's a lot more care going into luminaria than there was crestoria #& i can kind of see why that'd sting for cresty fans #and why they'd feel bitter toward luminaria #idk this is just something i've been thinking about for a while #ngl i kind of want to see where lumi and cresty rank in popularity just to see how accurate my thought process is
